Choosing Your Mountain Bicycle Parts
Article by-Choate Bass One of the first things that people consider when they purchase a bicycle is the kind of biking wheels to buy. If you are brand-new to the sporting activity and also are taking into consideration buying a bike, then your initial priority will certainly be whether you want to go with roadway bike wheels or mtb wheels. Roadway bikes are usually fitted with steel edges, while mountain bicycle often tend to have carbon rims. Although there are pros and cons to both kinds, it is normally the instance that carbon wheels are lighter and are as a result simpler to repair if something breaks. However, carbon is likewise far more pricey and hence you may not have the ability to utilize them as frequently.
youtube
So what do you require to find out about selecting the ideal wheels? For a start, you must know that carbon fiber wheels show and also heat away light. This makes them ideal for anybody that wishes to ride quick as well as also for those that such as to ride on a lengthy trip. Carbon fiber also enables the wheels to be stiffer as well as hence take care of better, which is specifically what you require if you intend on riding a far away in your day to day flights. If simply click the next internet site are going for road surfaces, then you must actually choose hardtail carbon wheels with a steel or light weight aluminum rim. These edges are stiffer, yet are also lighter and so they make the best total combination for road surface areas. The reason why you see a few of the pros selecting these over the others is because these deal great performance and that without costing a lot of money. On the other hand, if you are trying to find downhill, smooth ride which without the danger of obtaining a flat tire, after that you ought to choose a pair of windy conditions carbon wheels. If you live in a gusty setting, after that you understand exactly how annoying these can be as well as this is where these remarkable wheels can aid you the most. With the help of these, you will certainly not have to stress over getting a level tyre or a minimum of, you will certainly have a simpler time avoiding them. The larger the diameter of the wheel, the better it is as a wider wheel permits the air circulation to move more quickly over the surface area of the wheel as well as thus gives better hold. With such features, you will find yourself appreciating your ride far more. When it pertains to mtb wheels, you can opt for a set that supplies you a two-piece layout along with a full finishing touch. The two piece style allows the inner edge to have a snug fit rather than the complete clincher layout that provides a much larger location in which to deal with. This ensures that your feet do not glide around inside the footwear, which can be fairly hazardous when riding in damp and also slippery conditions. The inner rim additionally aids to maintain your skin completely dry when it is raining or when the ground is slippery due to dew. Thus, if you plan on mountain biking in these sort of problems, the two piece and full finishing touch collections are most definitely the method to go. Tubeless Tubes: Lastly, you can choose tubeless tires when it concerns mountain bicycle wheels. Tubeless tyres are extremely durable as well as will certainly give you with the most effective in terms of leak resistance. However, they call for a deeper layer of foam on the inner tube to serve as an obstacle against air pressure that could trigger the wheel to put on prematurely. In this instance, alpinist clx wheels together with their carbon wheels use you a terrific combination of attributes. These are two of the most effective sorts of cycling wheels presently available in the marketplace. If triathlon carbon wheels review have a fairly light mountain bike, after that you must choose the light weight aluminum Alpinist clX wheelset. However, if you are intending on participating in hard and severe sports like downhill biking as well as auto racing, then you will need to obtain your hands on a carbon fiber oval aluminium set of wheels. Both of these kinds of wheels supply piece de resistance as well as are extremely resilient. You can choose between both based on your spending plan and also personal preferences. https://canvas.instructure.com/eportfolios/272871/Home/Picking_Your_Mountain_Bicycle_Elements , Tyres and also Rim Tape: You must likewise consider rim tape when selecting your wheels and tyres. Rim tape is a tiny sticky strip that provides you with additional grip as well as is generally positioned on top of the tyre's side. This assists you to prevent your tyres from slipping off the rim in addition to preventing them from getting punctures.

