Happy Birthday!!! 🎈🎂🎁 I have a Sonny Carisi headcanon to share, inspired by these:
It's your first time over at Sonny's place and you notice a guitar sitting in the corner of his living room. You didn't know he played guitar, so you ask him to play you something. He's all bashful about it but obliges after some gentle coaxing and serenades you on the couch with a song (I like to imagine it's "Ain't That a Kick in the Head" by Dean Martin) and it's, of course, the cutest thing ever.
I've read a mixed bag of what music Sonny would like, from Frank Sinatra to Bon Jovi, and would love your thoughts 😊
I one hundred percent agree with this!! 😍 I could see him sing some Sinatra, Dean Martin, or Bon Jovi (I grew up on Sinatra, Dean, and more).
I could also see him trying his hand at writing his own songs, especially songs for his significant other.
#karen speaks#my two cents#sonny carisi#law and order svu#other peoples headcanons#please send me headcanons for my birthday next week 🥹🥰

Are you, Season 24 of Law & Order: SVU, seriously telling me that Former Detective and Current Assistant District Attorney Dominic “Sonny - Good Italian Catholic Boy - ‘Try My Mother’s Sfingi’ - Genuinely Believes in True Love - Staten Island Sunday Family Dinners - Crosses Himself at Crime Scenes - Big Sweet Romantic Heart Angel Man” Carisi got married for the first time in a rushed surprise courthouse ceremony without his parents who he talks to every day and with zero of his three sisters, with a straight face??

The injustice of what they did to barba 😔 and then when he came back the injustice continued....
Barmaro was more my speed back then when angst potential drew me into ships hard but IF i was introduced to the show today i think i'd be a barisi girl (gn)
one of the greatest crimes of television is what they did to Barba. why couldn’t we have had Law & Order: For The Defense starring Raul Esparza instead 😔😔
i now have to reveal to you that i had such a reputation among my real life friends that when i moved away from NYC my real life friends got me this hat:

the carnal need i feel for Sonny Carisi to pump me so full of his cum that it still drips out of me hours later mhmm
you choke over another breath as sonny pushes your legs up. he groans as he stands on his feet on the bed. the tops of his thighs press to the backs of your’s as he folds your body further in half—pressing you into the mating position.
a whine releases from your throat as you feel the tip of his cock tickling your cervix. his previous three orgasms from the day leak pool around his cock as he fucks you roughly. “need you to be fucking pregnant” he growls, nipping and biting at your neck.
for every time sonny had cum, he made you cum twice. your cunt now overstimulated as he had used you this morning when you woke up, just before he left for the day, and in his office when you brought him lunch.
now he’s plunging deep into your pussy for the fourth time today. his seed had been spilling from you since 6 o’clock this morning, causing your head to become fuzzier and fuzzier with each time he abused your poor pussy without so much as warning your first.
sonny was like an alpha in rut when it came to your ovulation week, fucking and cumming in you multiple times a day for seven days straight. your back arches high as his thick cock stretches your sensitive little pussy as wide as it can go, pressing his palm into your raw and hardened clit to feel you spasm around him.
“m gonna give you my baby, princess… you just lay there and take it, okay?” somny coos in a condescendingly sweet tone. sweat drips down his brow and his usually bright baby blue eyes have become a dark ocean blue—heavy with his lust. “just let daddy breed this cunt” he hums simply, gripping your hips tighter to gain better leverage to fuck you harder.
“just take my fucking cock like the good whore i know you can be. take daddy’s babies from him princess… use your little pussy to milk my cock” he mumbles, spanking your clit a few times as your legs shake. “‘m not gonna stop fucking you like this till you’re nice and round with my kid” he warns, smirking darkly at you.

Good Girl
Dominick Carisi x Reader warnings: smut, language
It’s late at night and you’ve been needy for him all week. Regrettably you both had been too busy but now he’s finally here and you’ve been making out heavily for a good while. You were growing impatient. He could sense it. Finally, you had shed your clothes and relocated to your bedroom.
Dominick asks if you're gonna be a good girl for him but you just laugh and whisper a 'no' while he kisses down your neck. He stops and looks up at you, his brow furrowed, and you grab his jaw and kiss him again before you push him off of you. You turn around and get on your hands and knees in front of him, biting your lip, feeling so damn cheeky. He gasps, and you roll your hips forward, your wet pussy in his face now and his hot breath on you is already making your arousal drip out of you.
'No?' Dominick repeats and you feel his fingers spread your lips, dragging between your folds, playing with your juices. 'You're gonna be bad? You're gonna be a bad girl? What am I supposed to do about that?'
You swallow a moan, shaking with anticipation, knowing you got him where you wanted him - absolutely fucking feral.
'Put your big cock in me and fuck me hard, make me scream. Please, Dominick.' you rock back on his hand, desperate for more contact, just as he withdraws.
You can hear him lick his fingers, then curse under his breath before he finally grabs your hips and with one rough thrust he is inside you, filling you to the hilt. You cry out his name in pleasure, knees already threatening to buckle. He sets a hard, fast rhythm, fucking into you relentlessly, just like you wanted him to, and god, does it feel good.
'Mmmhmmm I want to fuck you until I feel that sweet little pussy clenching around my cock.' Dominick moans, his fingers finding your clit to rub circles there while he fucks into you roughly.

okay but sonny showing you off infront of the squad and making Amanda jelly because he’s sooooo in love with you
need tbh, omg 🤭
౨ৎ
he would be so excited to introduce you to the squad. you two had only been dating for a couple of weeks, but he talked nonstop about you. they thought he rambled enough before he met you, but after? my god, they wanted to throttle him.
he'd want to do it in a casual setting when the whole team was relaxed and not worrying about cases, so when amanda proposed that they all go out for drinks, he saw the perfect opportunity.
he asked, of course, if he could invite you. he didn't want you to just show up and have it be awkward. they all agreed, though, of course. they wanted to see who had been able to make him so happy recently (also, they weren't even entirely sure that you weren't just a figment of his imagination).
amanda had been oddly quiet when he brought up inviting you, plastering a tight smile on her face and nodding.
