I've been trying to learn the world flags so I can identify them (for funsies) and I'm going by continent, starting with America because I am here 🇸🇻 💙
(Putting this under a readmore because longish post about thing that's probably not v interesting so I dont wanna be too annoying BUT. I wanna talk abt it a little anywayz sooo)
It's been SOOO fun, it's really exciting to see a random flag somewhere and to know whose flag it is : -D I passed by a travel agency poster thing with a bunch of South American and Caribbean flags and ahcdbjncd it feels so nice to know things
(only thing is that I've been pronouncing every country name in spanish, which would be correct for most of South America but like. not All of it, I'm sorry Suriname I didnt know the E is silent.. also 4 the Caribbean islands srry 4 pronouncing it Hamáica and Ay-tee(Haití) sobS)
I've been ignoring the USA and Canada flags completely, so a funny side effect of tht is I've been grouping up flags in categories where those 2 would fit, but I only notice a while after hbjnHBN
I was thinking "Out of the America flags, I can only think of 2 that are a vertical tricolor flag with white on the middle and red in one (or 2) of the sides.. Mexico 🇲🇽 and Perú 🇵🇪 😁" .. I forgor canada exists
And I was thinking "Oh there's SO many flags with the france colors here, there's Costa Rica 🇨🇷, Panamá 🇵🇦, República Dominicana 🇩🇴, Chile 🇨🇱, Cuba 🇨🇺, Puerto Rico 🇵🇷, Paraguay 🇵🇾, and Belice 🇧🇿 technically 😁, so many stars too" .. I forgor abt USA
Thinking also of the few flags that are a tricolor flag with white on the middle and blue on the sides,, El Salvador 🇸🇻 mi amor mi cielo mi vida she's in there with Guatemala 🇬🇹, Honduras 🇭🇳, Nicaragua 🇳🇮 and Argentina 🇦🇷
I'm excited to learn the rest of the flags of the other continents and see which ones I like the most, atm my favorites are El Salvador 🇸🇻(which will never change because I'm VERY biased) Bahamas 🇧🇸 and Trinidad and Tobago 🇹🇹, they look SO nice.. I'm excited to get to Africa, Botswana's flag 🇧🇼 looks super nice too.
(Hope the emojis aren't annoying, I included them so you don't have to google them)
Anytime I start even Thinking about flags, I inevitably spend at least an hour looking at them and I open a Million wikipedia and googleimages tabs about it.. I think it's been like 2 hours since I started typing this because I kept getting distracted with that.
I love any chance I get to talk about flags : -]
#personal#learning is SO hard; maybe tht's why I'm so proud of this.. I think it's been fun and not torture to learn these bc it's pictures#I just need to put the right image and the right name together#and learning things visually might be easier to do? idk. it's been a while since I've learnt something successfully; so Im rly happy

Мнемиопсис - древнейший, люминесцентный организм.
Mnemiopsis is an ancient, luminescent organism.
Ctenophores are not jellyfish, and they are not even related to them, although it is impossible to call them anything else. Externally, Mnemiopsis are light, transparent, with blade-like skirts and paddle plates. They do not have a brain, heart, or skeleton, but they do have a nervous system, an organ of balance, and the ability to luminesce. Mnemiopsis is a predator, a carnivore that feeds on zooplankton, eggs, and larvae of fish and mollusks. In the light it shimmers with bright colors, at night it gives the sea waves a yellowish luminescent glow.
According to the latest data from scientists, the ctenophore is one of the first living creatures on planet Earth. Previously it was believed that this title belongs to sea sponges - much more primitive creatures. More recently, the Ctenophore Mnemiopsis (Mnemiopsis leidyi) lived only on the other side of the ocean: along the eastern coast of North and South America, from Canada to Argentina. But, thanks to intensive shipping, it moved to Europe along with ballast waters. As it turns out, the ctenophore can adapt to a wide range of salinity. Now its habitat includes the Black Sea, the Azov, Aegean and Marmara Seas, the western coast of Sweden, even the almost fresh Baltic Sea.

Aéronavale s/n NX665 "WU-13" [Avro Lancaster B.VII] masquerading as an RAF Bomber Command Mk. III s/n NE181 "JN-M" at MoTaT.
Built too late for the war, the various Mk. VIIs were put into reserve and eventually refurbished to meet RAF reconnaissance standards. The intent of which was to support the fledgling Westen Union/Brussels Treaty Organisation* and as a result, NX665 was sold to the French Government and impressed into the Fleet Air Arm (Aéronavale).
As an Aéronavale aircraft, it was deployed in Morroco, Vietnam, and Nouvelle Calédonie. It was one of two Lancasters operating out of Nouvelle Calédonie in the late 1950s.
By the 60s Aéronavale was replacing their Lancasters with Douglas C-54 Skymasters and after an inquiry from one of MoTaT's founders NX665 was flown to Auckland on 15/04/64 alongside NX611 "WU-15" which was to ferry the crew back home.
Its final flight was on 16/04/64 over Northland with just 2348.3 hours on log. In preservation, it was modified to appear as a Mk. III with turrets sourced from Argentina and Canada. After spending time as both ND752 "AA-O" and PB457 "SP-V", it was repainted as NE181 "JN-M" of 75 (NZ) Sqaudron RAF.
*Eventually became the EU and NATO.

