You disapeared for a while and returned very dean crit. Not complaining I enjoy + agree with it much. But what caused it?

Honestly like. I found myself growing increasingly uncomfortable with the narrative that i had co-opted (codependent freak bros/ wincest) and i couldn’t figure out why and i realised that it’s because canon doesn’t .. actually support that. And then um basically this

also is it dean crit if it’s actual canon… like all of these things happened . In the show . And it’s also the only narrative that actually cohesively ties the whole show together + is in line with the canon characterisations. Dean being more of an asshole in the later seasons isn’t ooc the combination of the narrative being used to reward abuse and punish defiance/ agency is what explains it. He never had any consequences and/or is absolved of them bc he felt guilty and therefore was suffering (which is insane bc it doesn’t actually affect anything . he doesn’t positively change any of his abusive patterns and it just gets worse) and all of his violence and lashing out was justified and rationalised while sam (like someone in a long term and prolonged abusive rs) turns to compliance and blind idolism just to survive . dean occupies john’s role and sam inherits dean’s role from pre-series/ early spn which is that of the abused partner/ co-parent. And this is heralded as right by the show btw . spn thesis statement : abuse is good if it sustains the patriarchal familal structure actually . Just horrors all the way down. And it was all probably incidental what with the clusterfuck that the writers/ show runners change was but it actually . Genuinely is the story. It is the only canon if you look at it without giving in to narrative bias. It’s the only thing that is consistent throughout.