"of course," she said, something unreadable in her tone.
normally, sonny would have immediately picked up on her shift in demeanor. he was her, self-proclaimed, best friend after all, but he was just so excited to finally introduce you to these people that he had grown to consider his second family.
he shot you a quick text, asking if you were available to meet them at the bar, and thankfully, you were. although you would probably drop anything you were doing if he asked you to anyway.
his fingers drummed on the bar impatiently as he waited for you. he kept glancing over at the door, willing you to walk through it.
"look at him; he's like a lovesick puppy," fin teased him, noticing that he was more interested in the front door than the conversation going on.
"leave the poor boy alone, fin," olivia scolded him playfully. sonny rolled his eyes at their teasing, not paying it any mind.
"oh, here she is," he exclaimed, his eyes lighting up. he practically jumped out of his seat to greet you at the door.
"hey," you laughed, giving him a quick kiss on the lips as he appeared in front of you, seemingly out of nowhere.
"we're right over here," he said, a big, goofy grin on his face. he rested his hand on your lower back, leading you over to the squad. "everyone, this is my girlfriend," he introduced you.
you smiled, giving a little wave as you said hello and told them your name. "it's so nice to finally meet you all. sonny has told me all about you."
"he has, has he?" olivia grinned, raising an eyebrow. sonny smiled nervously, blushing as he rubbed the back of his neck with the hand that wasn't secured around your waist.
"likewise," fin nodded, giving you a warm smile. "i was beginning to think carisi here was making you up."
"nope, definitely real," you laughed nervously. everyone fell silent for a moment, an awkward tension settling. you tried not to take it too personally. you were a stranger, and they were like family. it was natural for there to be some awkwardness. sonny cleared his throat, deciding to break the awkward silence.
"here, take my seat," he insisted, ushering you to the barstool.
"thank you," you smiled brightly, your heart fluttering at your boyfriend's kindness. you didn't think there'd ever be a time when he didn't make your heart race.
"chivalry isn't dead after all," fin joked as you took a seat.
"yeah, yeah," sonny rolled his eyes, a smile playing on his lips. he was used to fin's little remarks by now. he stood behind you, one hand on your waist and the other holding his beer. he was so close that if you leaned back a little, you'd probably press against him. it made a blush rise to your cheeks.
"amanda, right?" you asked, turning your attention to the blonde sitting next to you. she'd been awfully quiet, eyeing you warily. you knew how close sonny was with her, so it was important to you that she liked you.
"yup, that's me," she says, her tone uninterested. she flashes a smile your way, one that doesn't quite meet her eyes.
your brows furrowed slightly. you got the impression that she didn't like you, and you couldn't possibly think of a reason why that may be. you'd only been here for five minutes tops. how had you already done something to put you out of her good graces?
you didn't have long to dwell on this fact, however, because fin's voice cut through your thoughts, making you turn to face him. he began telling some story about his ex-wife that had you smiling and laughing along with him.
fin was so enigmatic. it was almost impossible not to be sucked into whatever he was saying, just by the way that he was saying it.
the rest of the night was a blur of drinks and stories. in the couple hours you were with the squad, you'd learned all about their job and all the embarrassing things sonny had done at one point or another.
he kept on hand on or around you at all times, staying close. so close that you could almost feel the rumble of his laugh. he smiled and doted on you all night long, making you blush. he was so in love with you, and he didn't even try to hide it.
amanda stayed relatively quiet throughout the night, and you could practically feel her burning gaze as she stared at you. she didn't seem anything like what sonny had told you about her, but again, you tried not to take it personally. you were sure she was probably lovely once you got to know her.
really, though, amanda was jealous. she hated how nice you were because it made it hard to hate you (hard, not impossible). she tried to be cordial enough and not show her dislike for you, but to be honest, her poker face wasn't all that great.
she was happy at first when she'd heard him talking about you two, but seeing you two together stirred something inside her that she'd rather not admit.

Packing It Up
Dominick 'Sonny' Carisi x Fem!Reader
Summary: You’ve sworn off boys after a few relationships-gone-bad, content with sticking to the sidelines and cheering on your friends in their attempts at true love. However, when Sonny Carisi waltzes his long legs into your life, he does a great job of ruining just about all of your plans.
Tags: alludes to reader being afab however majority gender neutral, grumpy-sunshine, upgrading boyfriends, "packing it up" by gracie abrams, "goodnight n go" by ariana grande if you need another one, sonny carisi only believes in true love Word Count: ~2.5k Notes: This is actually the first little thing I wrote for Tumblr when I decided to post stuff here. Law & Order SVU brainrot is strong. Especially for this silly lawyer man.
When you’re young, you are always told the same old story when you go through a break-up. There are other fish in the sea. It is not the end of the world. You’re not the first to go through this. He didn’t deserve you in the first place.
While it was all true, that did not stop the way your blood instantly heated up at the sight of the man in front of you, his hand perched on the back of a young brunette. You had seen her walk into the bar earlier, her head held high as she smiled at the bartenders and greeted them like they were old friends. As soon as he had appeared after her in the dim light, you had made the connection that she looked like you. He had left you, replacing you and reminding you that you were just another girl that happened to be his type.
The tension between you and the urge to waltz up to him and toss your vodka soda in his smug face was palpable. He hadn’t even noticed you. You were surrounded by loud, drunk friends and he hadn’t even looked your way. He was way too enamored with the way his new girlfriend bounced around the bar, waving ‘hello’ to friends and laughing loudly and taking up all of the air in the building.
