They went into effect this week. On October 29, updated rules for paying scrap duty came into force in Russia, the rates of which for imported cars increased from August 1. Russians who import cars for resale also risk paying this fee in the amount of more than 800 thousand rubles. From August 1, the recycling rate for a car with an engine capacity of 2 to 3 liters increased to 844 thousand rubles, for a vehicle with an engine capacity of 3 to 3.5 liters - to 970 thousand rubles, and for a vehicle with an engine capacity of more than 3.5 liters, 5 liters – up to 1.25 million rubles. If a car is imported into the territory of a Customs Union country by an individual, then for cars with an engine capacity of up to 3 liters and electric vehicles there is a preferential rate of only 3,400 rubles. Not everyone can receive such a benefit. If it turns out that a car purchased by a private individual abroad and registered in his name in Russia was resold by him within 12 months from the date of initial registration, this will be considered a commercial activity. Now, when buying a car, you can lose 844 thousand rubles. Details about the new rules car In this case, you will have to pay the difference in the recycling fee for individuals or legal entities: For a car with an engine capacity of up to 1 liter, the difference will be 77,800 rubles; For a car with an engine capacity of 1-2 liters - 302,600 rubles; For a car with an engine capacity of 2-3 liters - 841,400 rubles; For an electric car - 356,600 rubles. There is another trap: the same surcharge is due to the fact that within 12 months from the date of registration of the first car, he imported into the country and registered another car. According to the law, it is considered that a car is imported not for personal, but for commercial purposes. Failure to pay the fee is grounds for cancellation of the electronic PTS, that is, operation of the vehicle will become impossible.

The word “Lada” disappeared from the name Once upon a time, this enterprise, located in St. Petersburg, was called Nissan Manufacturing RUS and produced Nissan cars. After Nissan left Russia, the plant was transferred to AvtoVAZ and renamed Lada St. Petersburg. And recently the company was once again renamed: now it is called “Avtozavod St. Petersburg”. As you can see, the word “Lada” has disappeared from the name. Why? [caption id="attachment_81320" align="aligncenter" width="780"] AvtoVAZ[/caption] No more Lada. St. Petersburg AvtoVAZ plant was renamed due to sanctions It turned out because of sanctions. The situation was explained by auto expert and host of the Telegram channel “Russian Automobile” Sergei Tsyganov. “ I was told that employees of the Lada St. Petersburg (formerly Nissan) plant have for some time been prohibited from using this name in business correspondence. Because it contains the sanctioned word Lada. This was especially true for correspondence with the Chinese, in which it was ordered to replace the name with something neutral, such as “our factory”. This couldn't go on for long, of course. And so the plant was renamed. Now no Lada. The plant is called simply: "Automobile Plant St. Petersburg." The legal entity is also called ,” said Sergei Tsyganov. He also added: “ One of the workers wrote to me that “everything is secret, everyone is afraid, the fate of the plant is in question.” However, preparations for Chery production continue ." Let us recall that earlier the head of AvtoVAZ, Maxim Sokolov, said that the St. Petersburg plant will be fully operational in 2024 .

For $3200 An Australian student has just won a prestigious award for his conversion kit, which can turn internal combustion engine cars into hybrids at a meager cost. He claims that its design allows for bolt-on installations to be completed in one day. The issue price is only $3,200. [caption id="attachment_73709" align="aligncenter" width="780"] cars[/caption] The auto industry is moving toward electrification, but the challenge of reducing carbon emissions is here to stay. ICE cars, which existed before and even during the transition to green cars, are not going away anytime soon. The startup Rapid Electric Vehicle Retrofits will offer owners the opportunity to electrify their cars for a small fee. According to Alexander Burton of the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, the key to its success is its special pancake-shaped axial flux motor. It bolts to the wheel hub and has a rotating plate between the brake rotor and the wheel. Burton says each engine can produce 67 hp. A student has invented a cheap way to convert cars with internal combustion engines into hybrids He's testing a prototype in his Toyota Corolla - the motors are mounted to the rear wheels, and the "standard battery" with a capacity of 15 kWh is located where the spare tire would normally be. At the same time, the power reserve on all-electric traction is about 100 km. https://youtu.be/uKVVpbvDMN0 During the tests, the system was not connected to the internal combustion engine at all, but it could operate simultaneously to reduce the amount of fuel burned by the engine. In full EV mode, the system will keep the 12-volt battery charged and power the lights, air conditioning, etc. However, Burton needs to refine some parts of the design.
