You sat in the back of the town car as it slowly pulled up to the front door of the Park Central Hotel. After a long day of travel, you were glad to finally make it to your final destination. Upon realization of where you were staying, things slowly started kicking in that this wasnât a dream, but this hotel was one place that you only dreamed of staying at. There were plenty of times in the past that you walked past this place, hoping to see someone famous walk out of the rotating doors, looking glamorous. You didnât know that this would be your home for the next week, but you certainly werenât going to complain. As you admired the hotel from the car window, the door quickly opened and a hand outstretched to help you exit the vehicle.
âWe are here, Miss Y/L/N.â
âThank you Charles.âÂ
As you took his hand for assistance, you couldnât help but wonder if this is what it what it always felt like for those who had personal drivers. You stood on the side walk, looking to your right. There was a clear view of Central Park. You were instantly taken back to the moment you met Chris. It seemed like months had passed since it happened, but really it was just a little over a week since that fateful morning. You were in enough of a daze that you didnât even realize you stood in the middle of the busy sidewalk, filled with people who were rushing off to work.
âMiss Y/L/N, is everything okay?â
Thankfully Charles brought you back to reality, before some angry passerby would throw garbage at you, because you slowed down their perfectly timed out walking pace to get into the office at the exact moment the needed to be there.
âOh, yes Charles. Everything is fine. I am just happy to be back. Thank you for your services this morning.â
âYouâre welcome Miss. Now, should we go inside before you get run over?â
You smiled as he directed you towards the revolving door where you are greeted by a friendly smile.
âWelcome to the Park Central Hotel. You must be Miss Y/L/N. We have been awaiting your arrival. We hope you enjoy your stay with us.â
************************************************************************
The drive into the city went quick for Chris and Scott. It gave them time to bounce some story ideas off of each other. It also gave them a chance to relive moments from their childhood, by blasting songs on the radio and singing along. They even had a good laugh when they realized they were singing some of the lyrics wrong. They loved being able to spend time like this with each other. In their adult life, they were always going in opposite directions, so when they had the chance to get out on the open road and make more memories together, they embraced it.
Chris navigated his way through Manhattan, as they encountered the end of the day rush hour. They found themselves at a standstill on West 59th Street. This street bordered the south end of Central Park, near the very spot along the pathway that Chris met Y/n on. It was the first time on the entire drive, that Chris had gone silent. He was reliving that morning again in his mind. Oddly enough, he even looked for Y/n, as if she was actually going to be there.
âEarth to ChrisâŚthe car in front of you is moving. Are you going to go?â
Vehicles behind him started honking their horns, encouraging him in a not so polite way to get going. He shook his head as he lightly pressed on the gas.
âIs everything okay? Itâs like you spaced out for a momentâ
âItâs because I did. All the memories of meeting Y/n started flooding back. I caught a glimpse of the spot where we met. A part of me wished that by chance when I looked over to the spot that she would be standing there, waiting for me.â
Scott patted him on the shoulder, consoling him for the wish that was unfulfilled in the moment. He felt bad for his brother, but he was really good at containing his excitement for what he knew was going to happen the next morning.
âWell, it doesnât hurt to have that kind of wish cross your mind. She must have been something special if you are still feeling this way about her Chris. There is nothing wrong with that.â
âYouâre right. Now letâs focus on this meeting tomorrow, and maybe we can have a little fun when we are here. I donât need to be back in Boston for a couple of days.â
âI like youâre thinking. I see that we are just about to arrive at the hotel. How about we drop our things off, freshen up, and go out for beer and food?â
âI can get behind that idea.â
As they pulled up to the front door of the hotel, Chris felt a sense of calm as he stepped out of the vehicle, putting his sunglasses on and turning his cap on the right way. He looked at the hotel and then looked to the right, where he could see Central Park. He smiled. In this moment he caused a bit of commotion with the passersby. Cellphone cameras snapped photos of him smiling. With not much in hand except a duffel bag, he quickly made his way to the entrance to pass off his keys to the valet and give a final wave to the few people who stood there in shock that they just saw him.
âWelcome to the Park Central Hotel, Mr. Evans. We have been awaiting your arrival. We hope you enjoy your stay with usâ
************************************************************************
You despised the early hours you kept seeing on the bedside table clock. It started at 5am, an hour that you really werenât too familiar with. You hadnât slept much the entire night. Luckily you had a couple more hours to try and catch up on the sleep time you missed. It wasnât happening though. It seemed as if you saw every ten minutes pass by. You blamed it on a good blend of nervous energy and excitement. Leading up to your actual alarm going off, you made notes and questions on the hotel stationary to often goes unused. There were plenty of questions you figured you wanted to ask, even though you were going into this meeting without any prior knowledge of what the project entailed.
