One of the pieces I made for Noriel's birthday week! I liked the phrase "don't let it get to you" because it can be interpreted a couple different ways that fit them very well.

IT'S NORIEL'S CREATION BIRTHDAY!!! (I'm posting it a day late but that's fine)

I was finally able to find their exact day of creation late last year and what a nice timing it was because she's now 13 both in comic AND real life! I drew a bunch of other stuff for her as well but I will be posting those separately at a different time.

Noriel would either get mischaracterized as a sassy angry and aggressive character or the exact opposite, a wholesome little baby who is harmless and needs rescuing.

I dont like either equally please my character has nuance please I swear, please dont narrow her down just because she has trauma and reacts to it in the only ways she knows. She's not aggressive for snapping when she feels threatened and she's not a harmless baby for accepting help and love. I could also see her being mischaracterized by being narrowed down to just her trauma and the things that have happened to her and I think that would make me explode. That could end up going in so many different directions and every single one I fear. Oh god and her relationship with Dawn too, god I fear it ALL with this caracter.

Kana worries me too, I think people see her as a perfectly good and nice character who just wants to give love and other characters should just accept it.

People seeing her as the perfect picture of goodness and morality are falling for her very purposeful facade. Which I guess in part I write it that way on purpose yes but it just has me worried that if people fall for it too hard, once we reach *That Scene* everyone will do a 180 and mischaracterize her as a dangerous lying bitch who is so unstable and mentally ill that she's beyond saving and needs to be put down or something. I swear if people see her character and conclude something like "so she did actually have some innate desire to hurt people this whole time!" I will literally cry.

tldr; I'm afraid people will not know how to handle mentally ill characters but I have read enough comic comment sections to know the drill.

random thought but I feel like when people want to write about abuse survivors or ptsd or something along those lines they feel like they Have to write a healing journey, as in like the character(s) learn to get over it or feel better about it enough that they arent bothered anymore by the end of the story and like.

Using this as an opportunity to show the art I made!

The world is slowly but surely becoming… Not Warrior Cats and if it becomes fully original and I like the story enough, I might make it a short comic someday. But if I do that it wont be a FA AU anymore! It'd be original characters.

Information on how the world lore is working so far under the cut!

Ok so like, this story I'm making has a big theme regarding isolation, so I don't think there are really other clans, just 1 colony that I imagine lives inside a cave or like, tunnels underground? I haven't decided if they're allowed to go outside or not yet, but I like the idea that once you join the colony (potentially a cult) you aren't really allowed to leave anymore, and if you were born there you have never really seen the outside before, only select people with higher positions get to do that.

There is a leader but the way it works is more like a royal family so its based around nepotism. Same with the "medicine cat", thou in my story starclan doesn't exist? (Cus I've never been interested in it or how it works personally.) The "medicine cat" I'm thinking of being called a hierophant or something like that and there are different ways to apply your job, Fadedpaw just happens to like using her knowledge on medicine, as does the Dawn stand in (no name yet), sort oooof not really, she just likes how bodies work. There are supernatural happenings but it seems to be going towards eldritch horror that the cult has created a religion around, so the hierophant is their only interpreter of the arcane and is ALSO under nepotism.

The king/queen and hierophant positions are based on family relations where their bloodline is believed to be blessed in a way by the arcane. Someone not blood related can join but its very rare and usually frowned upon, they need to go through a process that makes them blessed and thus "soul related" so they become part of the family. They don't always see each other as literal family (unless they literally are which is the case usually) but also yes they do, think of found family where they aren't necessarily forced to fill the role of a nuclear family, but its like they're linked together through the arcane in a way thats deeper than the norm. I'm not sure about "warriors" yet because they have no other people for them to have wars with? And my story has nothing to do with wars?? So I might get rid of it or come up with something completely new that actually fits my story and world.

That's most of what I can say rn related to the colony structure and at this point I should just make it an original thing LOL. Also a lot of this could very easily change the more I think about the themes! I came up with all of this between yesterday and today.

Wings: Island Of Ales as an AU came into existance in my brain and then I started it as a comic in the span of 4 months what in the actual hell

I think the themes (plot?) of Fade Away are less about a "healing journey", or at least not in the way I see people say that is, and way more about reconnecting with your mind and body and sense of identity/self. How it starts slow like a tiny little spark that's uncomfortable but when it makes small things finally have a bit of meaning it makes you feel powerful so you turn it into a fire that when it starts you can't stop anymore and boiling of emotions and realizations that makes the heat so intense it explodes right out of your chest and eases back into the world unfixed and painful but at least you can see it for what it is and you can never put it back again. It's not necessarily meant to be a negative or positive thing by the end of it, it just is.

I found a whole collage of concept art I made before the comic started and Loona's in it??????????

So shes existed since the beginning! She has the claw marks on her cheek which are really plot important and eventually became the eye scar, so I guess the plot point of the injury existed even back in 2017? Which opens a whole can of worms that the character that caused it existed since I was 17. Which I really didn't think was possible. Like at all. The magic of having memory issues "Huh I did that? Damn. I guess!"

It said in the description "Loona's not going to be in the comic but I'm pretty sure she meets the kids right after the story ends" (the comic was originally supposed to end on what is now chapter 1) so thats how you know them coming across the cave after falling off the island and finding Loona and Noriel almost starting a fight over it was always canon. Noriel might have actually tried to attack Loona in the old version and thats why that pictures like that lol "you're attacking me? Air jail :|"

Idk about anyone else but PERSONALLY I think "I don't want to die" is one cool as hell villain motivation ok.

I dont care what anyone else says, I want to watch that fucking loser do everything in their power to not die and inevitably end up being their own biggest downfall because of it.
