I said I'd make a post detailing my kid Asra working for Lucio theory in this post so here it is!
So Let's get STARDED.
So! To start off, how it began. We do know when Asra and Muriel were kids, Lucio came to them each seperately with a deal.
Essentially: work for me, or I'll hurt your friend.
Tumblr media
This was the sentiment he repeated for both of them. So, not wanting the other to be harmed, they both agree - unaware of the other's deal.
For Muriel, it was playing heel/excecutioner at the coleseium. For Asra, it was doing... Well, we never know, aside from he worked under Lucio. But that's what we are here to discuss in any case.
Continued under the read more, for the sake of people's dashes.
Now presumably, if I got my timeline right, Asra at this time would've been around 12 or 13. We don't know much about how Asra was when he was younger, other than that he has certainly changed.
It's also worth noting that it's not amiss to say they were both also still homeless at the time, and the hut hadn't come into the play until after.
Tumblr media
Asra was still living on the streets.
This all isn't overly important for any of my claims later, but perhaps someone else could make something of it. It does provide us with some framing for the situation as a whole, though.
Now onto Asra's time under Lucio. I don't know that we have any indication of how long it was, but presumably at least a year if not more.
We do also know that Lucio knew who Asra was. Both in that he knew Aisha and Salim had a kid, and that he knew Asra was said kid.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This is bring this up because we know Aisha and Salim were incredibly talented, and likely incredibly powerful. Lucio wouldn't settle for any run of the mill magician or alchemist for the work he needed. So he must've had some idea that Asra may take after that power as well.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
To top it off, he also interacted and talked with the dock kids he also used, (two of which would actually later become palace guards,) and seeing as this is seemingly how he learned of Muriel, it's not off to think that this is also how he heard of Asra again to start. The kids knew of Asra's magic, and roughly where he was, and could've even continued talking about both Muriel and Asra to Lucio for unknown amounts of time.
So now Lucio knows that the kid of his two powerful practitioners of magic is not only still around, but taking after them as well.
If Muriel's intimidating size and physical power are what drew Lucio to him, why wouldn't Asra's considerable metaphysical power and talents draw Lucio in as well?
We know how much Lucio loves power, and that he has an interest in magic because of it, as mentioned in the main story. (no ss sorry... If you have one send so I can add. )
Plus, homeless kid in a vulnerable spot. Easy pickings.
That's what I think this whole thing was about, really. It's all power. Though Asra likely didn't have the full scope of power he does in the current game, he was probably still considerably talented, and was only getting better.
What Lucio specifically probably wanted from Asra then was either to be taught how to use that power, to use Asra for things that required it, and/or use his power for entertainment akin to how he used Muriel.
I think out of these however, using him for his power was most likely. Why? (And teaching him now, more on that further down)
Tumblr media
(Sorry for bad quality lmao it's a small image. Also thanks to @8-bit-space for showing these to me like months ago. As you can see I can't stop thinking abt it)
These are screenshots from the old prologue. While they're not canon any more, there's reason to believe they still hold merit as to how Lucio feels about Asra.
Two things to me are major here. First is the "powerful potent magic," and how it's the "real deal," equating to a large part of how he views Asra yet again tying back to a heavy interest in his power. Now, you could argue this relates to using his powers in the palace during the plague, but the second point stands out even more to me.
"The one who broke him for me?"
What this implies to me is that Lucio could never quite get all the way through to Asra or control him when he was younger, and he's been dying to do so. He wanted Asra broken, presumably so that he'll become essentially a tool for him to use for his skill and not put up a fight- something Asra likely did as a child.
Because it seems that Lucio for the most part relied on control through fear when it came to Asra, threatening to hurt Muriel, lying to him about how he executed his parents, likely other things as well. But things seem to point to that never quite working like he had hoped.
