8, 10, and 19 for Carmessa, for that rt ask game :>
I FINALLY GOT AROUND TO DOING EM! :] heheh thank you for asking <3
↓↓↓↓ranting below
What was their Triumph? Do they take pride in it? "Feat of Greatness" This was during her time at the Astra Militarum. As a Primaris Psyker, younger Carmessa was known for her rather reckless combat style, focusing mostly on impactful hits than sustained attacks. I haven't fully fleshed out this scene, but on quick terms: While going through a warp jump alongside her comrades, the Gellar field goes down, and they are overwhelmed by enemy forces. Allowing her team to focus on the other enemies, Carmessa redirected her biomancy to empower herself, and faced off against the leading daemon. When she's found by Victoria, she looks… off. Even for someone coming down from an adrenaline high, her gaze looks too lost, her body twitchy as she's still on edge from the battle. Carmessa then lashes out at her officer, not realizing who it was, and is purposely knocked out with one good hit from Victoria. While this was presented as a thunderous win to the rest of the crew, Carmessa's state was kept under wraps by Victoria. This ends up affecting her in the future though, as she starts being considered dangerous by the others at the Astra Militarum. This only worsens when she becomes a psyker in a position of power, and she eventually goes through a procedure to attach psykana-limiting implants.
How do they feel about becoming a Rogue Trader? How easily do they take to being the head of the von Valancius dynasty? This is something that Carmessa is bitter over, and is reluctant about at first. She went through a similar situation before, her life turning upside down as she took the mantle of her superior. While she was able to adapt, and is now used to a position of higher power, her existence as a psyker gnaws at the back of her mind, and she's already running on fumes from her time at the Astra Militarum. And something she's grown to heavily dislike is other people dumping messes on her lap. She does slowly start making the most out of her position, noticing the true extent of her new influence and opportunities, but she can never bring herself to fully relax and get comfortable with her role. If she stops moving now, she's dead meat.
Which three skills are of the most value to them? As she mostly tries to remain on the backlane, her usual behavior during combat is using her previous combat experience to give orders, point out details to her allies and give properly timed assistance with her biomancy. Carmessa's biomancy manifests in mostly blood and medical knowledge. She's deeply aware of the human body, and this helps her know how to heal others with her powers, and how to make their blood pump faster when the situation demands haste. I like to interpret her "giving an extra turn" as an officer to be a literal call to action, her influence over the warp giving her allies the extra strength for one extra hit, to dash away faster than they are able, keeping an advantage over their enemies.
#oc stuff#carmessa#ask game#ive been thinking about all this for the past 5 days#auuughhhhhh carmessa my beloved#.word

Since you said its free to ask.
8. What was their Triumph? Do they take pride in it?
9. What was their Darkest Hour? How does it affect them today?
10. How do they feel about becoming a Rogue Trader? How easily do they take to being the head of the von Valancius dynasty?
Also 8 and 9 what kind events they experience on those high and low moments.
I remember your rt is a psyker, so I'm curious how they felt being the heir of dynasty from a former occupation that was considered 'cursed' and heavily used by Imperium to a free roam trader.
heyyyy!! thank you so much for asking... i love any excuse to gush about carmessa

