Daily life in Dammam Corniche & Sunset
Hello all, so I decided to go for walk in one of dammam corniche with the camera to document the daily life with the trees & the sea, I have to say I got pretty lucky encountering some scenes which I really liked.

hi holly! i currently have a canon rebel t6 that's like five or six years old and i am wanting to upgrade soon. my budget would be between 500-800 dollars for just the camera and an additional like 100-200 dollars on lenses (im thinking a wide angle, zoom, and macro). i would prefer to stick with canon, but i just wanted to know if you had any recommendations!!
(i sent a similar ask yesterday but it was before all the crazy anons lol if you just haven't gotten to it yet then don't worry!! just wanted to make sure tumblr didn't eat it)
Okay so! I would adjust where you’re thinking you’re going to spend your money, because white you can get a GREAT camera for this price, you’ll be lucky to get one lens in the $100-$200 range - lenses typically cost more than cameras do and are more of an investment than cameras, because it could take like 30+ years for a good lens to become outdated - if even then - but a camera’s life sits at around 8-10 years MAX before technology surpasses it. You could get a used version of the camera I have for $800 at this point (a Canon 5Diii) - it is 10 years old, but it’s an absolute workhorse and I swear by it and don’t have a desire for anything newer, myself - but you’d be able to purchase one 50mm lens for it with the rest of your budget and that’s it.
For a $600-$1,000 budget if you want all 3 of those lenses, I think a very very beginner end mirrorless camera like this one for $500 would be best, and then plan to spend $400-$500 on two lenses - if you scroll down it will show some that work with it!

Your dogs are beautiful. Can I ask about your camera setup? How do you get such gorgeous action shots?
hey thanks!! the camera setup actually got a very recent upgrade- anything from the last month or so was shot on my canon r6, posts before that were from my 5diii. lenses vary but my current go-to is my 85 1.8 and I’m using my 20mm more on hikes right now for the views. I also just bought a 135 which should get delivered tomorrow and am STOKED to start shooting with that!!!
as for like, settings, I’m usually shooting around 1/1250-1/4000 with the widest aperture the lens can manage and auto iso! focus mode is camera dependent- I had the best luck using single focus points on my 5d, but the animal eye tracking on the r6 is really incredible so that’s my default now. if you’re on the canon mirrorless system, Charlotte Reeves of unleashed education has a great guide to set up double back button focus so you can have both animal eye tracking and single focus points available immediately!
general tips: get as low as possible, shoot in indirect but bright light, and do multiple takes if possible!

Always having a camera handy is my goal for this year. As much as I love my main setup, which is a Sony a6100 w/ Sigma 30mm, it's a hassle for me to cart around. I'm looking into getting a "sidearm" of a camera. Something I can put in my pocket any time I leave the house so I can be ready for anything.
True right? The adage about the best camera you can have is the one that's with you is very true. My two "regular" rigs are a Canon 5Diii and a Canon EOS3, usually with either a Sigma 24-105mm or a Sigma 35mm. I used to have a wee Canon Owl p&s that I loved and carried with me everywhere but it well and truly died last year. I have a Fujifilm Zoom Date p&s but it's not nearly as good for just whipping out of my pocket and capturing. So the search continues. In the meantime, one of the two big cameras will be in a bag with me wherever I go.

While the Canon 5D Mark III is an older camera model (released in 2012), there are still several reasons why it might be a worthwhile purchase, especially if you can find it used at a good price:

👋
What type of camera you love?
I have a Canon 5Diii and truly do love it, but I find more and more that it's a bit behind in the times (it came out in 2012) and I need to upgrade to a mirrorless equivalent like the Canon R5 - but I've used those and I hate them lol