Awesome information for someone looking to get into chassis building Awesome information for someone looking to get into chassis building. Takes an elementary approach to explaining the physics and engineering of racing chassis and, while not expressly detailed, applicable to offroad builders too! Go to Amazon
Thorough and very detailed tutorial, not a "designers' handbook". This book makes it easy to understand the fundamentals of chassis geometry and dynamics. Go to Amazon
Very Useful Book This is a very useful book that provides some valuable insights on how to improve the handling of your street car or race car. It is readable, understandable information that cuts through the speed market crap about how to get real handling performance without creating a powered rock. Some of the changes I was planning probably would have had little performance effect but really hurt the cars ride. The book is a little dated but basics don't change and that understanding is key. My only wish was there would have been a little more info on shock tuning. Go to Amazon
A great look at different chassis design This book goes into detail about custom chassis design. Specifically chassis made out of steel or aluminum tubing (space frame). Chapters are broken up into category of chassis design which shows and explains the strengths/weaknesses of each type of design. There is a somewhat negative tone about sprint car chassis design throughout the book, pretty much everything you shouldn't do when designing a chassis for safety and strength. Throughout the book they mention over and over again the importance of geometric shapes and designing to the strengths of each shape. The last chapter is about composite chassis (carbon fiber/fibreglass/kevlar). Overall I feel I have learned a great deal about designing a custom chassis and I feel fairly confident at actually getting to the point of creating my very own. Go to Amazon
I am a beginning hot rod builder and maybe not the best rater based on my "one of a kind" build Book is okay. I am a beginning hot rod builder and maybe not the best rater based on my "one of a kind" build, however I found the major focus to be on race cars. as for building your own chassis, they "push" you to buy one done. I am dead set on doing it myself because I am using c4 rear corvette suspension and c5 front. there is no way around building my own. This book was only so helpful in my application. Go to Amazon
Great book if you are sereiosuly into cars and want ... Great book if you are sereiosuly into cars and want to start to understand how all of the components work. Unfortunately that's as far as it goes, this book does not go so far into depth that you will be able to desgin your own setup. However it is a great introduction. Go to Amazon
Great book for someone thinking about building his own race car. I bought several books which all gave valuable information on designing and building a race car. But this one to me was the most useful. It explains in simple terms everything on which the other books loose the practical approach and go into theory that is hard to apply. Go to Amazon
Written in 1992, so it is really out of ... Written in 1992, so it is really out of date, OK for beginners, but same stuff is on the Net for free. I'm just a hot rodder, but it was mostly old hat to me. Go to Amazon
Title is misleading and errors found in book. Keep looking, there's plenty of good books on this topic. Five Stars Five Stars Short chapters (6-8 pages) that just touch on subjects. ... Blue Oval vs. Ferrari: The Rematch
Peruse the 2018 Ford vehicles website, and you’ll see a range of relatively affordable, fairly conventional wheels: Fusion sedan (“from $22,120”), C-Max Energi SE hybrid ($27,120), Explorer SUV ($31,990), F-250 Super Duty pickup ($32,820)—you know, normal stuff. But under the “Performance Vehicles” link, you’ll find a low, lean missile labeled Ford GT. Base price: $453,750.
No, someone on Ford’s web team did not accidentally tack on a digit. The Dearborn, Michigan, automaker really does sell a two-seat supercar that’s more than 10 times the price of almost everything else the company builds.
Way back in the fall of 2003, I had the opportunity to track test a prototype of what would become the 2005 Ford GT street car—a stunning, road-legal homage to the GT40 racing machines that conquered Le Mans (and the might of Ferrari) four times in a row starting in 1966. Despite its artful aluminum bodywork and 550-horsepower supercharged V-8, that original GT was still something of a bargain, starting at “only” $139,995.
For its all-new version, Ford has taken the mid-engine GT formula and cranked it straight to 11. Actually, to 15—right where Ferrari lives. I wish I could’ve been in the Ford product-planning meeting that approved this norms-shattering provocateur.
Big-dreams engineer: “We’re thinking a lightweight carbon monocoque wearing scissor doors and a carbon-fiber body that looks like it was designed at Area 51, a 647-horsepower twin-turbocharged V-6, chassis engineering straight from the racetrack, and Ferrari-crushing performance with a top speed of around, say, 216 miles per hour.”
Trembling bean counter: “Uh, whaddaya think all that’ll cost?” “We figure no more than $450,000. Tops.”
Bean counter: “Please tell me this is April 1.”
Yet against all dream-diluting corporate logic, Ford execs actually said “fine” to most of the wild ideas bandied about for the new GT. Ol’ Henry Ford never would’ve believed it: “Four hundred and fifty thousand dollars?! What’s the damn thing made of, Van Gogh paintings?” But the GT does exist, and I finally got to drive it—on a spectacular mountain road and on the track. You know how when you stand in the ocean surf all day you can still feel the waves even hours later? Well, days after my drive in Ford’s new g-generator, my insides are still wobbling like a nervous Jell-O mold.
Up close, the GT is an intimidating, knife-edged beast—a Gillette Mach 3 on wheels. The rear buttresses look like they could suck you in and churn you up like a jet engine. The round outboard taillights and round central exhausts resemble four howitzer tubes ready to open fire on any vehicle dimwitted enough to come within range. Under the rear glass lies the stupendous motor, humorously wearing EcoBoost branding. Really? What’s so “eco” about an EPA city/highway rating of 11/18 mpg? (Will any GT buyer even care?)