As 7 am finally arrived, you looked at your phone. Apparently you were not the only one that was up early. Evelyn had texted you at 5:30am to apologize that she couldnât have breakfast with you as she promised, but would meet you at the front door of headquarters at 8:30am to give you a tour and show you your office for the week. Her cancellation of breakfast was welcomed news as you just wanted to take your time getting ready. Before starting your morning routine, a quick call to room service for the delivery of a hearty breakfast and a giant cup of coffee was just what you needed to feel like a human again. As you hung up the phone from placing the order, you stood in front of an illuminated mirror. You examined every line and spot on your face. You couldnât help but smile.
âAlright, Y/n. Today is the day that you have dreamed about. You donât have to underestimate your abilities anymore. Enjoy the moment and donât forget to wow them.â
************************************************************************
âI hope you donât need much time to get ready?â
Scott was already dressed and ready to go as Chris just turned over for the first time, smelling the coffee that his brother placed on the bedside table.
âWhen do we need to leave?â
âWell, we should be somewhat earlyâŚso how about you just get up and get ready. I got breakfast and coffee for you. Other than that, itâs all up to you and us arriving to the meeting on time.â
âAlright, alright. Iâll get up! Next time, maybe we shouldnât stay out late the night before an important meeting.â
âMay I remind you, itâs because you are getting old.â
Hiding his head underneath the pillow, Chris was awake enough to give his brother the finger.
*********************************************************************
âWelcome Y/n!!!â
Evelyn greeted you at the door, just like she said she would. You arrived not one minute early or late. You wanted to demonstrate your punctuality, without being too eager on your first day at headquarters. Evelyn was genuinely excited to see you this morning, as she gave you a hug instead of shaking your hand. It felt a little odd to see her in person, as you were used to meeting with her over video conferencing.
âIt is so great to be here Evelynâ
âI apologize again for missing breakfast with you this morning, but I had an urgent meeting come up with our office in London. Are you ready to see what it is like here at headquarters?â
You already knew that you would like this place a whole lot more than your office back in Vancouver. There was something about the overall atmosphere at headquarters. Even though you had only walk through the lobby of the building so far, creativity filled the space. As planned, Evelyn took you on a tour, introducing you to all the people you really needed to know while you were there. She even introduced you to some of the illustrators you admired for years. They welcomed you with words of admiration for your work. What a surreal moment. The two of you then reached your final stop before the meeting; your office.
âNow, if we need you here in Manhattan more often, I promise that your office will be a lot more nice than this.âÂ
Evelyn said this as she slowly opened the door into the space. Your jaw dropped. What was Evelyn talking about? The first thing that caught your eye was the floor to ceiling windows that lined one side of your office. The view was out towards Midtown Manhattan. You hadnât really realized how far up in floors you went in the elevator, as you were caught up in conversation with Evelyn and her associates. You must have been on at least the 20th floor, maybe even more. You slowly walked into the office, letting you fingers trace the edge of the glass top desk and the all the supplies you needed to work on preliminary drawings, before transferring them to digital formatting.
âEvelyn, this is unbelievable. This is more than I would have ever imagined my office to be. Thank you.â
âI really hope it will suffice. If there is anything that you are missing, let Amy your office assistant know. She will be able to help you out. We have about 10 minutes before our meeting in the conference room at the end of the hall. I will leave you to it for a bit. Iâm going to go and see if our clients are here yet, to escort them to the conference room.â
âThank you again Evelyn. I will see you shortly.â
Evelyn exited the room and closed the door behind her. You stood there in shock. This was your life now. Well, it was for the week at least. You quickly grabbed your phone to take pictures to send to your family and Haley. Not even a minute later, Haley video called you.
âHi Hales! I hope you donât mind, but I canât talk long.â
âItâs okay, I have to get ready for work anyway. I just wanted to say hi and that I love your new office. Does it seem a little surreal?â
âIt sure does. I think I am in shock right now.â
âAre you about to head into your big meeting?â
âI am. Good news though, I am not nervous!â
âOh good. So Iâm thinking you donât know who you are meeting with yet?â
âSure donât. Evelyn didnât even talk about the meeting this morning. She must be feeling pretty confident about it and my ability to just go with the flow.â
âWell, Iâm sure you will have a great meeting. Make sure you call or text me after it, okay?â
âI will! Love ya Hales!â
It was finally time to make your way to the boardroom. You placed your personal things away in the closet and grabbed a pen, paper, and sketchbook off your new desk and reached for the door handle. Before opening the door, you took a deep breath.
âYou got this Y/n. You. Got. This.â
************************************************************************
You sat beside Evelynâs associates who were having their own conversation about other projects. You sat there trying to contain the nervous twitch you had in one leg, as you doodled on the sketchpad. You couldnât sit still. Nerves finally kicked in, as you could hear Evelyn in the hallway chatting. There was laughter coming from their conversation. The laughter was calming, ultimately giving you the vibe that this client was going to be fun to work with. Staring out the window as your back was to the hallway door, you kept analyzing the voices and the banter they were having. You couldnât make out what they were talking about, but they sure were taking their time to get to the boardroom. Itâs as if they needed to stop every few steps. Was there something out there that you missed seeing because you were so focused on getting to the meeting and not being late?
