As with all of the vehicles built for Australian road use, they are designed to withstand Australian conditions and can be driven on our roads without any problems.
Are The OEM Towbars Covered Under Warranty Should They Need Repairs? Yes, all OEM towbars are covered by the manufacturer’s warranty, and it is up to the manufacturer to fix or replace these. The same is true for any towbar or accessory. You can rest assured knowing that your aftermarket towbar supplier will stand behind their products and offer you a warranty for any repairs needed on these and for changes in the design of the towbar over time provided it has not been towing over the recommended weight the bar is designed to tow.

Carasel has towbar installation services in Sydney in two easy to get to locations in Moorebank and Seven Hills. Both sites have fitting bays and fully qualified fitters who can install for you while you wait onsite.
The Basics of Towbar Installation - What is a Towbar?
Towbars are a mechanism that connects a vehicle to a trailer. They are able to tow all the kind of trailers from caravans, car trailers, box trailers and horse floats. When you begin looking for a towbar the first thing you need to do is to make sure the vehicle you own is able to tow the type of trailer you are planning on using with it. Carasel Towbars have a several types of towbars and the team will take the time to discuss with you the load you plan on towing, the vehicle that you own and how frequently you plan on using the towbar system. We are proud of the fact we have the ability to manufacture towbars onsite, as this cuts down the costs of freighting them in for sale which benefits the customers as they pass on the savings through our own branding.
Why Are There Different Types OF Towbars?
There are different kinds of towbars for towing, they come in different sizes, shapes and weights. People often have no idea what all these different kinds mean they just assume a towbar is just that, a towbar! The Carasel team will assist you and getting your choice right the first time.
Fixed Flange Towbar
A Fixed Flange Towbar is used for towing a trailer. The tow ball is bolted to the towbar with either 2 or 4 bolts and the towbar can be used for mounting accessories like bike carriers, bumper protectors and stabilisers. The fixed flange towbars are generally made from steel or aluminium and they are designed to install once, and to remain on the vehicle until you need to tow again.
Detachable Flange Towbar
The Detachable Flange Towbar can be fitted onto the back of any vehicle, making it a very versatile towbar. It works on the same concept as the fixed flange tow bar, but the plus side of this tow bar is that it can be removed. The neck of the tow bar can be easily removed by using the lock and key mechanism. This type of towbar is made up of two parts, the towbar and the detachable flange. The detachable flange is mounted to the rear bumper bar of your car and held together with 2 or 4 bolts.
How Long Should It Take To Fit A Towbar?
On an average it takes between two to four hours to install a towbar. Things needed to factor into this time includes the size of the vehicle and the parts that are being fitted. This includes the install time and fitting the electrics. It also includes the actual installation of the towbar and fixing the leaks.
Will A Towbar Fit My Car?
Carasel Towbars provide a towbar that is custom made to fit your vehicle without any issues. In fact, we will take the time and measure your vehicle to ensure the towbar is fitted correctly, making sure it provides maximum safety. This is the benefit of choosing a local, Australian, family-owned company that also manufactures onsite. If there isn't a towbar available for your vehicle today, there's a very good chance that by tomorrow we will have one manufactured towbar and available to install.
Is There Any Other Things I Can Use My Towbar For?
Yes, you absolutely can, the towbar is perfectly safe to use once installed. many people forget that towbars are just not for towing. They can be used for fitting a bike carrier to transport bikes, getting the kids away from screens and out and about in the great outdoors.
How Much Does It Cost To Install A Towbar?
When installing a towbar on a vehicle it is not something that is recommended you can do alone in the driveway, nor was it ever intended to be a DIY project. Installing a towbar alone is a huge safety risk, not only is it a very heavy item that may require drilling to fit bolts or wiring it into the vehicle, but it also weighs considerably more than one person should not be lifting alone. Installing a towbar requires the experience of a trained mechanic or towbar fitter who is an expert in their field. Installation cost for towbars varies as it depends on the type and size of towbar chosen and the model and size of the car. Fitting a towbar to a truck will cost more than if it was being installed onto a smaller sedan. The cost also depends on how much work is involved. If installed at Carasel onsite at either of our two locations, it is cheaper than a mobile fit where an installer comes out to you.
Do I Really Need A Towbar On My Vehicle?