I’ve driven supercars of every stripe, from Corvette ZR1s and Vipers to Lambos and monster Ferraris. The GT feels like none of them. The cockpit is tight and surprisingly narrow (you’ll bump elbows with your passenger). With helmet on, I had to bend my 6-foot self forward to fit under the roof. The character isn’t street car, it’s race car.
Fire up the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V-6, and race car is all you’ll be thinking. On the road, the engine machine-guns your ears under throttle and spits and crackles when you lift off. On the track, with a helmet on, the furor is only slightly lessened; the carbon-fiber body acts like a giant megaphone. But, da-yum, is the GT fast. It’s ferocious in a straight line, yes, but more so you notice the fleetness of its chassis. The GT doesn’t like powering through turns. It prefers to be set up straight before going back on the juice. But get it right, and the speed is blinding. The steering is light and direct, the seven-speed dual-clutch shifter a brilliant accompanist. Switch from Sport to Track mode, and the chassis instantly drops 2 inches while the shocks go full firm. Like I said: race car.
The new Ford GT is gorgeous, wicked, insanely potent, and unashamedly raw. I still can’t believe the maker of Fusions and Tauruses actually built a car this extravagant, this outré. But I guess history does repeat itself. Pass the earplugs. Time to party like it’s 1966.

Great book for someone thinking about building his own race car. I bought several books which all gave valuable information on designing and building a race car. But this one to me was the most useful. It explains in simple terms everything on which the other books loose the practical approach and go into theory that is hard to apply. Go to Amazon

Highlights from the Paris Air Show
At the 52nd Paris Air Show this past June, composite materials played a significant role.
The Boeing Company declared that a proposed New Midsize Airplane would include both a composite fuselage and composite wings. The fuselage tube would be a blended composite with an uncommon cross-sectional shape (neither circular or oval).
Workhorse Group Inc., manufacturer of the Horsefly package delivery drone, which United Parcel Services recently tested, debuted a Surely helicopter concept. The helicopter is intended for short commercial journeys, emergency responders, the military and perhaps city commute. Test flights are scheduled for later this year. The fuselage, propeller arms and propellers will be constructed with carbon fiber composite materials.
Other companies announced partnerships to supply thermoplastic composite materials on aircrafts.
Ecomass Technologies
For nearly twenty years, Ecomass Technologies has pioneered solutions through advanced non-toxic composite materials, engineered thermoplastics, and high gravity compounds.
Composite materials are compounds of two or more material components with different physical and chemical properties. The subsequent composite material then has characteristics that are separate and distinct from the initial materials. The composite can be used and applied across multiple industries. Examples of composite materials include building cement and engineered thermoplastics.
High gravity compounds deliver the weight and physical properties of metal with the design and manufacturing advantages of injection molded plastics.
Lead has been banned as an additive in motor fuels and regulations impact its use in every industry, especially aeronautics, not just in the United States, but also in Europe and in many other countries.
Ecomass Technologies’ nontoxic composite materials, engineered thermoplastics, and high gravity compounds can take the place of metals in aircrafts and other machinery.
Ecomass Technologies has worked with industry and government to overcome physical property and material challenges to meet application needs. Its skill, experience, and expertise allow its customers the freedom to concentrate on form and function, while it solves problems.
Ecomass Technologies solves the material challenges its products face. Its goal is to provide its customers with the highest-performance and lowest-cost materials and let them compete and fully function in their respective markets.
All of Ecomass Technologies’ Compounds meet the EU RoHS Directives, are 100% lead free, and contain no toxic constituents or U.S. EPA hazardous materials. They also comply with the Dodd-Frank Act, Section 1502.
If you have a special requirement, contact Ecomass Technologies today. It has probably already solved it

How to Choose Your Badminton Racket
History suggests that games involving shuttlecocks have been played for many years now. It was however recorded, that a modern version of badminton was introduced by the British during the mid-19th century, as a variant of the aforementioned earlier game. Since then, the activity has undergone a several name change from battledore and shuttlecock to Poona or Poonah before finally reaching Badminton. It is important to note, that it was during the Poona era that the game was assigned its first rules of play. A revised version of the rules took place around the 1890s.
Badminton is a sport played using rackets to hit a shuttlecock across a net. The standard forms of the sport are "singles" and "doubles". That is, with one player per side and with two players per side respectively. The game is usually played as an informal outdoor activity. However, the formal activities replayed on an indoor court. The game was improved from the earlier sport called battledore and shuttlecock; and has become extremely notable in Asia with China in the leads. Consequently, the sport is seen to have been represented in Summer Olympic sport with five events since 1992. Just like most games, badminton is gender unbiased. It is played by both sexes and enjoyable at that.
