Up today, s4e13: After School Special

Below is a log of our real-time reactions as we watched. Remember that there may be spoilers for any part of SPN’s 15-season run here. Note also that the nature of our conversation is adult and thus it may contain adult language and themes.

When a high school girl drowns a bully in a school toilet and insists later that she felt like she was possessed during the incident, Sam and Dean are on the case. And the high school in question? Just so happens to be one they attended briefly as teenagers. The boys go undercover in the school as a janitor (Sam) and a P.E. teacher (Dean) to see what they can find out. As more students are hurt by possessed classmates, the boys discover that the culprit is the ghost of a boy named Dirk who attended the school with Sam and Dean and was horribly bullied after they were no longer at the school. Through a series of flashbacks, we learn what Sam and Dean were going through themselves at that school, and see that Dirk had been a bully to Sam and his friend until Sam knocked Dirk out in a fight and labeled him with a moniker that would become the focus of the bullying directed toward him. Sam and Dean rid the school of the ghost, but not without a considerable amount of fraught. And in the end when Sam seeks out a teacher who had been important to him to say thank you, the teacher asks if Sam is happy. End episode. It’s outsiders all the way down, man.

I just love that moment so much. that Sam takes the time to go talk to the teacher and the teacher is still seeing things in him others aren't

Mace:

and the way in both the past and the present, Dean is being supportive in his own way but not really GETTING the issue Sam's dealing with

Mace:

YEP

Lor:

and the teacher, probably because HE is outside their group, DOES see the issue

such a nice little moment

Mace:

I think it’s because he’s good at spotting the outsiders, which is what good teachers can do, not necessarily because he’s outside their group because if that were the case then lots of other people would see what’s going on and they clearly don't

SPOILERS FOR SDR2

Love Confession to the SDR2 Boys

Hajime Hinata:

- You all had lost so many people. Byakuya, Teruteru, Mahiru, Peko, Ibuki, Hiyoko, Mikan. It hurt. A lot.

- Hajime seemed to know exactly how you felt, as he almost immediately found you the next day and stayed at your side as you explored the new island.

- You were scared, and it was clear to Hajime. He just didn’t understand the complete story behind your worry.

- Yes, you were scared for your life and the life of everyone around you, but you were scared because of what you felt.

- The inkling of feelings for the brunet had started early on, but you had fought it. Now you were scared that you really did had feelings, even more so that you might never get to actually act on these emotions.

- You didn’t know it, but Hajime felt the same way. You were more than what he could ever hope for in a partner, but he was cautious. He knew the high possibility of ruining his friendship with you if he said something and you didn’t feel the same. It could have other drastic responses as well.

- No matter was, he kept at your side the entire time, even pulling you into the front car of the rollercoaster as your dwindling group got on to ride it.

- He stayed almost pressed against you as you all traveled to the train to the Funhouse and once again pulled you to him.

- Oh, how you wished you had stayed satisfied without new information and ship parts.

- You were the first to notice the gas starting to fill the room the train was stopped in. The second you saw it, you gripped onto his.

- Your voice was hurried as you spoke, feeling your consciousness slipping.

- “Hajime, I love you.”

- His eyes widened as he stared at you. Only moments later, you both passed out.

- When he woke up, his eyes met yours as you hovered over him. His eyes widened as he remembered what happened. You… loved him?

- You realized that he remembered. You were frantic to try and brush off what happened, but you were cut off with lips against yours.

- “I love you too. Stay safe. For me.”

Fuyuhiko Kuzuryu:

- You were more than panicked when Fuyuhiko had run out to try and save Peko. You knew their relationship. They were close. You could tell even before Peko’s class trial.

- Fuyuhiko wasn’t exactly distant from you all things considered, which was surprising to even you. You had said something right even before Teruteru’s trial and the yakuza had decided that you were worth his time.

- When it was revealed that he was alive, you had sprinted out of the trial grounds and to the execution field, not hesitating to kneel down and look over him.

- He looked bad. Really bad. The cut that was across half his face worried you the most.

- You didn’t let him get taken away at first. There was no good reason for you to trust Monokuma with taking care of Fuyuhiko. Not when you had developed feelings for him. No that wasn’t important. That didn’t even seem appropriate.

- You had been the first to see Fuyuhiko after being told by Mikan that he was in stable condition. He seemed like he was spacing out when you stepped into the room, but with a gentle call of his name, his attention was on you.

- His pale face seemed to brighten as his eyes landed on you. It was unnatural, especially paired with the faint smile that accompanied it.

- You felt adrenaline start to rush through your veins as you stared at him for a moment. Was that the reason behind your next actions? Or was it just the pure fear of a next time happening and being the end of him?

- Fuyuhiko was steadily becoming worried due to your frozen expression.

- “S/O?”

- You blinked as you shook out of your daze.

- “Fuyuhiko, I…” You froze before sighing. “I care about you. A lot. I have feelings for you. Romantic feelings.”

- Not earning a response, you quickly turned on your heel to leave. His quiet voice was what stopped you.

- “I do too.”

- When you looked back at him, his face was a bright pink.

- “I really do.”

Gundham Tanaka:

- You were the only one on the entire island that seemed to perfectly match and work with Gundham eccentric personality. That’s the main reason that you and the Ultimate Breeder became friends so quickly.

- However, as you slowly grew closer to him and started to learn more about his past, he started to reveal more about his true self to you. To say it simply, he would trust you with his life and you would trust him with yours.

- So why did Gundham betray you like this?

- You wanted to deny and endlessly fight that Gundham was Nekomaru’s killer. This was Gundham, one of the sweetest people that you had ever met in your life despite his outward act and appearance. He could never be a killer, no matter what he said to people.

- You fought Hajime tooth and nail as he tried to push forward and convince you that your friend was the killer.

- You caught one crucial part that would push Gundham back as the killer. One that Hajime hadn’t even fought Gundham about.

- “How did he press Nekomaru’s Good Night Button? It would be impossible!”

- Hajime’s quick rebuttal of Gundham using the Four Dark Devas caused your breakdown and Gundham’s admit.

- Gundham’s face showed evidence of guilt for causing you pain as you fell to your knees, Hajime reluctantly going over the entirety of the case. You hated reaching up and pressing his name.

- You zoned out as Monokuma confirmed your vote as correct and the culprit gave his reasoning behind his actions.

- You only snapped out of it as you heard him gently call your name, his brash personality doing a complete 180.

- You didn’t let him talk anymore as you forced yourself up and ran to him, quickly latching your arms around his neck and kissing him.

- You could barely exchange more than three words with him before he was pulled off.

- “I love you.”

- He paused.

- “And I love you.”
