Took Miss Linda for a drive to the Nobbies! Fresh sea air, a coffee and the Cape Barren Geese & babies & wallabies were just the tonic! It’s a life fraught with danger when stupid brainless selfish humans don’t have the capacity to think and slow down! Officer Susie was on the job and making sure they did! Drove down to the Island to see Ma and thought it too good a day not to do a drive with her! I rang ahead to make sure she could come out of the home, picked her up and off we went! Over to Churchill Island to see the Highland cattle and bird life! Mum thoroughly enjoyed the trip sipping on a cappuccino and eating a sausage roll from the Newhaven bakery! On our return we drove across the San Remo bridge then did a u turn and back to the island and a drive along the Esplanade to view Bass Strait and take a selfie ( requested by Ma) A nice change from the air conditioned confines of the nursing home! An eagle soars over the hills as we drive around the coast at the Nobbies! Despite a lack of blue sky and sunshine the vistas are beautifully serene! Some Cape Barren Geese enjoyed posing for shots and Ma enjoyed the company of Jenny on our little road trip! At Bass I had to stop and film the camels that reside in a paddock on the highway! We started our journey at Newhaven enjoying a curry pie and a broccoli/cauliflower pie washed down with a coffee! Jenny kept guard outside the car as we savoured the bounty! Thanks Ben from Saltwater Phillip Island who gave us some water for Jenny! His restaurant is worth trying, great food wine and views across the bay! We have had a few visits with mum when she was more mobile! At 100 and closer to 101 she’s happy to stay in the car now! Part two of our Thelma and Louise escape! Mum enjoyed the road trip very much as we continued to The Nobbies to take in the glorious coastal vista! More Cape Barren Geese with older babies and plenty of sea eagles 🦅 soaring across the cliffs! We then headed back to Cowes via the Cemetery for a quick visit to dad’s grave and a toilet stop! Then down to Pino’s to drop in some of Ma’s teddies to Rosa! Thank you Rosa yet again for your warmth and kindness! Again we sat in the car and Rosa brought us coffee for Ma, a rosé for me and some garlic bread! We tucked in then said our goodbyes till next time! Make sure when you’re in Cowes drop in to Pino’s for the best of Italian food and warm hospitality! Rosa, Romina and all the crew are beautiful people! It was time to say au revoir to Ma as I dropped her back to Banfields! A lovely lunch and drive around the Island with mum channeling Thelma and Louise saying just keep driving don’t stop see where we end up!😂 We got our fare from the Newhaven Bakery where I got us coffee and vegetable pastie for Ma and I had a satay chicken pie! We drove around to the water to enjoy eating and a sea view! Got going again and drove across to Churchill Island where lots of Cape Barren Geese with babies enjoyed the warm sun! Love the Highland cattle grazing on the lush grassy slopes and couldn’t resist the young black one licking a rock inside a tyre! Reminded me of Jenny who licks cushions, the leather couch and her rugs!😂 From there we continued our journey to The Nobbies, with breathtaking views all around and more CB Geese with young! Most have grown up chicks but the last pic here was a pair with tiny chicks! What a beautiful day for a drive out to The Nobbies, Phillip Island! I picked up Mum from the nursing home and we drove to The Nobbies, found a good vantage point to take in the stunning views and enjoyed a picnic lunch in the car! It was very windy but fabulous blue skies and seas! The Cape Barren Geese we’re enjoying the sunshine, many with chicks out for a stroll! Sea eagles flew high over the cliffs and for a moment in time we forgot the troubles of our world! Mum proudly wore her Western Bulldogs scarf and sent her wishes to the team! Wouldn’t it be wonderful for this 100year old living legend to see a second GF in her lifetime!
