For your OC Remi de Vil, Carlos's younger brother:
What’s his relationship with his parents like?
What’s his relationship with his extended family like?
What gestures does he really appreciate? How do you get on his good side?
Is he a good liar?
How does he break bad news to someone?
Does he have a collection of anything?
Does he have any regrets?
What does he fear the most?
How does he respond to criticism?
Tumblr media
Trigger warning; death, illnesses, and dysfunctional family dynamics.
Question 1:
Remi, like Carlos, both fears and pities their mother-- Cruella. Fears her because she's heavily abusive and a lunatic. Pities her because she's miserable and she had a horrible childhood. Pities her because she's sick and needs help that she isn't getting because instead of being in a hospital or on medication, she's on the isle. Which causes alot of resentment on Remi's part towards the heroes because while he might not like Cruella, she's still his mother and she raised him.
Which leads directly into part 2 of your first question, which is Remi's relationship with his dad. Which is nonexistent because Remi has never met the guy and nether he nor Carlos remember him or if they even have the same dad. But unlike Carlos, Remi doesn't want to know his dad because in his mind he's thinking 'he wasn't there for me, so why should I go looking for him when he's probably a dead beat like the rest of the parents on the isle?'
Question 2:
Remi's relationship with his extended family is complicated. He doesn't know most of them and he honestly doesn't want too most of the time. But this is basically a summary of it all:
He resents Dupree (his grandfather) for not growing a backbone and leaving his awful grandmother when his mother and uncles were still kids. And for him being slightly neglectful.
He downright hates his grandmother (Mallory/Malevola) for ruining not one but two whole generations of his family with her crap. Hates her for being neglectful and emotionally abusive to everyone, and for playing favorites. Even if he feels the tiniest bit bad for her due to how quickly things went down hill in her childhood.
He has mixed feelings about his cousin P.H. On one hand, he thinks he's a freak and a lunatic for experimenting on helpless animals-- usually knowing that it will hurt them in the process. But he also pities him because his dad died when he was young and got landed with Mallory who didn't notice/care when he started to go mad. He mainly just avoids him tbh, even if it makes him feel a tad bit guilty. Remi refuses to risk his safety or the safety of his pets/cousins for a man who stood by while they were abused by his mother. He's also one of the many reasons that Remi despises Auardon (for more information, send an ask or drop a question down in the comments below).
He loves each and every pet in their family, no exceptions but you aren't here about them (even though it's incredibly werid that the de vils have an army of pets even though most of them hate animals).
He resents Cecil (Uncle) for going to the isle with Cruella. For getting Diego stuck there with the rest of them.
He hates his uncles Cyrus, Divus, and Cotton for abandoning his mother when they were young, for never helping her get better, and for what they did. Hates Cyrus for farming alone and recklessly, resulting in his cousin Charles (Hunter's dad) being orphaned. Hates Cotton for playing with fire and orphaning Ivy. Causing both Charlie and Ivy to be raised by their extended family but at different times. Hates Divus because of his freedom and practical disownment of their family. He thinks Divus thinks he's better than him and that brews hatred in him before they ever meet.
He hates Charles for being a reckless idiot which caused a horrendous archery accident that killed him and orphaned Hunter.
Remi hates Judge Dimsdale de Vil for tormenting so many people and animals. For causing a whole town to be cursed and for trying to get countless other de vils trapped in the town so he could escape and cause even more havoc than he already had.
He resents his great grandfather and his grand uncle Malachai for mentally checking out on his grandma, Mallory, after his great grandmother, Dinita, got sick and died. But he also feels bad for them because of their shared medical condition and their loss.
Remi feels bad for his great grandmother, Dinita. The kind architect who loved her family dearly and eventually became the reason they fell apart. Feels bad for the kind woman who was eventually given the cruel nickname 'Dementia ' because she got sick by foolish children who'd go on to have children that would continue to ruin their family.
He feels bad for his ancestors, Queen Charlotte and Princess Ivy, who's parents' favoritism screwed both of them over in their own ways and hates the fact that they allowed that to drive them apart.
Remi is indifferent towards Hades and likes Melione.
And of course, Remi loves his siblings and cousins to death. But that's not much of a surprise to anyone, is it? (If you wanna know his feelings on his cousins and siblings' partners let me know. And if you want to know more about their whole dynamic. Or about his relationship with his unofficial cousins, the Badun children).
Question 3:
He appreciates when people remember things about him-- like his favorite food, drink, song, etc.
And when they get them for him.
Or when they go places together.
Or when they remember things He likes. So that's how you get on his good side.
Question 4:
It depends on the situation-- if it's important and he's had time to think of a lie, yes. On the spot? No.
Question 5:
It depends on the news and who he is talking to but he usually tries to do it in private and quickly.
Question 6:
Remi collects sea shells, cans, glass bottles, and guitar picks.
Question 7:
Remi regrets alot of things. Usually times when he's embarrassed himself or not stood up for someone. If that makes sense.
Question 8:
Remi fears losing his friends above all else.. except maybe turning out like his mother?
