Steve snorts, earning a glare from Bucky, and pats Bucky's thigh. "Aw, don't be such a sourpuss, Buck," he says. "Who said anything about going alone?"

Summary: 

Tony finds the figure standing alone on the roof, black tactical gear blending into the black night sky.  Barely a shadow among shadows, save for the glint of silver along the figure’s left side.  The Winter Soldier. Or at least, it’s the man who used to be the Winter Soldier.  No telling who he might be now.

Barnes doesn’t look away from Tony, but dips his head a little and licks dry lips, like he’s gathering the words.  “I just...want to come home.  I want to come home to Steve.”  Because Steve is my home.  Barnes doesn’t have to say that part out loud for Tony to hear it anyway, because he knows, he knows that feeling, because it’s how he feels toward Pepper pretty much all the time.

Or, Bucky and Tony talk things out and come to terms, so that Bucky can finally come home to Steve.

Steve Rogers has always been in love with his best friend, Bucky Barnes. Desperate to follow when Bucky ships out to war in 1943, Steve volunteers for Project Rebirth, an experimental program meant to turn him into the world’s first super-soldier. Instead it fails, leaving him with a condition dubbed “Chrono-Impairment” which sees him travelling uncontrollably through time, to random points in both his and Bucky’s lives.

But with Bucky brainwashed into working for HYDRA, and Steve living life on the run, torn between his own time and Bucky’s, will they ever find the happy ending they so desperately desire?

Stevie Rogers Barnes was always too small, too female to make a difference in the United States during WWII. After meeting Peggy Carter and Dr. Abraham Erskine of the Strategic Scientific Reserve, she changes. Her body might be big and strong, but her values are the same. Called to fight Hydra, the mystical scientific branch of the Nazis, she sees things that seem ripped out of the pulps she loves to read.

But when she loses everything, she must decide if being a hero is worth the cost.
