A ToonBuds playing card design: Starting in the 15th century, names of famous people from history or mythology were assigned to each of the face cards. This tradition survives with the Paris pattern, which you see on playing cards today. ToonBuds would like to add on to this tradition by assigning mythical creatures to the 10 cards. The 10 of clubs is based on the Phoenix, a legendary bird of Greek mythology. Customer Type 3 - Cardists:

the third, and least obvious customer for cards would be cardists. Cardists are people who take a deck of cards and do really col, visual tricks with them. For these types of customers, I could be really creative with the designs because cardistry doesn’t rely on being able to seethe face of the card. In fact, when people do cardisty you can only really see the reverse of the cards.

It would be really easy to do some super creative designs for cards for these customers, and cardistry is entirely visual, the whole point is that it looks cool, and that gives you a lot of creative freedom to experiment with different outcomes. 

One thing I have noticed about the cards used by cardists is the fact that they tend be very geometric and modern. I guess this is because when cardists are performing they want to make sure the audience doesn’t have too much to look at at one point. The cards also tend to have a focal point in the middle of the card, which I’d assume would be for two reasons: to draw the audiences eye to the cards and to make sure the cards don’t all blend together and you can still distinguish the cards from one another.

If I was to make cards meant for cardists I would make them really interesting to look at, so that it would elevate the performance. I wouldn’t have to worry about how clear the cards are or how easy they are to distinguish, because the point is to make it visually appealing.

[Cardistry] 新年悶到玩手指？一張啤牌就玩到的兩個小花式

Cardistry是由 "card" 和 "artistry" 這兩個字結合而成，是一種運用啤牌(扑克牌)的表演藝術。Cardisty是個新字，以前稱為Card Flourish。中文一般會稱為花式切牌(簡稱花切)，有時會使用「紙牌花式藝術」，不過很少人使用。筆者覺得目前還沒有一個簡潔易明又貼切的譯名對應 Cardistry。

今天介紹兩段Cardistry的教學短片，讓大家練成之後可以在親友面前隨便露兩手XD~

第一段是 Pirouette 指尖轉牌。 以中指作支點，然後用食指轉動啤牌。

第二段��� Flick 單手射牌。 用拇指食指相交然後夾著啤牌，再把兩隻手指打開把牌射出。