Installing a towbar is often not a decision that is made lightly. There are many things you need to consider and carefully think about. The cost of the tow bar and installation for one is something that can be a costly investment and one you need to think about how often it will be used. The cost also hinders on what kind of towbar you are thinking of buying. There are several different kinds of towbars and the one that may be best for you depends on the current vehicle you own and what you intend to tow with it. If you do not think you will be using it regularly then it becomes a very costly investment.
Carasel Towbars welcomes anyone interested in getting a price on a towbar to call into either of our locations for a quote. REASONS YOU NEED TO INVEST IN A TRAILER
Having your own trailer to tow is a good resource to have. It can save you money in delivery fees and an affordable way to remove any unwanted rubbish to the tip or recycle centre that won’t fit in the car. It is also handy when you want to move heavy-duty car parts and machinery, tools, or go on a weekend camping trip with the family. Trailers come in several different sizes, depending on your requirement or the industry you work in, there is several options for a trailer to suit your work needs. A trailer can handle anything which needs to be moved from one place to another.
If you are thinking of buying a trailer, there are a few guidelines that you should follow so you can get the most out of your investment. Carasel recommend that you consider what you are planning on using the trailer for, what your vehicle's towing capacity is, and will the vehicle remain a comfortable drive when you tow the trailer.
Convenient All-Purpose Tool
The benefits of trailers are quite endless, as they have many uses. One of the most common uses of a trailer is transporting items from the home that you are not able to carry in your vehicle like pavers, soil, bark and plants for landscaping. The other most common use would be camping where you can load up the tent, fridge, chairs, bikes and sleeping bags and head off with the family on a weekend away. They are also perfect for when you have that household clean out and head to the tip or recycle centre.
Some industries also require a trailer for work purposes like builders, landscapers, lawn mowing specialists, the list is endless.
Convenient, All-Purpose Resource
Before you buy a trailer however, there are a few trailer buying tips you should consider as it is a item that will last you many years and also serve many purposes. What is the largest load you are likely to use the trailer to transport? What is the towing capacity of the vehicle and your towbar? If you are unsure, you can find these in the manufacturer book of the vehicle and check your towbar.
You should think of all the places you will use the trailer. Camping, holidays where you don't want to overload the inside of the vehicle if you have children, so the trip is relaxed and comfortable. It is also great for transporting oversized boxes you may purchase from the shops like furniture, outdoor settings etc. There are always times when it is so convenient to own a trailer.
Cost Effective Investment
Trailers are extremely cost effective as they have multiple usages. Comparing costs of buying a ute that has the tub at the back but isn't always that practical if you have a family, a trailer has more uses and can be stored from one use to the next. Trailers are very cheap to register and insure on a yearly basis.
Maintenance on a trailer is also cost effective. Carasel, your local Sydney based trailer manufacturers also service trailers. You have the sound knowledge when you buy from them you can also return to have the trailer serviced. We check your tyres, bearings, suspension, brakes, wiring, along with wear and tear on the trailer in general. Overall, the most important part of a trailer that you need to pay attention to is the wheels. Firstly, the tyre pressure, you can just fill as needed and kook for wear and tear on the tyres. If you use the trailer regularly you need to check the tread for wear and tear.
Work Trailer Buying Tips
Planning on using your new trailer for work purposes? Well then, there's a few things you need to think about. Firstly, you need to determine the load capacity that your vehicle can tow. There is no point in going all out and buying a huge trailer if once you fill it your vehicle can't tow it. Overloading the engine will also force the vehicle to work way to hard and the consequences are the possibility that the vehicle overheats or over time you burn the engine out and need to replace it or buy a bigger vehicle!
Carasel have trailers we construct onsite and will have one to suit your needs for your business needs. Should you not be able to find one for your specific needs, feel free to ask us, the chances are we can accommodate your needs and build one specifically for you. If you are not sure exactly what you are after, come to one of our sites and speak to our friendly team. We can work with you to ensure that your requirements are fully met and that the trailer you look at purchasing will fit your needs for the type of industry you are in.
Best Practices When Loading and Towing
When you purchase your trailer, it is important you fully understand how to hitch it onto your vehicle so that when you use it you know it is completely secure. When loading the trailer make sure you always load from the centre, this ensures that the weight is distributed evenly across the trailer. Take the trailer for a few drives when you first get it to make sure you have a good feel for how the vehicle tows with it attached. This is a good opportunity to make sure you have a feel for how wide you need to make your turns and how soon you need to brake when needing to stop! Once you load it you will have a better understanding of how to drive with it on the vehicle.

