Ep. 700 - The Biodynamics of the Immune System: Balancing the Energies of the Body with the Cosmo

Note
It's been a while! I've been busy.
So, about Cardozo.I thought it's strange that he was unexpectedly kind (?) and forgiving towards Avila. In my opinion, Avila was a very bad employee. Cardozo should've just gotten rid of him like how it's supposed to be. Except he liked Avila a lot. (Homosexual might be the answer lol)
Some HC/things I noticed that might be interesting.
- He's not that much older than Avila (≈ 6 years). He probably heard about Avila later from the priest. Not the one starting the grooming.
- I imagined that he got to be apostle quite early and younger than other apostles. He's ruthless and arrogant. He didn't get along well with other apostles in general because of different worldview.
- He might be the only apostle that deals with shady bloody businesses. The other apostles might be responsible of other industries, and Cardozo was the one who they went to for dirty jobs like getting rid of their enemy, political dealing, blackmail... It makes sense why others were weary of him because he's not a compliant person and held their secrets. Cardozo in turn felt like the others were ungrateful and stupid.
- What is so special about Avila? Pretty much I think Cardozo saw himself in Avila. Someone who didn't yield to authority and seized the power. Someone crazy and ruthless. Also Avila was a challenge to him personally. (Cardozo enjoyed taming guys lol). He overestimated himself and underestimated Avila's suicidal tendency though.
Apart from that, I think Cardozo had been planning to eradicate other apostles for a long time. It's partly why he wanted Avila so badly and rushed him to be his successor.- Cardozo also went to church to sort his thoughts. He was close to the Priest. (And Linares knew him for a long time as well even with complicated feelings).Imagine priest telling about Avila at first and Cardozo was like... Out of all promising candidates, you prefer him the most? (Doubtful face)
- Cardozo might actually get to meet Avila at the church a few times. Avila just never paid attention to other people there.
- To Avila's credit, even if he seemed to make a ton of mistakes and acted stupid throughout the series. I think he actually kept it together and was efficient before Ybarra's death.
- Cardozo was more like businessman. He might want Avila to take his position because Avila was an experienced hitman. So he could go handle other things.
- What did the organization try to groom Avila for? I feel like they wanted someone empty who would do what's necessary to survive. Not too consumed by greed or violence. Avila almost fit the bill. He's not really greedy.... He worked for money because he had nothing else to work for.. he didn't even know what to do with money he had. Times and times he killed people he cared to survive. But he hated himself and the world too much to go along with being in organization. So he'd rather burn everything down.
I’ve been rewatching the show and God. The way that ávila gets broken down is something so interesting to me. Cardozo who is a little too interested in Ávila who could have easily killed him but let him live. THIS IS SO GOOOOD. You actually are feeding into my delusions on this show thank you thank you.
Ybarra is what broke Ávila first. It’s so interesting because when I was rewatching it Ivan actually tried to save Ybarra from being killed. He tried to reason with Moreira a few times because Ybarra has never made a mistake. Moreira says that there are rules. I wonder if it’s why after Moreira kills himself Ivan is so set on the rules even more so than he was in the first episode.

I hope you don't mind that I put down in words, how wonderful life is while you're in the world.

tell our stories, the sad parts too. it's better when it's true. where do we go when we go? will you remember me? pretend i'm out at sea? or will you trace the skies, watching birds fly by? you will always be my home.

I can’t think about anything but Satine! I close my eyes at night and I see her. I wake up and she’s still there. It’s like she’s haunting me - across the room, in my mind, all the time.
