When I started planning my exhibition I knew that I wanted include plates because I love making plates. But I wasn't sure the best way to hang them, I didn't want to do a plate rail and I definitely didn't want to see the little metal wire brackets. My plates don't have a foot so I couldn't wrap wire around it (or drill holes through it like I did for my bowls) I had to come up with something else. I tried adding bits of clay that I can tie wire to but it just wasn't going to hang the way I wanted. I turned to Amazon for help and I came across these really great disc plate hangers. You wet the glue and stick them on. For my show I had this last minute idea that I didn't want typed little item numbers next to my pieces, I wanted something different so I made these. It was so last minute that they were single fired and I had not tried single firing this clay/glaze combo before . I made a whole set that hangs and a whole set that could sit on a plinth. Just a bag full of handles. I've got 25 or so mugs to get handles on. I made these a couple of nights ago and they've just been hanging out in plastic since then. Morning coffee with Carlisle's dancing. This kid does not stop moving, he regularily starts dance sessions with strangers. This is one of my pour overs with a @sarahtancred mug, I traded her for while we were post-baccs at University of Florida. The pitcher is one of my soda pots I made while at ACAD. I keep trying to leave areas unpainted on a handful of pots. This little slab built pot only has painted leaves on the bottom and its not even textured. I have been meaning to make damp boxes for over a year. Shallow plastic lidded bin with aboit an inch or so of pottery plaster in the bottom. As long as you keep the plaster saturated and the lid on you can keep your pots at a workable state without wasting time wrapping everything in plastic.