Just then the door slowly opened. Not sure what to do, you quickly stood up like the associates did, with you head hanging down, hoping you could hide your nerves. How were you to greet this client? Was Evelyn going to introduce you, or was that up to you to be confident? You reminded yourself to do the most important thing you have learned through life, and that was to smile. Maybe following the lead of the associates was also a good idea, as they were used to this interaction. It sure seemed strange at how they clamored together though. You could see the top of someoneâs head, peak into the board room.
âSorry for the delay, everyone. He always wants to make sure that no one feels left out.â
Sure enough the associates laughed, and some giggled like little kids, after this comment was made. You recognized the voice, but couldnât place it. The associates remained standing somewhat in a little cluster as the familiar voice returned to the hallway. Evelyn quickly came around to the head of the table. She motioned for you to both sit down. You kept an eye on Evelyn, just in case she had more direction for you. She smiled at you as a boisterous voice entered the room.
âGood morning everyone!â
Your heart stopped. You knew that voice. You slowly turned your chair so you could try and get a glimpse of who you thought it was. He made his way down the table, greeting each associate that stood there. You looked down at your feet as your heart started to race a little more, feeling like you could get ill. You then see his feet stop in front of you. You slowly stood up, without making eye contact just yet. You extend your hand and slowly raised your head. Evelyn spoke up.
âAnd this is your amazing illustratorâŚâ
âY/nâŚ..â Chris stood there in shock as he held your hand. You were ready to faint as your whole entire body didnât know how to react in the moment. You didnât want him to let go, as you feared you would fall over. Was this real? Was he real? Scott proceeded to take a seat across the table from you, with the biggest smile on his face as he grabbed his phone and snapped a picture of the two of you seeing each other for the first time.Â
Sure enough, the picture was sent to Haley with the caption...Â

She took his hand, hoping he couldnât feel her shaking. She felt like she was in a daze. Of Dave. A Dave Daze...
The restaurant - called âPizza My Heartâ (how awkward!) - was only a block away, so they walked over and found a booth next to the salad bar where the table wasnât dirty or sticky.
After a few giddy minutes, Gemma finally relaxed enough to enjoy their conversation after her first slice of the âDoggy Styleâ pizza - Dave insisted he didnât know what the term meant, but Gemma had her doubts. Still, she couldnât bring herself to actually say what it meant.
And they talked...for hours. They talked about how stupid their jobs were, mostly. But he asked her so many questions about herself...she felt... special. Dave made her feel interesting and funny and cool. And as she got more comfortable with him...she started seeing him as less intimidatingly handsome and more...approachable. Like he might actually be more than just a distant infatuation.
Suddenly, the waiter told them that they were closing. Gemma looked around--they were the only ones left in the restaurant, and she hadnât even noticed.
And it was two in the morning.
âOh my GOD! Iâm going to be a wreck tomorrow...â she groaned, but with a very happy smile on her face. âThatâs ok. It was worth it. Best dinner Iâve had in a long time. Thank you, Dave!â
She raised her plastic soda cup in a toast.
Loki nudged his soda cup to hers, smiling widely. "I, for one, am very glad that I got to monopolize your time today. Finally got to know the girl who I only knew the name of. Though a beautiful name it is, I wanted more."
He watched the red creep up her peachy cheeks in response to his words. Really, making her blush was so much fun, it was almost like a game to him now.
What else could he say next to make little Gemma go red? It gave his overactive mind something nice to do, when it was not thinking about the mission.
Still, he knew that he couldn't afford to think too much about Gemma, or he'd... fixate. He had this odd habit of becoming near obsessive over things and people he developed a liking for. Moderation wasn't in his nature, Thor had once commented on it after settling on Midgard, seeing him develop an obsession over Midgardian climates and their corresponding architecture.
Oh well... for at least three years he had kept himself busy enough to not fixate on anything. The SHIELD missions were enough stimulation for his needy brain.
But now, seeing the smiling, blushing pretty face of Gemma, he was getting the feeling that his brain needed another type of stimulant.
Or was it his body?
Her brightness and endearing awkwardness contrasted him so much, it was hard not to be drawn to her. He was so full of dark thoughts, many of which had manifested during his rampage across Midgard not long ago, brought to the surface by the Scepter. While he was a churning storm, Gemma was like a fluffy fair-weather cumulus.
As they got out of their booths and headed back towards their company office, he briefly wondered how it would've been had he met Gemma back in 2012. Norns, he probably would not have shown the restraint he was showing now; he would've ended up doing something very, very bad.
Like abduct her and keep her with him. Like a pretty trinket.
But Gemma is not a possession, he reminded himself. Gemma is a person. She decides what she does, not me.
And yet, a tiny part of his psyche still wanted to possess her. He strangled that part quickly.