Tumblr media
This could allude to this as well. Though "impossible" is something Asra's been called a few times, namely also by Julian, there's no reason to assume Lucio wasn't also including his work with him as a kid in "always". Impossible to hate could be his draw to Asra for his power, his talent, his skills, the prospect of which I'm sure Lucio found practically mouthwatering. Impossible to love could be his stubbornness or reluctance to do what Lucio wants, always pushing against him or being hard to deal with, both as a kid and during the plague.
Tumblr media
And lines like this, where he calls him a coward. I find it hard to relate this to the plague ritual as he was for the most part willingly helping with that, so it could be resenment for when Asra eventually ran off as a kid, unwilling to put up with him any longer, or his reluctance to do certain things for him then in general.
We know, and it has even been mentioned by a character within the canon, that Asra can be incredibly stubborn, to back that up. Plus, he could've been even harder to work with then both being a kid and as I mentioned earlier he has changed from how he was then, so he could've had more spunk to him or such.
This also easily means that what Lucio was trying to get Asra to do then was something Asra was quite obviously opposed to. Being used for his power is already degrading enough, but there could be more to it.
You'll notice in the post that was linked at the top (the reason I'm writing this) I mentioned pushing Asra to his physical limits and magical extremes. This could be one of the reasons for a push back.
If Lucio was having Asra do things for him involving magic, it's not out of pocket to assume he'd practically run him into the ground- I'm sure he really wouldve loved testing the limits of what Asra could REALLY do.
Wether it be huge expendure of power all at once, or tons of smaller things one after the other, it would absolutely take it's toll. We are shown a few times that using magic can exhaust someone, and I don't remember if this is shown in canon ever (tell me if so!) but pushing it even further could definitely lead to other things such as passing out, (Or nosebleeds, for the aesthetic,) alongside likely being incredibly painful and draining, both mentally and physically.
Basically, abusing his powers and the body that commanded them. It's also possible that the stubborness to work with Lucio could also be partially percieved because of this- Lucio taking Asra's literal physical inability to continue as defiance.
Another reason for push back from Asra would be making him do morally compromising things. This is a little more vague, but intimidation is a common headcanon I see for what Lucio made Asra do, and that could tie in here. Other things could be meddling in things and business he shouldn't, but again, it's a vague thing. Make of it what you will. Fucked up stuff all around.
[EDIT - TEACHING LUCIO]
Tumblr media
(THANK YOU @tea-tye for showing me these, and credits to @hangedman-magician for the video they came from!!!!!!!)
...I cannot BELIEVE I forgot this, I KNEW I was missing something. Especially when I was fairly certain I remember Lucio being obsessed with the idea of magic. SO, MOVING ON,
There's not terribly much to pick apart here as it's rather direct- Asra saying he has in fact tried to teach Lucio magic. So in my eyes this solidifies that this was a component of Asra's time under Lucio. I still think my points about Lucio treatment (pushing Asra to his limits) stand, as well.
This can also tie in the stubborness mentioned as, well, can you imagine teaching Lucio? Asra backs this up by saying nothing he has ever said stuck with Lucio, and you know how Lucio gets when things don't go his way. He would've blamed his inability to learn on Asra, likely.
Looking to other quotes mentioned: the 'broke him' line still rings to me like he was trying to use Asra in other ways, and the 'coward' line could go either way from refusing to teach Lucio certain things, or refusing to do certain things for Lucio when he was merely being used. The "impossible" line could also go for others, as trying to teach someone like Lucio would've undoubtedly caused some head butting.
This is certainly really exciting and interesting to me as it gives a more complete picture on the exact situation at hand here. I still stay by my reasoning for Lucio simply using Asra as well on top of being taught because it seems highly likely that Lucio would've been too impatient to learn to do certain things himself, and like I said as well, I don't doubt he also just wanted to see what Asra was REALLY capable of. Something he could've saw as a tantalizing insight into the kind of power he could aquire of this kid would just... work with him.