Question 9:
He tries to stay neutral about it but often comes off as defensive. Though if he realizes that they're right, he tries to change for the better.
(Keep the asks coming and I will keep pumping them out. Hopefully it will fill up my vacation so I don't have to work too much on it).

Note
You gave me a villain so I’ll give one back ;D Cruella de Vil!
@hoodpane jdkaljklgsdjklg THANK YOU, CAY! 💖 This is gonna get a little cursed at points, especially with my headcanon, just saying.
1. Sexuality Headcanon
I’ve thought about this a lot, actually, and I'm still not sure. It's hard to see those potential desires past her materialism and self-obsession...
Probably the worst take I have is that she's primarily an objectophile.
2. OTP
For the same reasons as stated above, I've never really had an OTP for her in mind, even with other villains. I do entertain the thought of her having trysts with some of her underlings, like Jasper, but I don't see it as genuine attraction. She uses people the same way she uses her toaster and kettle, you know? They're all perfectly replaceable.
Having said that, I think Cruella loved Anita once, so in her own mind, that would be her OTP. The problem is Cruella doesn't actually know how to love. She wanted to possess Anita, to have her belong to her in the most literal sense. And if there's one thing she hates, it's being denied something she wants. It makes her angry like nothing else...
I kinda feel like her obsession with dalmatians is rooted in that more so than it is the desire to be on the cutting edge of fashion. It might have been about fashion at first, but it evolved into vengeance over Anita choosing Roger. Cruella wants to hurt her for that, just not in a way that Anita would come to physical harm, because in some dark, shadowy corner of her psyche, Anita's still an object to be protected. She takes care of her in the same way she minds her furs, you know?
3. BROTP
Cruella and Evil Queen (in the Descendants canon verse). I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but I headcanon that Cruella and E.Q., being neighbours, spent quite a lot of time together, having dinner and drinks and a round of gossip while Carlos and Evie were mostly left to their own devices. Straying from canon, I like to think that this continued into the period of banishment, because does Cruella seem like the type of person who gives a single fuck what Maleficent has to say? Nah. Maybe E.Q. couldn't come over to Hell Hall anymore, but I just feel it in my soul that Cruella was still a regular at Bargain Castle.
4. NOTP
Cruella/Anita, for the reasons discussed above. I've seen AUs where Cruella is imagined as never having become a villain, but rather just being a sassy fashion designer who mutually falls in love with Anita while they're in college together, and that's super cute, but certainly, it's far removed from the actual reality of her character. Anita's just too good for Cruella in canon. Cruella deserves nothing of her heart.
5. First headcanon that pops into my head
Genuinely? I just had the most ridiculous crack headcanon come to mind and I can't stop laughing, thinking about it. Please don't take this seriously at all, but I'm thinking about Cruella stumbling on a furry convention and there's some dalmatian fursuiter crossing the street and she just floors it, slams the brakes right in front of the guy so he's startled and falls over, yeah, and then she orders Jasper and Horace out to kidnap the biggest fucking dalmatian she's ever seen and they throw this guy in the trunk because you don't tell her no...
Of course, she wants this dalmatian skinned, so Jasper and Horace just kind of awkwardly pop the head off this costume and then unzip the suit or whatever and the poor furry books it, screaming, and they let him go because whatever, and Cruella is like... holding this fursuit up like a pelt and cackling to herself because SHE'S FINALLY WON.
This is right before she gets taken to the Isle, by the way.
Years later, she finds the pelt of the one dalmatian she managed to kill (thinking to herself the authorities are fools for letting her keep this pelt) and she proceeds to put on the fursuit, head and all, and goes downstairs where Carlos sees her, screams, and runs out the door. She chases him down the road past Bargain Castle before she collapses in the dirt, so Jasper and Horace drag her ass back home.
6. One way in which I relate to this character
erase the image of Cruella in a dalmatian fursuit from your mind.
Well, her personality and ethics may be dogshit, but have you seen her outfits? The woman has some taste! I love her vision, just not the way she goes about it. She would have killed it as an ethical fashion designer (the irony of this wording, I know, I know... jkdlsjaklgsjklg).
7. Thing that gives me second hand embarrassment about this character
HER TEMPER. THAT'S HER FATAL FLAW. Like, not that I want her to succeed in her villainous schemes, I really don't, but can we just talk about the fact that this woman is a genius. Like, she really could be fearsome, but she's a joke because, not so deep down at all, she's a spoiled brat who throws a tantrum when she doesn't get what she wants. When her temper flares, it's all over... she stops thinking.
Imagine if she was patient, calmer, more calculating. Imagine how utterly terrifying she would be if she played the long game... just...
I'm so embarrassed that she doesn't realize her own evil potential.
8. Cinnamon roll or problematic fave?
Problematic fave, no question. I don't actually like this woman, okay. I just find her interesting, like some weird oozing fungus I'm compelled to poke with a stick. She reminds me of someone I hate, thus I want to dissect her character and figure out what's going on up there. :')
