U wanted to talk Abt lamen so here we go! What're ur fav Laurent/Damen/lamen moments/quotes?

there are so many laurent lines i rlly like because this man is diabolical he would say anything. like:

for damen i loved "i didnt realize you had a sense of guilt" / "if id bedded you, you'd know it" / "you fucked like a virgin half the time:

but for longer lamen moments i liked:

- all the scenes in book 1 where laurent was trying to humiliate damen aka all the crawl / kiss my boot / filthy painted slut etc.

- pet disguise + rooftop chase at nesson eloy

- everything in the last part of prince's gambit after they took ravenel, starting from the kiss to laurent humiliating aimeric & damen trying to keep him in control when he was losing it. i liked damen clocking that laurent was still playing the regents games and trying to prove he can. so so so good. and then ofc chapter 19 / 19.5. these in particular:

- the "hello lover" scene incl. "i know who you are damianos" + laurent going like i fucked u for political advantage :-) AND THEN mocking what damen said during sex in akielon. its terrible. i love it

- damen making laurent wear the golden cuff IN PUBLIC

- the spar in kings rising i think this is my favourite out of everything. the "say it" / "i yield" / "i want you to know i couldve done this anytime i was a slave" SO good. & then both of their knife scenes (the one here after the spar & the one in the start of princes gambit) where one couldve easily killed the other

- laurent hugging damen when damen was mourning his father + the i hated you i hated you so badly i thought id choke on it line + you would treat it tenderly + "its me, here with you. say my name" / "damianos". very exquisite. & i like the line where damens narration was like there has to be some self destructive impulse within laurent but damen was too selfish to give this up...

- kingsmeet reveal & damen being so angry that he tried to kill the regent

there are a lot more but these are just my top favourites + whats at the front of my head rn lol. this is a long post. wow !

Honestly the Captive Prince universe is Charls the Veretian Cloth Merchant’s world and Laurent and Damen are just living in it

Is there a demi god Damianos AU anywhere? Like Egeria struggled so much because she was a nymph or a demigod herself so she wasn't compatible with mortal Theomedes? I think it'd be really interesting if Damen was a demi god idk if y'all have recs please forward them my way

I don't think there's anything wrong per se with having a story with the background of a horrible setting but it's ironic to me that people will call Captive Prince problematic for what it depicts, and yet will love other works with fantasy/historical settings that don't ever actually challenge the the status quo of their horrible setting, unlike Captive Prince. They'll just have an MC who is miraculously immune to any bad influence from the setting in order to be likeable, but at the end of the day nothing can ever change in the course of the narrative because it would be "unrealistic". But Laurent and Damen realise they can change things, and they do, and it's great.

(I'm just a small illustrator doodling the blorbos I like my own way, a solid capri graphic novel deserves an actual pro on the area ;; but I appreciate the kind words, nonny <3)