NOW we have a MUCH clearer answer as to what exactly Asra was likely doing under Lucio, or at this point, almost certainly doing. It's a sad picture for Asra of course, but with this you can draw some interesting points as to how he could've been affected by this, as I'm sure it would've left some kind of imprint on him.
Sure it may not have been as traumatic as what Muriel went through, but when you look at it, it's hard to say it DIDN'T leave it's scars. If we consider all the points presented in this post truth we have:
A 12/13 yo homeless child, threatened with his friend's life to work for the Count that he knew was the one responsible for orphaning him and making him homeless in the first place.
Said child believing his parents are still alive, and as we see in Travel at Night, could very likely still be trying to find them. In a situation like Asra's that glimmer of hope probably was a big deal in helping him push on. This may also be a reason he agreed on top of Muriel's safety.
While working under the count, he is told that his parents were executed, no doubt devastating. The manner in which this was mentioned is up for debate, and could affect exactly how it was taken. Options could be Lucio joking or bragging about it (treating it as trivial or an accomplishment), or using it to threaten Asra, (as in I killed your parents, I'll kill you too,) both would work when it comes to controlling by fear.
It is also mentioned that Lucio told him the reason for his parents execution is that they messed up his gold arm, so Asra also has the knowledge that his parents were killed over something so unbelievably trivial.
Being used as a source of power and nothing else, both for teaching and pure work/entertainment, all for the man who killed his parents, day after day.
Being pushed to physically painful and mentally draining limits, expending so much energy that he completely exhausts himself, day after day.
Likely taking all sorts of verbal abuse from Lucio, day after day.
Like mentioned earlier, it seems clear that Lucio wanted to break Asra, so some other form of trying to chip away at his psyche to make him more convenient for Lucio is likely as well.
Those points alone, to yet again a CHILD no less, seem more than enough to cause some traumatic impact, and depending on certain specifics of what exactly went on during that time, it could be worse. I may make a post looking into the long lasting effects of this on Asra, I may not. It would mostly be headcanon regardless. If you want to add your hc relating to this situation though, I'll gladly reblog it!
And now that we are closing out, it's time to revise my summary. So, without further ado, THIS is what I think was going on during this time.
Lucio knows of Asras existence and parentage.
Lucio learns Asra is around and that he's got power.
Lucio LOVES power, so he threatens Asra into working for him.
Lucio uses Asra for his power and to be taught how to use it for himself.
While using Asra for his knowledge and power, runs him into the ground by pushing his limits to physical and magical degrees, possibly even moral.
Asra pushes back against a lot of this, or is at least percieved to, frustrating Lucio.
Lucio does what he can to try and control Asra even more, primarily via fear, but can't seem to crack him.
Eventually it's too much, and Asra leaves. Likely when the plague hit like Muriel, but it's possible it could've been somewhat sooner. Lucio is PISSED, because he wanted that magical power all to himself.
Less related, I can see Lucio trying to brush it off and pretending to be fine with it, excuse being "he was too difficult to work with, anyways," or something.
...And then... years later, as far as Lucio sees it, Asra comes crawling back- and he's tamed down to a degree! He's actually working with him. Lucio might not know what or who did it, but Asra is finally broke for him, and I'm sure he was absolutely ecstatic to have that power back in his hands- and more than ever before.
Think of all of this as you would like!
At the end this is all still speculative, so definitely feel free to make your own points or say if you feel any different abt anything- expansions or counters on this theory/headcanon welcome!
And if you also have any other screenshots or info not here that could add to the theory or change the outlook of certain things definitely add them!!! I feel like I'm missing stuff for sure, and my memory has probably muddled some things (hopefully I didn't get anything wrong, though.)
And @asrascherry thanks for the offer in helping word my hcs also! I forgot to say that. This one is just so long I wouldve felt bad bringing it all to you 😔 it's probably still messy as a result but I tried lmao (worried it's repetitive or unclear 😬)
Uh yeah! That's mostly it for NOW.
+All the love to Asra for going through so much I'm so sorry bb,,
Thanks for reading!