Your time at the bar was often spent people-watching. Thursday nights were karaoke nights, where everybody met in an even darker room in the back and watched as a guy puffing obnoxiously on a vape pen downloaded videos from YouTube for people to scream into the microphone. Sometimes, the patrons were actually great singers, absolutely charming. Sometimes, it was the girl that sang the exact same Broadway song every single week, and not well.
Needless to say, you came here every single Thursday. With or without friends.
Deciding to wash away your annoyance with the pleasure of listening to other people embarrass themselves, you order another shot from the bar, downing it with only the glimpse of a wince before ordering another and carrying it with you as you leave your friends behind.
Fog drifting out of the machine on the stage filled the room, mixing with the stickiness of alcohol on the floor and the sweet smell of flavored nicotine. Old rock music blares from the speakers in the absence of singers, so loud that people have to get close to their friend’s ears in order to let themselves be heard. Not wanting to get caught in the crowd, you settle with hugging the wall closest to the doorway, keeping your drink close to your chest.
A few horrible singers later and a couple drinks more than that, you’re feeling nice and drunk, your bad luck of love and your horrible ex-boyfriend completely off your mind. Unfortunately, you’ve reached the stage of having to visit the restroom every three seconds, causing you to keep a close eye on your stumbling feet as you make your way through bodies and bodies.
Watching your feet proves to become more of a hassle than a cautionary action, especially when you slam directly into the hard chest of a very tall person. At least, that’s what you assume about them, seeing as you’re in tall heels and still only managed to slam into just their chest.
“Woah, you okay?” The tall person speaks, his accent immediately drawing your attention up to their face, where you’re met with a more than welcome sight. Quiffed salt-and-pepper hair, a handsome face with laugh lines, perfect cerulean eyes that stared back at you with nothing but pure worry. The man in front of you was the prettiest thing on this side of New York.
You’re so stunned that you forget to respond for a moment, physically shaking your head when you snap out of your daze. For a moment, you almost forgot that men were the bane of your existence. “Yeah, I’m fine. How’s your chest? Other than hard.” The minute the words leave your mouth in a ditsy babble, you visibly wince, shaking your head. “Forget I said that.”
He looks down at you with a boyish smile, amusement glittering in his way-too-pretty eyes. “My chest is fine, thanks.” As if intrigued, he tilts his head a bit to the side, shoving his hands into the pockets of his notably tight pants. “I’m Sonny.”
Deciding to let your drunk eyes have a treat of skirting down his body, your name falls from your lips in a soft mumble as you take in his outfit. Majority of his torso was covered in a white button-up, the first few buttons undone and the sleeves rolled up to his elbows, showing off forearms that you stared at for so long you started to consider the taste of them. It was covered by a dark blue vest that matched his tie and slacks, illuminating the eyes that you couldn’t get your focus off of.
He looked fancy. After dating a bunch of duds with stupid jobs, it was incredibly attractive to your racing mind. It also didn’t help that he noticeably watches you check him out, keeping his mouth shut in a stupid grin as he allows it to happen.
The flirty look that flutters across his face as you catch his gaze reminds you of your boiling anger for men.“Shut up.” You grumble at him, stumbling and hitting your shoulder against his as you move past him, your need for the bathroom not forgotten.
But when you leave the bathroom and saunter your way to the bar to close out your tab, he is right there on your trail, leaning against the counter with his body facing you. “You didn’t let me speak.”
“That’s the point,” you shoot back, bitterness lacing your tone. You don’t want to be mean, really, but your feet hurt and you’re cranky and looking at a handsome man has reminded you of every handsome man that had ever done you wrong.
Unfortunately, Sonny does not take the hint. That, or he blatantly ignores it. “Have a drink with me.” His voice is gentle, the little twinge of Staten Island accent almost slutty as it drips off of his tongue, the idea that it probably only sounds that way because you’re drunk and extremely worked up not lost on you.
“I can’t have a drink with you,” is the response you go with after a moment of debating whether to give in or not.
But he’s quick to banter back, one perfect eyebrow quirking up in amusement as he gives you a shit-eating grin. “I give you permission.”
“I’m cut off,” you deadpan. It was a lie. You’ve gotten blackout in the same bar before, at bachelorette parties and your-ex-sucks parties, and they still didn’t cut you off, leading to horrible mornings the day after that had you cursing all of the bartenders by name. But if it got the man off your back, it’d do.
Sonny laughs in response, putting both elbows on the bar as he scoots closer to you, giving room for the couple on the other side of him to flag down the bartender that has been ignoring you this entire time. “No, you’re not.”
“Shut up.” You repeat the hiss from before, wanting nothing more than for this pretty man to go away. He was distracting, with his expensive cologne washing into your nose and making your brain feel more fuzzy than it already did.
It didn’t help that the way he was looking at you lit your skin on fire. It was nothing but pure, unadulterated want.
The older man tilts his head, still not thrown off by your hostile demeanor. He repeats your name like a soft prayer, blue eyes searching into yours with the type of eye contact that makes you feel like he’s ripping you open from the inside out. He doesn’t say anything, but he also doesn’t move.
With an aggravated sigh, more pointed towards yourself than Sonny, you turn towards him. “Why do you want to talk to me so bad?”
“I like you,” he responds easily, tone carrying a sense of certainty that sends an unwilling chill up your spine.
“You don’t know me.”
“But I want to.”
And so you let him.
You let him order you another drink, finding a nice space in the corner of the bar to sit and just talk. You learn real fast that Sonny’s not like the other men you’ve dated. He doesn’t attempt to touch you the entire time you sit side-by-side, other than the brisk nudge of his knee against yours or the accidental brush of fingers when you both reach for your drinks at the same time.
You learn that he’s an ADA, although he used to be a detective for the Manhattan Special Victims Unit. He’s originally from Staten Island, which is easy to guess given his accent, and his family is Italian. He’s a devout Catholic. He has three sisters and it’s obvious that he loves his family by the way he speaks.
