I knew that Jason Stockley would get off. At no point did I think that justice would be served. We know that the system is corrupt and unfortunately, we have not effectively given the power structure a reason to change. Black lives are useful in that they fuel the prison industrial complex and the many false narratives surrounding our criminality and death help to justify the actions of the oppressor. I am not anti-protest. Protests are important expressions of rage and frustration. However, this whole thing has become a game. “They” know what we’re going to do and they’re ready for it. They expect it and they know how to use our own tactics against us. It’s crazy for oppressed people not to react but we have to develop and execute more agendas. No emotional appeals, fuck how white people “feel” about us, we have to affect the system. White Supremacy doesn’t remain in place soley because of hate. It remains in place because if keeps certain people empowered socially and economically. There are plenty of white people who don’t consider themselves racist, but they still benefit from this wicked system and they’ll never change places with their black and brown “friends.” The system won’t stop abusing us until we affect the bottom line. How do we affect the capitalist aspect of our oppression? Our we ready to recognize that racism combined with capitalism eats black people alive? How do we dismantle these systems? I don’t have all the answers but I would say that we should build on using our strengths to create negative consequences for those who wrong us. We can organize and unite around plans to create alternatives to any businesses that we decide to boycott and to economically pull the plug and any entity that does harm to us. Some people are going to be reactionary…but this is a long fight. Let’s talk more about the various ways to partipate in the struggle. The enemy only respects money and violence, so let’s be wise in our action. Let’s try to operate from a position of strength and power. There are many ways to fight and protect our future. These aren’t the only things that need to happen, but these are some of my thoughts.