Just as a glove is important to a goalkeeper or a boot to a soccer player, so is a racket to the badminton player. One cannot do without the other; and the efforts of the player on the playing field lies passably in the durability of playing aids (gloves, boots, rackets etc.). Let’s talk a bit about what a racket is. It is usually, if not supposed to be, feather light weighing preferably between 75 to 90grams. It consists of a netting stretched in a mostly oval opening leading to a shaft or a handle. The handle is joined directly to the frame of netting to enhance firm gripping and accelerate swings to ensure precision in delivery. Quite identifiable with the tennis racket in appearance and use but very distinct in its purpose and application. The badminton racket is made up of a variety of materials ranging from carbon fiber to solid steel. Some of these materials may be augmented by many different substances. However, carbon fiber is excellent in momentum transfer because of its outstanding strength to weight ratio. It is able to transfer an appreciable amount of kinetic energy to the shuttlecock to an expected result. Before the introduction of carbon fiber integration, badminton rackets were made from wood or lighter metals such as aluminum. But currently, in the light of materials (nano materials to be more precise) such as carbon nano tubes, a more durable commodity than the former are being produced. It is, therefore, a prerequisite to highlight the thoughts one puts in choosing a badminton racket. A very good racket can make all the difference. There are basically four valid indicators to look out for in choosing your badminton racket. They are:the weight of the racket, the balance point, the string tension and the hand grip. These tried and tested pointers guide you in a calculated decision when buying a racket.
The weight of the racket as early on explained should fall within a particular range; but the ideal weight, recommended for beginners is 85g to 90g. Badminton rackets which fall within this range have a lower balance point (point 2) to be precise. They are usually very easy to control to ensure steady serves and quick recovery. The rackets which fall within this range creates a fine balance for you to be able to deliver quick serves and alternate your strokes with much ease and flexibility. Emphasis is placed on weight because it tends to affect the balance; and if there is a disturbance in that region, one is susceptible to spraining his or her wrist. But with the required weight, it’s easier on the wrist and shoulders with guaranteed minimized chances of injuries.
On the other hand, in light of the above, experienced players may go in for heavier badminton rackets which have higher balance points than the feather light ones. This simply means, the racket is heavier at the head and lighter at its handle. This type of racket is not for everyone since it is difficult to use because of its weight;thereby, recommended for mostly seasoned players. When you take a look at the shuttlecocks, it is feathered in nature and flies very differently from balls used in a variety of game or sport. Particularly, the feathers tend to create a much higher obstruction causing it to halt more rapidly. In retrospect, in using such rackets for badminton, you have to channel much power in your smashes to ensure the expected result.
Thirdly, the tension of the racket comes into question when choosing one. It is tested by pressing your palm firmly but gently against the strings to see how far it sinks. Usually, a 1mm sunken depth of the strings is the beau ideal tension for a lot of players. If you happen to channel great force into your strokes, you will require a much higher tension for your racket strings. For amateurs, 22 - 23 lbs.is a good tension, to begin with. Bear in mind that, tension standards vary across regions. This is due to how temperature affects string tensions – generally, higher racket tensions are recommended to individuals living in regions with higher temperatures as strings tend to enlarge under such conditions.
Lastly, distinct racquets have varied playing characteristics that appeal to different players. The conventional oval head shape is still available, but an isometric head shape is growing rapidly among the new racquets. But it is important to note the two paramount factors that affectthe grip of a racket - its type and size. There are two types of badminton grips - towel and synthetic. Towel grips are softer and excellent in retaining sweat or moisture. This trait helps one keep a steady and firm grip on the racket at all times. However, this makes them liable to a buildup of germs and bacteria. Because of this, towel grips will demand constant replacement compared to synthetic grips. On the other hand, synthetic grips are smooth and sleek. Its plastic nature gives it a slicker feel and less messy outlook. Nevertheless, this makes them uncomfortable to use due to its inability to absorb moisture or sweat. In times of a heated game, where sweat cannot be avoided, the synthetic grip disadvantages the player. However, because of this feature, germs and bacterial infection is avoided.
Talking about the sizes, most racket grips come in four sizes. Bigger grips are valued than smaller ones by players who prefer a tighter feel to induce more power. On another hand, players who want to introduce the art of deception to their style of play will go for the smaller ones instead; since it’s easier to handle and maneuver.
Conclusively, badminton as a sport requires spectacular fitness: players need aerobic stamina, strength, speed, and more importantly, precision. It is also a technical sport like any other, requiring good motor coordination and application and lastly, the development of refined racket maneuvers or movements. With this in mind, the essence of acquiring the right badminton racket cannot be overemphasized.