"So, I was thinking I should drop you home," he said, grasping her delicate hand as she headed toward the nearby, empty bus stop. "It's pretty late, and I don't want you traveling alone."
He used his very persuasive tone with her, knowing that it worked well with Midgardians and Asgardians alike. And his request was earnest as well. He actually felt protective of her and didn't want her to be vulnerable.
She was a good girl, after all. So sweet and well mannered, not a single blemish marred her gentle heart.
âBut...I...itâs fine, really. I take the bus everywhere. And frankly, Iâm still totally wired on caffeine. I think Iâll probably be up all night anyway...â
Oh, she knew what he was doing. But after the hours of friendly banter, she was feeling...secure. And as much as she swore she would never sleep with a co-worker...come ON. This was turning out to be the makings of a story she would remember for years to come, about how she --the humble, awkward little Gemma--slept with her hot British co-worker. And besides, the way he talked, it sounded like he was already looking for jobs at other companies, and she couldnât blame him. This job sucked.
âUm...would you mind...if I came over for a drink? I donât have anything at my house...â
Oh, that was a lame excuse. But she hoped it worked.
Loki grinned at her as she fumbled with her words again, still not letting go of her hand.
"Sure, I'm glad you mentioned it. I could use another drink as well, I think. And at my place, you'd be spoiled for choice."
He led her to his car then, while still mentally admonishing himself for taking this step. She was not a permanent fixture in his life, and he simply shouldn't take things in the direction he was taking them.
Alas, he was a selfish man, and he wanted to indulge himself.
Once settled in the car, he made sure to fix her seatbelt for her before getting started. Midgardians needed that bit of safety measure. Always.
As he pulled the car out of the complex, he decided that he'd probably share a drink or two with her, and then he'd... and then he'd let her be.
It was for the best.
Gemma slid down into the black leather seat of the nicest car she had ever seen. It was not just âclean,â but perfectly so, like it had been driven from a showroom. It was a beautiful white--even in the harsh yellow of the parking lot lights it looked amazing. The Jaguar XF had obviously been customized to his exacting standards, from the elegant emerald green trim on the interior, to the intricately carved details in the dashboard.
And he put her seatbelt on . She was vibrating with excitement as he walked around the car and got in, turned the ignition, and pulled out of the empty lot.
âI like your car,â she said, feeling dumb. What she wanted to say was Holy SHIT this is the fanciest car Iâve ever seen in my life! But, thankfully, she resisted. âYou must be a pretty good salesman.â
"Thank you, I had purchased it back in London," he replied warmly, liking the fact that she looked as mesmerized by the interiors as she was with the exterior.
Loki was used to the attention that his cars received. He had chosen this one in particular for this mission, for he had to build a life for himself as marketing personnel, someone with a good lifestyle and a lot of extra income.
Not that he got a car for each of his missions... but SHIELD was pathetic in building this kind of a charade for the lack of funds on their part.
Loki certainly had no lack of funds, and using them on his missions was like a hobby of his.
"You have an interest in cars?" he asked conversationally as he maneuvered the vehicle easily on the now near empty roads.
âI do now!â she said, running her hand over the dashboard. It felt like silk under her fingers, and she noticed that the carvings were inlaid with gold.
Her mind drifted off, imagining what it would be like to fuck him in the back seat...
Woah, girl...it was just pizza.
She laughed silently to herself, then watched the streetlights pass over his face as they drove.
âWhatâs London like? Iâve never been there...â
âIt's mostly quieter than New York, and parts of it really take you back in time," he replied, giving her a wink and turning his eyes back on the road. "I still have some ties to it. My family cottage on the outskirts and my house in West Brompton. I think you'd like it there."
Why was he talking to her about his life? Those actually were his properties in London, but he should not be imparting that information to her.
Well, it didn't jeopardize the mission in any way, so it was fine. Fury would never know, and even if he did, what could he do about it?
Loki knew that he was now a valuable asset for SHIELD. Fury would never do anything to change that.
As they pulled up to his apartment building, Gemma stared up and up and up the glass sides. It was massive, gorgeous, and right in the heart of downtown Manhattan. He glided up to the entrance, then got out and handed his keys to the valet before walking around and opening her door.
Gemma felt weak in the knees...and INCREDIBLY underdressed and out of place in her Avengers gym shirt and work skirt. If she had known asking to come to his place meant coming here...she would have at least wanted to touch up her make-up.
But then...he looked at her. He smiled at her! He held her hand gently and led her from the car into the enormous, luxurious lobby. Her expression probably made her look like an idiot, and if there were anything she could have done to stop it, she would have.
Unfortunately, she was well and truly dumbstruck by his apartment building. âWhat floor are you on?â she asked breathlessly as he led her toward the elevators.
"Oh, you'll see," he answered impishly as they entered the elevator.
He pushed the button for the penthouse, then turned to witness her reaction. She was already looking so nervous about being here, it was so very... cute.
