Adjust automatic marking as read setting I chose my location this week because of the direction to consider my work's placement in the spectrum and timeline.  Also with regard to context, a lot of things have happened relevant to history, the history of photography, and my mental model as affected by taking courses at @academy_of_art.  As always, the concept is documenting the changing nature of Cape Cod.  I am looking for feedback on the success of the artistic and photographic elements in conveying the linguistic intents of the images in support of the overall concept. This is Corn Hill.  I remind everyone that this is not an actual hill, but a sand dune placed here by a massive glacier's meltwater outwash millennia ago.  History books tell us that the colonization of America began with the Pilgrims' landing on Plymouth rock.  This is untrue.  the Pilgrims landed at the tip of Cape Cod where the town of Provincetown stands today.  For five weeks, they stayed in this area finding the food stores of the indigenous people and taking them for their survival.  The name of this place comes from the corn stores that were stored here by the native tribespeople.   This hill was also a background of a Joel Meyerowitz photograph.  Seen on the right are the Roseville Cottages.  I am standing maybe fifty feet from where Meyerwitz made his exposure, however, the hill is much changed from when he did so.  For the purpose of my thesis, the buildings dotting the landscape, the footings of which are carved into the tender sand, have to do with the continually changing nature of the region and the increasing terraforming that affluence brings to the area. #cornhill #truro #modernlandscapes #builtenvironment #socialcomentary #historyofphotography #photographycanon #meyerowitz #hopper #rosevillecottages #capelight #storm #clouds #capecod #capecodinsta #capecodinstagram #capelife #capecodphotographer https://www.instagram.com/p/Cj0XcD0ucAQ/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

News - Today (Feb 3rd, 2023) the Japanese live-action Whisper of the Heart will be screening in select areas of New York and Los Angeles. This “sequel” to the original story takes place 10 years in the future, following now 24-year-old Shizuku as she’s given up her dream of being a novelist to become a children’s book editor as Seiji still follows his dream abroad.

But as any student of plant biology quickly learns in class, plants do indeed move, but more slowly and in more subtle ways, something the documentary points out. Because they don’t get up and run around, and do not vocalize, it is easy to think of them as being like rocks. But people have a different perception of plants. When looking at animals, we are never surprised to learn that they are social or that they have ways of communicating with others in their group. The documentary offers Wohlleben narrating immersive tours of the forests, along with generous excerpts from his non-fiction book presented by a narrator, footage of Wohlleben teaching classes that introduce lay audiences to what plant science knows about how trees interact with each other and their environment, and Wohlleben interacting with loggers, gently making the case for sustainable practices and imparting his knowledge of forests in a friendly, respectful way, drawing on his standing as someone with years of expertise in forestry to strengthen his points. The non-fiction book, an international bestseller, presents scientific fact in the form of an accessible tale of the secret, social lives of trees. Wohlleben is the author of the 2015 non-fiction book “The Hidden Life Of Trees,” the basis of this documentary of the same name. There are two ways to preserve large buildings of historic significance due to their age if not 5heir history. One is to carve up the interior and make it a multi-unit dwelling. Sure, some people cringe, but West dennis is not an affluent suburbs where the wealthy congregate. Large homes and former hotels, inns, and boarding houses have to find a way to generate their own income flow. This 1865 structure is a condo complex of eleven or so units. One 600 sq ft unit sold for $200k. A woman i know used to live in one of these units. The rooms are massive, and the central staircase helps hide the subdivision. It is essential for towns to encourage investors to provide leverage for the heavy lifting when historically significant structures are at risk. Compositional, I went out into the early morning to get a bit of yellow light. The sky was full blue with few clouds after the storm had cleared overnight. The air was wonderfully clean. It was pretty cold too! I decided on this composition to avoid a structure and real estate signs at the driveway. I put the mailboxes in line with the front steps to establish the story of a multi-family dwelling. The outermost towers are near the thirds. I left the blue color cast in the shadows because that's #capelight.