Mentally noting all of the information you can get from him, even the stuff he doesn’t say, you find yourself laughing and speaking with him until the bar lights come on, urging all remaining patrons to close up their tabs and leave.
Sonny is the first to notice, pretty eyes looking up at the light before right back down at you, lips tilting up in a smirk. “Looks like they’re kicking us out, doll.”
Ignoring the uncomfortable feeling of butterflies, you smile back. “Looks like your time is up. Did you get what you need from me?” The question comes out flirtily as you stand up, grabbing your bag and pulling it over your shoulder.
“Get what I need?” He’s visibly confused at your question, standing up and looming over you, one hand balancing himself on the table. Despite your obvious attempt to easily get away, he easily maneveurs you to press your back against the table, his other hand finding the other side of you. It happens so fast that you feel like you’re spinning, especially with the alcohol still swimming in your bloodstream.
Not letting yourself show your surprise, you smile up at him sweetly, purposefully batting your eyelashes as you drag your tongue against the inside of your bottom lip. “You said you wanted to know me. Do you think you know me?”
Sonny doesn’t back down from your attempt at flirtatious intimidation, smiling down at you, just as sunny as before. The multiple bourbons he had nursed throughout the night didn’t even seem to put a damper on him, except for the single strand of hair that escaped his perfect quiff to drape over his forehead. “Not enough. I think I’ll need an actual date for that.”
“Are you asking me on a date, Carisi?” You question tauntingly, even though you already knew the answer. If you were going to give up on your short-lived attempt to swear off of men, it wouldn’t be done easily.
He nodded, face dipping down in an attempt to get closer to you. “I’m asking for multiple, actually. Why stop at one?” His brow quirked in challenge, fully prepared to go toe-to-toe with you. Unfortunately, it worked. You were so used to men either fully giving up or attempting to show dominance. It was rejuvenating to find someone that was willing to fight for it.
“Amazing question.” You laugh, just before a bartender stepped up to remind you and Sonny of your unpaid tabs.
He paid them both, of course.
୭ 🧷 ✧ ˚. ᵎᵎ 🎀
Your dates with Sonny always went well. It was always something nice, like fancy restaurants or takeout and movies at his apartment. It didn’t matter if his schedule got busy or if he had to randomly get up and leave. You always took it in stride, giving him a smile and a kiss and sending him along his way. That was the thing that made him realize that there was nobody else he wanted to spend his limited free time with. It’s how you became his partner, after all.
At this moment, you lay on Carisi’s bed late at night, curled up underneath his grey duvet with a book open on your lap. He had been working at the desk in his living room since you two had finished dinner, a nice home-cooked meal he had spent the afternoon on, but you didn’t mind. On days like this, where you spent a lot of time together, it was good to have space to yourselves. Just being in his space, surrounded by the scent of his cologne and the one candle he always chose to light when you came over, was enough to soothe you.
You raise your head as you hear his footsteps coming towards the bedroom door, a smile blossoming on your face as he rounded the corner. He looked absolutely exhausted, his hair mussed and the hood on his hoodie twisted to the side of his neck, but just as handsome as the night you had met him.
Sonny groans as he shuffles over to what was now deemed your side of the bed, leaning over to place a gentle kiss on your lips. “This case is absolutely killing me.” He whines, head falling on your chest as he purposefully laid atop you, tossing the book in your lap to the side before curling his arms around your waist.
Laughing softly, you thread your fingers through his hair, letting your fingernails brush against his scalp soothingly. “I hope not. I’d miss you when you’re gone.” You hum, eyes softening as you look down at the way his eyes flutter closed.
“Mm. That’s why I love you.” He mumbles into your chest.
The words cause your body to tense, fingers stalling as your heart thuds just a bit harder beneath his cheek. Your lips part to respond, however the words don’t come, too busy playing that moment over and over in your head. While those three words weren’t rare to hear in this day and age, you could tell that it meant a lot to Sonny. He said a lot of sweet things in place of it, like ‘I adore you,’ but he had never said them in the few months you had spent together.
“Sweetheart? You okay?” He asks after a moment, placing his hands on either side of you to sit himself up, finding your eyes as the crease in his brow deepened. For a moment, you wonder if he even meant to say them, or if you had heard them right. That is until his lips tilt up at the corners, head tilting as he moves to lay beside you. “You don’t have to say it back if you don’t want to.”
Immediately, you’re shaking your head, reaching out to cup his cheek with your hand. “No, no. I was just shocked, that’s all.” Your thumb brushes against his cheekbone as he stares back at you, eyes soft around the edges. “I love you, too, Carisi. You stubborn bastard.” You tease, pushing a strand of hair behind his ear.
Sonny’s lips part in mock surprise, recoiling back as he tries to hide his grin. “And what do you mean by that?”
“I was in the bar that day swearing off men and love and all that stupid stuff until your dumb, pretty face showed up.” You huff, letting your hand fall as you lean your shoulder back into the pillow.
He sits up a little straighter, leaning forward to press his lips against yours quickly, only pulling away to mumble against them. “I’m glad I was able to win you over. Because I love you.” And then, before you are able to respond, he continues to pepper kisses all over your face, from your forehead to your cheeks to your nose before diving down towards your neck. “I love you.”
A giggle escapes your lips as you crane your head to the side, pulse thrumming beneath his lips. “I love you, too.”