ARE YOU SURE YOUR CARAVAN OR TRAILER IS READY FOR DEPARTURE?
Are You Sure Your Caravan Is Travel Ready? Just like checking your car regularly you should also pay attention to your caravan or trailer and make sure it is safe to take out. When you don't use these things regularly on a daily basis you need to be aware of some important things you have to ensure are in working order before hooking up to the car and loading up.
What Are The Things I Should Check? Many people forget that there are regular things you need to maintain and if you are not vigilant in checking regularly on things like wear and tear and tyre pressure then there is a chance that things can perish overtime or even lose tyre pressure.
Is There A Checklist to Go By? The answer is yes. Most manufacturers like Carasel or mechanics will recommend a range of safety things you need to check before heading off.
Before Every Trip, You Should Check The Following
The vehicle and trailer are roadworthy
All tyres are properly inflated
The trailer’s wheel bearings, suspension, and brakes work properly
All lights work and safety chains are properly connected
Oil, water, brake fluid, battery, and other service checks have been done on the vehicle.
During each trip
At regular intervals during the trip, check that:
Couplings, all doors, hatches, covers, and any load or equipment are still properly secured
Tyres are still properly inflated and not rubbing on suspension or body work.
If travelling to another State, check with the relevant roads authority whether there are different rules.
By following this Caravan/Trailer Departure Checklist you should ensure that your caravan or trailer will be ready to go when heading out and about. This can save you time and money by planning ahead and minimising frustration in getting out on the road.

Have You Loaded Your Trailer/Caravan Evenly? When towing either a Caravan or Trailer there are some important tips, you need to ensure you do in order to maintain a level weight to make towing a safe and pleasurable drive for you and your passengers.
Spread the load evenly across the floor or base of the caravan or trailer and keep it as low as possible to contain the centre of gravity If your load in the trailer is smaller than the trailer itself, move the load as far to the front of the trailer as possible. Avoid loads in the trailer that stick out wider than your trailer and the tow vehicle. Avoid loads that are much longer than the trailer as this could impact the handling of your vehicle and the way it handles on the road. Long or heavy loads can make the trailer sway uncontrollably and become a major risk to you and other road users. Secure the load taking into account wind and forces caused by accelerating, braking, and turning. Make sure the caravan has an even spread of your load including chairs, luggage, gazebos, etc. as this can cause an uneven weight when you hook up and begin to tow your caravan to its destination. Check the weight distribution hitch. When connected to the tow vehicle correctly this will prevent the sagging that you can often see caused by the weight of an uneven load on the road. Check your tow ball for wear and tear. Is the tow ball in good condition, has it started to corrode if it does not have a tow ball cover on it when not in use? If this is the case, you can call into either of our two retail stores in Sydney and our team at Carasel can get you back on the road with a new tow ball.
Finally, Once Ready For Getting Out On The Open Road And Towing, Have You Remembered The Laws On Towing? Each state and territory have their own set of regulations regarding towing, and it is your responsibility to make sure you are aware of these. Whether you are towing a trailer or caravan there are sets of rules you need to abide by.
It is your responsibility to make sure you are compliant when towing anything in NSW or you risk significant fines.
Current rules state:
You must not tow more than one trailer at a time'
You must not have any person sitting in the trailer or caravan that you are towing at any time
You must secure and cover your load, making sure that nothing overhangs at any time.
Learner and Provisional P1 drivers have towing restrictions: Learner drivers and learner and provisional motorcycle riders are NOT ALLOWED to tow at any time.
P1 car licence holders can tow a small trailer up to 250kg of unloaded weight.
You must always be careful and completely aware of vehicles around you when towing a trailer or caravan. If you feel you need more knowledge and skills than normal driving, you can book in and attend a driving course for towing at various places around the Sydney area. You can be fined and loose demerit points when towing incorrectly and this falls on you as the driver for not being fully aware of the things you need to do and follow when you are in control of the tow vehicle.
If at any time you have questions on towing or feel you need to get your caravan or trailer checked, feel free to book in to Carasel. Our team is always ready to service and check your caravan or trailer to ensure you and your passenger’s safety on the open road.