Gemma hugged the walls of the elevator, eyes flicking rapidly between Daveâs face and the button he pushed. She honestly thought he might be messing with her, and she was waiting for him to laugh and hit the button for a lower floor. But he didnât...and the higher up they went, the harder her heart pounded.
âWow...I am in the wrong line of work...â She gasped, eyes wide as the elevator slowed to a stop. She heard a soft ding, and the doors opened.
Loki chuckled as he led her out of the elevator and into his penthouse apartment. Really, seeing her this impressed, he was very tempted to take her to France and to lead her into the castle he had there.
Her reaction to that would be something else...
"It's not all about the work, I come from a line of old money," he stated as he turned the lights on. "I've been very... lucky in life."
Well, at least in terms of having monetary stability and luxuryâŚ
Gemma hadnât let go of his hand since he had helped her out of the car, but now she took a few steps away, looking at him suspiciously.
âWhy the hell are you working at PAC & Co? Do they seriously pay you enough to keep doing that shitty job when you have all this?â
As impressed and amazed as she was, this just wasnât making sense. A few hours ago they were stuck late in that crappy office with a malfunctioning printer...now she was looking out over the New York skyline from his penthouse.
Oh dear... he should've expected her sharp and curious mind to reach its own conclusions about him. This was why he had never fraternized or made friends on his missions.
This was why bringing her here was unwise. But now, it had been done, and he had to do some damage control.
It wasn't like his other missions, where he could just kill off an inconvenient loose end. Gemma was an innocent...
He let out a loud laugh at her suspicious question. "Gemma, why do you think I'm here, if not for a transitional job that won't break my job experience and give me enough time to find a better one?"
She narrowed her eyes at him, still unsure. But GOD, was she hoping he had a good reason, because she was definitely going to fuck him if he could convince her.
âWhatâs a transitional job? Transitioning from what?â
"I told you, I came here from London. That kind of move requires a lot of transition, no?" he asked, stepping up to her and grasping her shoulder gently. "I didn't want to be without a job during this time, for it would reflect poorly on my resume."
He had turned his voice deeper and deeper as he explained his situation to her, hoping to distract her with it.
"Do you feel differently about me now, than when we were at that pizza place?" He frowned as he asked that question, wondering why he would care so much if indeed she were to think him... what?... snobbish and obnoxious for being wealthy?
He WAS indeed wealthy. He was still a prince by his true title.
Also... if she was so suspicious of wealth, how much would she judge him if she learned his true identity? He was known all over Midgard as a wicked, unscrupulous and cruel man, after all.
âOf course I do!â she said, looking around at the luxurious furnishings. âIâm...Iâm just...a little overwhelmed...â She touched the wall behind her just a bit to regain her balance.
âMaybe that drink would help?â She smiled softly, really trying to pull herself together. Dave was... amazing . Almost too good to be true...
"Sure," he responded, pulling away and leading her to his spacious, plush sofa. That monstrosity took up nearly half of the living room, and he hadn't used it much during his three month stay here.
From here, the view of the city was fantastic, displayed finely in the floor-to-ceiling windows that occupied the whole western wall of the living room. He loved watching the sunsets from here.
His bedroom was made in a similar fashion, but with east facing floor-to-ceiling windows. All in all, it was a nicely made apartment, by Midgardian standards.
"What would you like? Wine? Vodka cocktail? Beer? I'm myself going for a whiskey."
âBeer sounds great.â Her voice was small as she continued to look around the lavish apartment. So...he was from old money. In London. And this job was just helping him transition to living and working in New York. Ok. Cool.
She wanted to believe him so badly...and so she pushed down her other questions and that gnawing feeling in her gut that told her that there was more to his story.
He handed her a chilled glass of some sort of amber ale, and taking a sip of the cold beverage instantly relaxed her.
âAhhhhh,â she sighed, settling back on the sofa. âYou better be careful. I could get used to this.â
Loki could see that she was still doubting his 'old money' story about his wealth, and he had to praise her sharp mind for it.
Doubt was always healthy... especially when it came to him.
Still, he put the charm on her to keep her distracted. "Ah, then maybe I'd be tempted to spoil you."
He sipped his single malt and kept his eyes on her, which he knew, from experience, unnerved many people. For her benefit, he toned his gaze down so that she'd not feel uncomfortable, but still, made sure that she knew she had his full attention.
"So, tell me more about your family, Gemma. You talked very little about them. Do your parents visit you here? What about your sister?"
The way he looked at her over the rim of his glass sent shivers down her spine...and what did he mean he might be âtemptedâ to spoil her...was that...could this be more than a one-night stand? She decided not to think about it; better to just appreciate this crazy experience for what it was and not hope for anything more to come of it.
Then he brought up her family. Uuuggghhh...