Perfect / Love Won’t Die
Dominick “Sonny” Carisi x Reader • Law and Order SVU • Domestic Fluff, AFAB!Reader
Summary: Sonny happily holds the bouquet of flowers he bought for his girlfriend only for her to open the door and start crying. He immediately panics, but soon finds himself amused when she reveals the true reason for her tears. AO3
A/N: I’ve never posted any of my SVU imagines, but I had to with this one :) Happy 2024! My resolution is to post more of my work so I’m digging through all my drafts and posting them lol. Enjoy husband material Carisi <3
In all the six months you had been dating Sonny, there were never many problems that couldn’t be resolved with a simple conversation or a hug and a kiss on the cheek. As far as Sonny was concerned, it was the perfect relationship. He had gotten to know all your little habits; likes and dislikes, pet peeves, niche obsessions. Six months wasn’t exactly a super long time but it wasn’t short either. After only half a year of dating each other, he’d confidently testify that he had fallen in love with you deeply, enough to want to spend the rest of his life with you. He was happy to get married, have babies, grow old together…the whole shebang.
Things were going steady with you. He couldn’t imagine himself being with anybody else, and he was over the moon to know that you felt the samw way. Long late-night conversations about the future the two of you dreamed of revealed that you wanted him to be a part of it as much as he wanted you. Sure, Sonny was aware of how much of a (hopeless) romantic he could be sometimes, but that was in the past, and all of those relationships weren’t with the right people. His sisters had been talking his ear off ever since high school, warning him about women that would only break his heart. It made him wince just to think about all the red flags they ticked off angrily; gold-diggers, manipulators, emotionally unstable women, emotionally unavailable women…and the likes of it. That and their own broken-heart experiences that prompted very fuelled lectures of examples of men Sonny shouldn’t follow always rang in his mind, even until now.
He’d also been made well aware of how right they were about his exes with a bunch of ‘I told you so’s’ and narrowed eyes, but those relationships were in the past and he was much, much younger (and dumber) than he is now. He only had a couple of serious relationships in his adulthood, which ended up not being the right fit for either parties. Then, his love life got buried under the heavy, heavy load of police work and law school and he never found the time to make himself available in the dating pool. He was always too tired, too beat, too mentally drained. It was never a priority.
Then everything came to a stop and his whole world wouldn’t do anything but revolve around you. Sonny was smitten, like a lovesick puppy who got shot by cupid’s nuclear-powered bazooka as fate would have it.
He never felt this way about anyone in his life before, it was a feeling he relished in and was adamant on not letting go.
You were perfect.
Obviously, you had your flaws, but all only human, none of them fatal. Like how you had a habit of ordering too much food but he ends up being the one to finish it up when you realised your eyes had been bigger than your appetite — but he didn’t mind that at all, in fact he secretly loved being able to feast like a King — or how sometimes, you would arrive 10 minutes late to your dates on one of your busiest weeks, which he never complained about because he had his fair share of being unpunctual as well. Plus, you always made it up to him one way or another.
You were absolutely perfect, inside and out. Sonny thanked God everyday for sending a woman as smart, beautiful and kind as you his way. He’s never felt so lucky.
Sonny knew and loved everything about you, down to your weirdest quirks. If there was a Jeopardy! game where the topic was You, he’d be waving around his trophy like a mad man. What you didn’t tell him, he learned. It was the same way you got to know him. The two of you were always honest with each other, trust being the pillar of your relationship, it was why you got along so well. You knew how to make him happy, as he did for you.
So, why is it that you were crying as he handed you a bouquet of your favourite flowers as soon as you opened the door to your apartment?
“Hey, hey, what’s wrong?” His sweet smile dropped to a concerned frown, uncomfortable and nervous at your sudden reaction.
There you were in front of him, dressed in your most comfortable pair of pyjama pants and an oversized tee that he was sure once belonged to him, messy hair up that he found extremely adorable. Nothing seemed out of place, except for the fact that…well, you were crying.
He always brought you flowers. Was he late? He glanced at the clock on your wall. No…was it something he said? Something he did? Something…he totally forgot about?
“Nothing- no, everything’s fine, nothing’s wrong.” You sniffed, hugging the fresh bouquet close to your chest, dipping your nose into the floral fragrance to smell it only to find that the tears had triggered an onslaught of snot. That only made you cry more.
The bubble of nerves in Sonny’s chest was bursting at this point, he was almost worried he was having a heart attack. “Doll, you’re crying, something’s wrong.”
He held out an arm to pull you into a hug and you eagerly sunk into his embrace. You buried your face into the fabric of his suit jacket, breathing in what you could of his faded perfume. His calloused hands stroked your hair, softly caressing your head as he cradled it. He gently peeled you off of him to get a better look of your face, now red and eyes puffy from sobbing.
He held your cheeks between his palms and you pouted, looking up at him with sad doe-like eyes, and if that didn’t break his heart that he must not have one because the look on your face was shattering him in every possible way right now. One of his thumbs swiped a fresh tear off your cheek, he felt you nuzzle into his hand.
The tall blond gently led you to your couch and set the flowers down on the coffee table before cuddling up with you close to his chest. You wrapped your arms around him desperately, wanting nothing more than to be absolutely engulfed by everything Sonny — scent, skin and biceps.
“You’re killing me sweetheart, you gotta tell me what’s gotten you all upset like this.” You felt him kiss the top of your head and love bloomed in your chest immediately. “Come on, doll, what’s up?”
You sighed, big and loud, huffing away all the choked up tears with one big breath. “I swear it’s nothing. I’m so stupid.”
He was quiet for a while until you felt his voice vibrate from his chest again, “Was it…me? Did I do something wrong?”
You whipped your head to look at him, only to be greeted with a very worried expression.
Oh, Sonny. Oh, sweet heavenly innocent Sonny. How could you not love this man with every fibre of your being when he’s got that look in his eyes? The one where his pupils are so dilated, you could see your reflection in his big, blue puppy eyes.
How could you have been so careless?! Of course he’d think you were crying because of him, the sweet stupid man — God, you loved him so much. The thought only made you more emotional…and just like that the waterworks came rushing back in.
