New Brunswick Launches Two Enhanced PNP Pathways for Permanent Residency
Starting March 5, 2025, the New Brunswick Provincial Nominee Program (NBPNP) has begun accepting Expressions of Interest (EOIs) for two Express Entry-aligned immigration streams. These pathways provide skilled workers with an opportunity to secure a provincial nomination, paving the way for Canadian permanent residency.
New Brunswick PNP Pathways Now Open
The following two enhanced Express Entry pathways are now available for applicants:
Employment in New Brunswick Pathway
New Brunswick Interests Pathway
However, certain occupations have been excluded from eligibility for these invitations.
Updated Eligibility Criteria for 2025
To improve accessibility while maintaining program integrity, the NBPNP has revised key eligibility conditions, including:
Lowering the minimum eligible age from 22 to 19 years.
Increasing residency requirements and implementing a mandatory 12-month full-time work experience requirement for applicants under the Employment in New Brunswick Pathway.
This intake marks the first of 2025, following adjustments to the NBPNP’s structure in response to a reduction in provincial nomination allocations.
Unlike previous intakes, EOIs will not be assessed on a first-come, first-served basis. Instead, selection will prioritize economic and labor market demands in New Brunswick.
New Brunswick’s Immigration Allocation for 2025
For this year, New Brunswick has been allocated 2,750 total nominations, distributed as follows:
NBPNP: 1,500 nominations
Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP): 1,250 nominations
Who Can Apply for New Brunswick’s Provincial Nomination?
Each Express Entry-aligned pathway has distinct eligibility requirements. Below are the criteria applicants must meet to be considered for an invitation.
Pathway-Specific Eligibility Requirements
PathwayEligibility CriteriaEmployment in New Brunswick– Must have resided in New Brunswick and worked full-time for a local employer for at least 12 consecutive months.New Brunswick Interests– Must have received a Letter of Interest (LOI) from ImmigrationNB through their federal Express Entry profile. – Must have at least one year of continuous full-time or equivalent part-time work experience in the past 10 years.
General Eligibility Requirements for Both Pathways
Applicants under these pathways must also meet the following conditions:
Hold a valid Express Entry profile.
Achieve at least CLB/NCLC 7 in all four language abilities (English or French).
Meet the minimum proof of funds requirement (if not exempt).
Have obtained a Canadian high school diploma or an equivalent foreign credential.
Demonstrate a genuine intent to settle and work permanently in New Brunswick.
Be between 19 and 55 years of age.
Obtain a minimum of 67 points on New Brunswicks Express Entry selection grid.
Employment positions under both pathways must be classified within NOC TEER (Training, Education, Experience, and Responsibilities) levels 0, 1, 2, or 3.
Important Notice:
Meeting the eligibility criteria does not guarantee an invitation for provincial nomination. Selection is based on New Brunswick’s economic needs and labor market priorities.

Sponsoring a child for immigration to Canada.
If a child qualifies as a dependent and the parent fulfills the criteria to act as a sponsor, the parent is eligible to submit an application for the child to obtain Canadian permanent residency.
Canada’s family class immigration program permits the sponsorship of children, spouses, common-law or conjugal partners, as well as parents and grandparents. This category represents approximately 25% of all new permanent residents welcomed into Canada annually.
In cases where a child is born in Canada or has a parent who is a Canadian citizen, there is a significant likelihood that the child is already a Canadian citizen. If you believe you or your child may fit this description, you can utilize Canada’s citizenship tool for verification.
To be eligible for sponsorship, both the sponsoring parent and the dependent child must satisfy the eligibility criteria outlined by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
To be eligible as a sponsor for a child seeking Canadian immigration:
To be eligible as a sponsor for a child seeking Canadian immigration, a parent must be at least 18 years of age and hold status as either a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident.