Loki in the Hall of Mirrors
This story is complicated. Not, like, as a plot, not particularly, but philosophically and thematically. It's got that great play of hero against villain that I love about the Loki story in general and that makes it all so divisive and messy. And I love it even more than I did on first watch.
The first time I watched the desert landing scene, I was like, "Wait? What happened to Allspeak?" because the people who live there don't seem to understand him. But on the second watch, I realized it could be a lack of context, rather than a break in translation. These people probably have an even chance of knowing nothing about Norse myth. Like, what if an alien came up to you and said "I am Boogle of Bofgar, I carry a burden"? You would still have questions like "What the hell is a boogle and why are you carrying your shit here?" So the basic dynamic of Allspeak is probably still functioning, and Loki probably understood their questions, but he was still trying to figure out how to answer when he got distracted by the TVA people.
It could even be an innate psychic ability rather than a magical one, as he seems to understand everyone in the TVA, including the man who can't be fluent in all languages like the field agents because he has never heard of a fish and the seemingly nonverbal robot. (Which of course makes me want Loki talking with Dum-E and the other shop bots! But I digress.)
Okay. I want to start talking about the next-level manipulation shit the TVA are pulling on Loki here. Time, as they say, moves differently in the TVA, and one might even assume that they can avoid having to deal with more variants at once than they can handle. And yet we see them dealing with exactly two other troublemakers during Loki's onboarding.
The first, I'm going to call little echo man.
Little echo man is incredibly annoying to Loki, because he does and says everything Loki might find himself inclined to do and say if he wanted to be difficult. Little echo man does these things in little annoying undignified ways, making them look silly and petulant. Little echo man protests and questions and pushes back, in his business suit and his long dark hair and pale skin, and clearly thinks everyone should treat him as important even though every indication is that he is an annoyance and an afterthought.
Perhaps he's a plant, and perhaps he's just a variant of an annoying but predictable regular they see who they lined up at the same time on purpose. But he is on purpose. Everything he does screams directly at Loki, "Don't do this."
We'll get to the second convenient intersection later.
The most obvious layer of manipulation is simply the beraucracy. They put him up against a series of obstacles which he needs to deal with to get anywhere else, and nothing he does can get him past those obstacles except compliance. All of these obstacles have personality, but they are not personable. They treat Loki like a bag of trash they have been tasked with taking to the curb. Annoying, distasteful, but ultimately routine. His silver tongue isn't going to get him anywhere because these people simply don't care.
I think a lot of these he just goes along with to see where it gets him, since at this point he still believes he has his magic in reserve. But the fact that he steps through the robot fryer even though he thinks he might be a robot without knowing (as others have pointed out, he spent thousands of years as a frost giant without knowing it, and he's recently spent time in the control of the being who shaped Nebula) is a testament to how deep they've already got their hooks in him.
They treat the robot fryer like it's routine, but come the next obstacle, they kill little echo man like it's routine, too. Because he didn't comply.
Loki is slowly being ironed flat to thread into their compliance mill.
And then - I love this, because it reminds me of one of my favorites among the multiplicity of Lokis, GoS!Loki - they put this line in as punctuation between the impersonal, compliance, don't phase of their manipulation and everything that comes after it.
When he's set before the judge, someone actually paying some attention to him, this is his chance to use his silver tongue on someone who will listen. But, although the judge listens, she treats him the same as all the other obstacles have - like listening is a distasteful chore she would like to be done with.
So it seems like the perfect moment for a dramatic escape. Except his magic is gone.
"It's not your story," the judge says. "It never was."
That hammers in all the worst things Loki has ever believed about himself - that he stands in the shadows of others, that he will never have the central place he was raised to desire, that he is, and always will be, a villain to be vanquished rather than a person with choices and agency.
Enter Mobius.
Mobius is a big echo.
He draws all the attention in a room. He is everything that Loki wishes to be - he is powerful, informed, prepared, in control. Capable of charming the judge. And most importantly, he is actively interested in Loki.