“Oh, God, Sonny-“ you hiccuped, pulling yourself away from him to put your face in your hands. “I’m so sorry- it’s not your fault at all,”
The lovesick, worried-sick man shot up next to you to pull you into his arms once again, stomach churning at the wave of emotions you were going through. He couldn’t even detective his way through this, his mind going haywire with every sniff that came from you.
“Then what is it?” He tried to keep the panic out of his voice, “Did something happen at work? Is it that asshole again?”
With what he dealt with at his job, it wasn’t out of the question for his mind to be going down that dark path, but he shoved his anger and panic down to focus on your well-being, remaining rational until you were calm.
That made you shoot up to look at him again, words tumbling out of your mouth hurriedly to curb his worries. “No, no! I’m okay, I’m absolutely fine, Todd — that ass — didn’t do anything to me, I promise you, I swear to God. And it’s not you, it’s not anything even remotely related to anything sane at all. I don’t even know why I’m getting all worked up over a bunch of random things, it’s just so—“
“Doll.” Your boyfriend’s voice pulled you out of your rambling. The loving concern that radiated off of him was enough to bring you back to your senses. Gently, he asked again. “What is it?”
You melted immediately, both embarrassed and exhausted from all the sobbing you had been doing. “I’m on my period.”
Oh.
Oh!
“I know, I’m not usually this emotionally affected but my hormones are all over the place and my TV decided to autoplay The Notebook, now I’m a mess.” You sniffed. “I’m so sorry. You shouldn’t have seen me like this, much less deal with me.”
It was only then that the detective noticed the TV screen, paused on Ryan Gosling’s frowning face.
He tried to stifle his amusement, but it came out in a fit of giggles, much to your dismay.
“It’s not funny.” You pouted.
“I just— I thought—“ His laughter consumed him, shoulders shaking as he held up his palms to his face and ran his fingers through his hair, uncaring of how it would mess it up. Sonny leaned back into the couch and continued to laugh with his hands over his face.
“I’m sorry.” Your voice was so quiet it came out like a squeak, ashamed of how you cried like a baby in front of him. Although the two of you spent plenty times over at each other’s places and hanging out with each other, over the six months he knew you, you never had your hormones hit you this hard. It wasn’t uncommon to you, but it wasn’t a regular occurrence either, and it certainly wasn’t an event Sonny had the pleasure of experiencing…until today.
“It’s okay if you’d prefer to be at your own place right now, I totally get it. I won’t be offended in the least, okay? I’ll call you in the morning.” Some men in the past have been weirded out when this happened to you, so you weren’t lying when you said you wouldn’t be offended — it was ‘your fault’ anyway, that was what you had grown accustomed to.
But Sonny, the ever-loving and understanding guy, did not share the same view. Of course not! Raised-with-sisters, loves-his-mother, thoroughly Italian, good-Catholic-man-who-respects-women Sonny, would never in a million years ever even think about being upset with you just because your period messed with your emotions. And that’s why you weren’t sure why you were so surprised when he responded to your offer with a kiss.
This was Sonny. He would never think lowly of you because of something you couldn’t control.
“That’s crazy talk, doll.” He mumbled into the kiss, smiling as he continued to love on your lips. “I’d never leave you alone like this.”
You pulled away a bit to properly look at his face, “Really?”
This was the man your heart belonged to. You don’t know how you didn’t explode when he gave you the most charming smile that ever graced his lips.
“Really.”
Everything you were worried about solved itself into place, like sentient puzzle pieces figuring themselves out with confidence.
“You’re too good for me.”
Unabashedly, you continued to make out with your boyfriend on your couch, a newfound appreciation driving you mad with love.
“I’m only for you, babe. Don’t need anyone or anything else but you.”
———
Now that the two of you were freshened up and settled down with mugs of hot cocoa in your hands, you and Sonny were much more at ease.
There was nothing better to Sonny than to be cuddled up with his girlfriend with her head laying on his chest. You practically clung to the arm draped over your shoulder, making a nest out of his bicep for your face — which reminded him of a koala bear, but he kept that thought to himself. He was so comfortable, so happy that this was his life. His nose pressed against your hair, the scent of your shampoo reminding him of a holiday well-spent together in Mexico. Deja Vu hit him the minute he kissed your head, laughing through his nose when he remembered the events that happened just a few hours prior.
“Hey,” he nudged you with the arm you were glued to. You pulled your focus from the movie you were watching — a comedy, nothing that would make the ‘bloody demon hormones possess me’ as you put it — and raised your eyebrows curiously in response. “I’m just wonderin’…”
“Hmm?”
“Why did you cry when I gave you the flowers?”
You groaned, still somewhat embarrassed at the flurry of emotions you attacked the innocent man with. But you humoured the question anyway, “I opened the door and you were standing there, so handsome and so sickeningly charming, holding up flowers that you brought for me. You should be worried if I didn’t cry.”
“Wow,” he whistled. “I’m really that handsome, huh?”
You playfully hit him in the chest with your fist as you resumed your initial position, “Shut up.” A smirk managed to rip it’s way through your lips. “But mostly, I was crying because I was so sad that the flowers were going to die. I don’t know, just weird how my brain works on my period.”
It was a nonchalant mention, nothing big to you, but it stuck to his mind. Flowers dying made you upset. How precious was that? He catalogued the thought, filing it away for the future. The inkling of humour tempted him, though.
“So, not so much on the handsome part?”
You snorted, “Eh, I’ll give it a 60/40.”
“It should be in the news or something. ‘Guy So Handsome, Makes A Grown Woman Cry’” he gestured in the air as if there was a banner.
“How about, ‘Girl So Hormonal, Makes A Grown Man Cry With Her’?”
“Psh, I didn’t cry.”
“You so were.”
“Was not.”
You laughed, thinking he’d given it up when the sound of the movie began to fade into your hearing again.
“You should come over the precinct, tell the guys how I can make the ladies cry just by showing up at their door.”