All supports are required to commit to satisfying the fundamental needs of the person they expected to sponsor. Furthermore, sponsors must sign an undertaking, which obligates them to provide financial support to their sponsored family member once that individual attains permanent residency, as well as to reimburse any social help installments gotten by the supported family part amid the term of the undertaking.
There are specific circumstances that may render a parent ineligible to sponsor their child:
If the parent was sponsored to obtain permanent residency in Canada less than five years before submitting a sponsorship application.
If the parent does not plan to reside in Canada with the sponsored child after the child becomes a permanent resident.
If the parent is a lasting inhabitant living exterior of Canada. (It is important to note that Canadian citizens can submit a sponsorship application regardless of their current country of residence, provided they intend to live in Canada with the sponsored relative once the application is approved.)
If the parent is receiving social assistance for reasons other than a disability.
If the parent is incarcerated or has been convicted of specific criminal offenses, particularly those involving family members.
In general, the sponsoring parent is not required to provide proof of financial income. However, if the dependent child being sponsored has dependents of their own, the parent must meet a specified income threshold.
For those residing in Quebec and wishing to sponsor a child, it is essential to comply with Quebec’s immigration sponsorship requirements in addition to the criteria outlined in this document.
Super Visa:
There are instances where potential sponsors may find themselves unable or unwilling to pursue the Parent and Grandparent Program. This situation may arise if they have not received an invitation to apply or if they wish to expedite the arrival of their parent(s) or grandparent(s) to Canada.
Fortunately, an alternative exists. The IRCC permits the parents and grandparents of Canadian citizens and permanent residents to undertake extended visits to Canada through the Super Visa program. This visa allows individuals to be approved for a stay of up to two years upon their initial entry into Canada. The Super Visa itself is valid for a duration of up to 10 years, enabling holders to return to Canada as long as the visa remains in effect.
It is important to note that the Super Visa does not constitute a pathway to permanent residency. Applicants are required to secure private medical insurance and are not permitted to work in Canada unless they receive specific authorization. Nevertheless, the relatively swift processing times associated with this program enable families to reunite in Canada more quickly than they might under the Parent and Grandparent Program. Additionally, applicants are not required to wait for an invitation; if they meet the eligibility criteria, they may submit their application at any time and potentially gain approval to enter Canada.
Children: Criteria for Sponsorship in Canadian Immigration
To qualify for sponsorship under Canadian immigration, your child must align with the definition of a dependant as established by Canadian law. There are two criteria to set up this status:
The child is under 22 years of age and does not have a spouse or common-law partner; or
The child is 22 years or older and is unable to support themselves financially due to a mental or physical condition, having relied on their parents for financial assistance since before turning 22.
Furthermore, qualification for sponsorship requires that you are supporting your possessive child or the child of your life partner or partner. If you intend to sponsor a child who is not your own but is the child of your spouse or partner, you must also be sponsoring your spouse or partner concurrently. It is important to note that Canada has a distinct process for the sponsorship of adopted children.
To decide if your child qualifies for sponsorship, you may utilize the IRCC’s device outlined to evaluate a child’s status as a dependant.
All family individuals being supported must not be unacceptable to Canada. Applicants under the family class may be considered inadmissible due to previous criminal offenses or medical conditions that could jeopardize public health and safety in Canada.
Importantly, family members who are sponsored are exempt from being deemed medically inadmissible solely on the basis of imposing excessive demand on the Canadian healthcare system. This means that if a sponsored family member has a medical condition that necessitates expensive treatment, they will not be denied immigration on those grounds.
The process of applying to sponsor a child for Canadian immigration:
The process of applying to sponsor a child for Canadian immigration consists of two main elements. Initially, the applicant must demonstrate that they fulfill the necessary qualifications to act as a sponsor. Subsequently, the applicant must establish that the child qualifies for sponsorship for Canadian permanent residency.
To assist in the application process, potential sponsors can refer to IRCC’s Guide 5525, which provides comprehensive information regarding the family sponsorship application.