What was their Darkest Hour? How does it affect them today? "Shadow of Torment" On the Black Ship, she managed to survive and end up as a sanctioned psyker, the most visible mark of the living conditions she experienced being the scars inflicted by her keepers. They were trying to "help" her improve and control her biomancy by making her deeply aware of every part of her body, but there was no "true" benevolent intention. She was injured over and over as she tried to keep up and heal the wounds before they got too severe, and she kept these scars as a reminder to herself, so the memory of pain would keep her going. Some years after (for extra context), Carmessa deliberately healed these scars with her biomancy once she was moved to the Astra Militarum, as her body and build became intended choices for her. She would not let others define her anymore, yet that is a paradox in and out of itself, as it was Victoria (her new superior) that convinced her to do so. Victoria had asked her for a demonstration of her biomancy in order to prove her usefulness, and Carmessa healed the wound she caused her. Yet Victoria's keen eye had noticed the scars on her arms and body, and probed further. At her explanation, which left out many details she was not ready to mention, Victoria's response urged her to also erase those reminders on her body. She would now have different reminders apart from the scars. Carmessa was then assigned as a Primaris Psyker to report directly under Officer Victoria in the Astra Militarum. As a show of devotion, once she started "officially" reporting to her, she tattooed the over the remainder of her scars, as well as the Aquila on her forehead.
How do they feel about becoming a Rogue Trader? How easily do they take to being the head of the von Valancius dynasty? "I'm curious how they felt being the heir of dynasty from a former occupation that was considered 'cursed' and heavily used by Imperium to a free roam trader." This is something that Carmessa is bitter over, and is reluctant about at first. The main issue she struggles with regarding this is that she's not fully used to taking the reigns to her own life. She does impose a lot of limits on herself to just be able to cope, not feeling like she should have full free will at some point. Imagine a dog that walks around holding their own leash, but the one she uses to keep on going is tight as a noose around her neck. It's also why she slowly starts making iconoclast choices throughout the game (though she does fully commit to a dogmatic pov). She starts realizing the actual sizeable impact she can make as a Rogue Trader, so she makes the most out of her position, but she can never bring herself to fully relax and get comfortable with her role. If she stops moving now, she's dead meat.
#carmessa#oc stuff#ask game#i actually copy pasted this from my writing software and then started writing to add more details right on tumblr#. i am spinning carmessa in my mind as if my brain was a microwave#.word

i will proceed to gush about carmessa
↓↓↓↓
as a kid in a forge world, she was to be forged for a purpose. her psykana awakening only turned up the fires of the forge, as she was molded into a weapon.
the black ship was as a hammer, each blow struck strengthening her blade. her path ahead was a straight line, and becoming a primaris psyker was a goal accomplished by preventing any distortions from the path ahead of her.
yet, normalizing a blade after forging is necessary. it relieves stress, makes the steel more consistent, and the officer in charge of her at the astra militarum could see that.
she brought out the edge in her. as grinding a blade, victoria profiled her, brought out the ruthlessness in her, with the lingering words and touches that left a sanding sensation on both her skin and ego.
but even the memory of the feeling faded away with victoria as she was taken away from her, her passing coalescing on carmessa taking her place. the absurdity (and outright heresy, for some) of the situation sent carmessa under heat from everyone around her, except victoria's superior. it was his sole approval that kept her from being taken out back and shot, as any psyker who had grown too big for their boots would have.
and this treatment only served to harden her edge. her reckless ways became more precise, calculated, giving way to grander strategy as she slowly stopped leading from the front lanes. as she grew accustomed to giving orders, while she didn't lose her ruthlessness, her bloodthirst was slowly sated.
while she was avoided, she was respected in turn, and the people around her were intimidated into following her orders. the tattoos on her skin were proof of her devotion to the god emperor, and this gained her favour with specific officers of the ship who could tolerate her.
yet the aquila on her forehead was not only for the emperor, but for the omnissiah as well, the twin-headed eagle a constant reminder of her dedication. she would never forget where she came from, the noise of machinery and movement of the engines always a calming lullaby for her, compared to what usually graced her ears. it was only her unshaking devotion that kept her sane throughout the years, even as age and exhaustion crept onto her, threatening to erode her edge to bluntness.
most definitely, she could and would never be one of them. a threat, both seen and unseen, feared by most and disdained by the rest. but iron has no consideration for petty pursuits such as those.
#i'm so feral about carmessa atm. trying to pinpoint the main dynamics i want to commit to with her#none of this makes much sense at the moment. i dont know words#but shes consuming my every thought aughhh carmessa i love you#i am not gonna ever gonna get to finish rogue trader if i just keep brainstorming all the pregame stuff for her#by the time i finish i'll still have to finish act 2 again#but foooooook#rn carmessa is a piece of iron that i'm melting at 4000000000000000° degrees celsius#.ramblr#oc stuff#carmessa#.word