At this point in Loki's journey - both in the show and in his life - that has to be irresistible.
So Mobius is in a perfect position to wrap Loki right around his pinky finger.
He listens to Loki without shutting him down, the way all the obstacles have. When Loki tells Mobius he's going to burn down the TVA, Mobius suggests a couple of places he might want to start. One concrete, small, mischievous. One an indication that he's open to Loki doing larger, more significant things here in the future.
He shows Loki his own past and future - but carefully edited, to paint a particular picture.
So many echoes, so many reflections - Loki is in a house of mirrors. Lost, disoriented. Distorted one way, then the other. Magnified and examined.
Tumblr media
Loki snarks, and Mobius comments, "Makes you sound smart." Affirms Loki for that little mischievous bit of personality.
Mobius shows Loki some of the most terrible things he's done, and questions them. Pushes Loki away from them. Then changes direction before he can get too heavy-handed, to basically fangirl over the DB Cooper adventure. That's mischief. That's good. I like that.
Punishes him for a small infraction, just to remind him who is in control and that even looking threatening could be seen as a problem.
I think it was at about this point that I got hard reminded of the dynamics of the show White Collar. It's a buddy cop show on a basic level and sometimes the relationship can be very sweet, but sometimes Peter spends one too many times reminding Neal that he can send him back to prison any time he wants and the power dynamic shows its messed up edges.
Mobius is part of the machine, and the machine is doing terrible things to Loki, but I have at least a sliver of hope that the relationship could gain more balance - more genuine balance, not based on the faux freedom that Loki has gained by the end of the episode. There's something to be said for making changes to a system from within that system, but for that to be meaningful change, Mobius would have to change as a person.
Anyway, this current nastily powerful Mobius pushes Loki as hard as he can, and then is conveniently interrupted by the actions of another variant, leaving Loki alone with his remote.
It could easily have been on purpose. The only thing Loki learns by escaping that room is that the TVA is more powerful than any force in the universe, in his experience.
Let's talk about the other Loki variant for a minute. It took me until the second viewing to realize the symbolism of leaving a small child the only survivor in a place of worship, then giving her something to turn her blue.
Odin said he found Loki in a temple, in the aftermath of a battle.
It's actually frighteningly easy to imagine how a distraught Loki could get to a place where he feels the need to genuinely burn down the TVA, and kill every agent in it. Because the TVA put certain clips in his little future show, focusing on the death of his mother, the way his own actions affected it, and the futility and brutality of his own death at the hands of Thanos.
They don't show him the destruction of Asgard, his own role in helping save the evacuees, and the way Thanos decimated the population of that transport before it could even reach Earth. They don't show him the devastation of his home or his capacity to do good.
A Loki who knows that the power of the TVA exists and that he has the capacity to be Asgard's heroic savior would do anything to get that power and save his people.
But we haven't met that Loki yet. I'm sure we will, and it's going to be exhilarating.
Tumblr media
This Loki is being taught the importance of control over little things, and so when he gets his collar off and onto that guard, he toys with her, just to see that he can. They have been toying with him and it's oh so satisfying to turn the tables. But it's still compliance in its own way, the petty little mischief that Mobius has been steering him towards.
Loki has been given just enough freedom, just enough choices, that it seems like his own choice to watch the rest of the slide show and come to the obvious conclusion - there's no "out" to go to. His life has gone on without him, and ended. And there's really no point in his trying to fix it. No putting things back the way they were.
So he admits to Mobius - the person who has listened hardest, probably, besides his mother - he admits that he is small and scared and lashing out. That he doesn't know what to do.
Of course, this is when Mobius introduces the task the TVA has for Loki - to take down his other self.
Oh, I can't wait for the next episode! I want to know where this is going.
Tumblr media
(I've popped in some panels from Loki: Agent of Asgard because it's my favorite and the show is giving me feelings about it.)

