With its short legs perfect for clinging to narrow branches, the #JamaicanTwigAnole highly resembles the #HispaniolaTwigAnole and the #PuertoRicanTwigAnole. DNA-based studies by Jonathan Losos and his colleagues form Washington University, reveal that the adaptations that this #reptiles experienced have #evolved on the separate islands independently. For example, the #JamaicanTwigAnole is more related to the #JamaicanGiantAnole, than similar twig anoles on other islands. #Anoles native to #Jamaica and #Hispaniola are not closely related to parallel specialists on other islands as well.