âOh, yea. They donât...theyâve never come out here to visit.â She laughed nervously, rubbing her hand on the back of her neck, under her mousey blond ponytail. âThey prefer my hometown...and they donât understand why I moved here. My sister feels the same - she hasnât even brought the kids over, even though Iâve invited them. But thatâs how it goes sometimes, you know? Stupid perfect older sister...Mom and Dad just love her and her perfect husband and her perfect house thatâs just down the block from them and her perfect life. Me, Iâm just the weird one. I couldnât wait to move out. I thought living in New York would be a lot more exciting but...well, I didnât realize it would be so hard being on my own...â
Holy SHIT why am I SAYING all this? Way to kill the mood, Gem...
Loki couldn't help but relate to her. Younger child, perfect elder sibling, unrelatable family, loneliness...
Even though his life had its own complications, and he had contributed to his problems to some extent.
But really, he was quite surprised that Gemma's family was cold towards her. She wasn't even adopted!
"I must say, I'm very curious to know what kind of family it is that just... ignores their daughter. A daughter who is but a mix of sweetness and kindness," he murmured, putting his now empty glass away. Grasping her hand once again, he shifted closer to her to give her his earnest support. "I can see that you're taking it upon yourself, thinking that there's something wrong with you, but there isn't. You're perfect."
His sudden flattery took her by surprise, and her brain short-circuited a little. THE Dave just said she was... perfect?!
Even with all the red flags and warning bells going off in her head...she wanted him to keep saying nice things about her. It had been so long since sheâd tried to flirt or gotten dinner or had drinks with someone...was he just playing with her, or...could he really mean that?
No, there were far too many layers of self-consciousness and doubt for her to accept his words at face value. She was sure he was trying to get into her pants--well, her skirt--but that wasnât a bad thing. She appreciated what he said anyway.
And she flushed red, smiling shyly. âStop it,â she giggled. Then she took another sip of her beer. âWhat about your family, Mr. Moneybags? Why did you move away from London?â
Loki sighed heavily, squeezing her hand as he looked down. Now, the lies would come pouring out of his mouth as usual. Par for the course...
"My parents died a few years ago. Rainy day, slippery road." He glanced up to see if she was going to doubt him again, but so far, she seemed to be listening intently, her beautiful chocolate eyes wide and dilated. "I have no siblings, and the extended family isn't very warm. The aunt I used to have a lovely relationship with had also died a long time ago, due to illness. So basically I was very alone and kind of depressed."
He laughed without humour, then, hoping that she'd buy his story, for the sadness in his eyes was real. He was indeed lonely. Had been for years.
"I knew that I had to do something about it before I just succumbed to it. Moreso, I knew I had more work related opportunities here in the US. So I jumped over the pond, trying to start a new life for myself."
His already frayed conscience screamed at him as he leaned towards her, locking his gaze with her intimately. She knew nothing about his true identity and he was drowning her in his charm, essentially fooling her. She'd hate him for it if she somehow learned the truth.
Oh... but she was so beautiful and pure of heart⌠he felt an inexplicable pull towards her.
His hand reached up and cupped her cheek.
So warm and soft...
He'd had no lovers in so long...
"I can now say that I'm glad I moved here." He moved in and nuzzled her neck, wondering if she'd pull away and reject him. Reject Dave, that is.

Over the years Hamburg airport has expanded rapidly and today the site is measured at 5.7 square kilometres. This extension has including building a new hotel outside the terminal, new terminal buildings, connection to the S Bahn (which is Germany's rapid transport system), and the modernization of the roads outside the airport.
The S Bahn is one of the quickest ways to get from Hamburg international airport to wherever else you are going. Hamburg airport is known in German as Flughafen Hamburg-FuhlsbĂźttel and has the airport code HAM. Every year an estimated 13 million passengers use Hamburg international airport on about 173,500 flights.

Aer Lingus goes to Dublin, Aeroflot goes to Moscow, Air Baltic goes to Riga, Air Berlin goes to Palma de Mallorca, Air France flies to Paris Charles de Gaulle, British Airways flies to London Heathrow and Freebird Airlines goes to Istanbul.
The airport is a good place to go if you are looking for low cost flights as Easyjet does a London Luton route, Flybe flies to Birmingham in England, Blue Wings goes to Antalya in Turkey and KLM Cityhopper goes to Amsterdam.
Hamburg airport has two terminals, terminal one and terminal two. He looked f***ed. Clubber tells how UFC star Conor McGregor
Mugshot: MMA fighter Conor McGregor after his arrest on criminal mischief and strongarm robbery charges after taking Ahmed Abdirzakâs phone and smashing it
The shaken clubber whose phone was smashed and taken by Conor McGregor has branded the UFC superstar a âdangerous thugâ â telling DailyMail.com: âI was scared for my life.âÂ
Ahmed Abdirzak, 22, was trying to video McGregor outside a Miami Beach nightspot when the snarling MMA legend flew into a rage and âpunchedâ his iPhone 8 out of his hand.Â
Restaurant manager Ahmed then looked on in disbelief as McGregor, 30, picked up the handset and hurled it to the floor before stamping on it repeatedly.Â
The Irishman then picked up the smashed phone and slipped it into his pocked before casually strolling back to SUV â laughing and adopting the signature McGregor swagger. The phone contained footage of the incident.
