If you have 3 credit cards with $1000 worth of debt: 1. 23.99% APR - $50 min. - $450 Bal. 2. 18.99% APR - $50 min. - $300 Bal. 3. 0% APR - $25 min. - $250 Bal. 1st you find out the APR on each and select the highest one. 2nd you find the highest balance and select the highest one. 3rd you figure out the minimums and select the highest one. Now most people tend to pay only the minimum or more than the minimum on all their cards which is the worst way to get out of debt. You’re spreading yourself thin and it may feel like you’re never making a dent. So if you figure you’re paying an additional $50-$100 on each card on top of the minimum instead figure out a safe number you can spend on paying down your debt. Let’s say $500 Your total minimum is $125 Pay the minimum on every card except the one with the highest interest and balance. Extra Payment: $375 1. 450- 50- 375 = $25 2. $300 - 50 = $250 3. $250 - 25 = $225 Don’t stop making that extra payment instead carry it over to the next card like a snowball getting bigger going down a hill.
