have come to the conclusion that i really like how zi-o’s main writer wrote the gokaigers 😔

gokai go-onger episodes were really fascinating stuff. in part because they were... really so much like what i’d expect id see in a zenkai based gokai ep, content-wise?

and then, looking it up, it literally was miss komura writing those episodes. wow... zenkaiger’s lost pilot...

got back to gokai after putting it on hold for the tokusatsu gagaga interstitial. watched episodes 23 and 24

so 23 was marred by a bad transphobic gag but also contained just the. Most Tragic Heated Drama Between Women. a child died on luka’s baCK….

and then 24 was the Second episode from the carranger main writer, and the whiplash from 23 after putting gokai on hold for so long felt like getting hit in the head repeatedly by hammers! all i can do is hold its lessons in my heart forever. by god. what the hell was that

inoue wanted us all to know that his gai black condor was so cool and could beat everyone up and went to heaven

luka’s contextual big sister/little sister energy

it so funny that the gokaiger’s ultimate power is Inherently linked with the go-ongers. of all teams

suddenly realizing the inherent compare/contrast between stacey and. walz gil

with the lore i know about how the ‘tribute’ aspect of gokai intensified further into the season, it’ll be interesting to see how that develops past the halfway point. the jetman episode already seems to indicate a shift

gokai komurawatch continues with episode 13! her last two episodes having been focused on the doc and ahim duo, this ep continues to let her shepherd ahim, with her first solo focus episode! in which ahim pulls an iconic onisister move 11 years early by extending her own kidnapping

seriously though, this was a great look at ahim, and my favorite of miss komura’s gokai work so far! seeing her in her own adventure shows how even though she might seem like the softest of the gokaigers by comparison, thats by a high bar. beyond just being formidable in her own right, her iron demeanor throughout the episode is a great show of her strength. as well, its lovely seeing the somber moment she shares with her would-be kidnapper, reassuring him about how he helped earth avoid her own planet’s fate

the following episode 14 was not by miss komura. it was the carranger tribute, a completely bizzare series of flabbergasting events that (checks wiki) Was Penned By Carranger’s Main Writer. i guess carranger is just like that...?

anyways next time on gokai watch we have another komura penned ep with #15 which will (sees preview) Oh. You. I Heard Miss Komura Was Largely Responsible For You :)

so first gokai miss komura watch: this is the first toku she had a major role in, writing around 16 episodes, after a few earlier scattered single eps. so interested to see her beginnings!

definitely kind of a tame start though- so far we’ve gotten through the geki and gaon tributes by her. and i think you could argue they were kinda on easy mode, as they both focused on doc and ahim as the central characters, the softest of the main cast, and looked at the more extreme trio of marv joe and luka from the outside. which, yknow, fair! but also look forward to her hopefully getting more daring as things develop