Rule The World With Me-
Ivar the Boneless × Reader
Story Summary: Ivar travel's to Kiev to escape his brothers, where he meets you and hopes that you will be his queen.
Chapter Thirteen: Valhalla Awaits
Chapter Summary: you learn Bjorn's fate and find out other incredible news!
Word Count 2,239
Warnings: Angst, gore and fluff
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In the morning, you woke up and Ivar was not by your side. You immediately panicked. Did Bjorn get out somehow and hurt Ivar? Did Ivar leave and not tell you? Where is he? Is he okay? You hurry out of bed and throw on the dress that was the closest to you and ran out of your chambers. You walk around the house, no sign of him. You see Igor eating in the dining hall.
"Igor! Where is Ivar?"
Igor "I haven't seen him all morning." That made you sick to your stomach. You woke up very nauseous this morning and didn't know why, but this is making it worse. You grab some fur and run out of the door. As soon as you walk outside, you spot Ivar immediately. He is simply talking to your warriors and shield maiden's, probably about today's task. You take a big deep breath and try to calm down. You were so worried that you might have lost him, that seeing him just made you almost faint from relief. You go back inside and sit down next to Igor.
Igor "Where is he? Did you find him?"
"Yes, he is talking to the warriors, he's okay."
Igor "are you okay? You don't look very well."
"Just a little nauseous Igor, I'll be fine." You didn't know why you were so nauseous but you decided to go to the medical before we learn Bjorn's fate, just to make sure that you are okay. And you are way more than fine. You are pregnant. You are pregnant with Ivar's child. You feel so blessed, grateful and lucky to be carrying his child. You can't wait to tell him the great news, but sadly it will have to wait. You walk out with the biggest smile on your face, capturing Igor's attention.
Igor "you look happy! What's the good news?"
"I'm pregnant." He ran to you and gave you the warmest embrace. This explains all the mood swings that you have been having this week.
Igor "this is great news! Is Ivar the father?"
"Of course, dear boy! I will tell him later on this evening. He will be so pleased."
….
Your maiden's are braiding your long, red hair as you put on your arm armor. You know that Bjorn wouldn't be able to hurt you, but you can never be too safe. Especially now that you are carrying a baby.
Maiden "congratulations my queen. You will be a wonderful mother." You thank her and ask her to bring in Ivar. Soon after, Ivar comes into the door. His eyes lock to your body.
Ivar "oh, my queen...I have never seen you in armor before. You are more beautiful than anyone I have ever seen." You walk over to him with a big smile on your face. "What is it my love?"
"Oh nothing, I just have some incredible news." You have moved your arms so that they are linked around his neck, and his arm is around your waist.
Ivar "oh yeah? What is this great news..huh?"
"Nope..you gotta wait till Bjorn's fate is decided." He rolls his eyes and sighs.
Ivar "you already know his fate my love, just tell me."
"You really can't wait?"
Ivar "no..please tell me. I want to hear some good news." You place a quick kiss to his lips and then pull back to look into his eyes.
"I am with child." His eyes immediately start to fill up with tears and his lips start to quiver.
Ivar "with...mine?"
Tumblr media
"With your child Ivar. You are going to be a father." He drops his crutch and picks you up in his arms, which you immediately wrap your legs around him. You can feel wet tears hit your cheek. You are crying as well. This news is the best news that we could ever get right now.
Ivar "I can't believe it! I'm going to be a father!!" He is saying it at the top of his lungs, making you laugh through the happy tears.
"Yes Ivar, you are going to be a father. And I am going to be a mother!" He places you down and cups your cheeks in his hands and kisses you.
Ivar "after Bjorn is dead, we shall have a ceremony! We will be married and soon, we will have this beautiful child in this world with us, yes?"
"Yes!" He kisses you one more time and then walks out the door to let you finish getting ready. His reaction was everything you hoped for. The gods have really blessed you and Ivar. Imagine how Ivar feels! A cripple being able to impregnate his woman...what a miracle! And a miracle it is! You look at yourself one more time in the mirror and one time at your belly. You rub small circles around your lower belly and whisper, 'I love you my little one, I can't wait to meet you.'