âHe walked away with that trademark McGregor strut that you see him enter the ring with in UFC,â Ahmed told DailyMail.com in an exclusive interview.
âIâm not going to lie, I was scared for my life â the guy is a lethal weapon.âÂ
McGregor was arrested Monday evening and released hours later on $12,500 bond.
He faces charges of criminal mischief and strong-armed robbery. It is unclear if police have the phone and the footage it contains.
Crime scene: Ahmed Abdirzak tells DailyMail.com he was scared his life was at risk when Conor McGregor stormed up to him, grabbed him and seized his phone â at this spot here while he and his friend waited for their car. âI looked into his face and his eyes were bulging. He was so angry. I donât know whether he was drunk or on drugs, but he looked f***ked.
Outcome: Conor McGregor, one of the highest-paid athletes in the world, is facing charges of misdemeanor criminal mischief and strong-armed robbery. He is seen leaving jail Monday night after being bonded out
Party venue: The Fountainbleu Hotel in Miami Beach is home to LIV where Conor McGregor was partying
Here to party: Conor McGregor was the least famous celebrity spotted by Ahmed Adbirzak and his friends in the LIV nightclub. The biggest name was rapper Blueface
Videos posted on Instagram show the MMA superstar partying with a number of people, including this woman in a captainâs hat
Inside the club: On one clip, Conor McGregor appeared to be arguing with another party-goer, with his arm raised. Hours later he was involved in the skirmish on the car park
Brit Ahmed, from Slough, Berkshire, and a group of friends flew into the U.S. last Friday for a Spring Break vacation in Miami Beach.
Top of their list of nightspots to visit was super club LIV in the swank Fontainebleau Hotel.Â
âEveryone told me that LIV is the place to be. The place is really high-end, the music was insane,â he went on.
âWe saw loads of celebrities. The big US rapper Blueface was performing live. We had a fantastic evening. There was no trouble inside.
âThere was a lot of A-list celebrities there. Conor was probably the lowest there, nobody was showing him any love.
âThe only reason I was looking at him was because I was from the United kingdom and heâs big there.âÂ
Other footage from inside LIV showed McGregor appearing to argue with a clubber as he partied with a number of women.
In a clip posted on Instagram, the Irish MMA star appeared to be shouting at a bearded man. McGregor edges closer to him, before the camera pans away.Â
The alleged skirmish outside the club happened at 5am when Ahmed and his friends, including best friend Fuad Nur, 23, ran into the star in the hotel valet area as they waited for their rental car.Â
âMy friend spotted him on the way out and shouted to him âMcGregor, McGregor, weâve come all the way from Londonâ,â he went on.
âHe turned to him and gave him a salute. I said âMan dem McGregorâ [a London street expression of friendship and appreciation] and he repeated it word for word, mocking me.
âIt seemed good-natured at that point though, he seemed friendly. I wasnât insulting him or antagonizing him at all.
âI donât drink, Iâve never touched alcohol in my life. Iâve never done drugs. I was completely sober.âÂ
Ahmed said McGregor began shouting lyrics from the hit rap song Thotiana which Blueface had performed inside the club.Â
He insists he was about 15ft away when he took out his phone to record the spectacle â and that McGregor saw it and advanced towards him.
Defiance; Conor McGregor shared a picture of him in the back of a Miami Beach Police cruiser taken after his arrest and showing him grinning
Message: The MMA fighter, 30, posted a picture of himself on social media with this caption
Home: McGregor keeps a house in Miami Beach and returned there after being bonded out
âHe reached out his left hand to greet me, to shake my hand. But then he held my arm so I couldnât get away,â said Ahmed.Â
âHis grip was insane. I could tell he was a professional athlete. I thought heâs going to hit me. I was shocked.
âI looked into his face and his eyes were bulging. He was so angry. I donât know whether he was drunk or on drugs, but he looked f***ked.Â
âI just remained passive, I didnât want to fight. Then with his right hand he punched the phone. It was so hard I felt the impact through my entire body.âÂ
Ahmed said he watched the phone screen shatter. He tried to pick it up but says McGregor picked it up and threw it on the floor.Â
âHe stamped on it four times. He then picked it up and put it in his jeans,â Ahmed added. âI couldnât believe what I was seeing.Â
âHe did his swagger dance and headed to his black SUV with his entourage surrounding him.
âI was asking them, âCan I get my phone back?âÂ
âI tried to run after him and asked for it back but he just laughed.âÂ
Amazingly, Ahmed, a dad-of-one who runs his familyâs restaurant, Golis, Southall, west London, said the globetrotting sports star is yet to return the smashed iPhone.
âHe robbed me. It was daylight robbery. It wasnât just a broken phone,â he told DailyMail.com.