I might be biased (actually, I’m totally biased lmao) but outside of the fandom I feel like JK and JM are the most popular and well-known members. People around me like my sisters, my boyfriend, friends, coworkers… if I ask them to name a few members they will definitely say JM and JK, maybe Suga as well and JHope since Lollapalooza. Maybe it depends on whether people are on Twitter or socmed or if they keep up with music releases in general. I find it interesting that photoshoot rumor has been automatically linked to Tae and JK. If it’s true I’m curious to see how it will come out. I’m a bit on the fence to be honest but hey, those two look handsome so I’ll take it anyway haha maybe I’ll get called out for saying this but I think the fandom and especially a certain kind of fans tend to overestimate Tae’s popularity outside of Army.
Okay anon. This sounds like a fan game. Let's do it. I'm on Google. I won't have enough room for images so just take my word for it 😂😂😂. I'm just gonna type in a bunch of countries. Here we go.
Korea - Jimin (we know this one so let's just drop it here)
US - JK
Japan - V (with 1.7 million votes)
UK - Jhope
Now that one surprises me. Which, idk why coz he's fucking amazing but I didn't expect him to be the most popular here. I mean good for him though 💜
Australia - Jimin
India - V
South Africa - JK
Russia - V
France - V
Germany - Jimin
Brazil - Jimin
Turkey - Jimin
Argentina - Jimin
China - V (Damn son!)
Vietnam - Jimin (I'm shooketh 👀)
Nigeria - Jhope (why do I keep getting surprised 😂😂)
Malaysia - JK
Singapore - JK
Canada- Suga (finally!)
Italy- JK
Thailand - JK
Who's the most popular member in the world you ask? Drumroll please........ 🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁🥁 JK!!!!!
Anon this game was fun in the beginning but now I have to stop because its getting depressing. 21 countries I looked up. Where's the love for Namjin?

Curatorial Text:
CALIGRAPHIC POETICS OF ASÉMIC WRITING
por Tchello d’Barros*
“Asemic writing seems to be a gigantic, unexplored territory.”
Tim Gaze
The exhibition “ESCRIBAS – 1st International Exhibition of Asémic Writing” presents a collection of works in images with abstract spellings, in the language that is becoming known as Asémic Writing. The set, made up of creations from different parts of the planet, also reveals the plurality of techniques and resources for the realization of these works, transiting between calligraphy, abstraction, engraving and even Visual Poetry.
This show promoted by Instituto Imersão Latina in partnership with The Virtual Museum of Visual Poetry, features 26 works by artists from 18 countries in the V Beagá Psiu Poético program, setting up the first international collective exhibition of this modality held in Brazil.
Spontaneously arising in different cultures throughout history, consolidated as an artistic language at the end of the 20th century, the Asémic Writing still very rare, has been gaining visibility, whether with exhibitions, publications, epistemological studies or placement on the Internet. This hybrid art, which transits between word and image, survived the typographic tsunami of the digital age, privileging handwriting (mainly), albeit abstract, as an expressive manifestation.
The works are made up of often invented letters, words that keep calligraphic remnants, sentence fragments that form thought-provoking abstract figures, configuring every movement that has thickened its network of supporters on all continents. It is an art free of academic labels, institutional immobilization and shallow public cultural policies for the promotion, collection and dissemination of experimental languages. Drawing, painting, infogravure, collages, digital art, interventions and photographs are just some of the resources present in this type of creations, presented here from a perspective of diversity of styles.
It is said of the works of Asémic Writing, which are purposely emptied of meaning – because they are absent of enunciation or message – which does not prevent them from making sense, from the perception of those who observe, since there is a silent dialogue between such contents and the entire lexical and imagery framework of those who immerse themselves in viewing these images.
Theorists of Art in Expanded Field or Expanded Poetry, usually place Asémic Writing in the broad scope of Experimental Poetry. So, provoking reflections on the poetic phenomenon in aspects that strain the limits of language, questioning aesthetic aspects of the hybridity characteristic of contemporary art and provoke the debate about where the compass of poetic making points in our time, are some of the premises that guided the curatorial process for this show.

Authorities said at least seven people were killed Saturday when part of a ferry dock collapsed on Georgia's Sapelo Island, where crowds had gathered for a fall celebration by the island's tiny Gullah-Geechee community of Black slave descendants.
Two stories... the tragedy of the collapse of the ferry gang plank, and the history of these Black separatist islands. And a third story of homes being sold (increased taxes) as vacation homes... not a good sign, of course…

A rare 237-year-old copy of the US Constitution has been sold at auction for a whopping $9m (£7m).MORE…
The copy was printed in 1787 after delegates from the colonial states met for the Constitutional Convention and drafted what would become the founding document of the US federal government.
There are believed to be only eight copies like this one left in existence, and seven of them are publicly owned.
Why did it sell for such a low value? Paintings often sell for 20x this. This is a valuation you could see on Antique Roadshow. How is a copy of the US Constitution not a good investment?

The best time to look is during the hours before sunrise on Monday morning.

I know you guys prefer news on this newsletter, but I just wanted to share this quote which I found very interesting...
“Man should not be able to see his own face -- there’s nothing more sinister. Nature gave him the gift of not being able to see it, and of not being able to stare into his own eyes. Only in the water of rivers and ponds could he look at his face. And the very posture he had to assume was symbolic. He had to bend over, stoop down, to commit the ignominy of beholding himself. The inventor of the mirror poisoned the human heart.”