It is important to recognize that family sponsorship applications are subject to specific requirements based on the applicant’s country. To ascertain these requirements, applicants should consult the IRCC’s family sponsorship application package page. By entering their information, IRCC will produce the relevant checklists, forms, and instructions related to the sponsorship of the child.
Family sponsorship applications must be submitted in paper format. The application should be compiled in a single envelope and sent to IRCC via mail or courier. The fee for sponsoring a child is CAD $150, and the processing time may vary depending on the child’s country of residence.
Regarding the concepts of inland and outland sponsorship for children, while IRCC does not officially categorize applications in this manner, these terms are often associated with spousal sponsorship. An inland application pertains to a situation where the sponsored individual is currently in Canada, whereas an outland application refers to a case where the sponsored individual is outside of Canada.
However, these distinctions do not apply to child sponsorship for Canadian immigration, as all applications for child sponsorship are processed at a visa office located in Canada.
Family Sponsorship and Express Entry:
It is important to note that Express Entry, along with various other economic immigration categories in Canada, permits parents and children to apply for permanent residency concurrently. This implies that individuals who meet the criteria for an Express Entry-aligned program can include their spouse or partner, as well as any dependent children, in their initial application.
In numerous instances, this provision eliminates the necessity of sponsoring family members at a later stage, thereby facilitating the ability for families to remain united. However, prospective applicants must first establish an Express Entry profile and obtain an invitation to apply in order to gain admission to Canada through this program.

Comprehensive Guide to Express Entry Canada
The Express Entry system is a popular pathway for skilled workers to immigrate to Canada and obtain permanent residency. In this guide, we'll explore everything you need to know about Express Entry Canada, including its benefits, eligibility criteria, application process, and tips for a successful application.
Benefits of Express Entry Canada
1. Fast Processing Times
Express Entry applications are processed quickly, with most applicants receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) within months of submitting their profile.
2. Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS)
The CRS evaluates candidates based on factors such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and adaptability. This ensures that the most qualified candidates are selected for permanent residency.
3. Access to Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs)
Candidates in the Express Entry pool may be nominated by Canadian provinces and territories through their respective PNPs, increasing their chances of receiving an ITA.
4. Flexibility
Express Entry candidates have the flexibility to update their profiles and improve their CRS scores while in the pool, increasing their chances of receiving an ITA.
Eligibility for Express Entry Canada
1. Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
To be eligible for the FSWP, candidates must have at least one year of skilled work experience, meet language requirements in English or French, and score sufficient points on the CRS.
2. Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
Candidates applying under the FSTP must have at least two years of full-time work experience in a skilled trade, meet language requirements, and score sufficient points on the CRS.
3. Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
CEC candidates must have at least one year of skilled work experience in Canada, meet language requirements, and score sufficient points on the CRS.
Application Process for Express Entry Canada
1. Create an Express Entry Profile
Create an online profile on the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website and provide information about your skills, work experience, education, language ability, and other details.
2. Receive Invitation to Apply (ITA)
Candidates with the highest CRS scores are issued ITAs during regular draws conducted by IRCC. Once you receive an ITA, you have 60 days to submit a complete application for permanent residency.
3. Submit Permanent Residency Application
Submit your complete application for permanent residency, including supporting documents and payment of fees, within the specified timeframe.
4. Provide Biometrics and Medical Exam
Attend a biometrics appointment and undergo a medical examination as part of the permanent residency application process.
5. Wait for Decision
Once your application is submitted, wait for a decision from IRCC. If approved, you will receive your Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and instructions on how to obtain your permanent resident card.
Tips for a Successful Express Entry Application
1. Maximize Your CRS Score
Take steps to maximize your CRS score by improving your language proficiency, gaining additional work experience, obtaining education credentials assessments, and securing a job offer or provincial nomination.
2. Double-Check Your Application
Ensure that all information provided in your Express Entry profile and permanent residency application is accurate and up-to-date. Any mistakes or discrepancies could result in delays or rejection.