âNobody has taken the phone away from him and given it back to me.Â
âAs far as I know heâs still got it. Itâs got all my personal pictures of my mother and son that I will never be able to get back now.Â
âIâve got friends in the UK who have done really minor crimes and they arenât even allowed to come to America. They canât get visas.Â
âHow is it that this man, a guy with history of arrests and violence can just come in and out whenever he likes â all because heâs a big name celebrity.Â
âHeâs a dangerous thug, very dangerous. He lives up to his name â notorious. He thinks the normal rules donât apply to him.
âI wouldnât wish jail on anyone, but they should make an example out of him. His fans are already posting threats and jokes about me online.â Â
Victim: Ahmed Abdirzak tells DailyMail.com: âHeâs a dangerous thug, very dangerous. He lives up to his name â notorious. He thinks the normal rules donât apply to him.â
Witness: Ahmed Abdirzak was with best friend Fuad Nur, 23, when the confrontation with McGregor happened
Arrest report: How police dealt with Conor McGregor
Abdirzak said he should at least have his ability to come and go freely from the U.S. withdrawn. Â
âI wouldnât want to see anyone jailed or deported but I believe in justice,â he added.
âComing to the US is a privilege. And if you do bad things you should lose that privilege
âI donât see why they should let him in again. Heâs had enough chances to behave himself already.â
Mondayâs incident came just three days after McGregor completed his probation for a violent altercation last April in Brooklyn when he attacked a bus carrying several UFC fighters by throwing a dolly through a window.Â
McGregor turned himself in to police the day after the melee and was charged with assault and criminal mischief.Â
He pleaded guilty in July to a single disorderly conduct charge in a Brooklyn courthouse in order to avoid prison time.Â
On Friday it was announced that heâd completed five days of community service at churches in Brooklyn and had taken an anger management class.Â
Had he violated probation, McGregor likely would have been faced jail time along with possible deportation to Ireland.Â
The MMA fighter, 30, posted a picture of himself on social media Tuesday with the caption: âPatience in this world is a virtue I continue to work on. I love my friends dearly. Thank you allâ.Â
The rise of Conor McGregor
Conor McGregor makes his entrance before his fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. in August 2017
Conor McGregor is known for his controversial, bragging persona in and out of the ring, which draws record numbers of viewers to his fights.
The 29-year-old Ultimate Fighting Champion was born in Dublin, Ireland, and began his mixed martial arts career at age 18 in an amateur match for the Irish Ring of Truth in his hometown.
He soon went professional and debuted in the MMA in 2009, collecting wins both as a lightweight and a featherweight.
McGregor is the first European MMA fighter to hold titles from two divisions â featherweight and lightweigh â simultaneously.
In 2013, after being swarmed by requests to sign McGregor to the UFC during a trip to Ireland, the organizationâs president Dana White complied and the fighter became the second-ever Irishman to compete for the organization.
McGregor has said that he collected a $200 check from Irelandâs welfare state just one week before his UFC debut, when he was working as a plumber.
He drew the biggest pay-per-view audience for an MMA fight ever when he fought Nate Diaz at UFC 202 in 2016 and defeated him. For that fight he earned $1million, becoming the first UFC fighter to get a seven-figure pay day.
That year he became the first MMA fighter ever to be included on Forbesâ list of highest-paid athletes.
McGregor has been in a relationship with Dee Devlin since 2008 and they share a child, Conor McGregor Jr who was born in May of 2017.Â
In 2017 he announced he would go on hiatus from the UFC after winning the lightweight championship.
McGregor went on hiatus while undefeated as the lightweight champion but had already lost his featherweight championship.Â
In August of 2017, McGregor he was paid a reported $30million to fight undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a much-anticipated, yet ultimately uncompetitive match that he lost on the 10th round.Â
McGregorâs relationship with the UFC hit the rocks in April 2018 when White ruled that he would be stripped of his Lightweight Championship belt because he hadnât participated in a UFC event since 2016.Â
The Irishman responded with a profane tweet that said: âYouâll strip me of nothing c***s.â   Â
Then two days before the UFC 223 event at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, McGregor arrived with an entourage at the end of a media event and triggered a melee in which he threw a dolly at a bus carrying other fighters.Â
Several fighters were injured by broken glass and two had to miss upcoming fights. Â
White called the incident the âmost despicable thing in UFC historyâ.
McGregor turned himself in to police and was charged with three counts of assault and one count of criminal mischief.
He pleaded guilty in July to a single disorderly conduct charge in a Brooklyn courthouse in order to avoid prison time.
McGregor returned to the Octagon in August 2018 to challenge Khabib Nurmagomedov for the Lightweight Championship but was defeated in the fourth round in Las Vegas.   Â
He found himself in trouble with the law again in March 2019 after an altercation with a fan outside a nightclub in Miami Beach.Â
McGregor was arrested and charged with misdemeanor criminal mischief and strong-armed robbery after he allegedly smashed a fanâs phone on March 11.
