When it was built in 1828, the #CapeElizabeth Light Station had two towers—one with a fixed beam and one flashing—to help mariners establish their positions. The western tower was discontinued in 1924 when officials decided it was redundant. Today, it is privately owned. Portland Head Light is such an iconic image. The lighthouse on the little bluff surrounded by rocks and breakers is so well known. It is arguably one of the best known lighthouses in the US. It even graces a beer label (@grittymcduffs )for some pretty good beer. I visited one more state in USA - this time it was Maine. It called itself "Vacationland". Except one of the 57 lighthouses I visited the Portland city. It is not main city, but it is beautiful. It is a mix of hipster coffe shops and port. I hope that I will be able visit Maine one more time because of National park Acadia!!