3. Plan Ahead
Plan your Express Entry application carefully, taking into account the processing times, document requirements, and deadlines. Start gathering necessary documents and preparing for language tests well in advance.
4. Seek Professional Assistance
Consider seeking assistance from an immigration consultant or lawyer to guide you through the Express Entry process and ensure that your application is complete and accurate.
Conclusion
Express Entry Canada is a streamlined and efficient way for skilled workers to immigrate to Canada and obtain permanent residency. By understanding the eligibility criteria, navigating the application process, and following these tips, you can increase your chances of success and start your new life in Canada.

Canada's 2025 Express Entry Overhaul: Major Changes You Need to Know
The Canadian immigration landscape is undergoing a major transformation as Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) unveils the latest updates to the Express Entry system for 2025. These changes impact how candidates are selected, which occupations are prioritized, and how Canada is shaping its skilled labor market.
For aspiring immigrants, understanding these updates is crucial for planning a successful pathway to permanent residency. In this blog, AAR Overseas breaks down the key changes and their implications for Express Entry applicants.
Key Express Entry Changes for 2025
IRCC has introduced significant modifications, including the addition of a new Education category and the removal of the Transport category. Several other occupation-based categories have been restructured, with some professions added and others removed.
Revised Express Entry Categories for 2025
As of 2025, Express Entry category-based draws will now prioritize the following:
French-language proficiency
Healthcare and Social Service occupations (Expanded to include social service roles)
Trades occupations
Education occupations (Newly introduced)
In addition, the following categories remain in the system but are not prioritized for invitations:
Agriculture and Agri-food occupations
Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM) occupations
What Are the New Occupation Changes?
IRCC has revised the list of occupations eligible under various Express Entry categories. Here’s a breakdown of the key changes:
Healthcare and Social Services
Newly Added Roles:
Pharmacists (NOC 31120)
Social and community service workers (NOC 42201)
Social workers (NOC 41300)
Animal health technologists and veterinary technicians (NOC 32104)
Plus, four more professions
Removed Roles:
Educational counsellors (NOC 41320)
Traditional Chinese medicine practitioners (NOC 32200)
Kinesiologists (NOC 31204)
Plus, three more roles
STEM Occupations
Newly Added:
Civil engineering technologists and technicians (NOC 22300)
Electrical and electronics engineering technologists (NOC 22310)
Geological Engineers (NOC 21331)
Plus, three more
Removed Occupations:
Architects (NOC 21200)
Data scientists (NOC 21211)
Software developers (NOC 21232)
Web developers (NOC 21234)
Plus, 15 more
Trades Occupations
Newly Added:
Gas fitters (NOC 72302)
Industrial electricians (NOC 72201)
Construction managers (NOC 70010)
Home building and renovation managers (NOC 70011)
Plus, 15 more
Removed:
Elevator constructors and mechanics (NOC 72406)
Residential and commercial installers (NOC 73200)
Machine fitters (NOC 72405)
Plus, one more
Agriculture and Agri-Food
Newly Added:
Contractors and supervisors in horticulture and landscaping (NOC 82031)
Agricultural service contractors and farm supervisors (NOC 82030)
Removed:
Two unspecified roles
Introduction of the Education Category
For the first time, IRCC has introduced an Education category, recognizing the growing demand for skilled educators. Occupations in this category include:
Elementary and secondary school teacher assistants (NOC 43100)
Early childhood educators (NOC 42202)
Elementary school and kindergarten teachers (NOC 41221)
Secondary school teachers (NOC 41220)
Instructors for persons with disabilities (NOC 42203)
Why Did Canada Introduce These Changes?
Canada is refining its Express Entry system to better address workforce shortages in key sectors. The Education category acknowledges the critical need for teachers, while the expanded Healthcare and Social Services category responds to the growing demand for medical professionals and social workers. The removal of certain STEM occupations suggests that Canada has met its labor market needs in those areas or is shifting priorities elsewhere.