____________________________________
Ivar joins you hand in hand as you two walk down to the courtyard. There is a large platform where executions, hangings, and sacrifices are performed. Bjorn is barely standing up in front of you people. You notice that his right eye is missing. You laugh and look at Ivar.
"You did that didn't you?"
Ivar "you heard what he called you, of course I did that. No one threatens my soon to be wife and mother of my child." He kisses your head and you two get in front of your people.
Ivar "People of Kiev, before you is Bjorn Ironside, my brother! Before you good people decide his fate, let me tell you who the REAL Bjorn Ironside is! He.." he points to Bjorn, "Threatened the life of your queen! He called her unfathomable things! And if that is not bad enough, he is ruining my father's image! He is not the king that you all think he is! He calls me ruthless, evil!! But the truth is, he is describing himself! He never fulfills his promises to his people! He-"
Bjorn "HE IS LYING!"
Ivar "SHUT YOUR MOUTH!"
"Your future king is right! Bjorn is the lyer! I promise you, that if you don't make the right choice, he will come back here and destroy us all!"
Ivar "I will give you time to think. Please, do the right thing." He looks over at you and smiles. You grab his hand and look back down at your people.
"I hope they do the right thing. I fear that if he lives, he will come back here and kill us all-"
Ivar "I will NOT LET THAT HAPPEN! You are the most important thing to me, I will not let him touch you, or our baby." Bjorn heard that..
Bjorn "baby? How is that possible?"
Ivar "I am going to be a father brother."
"That's right, I am carrying his child."
Bjorn "ohh you really are a whore aren't you? There is no way that my brother can impregnate a woman!" He laughs and spits out blood. Ivar walks over to him and grabs him by the throat.
Ivar "I...will make certain...that you will not live another day. Are you ready for Valhalla brother?"
Bjorn "I am always ready for Valhalla...a place where you will never go." Ivar let's go of his throat and crutches his way back over to you.
Ivar "People of Kiev, what is Bjorn Ironside's fate?!"
"We have decided...hang him where he stands!!" Ivar looks at you and smiles, then looks at the guard. The guard places the rope around his neck and waits for his orders.
Ivar "NOW!!!" and in that second, Bjorn is dangling at the end of the rope. However, the rope snaps! You panic and look at Ivar. Ivar grabs your hand and looks at you.
Ivar "stay by your shield maiden's, I love you." You couldn't respond quick enough before Ivar walked off. He had to make sure that Bjorn dies this day, even if he has to kill him himself. The shield maiden's pull you into a shield-wall.
"SHIELD-WALL!!" you couldn't see Ivar anymore, all you could here is the ruffling of swords and footsteps on the fresh snow. Did Bjorn have a weapon? You didn't know.
Ivar "I WARNED YOU BROTHER!! YOU WILL DIE THIS DAY!"
Bjorn "You are wrong." Warriors have grabbed Bjorn and has him by the arms. Ivar walks up to him and draws his sword.
Ivar "I wish you didn't make me do this brother, but you leave me no choice."
Bjorn "you do have a choice...you just decided wrong. Like you always have, dear brother. You think you are always right, that you are a God...but really, you are nothing but a cripple, angry bast-" Ivar plunges his sword into Bjorn's chest before he could finish. He watches the life leave his brothers eyes. He didn't cry, he didn't feel remorse, he felt nothing. He pulled his sword out and watched his brother's lifeless body fall to the ground. Fresh blood dripped off of Ivar's sword and onto the cold snow. And in that moment, you hear your people scream in victory.

You push your way through the shield-wall and rush towards the noise. Ivar looks up at you and you fall to your knees. He makes his way over to you as fast as he could and pulls you into his arms.
Ivar "my love! What happened!?"