He wore that goofy, toothy grin you were so accustomed to whenever he was joking around.
You rolled your eyes. Then decided to mess with him. “Excuse me? Ladies? Plural?”
The grin immediately wiped off of his face. “No- I meant lady, as in singular.”
“Mhmm.”
“I mean— no, that’s not what—“
“Sure, Son.” The monotonous voice you used made him sweat.
“You know you’re the only gal for me! I was just joking…hey, baby, come on, look at me…”
———
Months passed by and relationship milestones came and went. You finally met his family on month eight, and him yours. Month ten, you got a promotion at work and thankfully — not by your doing — Todd left the company. Sonny and the rest of the SVU team made a breakthrough on a case, you met his coworkers you heard so much about for the first time when he brought you along for their celebratory dinner. He was teased relentlessly for ‘keeping such a wonderful woman from us all this time’. You enjoyed the camaraderie that they shared with each other, and felt like you won a prize when they extended it to you.
Time passed by you so fast that you barely noticed it was almost a full year since you and Sonny made it official.
The day of your anniversary, he made reservations for the two of you at a fancy restaurant — Italian, of course. You reminisced the journey of your relationship together over some fine dining and a delightful bottle of wine. The ambiance, mixed with the light-headed feeling from one too many glasses of wine, only made the love you had for Sonny so much more emphasised. It was a dream, to be loved by such an amazing man, to have found your soulmate. If you weren’t at such busy points of your career, you’d literally have his babies right then and there. A couple of mini Sonny’s would do the world good, you pondered. Unbeknownst to you, the subject of your thoughts was thinking the exact same thing, only he was dreaming up a babble of mini You’s instead.
Sonny and you walked home together — he had basically moved into your apartment by now, he was finding it harder and harder to be separated from you at night. Having you next to him made him sleep better, and just generally being around you made him feel better — the two of you never made his move-in an official thing, but there was no need to. It was almost like you shared a telepathic connection. Although, Sonny being Sonny, will make the moving in an official thing whether you needed to or not. Maybe into an actual house, with a backyard and a huge kitchen and a family to raise in to make it a home. One day. Maybe even tomorrow. He’d do anything, anytime with you.
“Got you something, by the way.” He grinned, keys jangling on the doorknob as he swung it open for you.
“Sonny, you didn’t have to.” You blushed. One year together and he still had that effect on you.
“Well, I wanted to.”
While you were taking off your shoes, he used it as a distraction to take it out of the hiding spot he so carefully planned — his height being an advantage to said plan — and waddled over in his socks to where you were sitting on the couch, handing it to you once he was sat as well.
It was a daintily patterned gift bag, not too big and not too small either, with a card attached to it on the front. You carefully removed it to read his words in neat handwriting.
Happy 1 year anniversary, doll. I love you so much. You make me the luckiest man alive. My love for you will never die.
You wanted to cry, so touched by his short but undeniably sweet words. He saw how your bottom lip jutted out, the way it usually did when emotions got the best of you, and smiled to himself with a bit of pride in getting his words right.
Slowly, you pried the top of the bag open, only discovering a plastic dome. “Careful.” Your boyfriend noted.
You wondered what it was, going over all the possibilities in your head as you took it out of the bag; lava lamp, necklace, tiny bottle, lantern…only to gasp when you saw what it really was inside.
A small sphere-shaped cactus with a crown of pink flowers, placed inside a white ceramic pot with the words, ‘My love for you will never die’ engraved in cursive writing around it.
Ahhhh, here come the waterworks.
“Sonny,” your eyebrows scrunched up, lips fully pouting now. “This is the sweetest fucking gift ever.”
Your use of words didn’t go unnoticed by the smiling man, earning you a chuckle out of him. “I remember the time you cried when I brought you flowers, and you told me it was because you were sad ‘bout them dying…it’s cheesy, I know. Corny, a bit. But I thought you’d like it.”
The rising inflection of his voice gave away his nerves, but you were quick to make your appreciation known. “I do, I do! It’s just the most beautiful and thoughtful gift anyone’s ever given me. Thank you, baby. I’m- Aw…“
You choked up and he took that as his cue to pull you into his arms, careful to set the prickly plant down so you wouldn’t accidentally get hurt.
“It’s true though, my love will never die. You’re stuck with me for as long as you want me.”
“You know I’m shit at keeping plants alive, Son!” You couldn’t help the wavering in your voice, “Oh, but this is just so, so sweet. You’re just too cute for your own good.”
“Well, I was cute enough for you to accept the babbling guy who asked you out a year ago.” The giggling that followed made his blue eyes seem brighter.
“Yeah, I couldn’t say no to that face.”
You took the comfortable silence that ensued as a segue to your own offering to him, “Speaking of this cactus being put at the risk of dying, I’m gonna have to appoint someone to remind me it needs water every now and then.”
“I’m assuming that would be me?”
“Yup.” You shifted around to look through your purse. “So, I was thinking…”
Sonny narrowed his eyes at you, “Thinking…?”
You held out your palm and reached out for his, dropping a familiar weight into his hands. As soon as you pulled your hands away, the object revealed itself to be a single silver key with a brown leather strap keychain attached to the ring, ‘Det. Carisi’ engraved on one side and ‘Sonny’ on the other.
He looked up at you, meeting eager eyes that matched his own. You were practically bouncing with giddiness, excited to reach yet another milestone.
“Move in with me? Officially?”
God, you were so perfect.
“Abso-fucking-lutely.”

Sonny Carisi: Lucky To Have You
This was inspired by my rewatch of episode 19x8. Amanda was so awful to Sonny. (I’m sorry I’m not a fan of the couple.) This came out of nowhere and wrote itself in two hours. Enjoy xoxo
Warning: Anti-Amanda and anti-Rollisi content.
