The oppressors always have their reasons. They always tell you why “this is for the best.” They are sure they’re good people, too. . You know I am right. You see this everywhere. Maybe you have done this. Maybe you DO it. . Why non-white men couldn’t own land or vote. . Why women of any color couldn’t even wear pants, let alone practice autonomy. . Why Africans were animals & slavery gave them purpose. . Why natives in the Americas were godless savages & taking their land & destroying their culture was a gift from god. . Why queer people were rebelling against god’s perfect plan for them & humanity. . Why black people just need to follow orders when approached by police. Why @Kaepernick7 should have stood the fuck up. . Why poor people need to just grab their bootstraps & earn the right to survive. . Why queer people need to keep it in the privacy of their own home. . Why fat people need to care about their health & respect others’ space by doing whatever it takes to be small. . These are culturally created. They are not inherent truths that span all time & all societies. . We don’t have to acquiesce. . We can resist. . We don’t have to accept. . We can fight. . We don’t have to keep quiet. . We can shout. .