Moreover, Canada continues to emphasize French-language proficiency, reinforcing its commitment to bilingualism outside Quebec. Francophone immigrants will remain a priority for selection.
How These Changes Affect Express Entry Candidates
These modifications bring both new opportunities and challenges for prospective immigrants:
Educators have a direct pathway – Teachers and education professionals now have a dedicated category in Express Entry.
More opportunities for healthcare and social workers – A broader range of professions is now eligible.
Reduced chances for IT and engineering professionals – Several high-demand STEM occupations have been removed.
Boost for trades workers – The addition of 19 new occupations benefits skilled trades professionals.
What Should Express Entry Candidates Do Next?
With these changes, applicants must carefully review their eligibility and tailor their Express Entry profiles accordingly. Those whose occupations were removed may need to explore alternative pathways, such as Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs) or employer-sponsored LMIA work permits.

Unlocking Canada: A Comprehensive Guide to Permanent Residency
Obtaining permanent residency (PR) in Canada is a significant milestone for individuals seeking to live and work in the country. In this guide, we'll explore the essential aspects of Canada PR, including its benefits, eligibility criteria, application process, and tips for a successful application.
Benefits of Canada PR
Permanent Residence Status: As a Canadian permanent resident, you have the right to live, work, and study anywhere in Canada indefinitely.
Access to Social Benefits: Permanent residents are entitled to various social benefits, including healthcare coverage, education subsidies, and social assistance programs.
Pathway to Citizenship: After residing in Canada as a permanent resident for a certain period, you may be eligible to apply for Canadian citizenship.
Employment Opportunities: Canadian permanent residents enjoy the same employment rights as Canadian citizens, including access to a wide range of job opportunities and industries.
Eligibility for Canada PR
Express Entry System: To qualify for Canada PR through the Express Entry system, you must meet the eligibility requirements of one of the three federal immigration programs: the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, or the Canadian Experience Class.
Provincial Nominee Programs (PNPs): Many Canadian provinces and territories have their own nomination programs that allow them to nominate individuals for PR based on specific criteria, such as occupation, work experience, and ties to the province.
Family Sponsorship: Canadian citizens and permanent residents can sponsor their family members, including spouses, partners, children, parents, and grandparents, for Canada PR.
Application Process for Canada PR
Determine Eligibility: Assess your eligibility for Canada PR based on the requirements of the selected immigration program or provincial nominee program.
Submit Expression of Interest (EOI): For Express Entry and some provincial nominee programs, you may need to submit an Expression of Interest (EOI) to indicate your interest in immigrating to Canada.
Receive Invitation to Apply (ITA): If you meet the eligibility criteria and score high enough in the Express Entry pool or receive a nomination from a province or territory, you will receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for Canada PR.
Submit PR Application: Complete and submit your PR application online through the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website within the specified timeframe.
Provide Biometrics and Medical Exam: Attend a biometrics appointment and undergo a medical examination as part of the PR application process.
Wait for Decision: Once your application is submitted, wait for a decision from IRCC. If approved, you will receive your Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) and PR card.
Tips for a Successful Canada PR Application
Ensure Accuracy and Completeness: Double-check all information provided in your application to ensure accuracy and completeness. Incomplete or incorrect information can result in delays or rejection.
Submit Supporting Documents: Include all required supporting documents with your application to demonstrate your eligibility for Canada PR.
Follow Instructions Carefully: Read and follow the instructions provided by IRCC carefully when completing your PR application to avoid mistakes.
Seek Professional Assistance: Consider seeking assistance from an immigration consultant or lawyer to guide you through the Canada PR application process and increase your chances of success.
Conclusion
Canada PR offers a pathway to a secure and prosperous future for individuals and families looking to make Canada their permanent home. By understanding the eligibility criteria, navigating the application process, and following these tips, you can increase your chances of obtaining Canada PR and starting a new chapter in your life in this diverse and welcoming country.