You plopped down on the chair across from Sonny. His gaze jumped up to you startled out of his thoughts. Sonny had become a regular at the cafe you co-owned. He first ventured in three months prior. You knew he would be trouble and not because of the gun and badge attached to his hip. No, it would be a lot worse kind.
The kind that would leave marks on your already bruised heart.
You had found him attractive as soon as he had walked in and it hadn’t taken long for his personality to make him even hotter. His sassy attitude and genuine care for others were impossible for you to fault. You had instantly formed a crush. You had flirted shamelessly as he had ordered. He was friendly but didn’t seem interested. Over the next few weeks, you found out why as you developed a semblance of a friendship. He had feelings for another girl. She was a cop that he worked with Amanda.
Under normal circumstances, you would have been able to let it go. Then he started looking to you for your opinion on the situation. He told you the nitty gritty of their interactions. You came to a quick calculated conclusion-
Amanda Rollins was totally and completely using him.
It made it so much worse that Sonny was head over heels for her. He wanted to be all in with her and raise her daughter Jesse as his own. You had delicately tried to tell him your opinion but he had transferred the blame of it not going smoothly to himself. You knew he wasn’t ready to hear it and didn’t want to.
You had been there before yourself. So, you lent him a listening ear and let yourself be placed in the friend zone. Sonny was too magnetic to ignore. He made you laugh you’d rather have that as friendship than nothing at all.
He looked so defeated in his seat staring at his sandwich instead of eating it. “You want to talk about it?” His gaze shifts up to you and he shakes his head in frustration.
“I’m just stupid,” You think he isn’t going to continue but he does. Telling you about the work trip with Amanda to pick up a suspect. The late night at the bar, the bar fight, and how it felt so good to feel like he wasn’t just a cop. He had felt a connection with Amanda as they had fought together. He had walked her back to her hotel room thinking she had felt it too. Only to find the next morning that she had slept with the bartender.
You wince sympathetically, “I’m so sorry Sonny.” You touch his forearm, trying to ignore the zaps of electricity, to comfort him. “But you are so much more than a cop.” You look back at the staff you have for the day. It is a good bunch. You redirect your gaze back to him with a bright smile. “Do you have plans for today?” He raised his eyebrow tilting his head as he assessed you.
It had been enough of an agreement. You had led him out to your car urging him into your passenger seat. You let him pick the music and rolled down the windows to enjoy the summer heat. You thought he would ask where you were going but he didn’t. You had just left the city when you finally asked, “Left or right?”
His blue eyes had shined when he directed you left. You guys drove around randomly for hours and Sonny seemed a lot happier. The two of you were talking and changing the music to songs the other had never heard of. You stopped when you realized that you had been out this way before. “Oh, hey I think I know where we are.” Sonny sat up and looked around. He realized he hadn’t been paying attention to where you guys had been going.
“Oh yeah?”
“Yeah, I drove up this way a few months ago.” You glanced at him admitting softly, “It was a bad day.” Sonny didn’t know why that surprised him. Everyone has bad days. But you had always seemed like a constant ray of sunshine. Even when you got frustrated or overwhelmed you always seemed able to laugh it off and keep a smile on your face. “You know we are only a little over three hours from Niagra Falls. I almost went last time when I stopped for lunch a town over and found out where I was.”
“Why didn’t you?” You hummed softly to yourself, tilting your head back and forth in thought.
“I don’t know. I’ve never been there before and it- It just didn’t seem like a place to go when you were sad and alone.”
“Well, you’re not sad or alone right now.” You laughed clicking on your turn signal to head towards the amazing mom and papa diner you had found.
“Yeah okay,” When Sonny didn’t join in your laughter you looked back at him. “You’re not serious- you want to go to the falls today?” Your excitement couldn’t be contained and leeched into your voice. “We’ve already been driving around for almost four hours and it's almost three. We would be home so late tonight.” Sonny just kept smiling at you with a raised eyebrow. You start bouncing in your seat. “Yes, yes, yes! Okay but first, I have to take you to the place with the best breakfast food you will ever eat.”
Sonny ended up taking over driving after he reluctantly agreed that the diner was in fact the best breakfast he had ever had. The rest of the trip was just as lively. It felt like the two of you had fallen into a different level of friendship. The falls were amazing and Sonny let you linger for as long as you wanted. He snapped a few pictures on his phone making a comment about you guys coming back with his camera to take more pictures. You had to remind your over-excited heart that the two of you were just friends.
You stayed until dusk and were ushered out with the park closing. It was late and Sonny was the one who threw out the idea of getting a hotel and starting back in the morning. You agreed, texting your opener that you probably wouldn’t be in until the middle of their shift, and if it got busy to call in the college student who was begging for hours.
It was a cheap hotel that looked like it hadn’t been remodeled since the 60s but was in a safe area. He walked you to your door and thanked you for the trip. There was a lightness back in his blue eyes that made his smile seem even brighter. He was close to you, his body practically brushing yours. You could smell his cologne, rich and musky. It invaded your senses and you would blame that on losing control because Amanda Rollins was a fool and you would be damned if you were going to be one too.
You tilt into him, pressing on your toes to steal a kiss. His lips are soft and taste of coffee. You let the sensations take over you as you drop to your feet. When you finally open your eyes you see him staring at you like a puzzle he can’t figure out. You wonder if you should apologize but that simple kiss was one of the best you have ever had.
His hand cups your cheek as he slowly leans to kiss you again. You smile into the kiss and giggle giddily as he pulls back. His face still shows confusion even with his smile, “Anyone would be lucky to have you, Dominick Carisi.” His blue eyes blaze You turn opening the door. You look back and he is starting to step away- a gentleman as always.
You had always been more demanding.
You grab at his forearm and he pauses. You step back into the room letting your hand slide down until your fingers find his interlocking. Then you pull gently encouraging him forward. He follows you dotingly, the door swinging closed behind him.
