cardtober day 17

starting on dwarf planets. I'm also including symbols because they look nice and also help color blind people.

the left symbol is a unique symbol for each object. luckily all planets and dwarf planets, as well as most constellations already have an astrological symbol. although I'm not sure how many other celestial bodies do, so I might have to make more.

the right symbol is for the specific color of the card. if you haven't noticed yet, there are 8 colors and each color will have a unique alchemical symbol. for example, Jupiter, Pegasus, and Pluto are all pink so all three will have this symbol.

day 2 of cardtober

so a bit more info for the thing I'm designing. it's basically gonna be a regular pack of playing cards 2-10,j,q,k,a, but with 8 suits instead of four. and each suit is based off a different element.

idk if I'll make an actual game out of it or not. for right now, it's more of just a fun art project for me.

happy cardtober! this is a new project I'm gonna be working on for the month of October. I'm making a deck of themed playing cards. I don't want to spoil too much at the moment, but there will be 8 cards based on the planets.

here's the first card, for planet earth.

I'm gonna try and post one card a day for all of October, but I might work on it even beyond that if I have the motivation.

cardtober megapost week 3

sorry this is a day late. here's the updated version of this past week's cards. I went back and gave all the cards the symbols in the top corners. I'll post all of them eventually, probably once I finish the moons.

but hopefully you can get a better idea of what I'm talking about with the symbols. I'm using the astrological symbol for all the planets, dwarf planets, and constellations, and an alchemical symbol for each color. both Uranus ans Eris are cyan, so they have the same symbol in the top right. think of the colors as suits of cards. each suit will have 1 planet, 1 constellation, 1 dwarf planets, 1 moon, and probably more, but only one of each type of celestial body. there's not too much of a system beyond that, though. I'm putting looks above gameplay at the moment.

cardtober day 4

I was starting to think that planets every day in a row would be a bit tiring. so I decided to switch it up and make some constellations as well.

like the planets, I plan to have 8 of these for each of the 8 suits. I'm also trying to avoid the zodiac constellations, since 12 doesn't divide into 8 evenly, and I won't want to leave any out.

cardtober megapost week 2

this past week has been super productive. my favorites are absolutely the planets, but I'm also loving how the constellations turned out as well. all three planets were a huge challenge, Saturn especially, and I'm excited to take on more non-sphere shaped objects like dwarf planets or maybe even meteors

again, thank you all for your love and support on my little October project. hopefully one day in the future, this will be a physical card deck you can buy and play with :3