"I-I don't know...I just got lightheaded I'll be fine. Is he gone?"
Ivar "yes my love...he is gone!"
"Then can we get married now?" He leans down to kiss you, giggling in your lips.
Ivar "yes my love, we can finally get married. But we have to invite Hvitserk and Ubbe!"
"Yes! Oh and we can tell Hvitserk you're going to be a father!"
Ivar "yes, it will be a very good day. A very celebratory day, filled with good company, a nice feast, and just pure love. How does that sound, my queen?"
"It sounds much better than laying in the cold snow right about now!" He laughs and helps you off the ground.
One of your shield maiden's "My queen, what happened?! You just...fell to the ground!"
"I'm fine, just got too worked up that's all. I thought something happened.."
Ivar "I am going to take your queen to her room now, she needs some rest." He starts to walk you to your chambers when Igor stops you.
Igor "Is Bjorn dead?!"
Ivar "yes, Igor..he is dead."
Igor "why are you carrying y/n? Are you okay?"
"I am fine, don't you worry about me so much! I am a strong woman, I can handle a lot of things, dear boy."
Ivar "your queen is right! She just got a little scared and got lightheaded…so Y/n and I will be in bed for a few hours if you need us, yes?"
Igor "yes, of course. Get some rest my queen...don't want you stressed out with that baby now do we?"
"We definitely don't!"
…..
Ivar "let me help you get this armor off of you." He starts with your wrist pieces, then your chest and back pieces. It feels good not to have all of that weight on your body anymore. Maybe that is why you kind of fainted…
"You are too good to me."
Ivar "no...I am only treating you the way that you should always be treated, my sweet. I love you more than I could ever tell you. I will always treat you with kindness and tenderness."
"And our baby?"
Ivar "oh...I am going to spoil our baby! Son or daughter, it's going to get spoiled." You laugh and lean into him. He truly is the love of your life. He moves to your hair now, undoing your braids. His fingers through your hair is one of the best feelings. He is so soft, making sure not to tug too hard.
Ivar "okay you're all done, let's get into bed huh?" You nod and make your way into bed. You haven't even had dinner yet and you are so drained. All you wanted was to be in Ivar's arms for the rest of the day. Ivar finally gets into bed with you after taking off all of his armor. Pulls you into his arms and tugs the furs on top of both of you.
"I hope our child has your eyes Ivar."
Ivar "oh my love, I hope he or she has your warm, beautiful smile. And your beautiful hair. So bright like a beautiful rose."
"He or she is going to be so strong like you are."
Ivar "Well I hope that our child walks….not crawls."
"Regardless, I am going to love him or her just as much as I love you. Because you are perfect to me Ivar." He kisses you and you can feel him melt into your touch.
Ivar "We will send out letters to Kattegat tomorrow. I definitely want Hvitserk to be here for our ceremony."
"Yes, as do I." You two end up spending the rest of the evening in bed, talking about baby names and all of your plans for your child. But also about your wedding. All of these events are making your heart so full with love and happiness.

Rowing the Rarepair Rowboat: Joe West x Martin Stein (The Flash)
Requested by @light-miracles
Hearing the name was the first thing that tipped Joe off. When Barry said it while talking about Firestorm, he thought surely not.
Surely it's a different Martin Stein, somehow. He can't quite tell if he was hoping he was right or not, but he convinced himself he was, that it's all just a big coincidence.
But here he is, and there's Martin. Standing across from him in the Cortex of S.T.A.R. Labs. Despite it being well over a decade or so, he knows immediately that it's him.
Martin shifts slightly, eyes down, focused on nothing particularly interesting as the team talks away, unaware that neither of them are in their little bubble.
He saw him, Joe knows. They looked right at each other the second he walked into the room. He watched Martin's eyes widen behind those same glasses, the look of utter bewilderment on his face. And in came Barry and Iris and the rest of the team, going straight into introductions and figuring out a game plan.
Joe thinks it's a good thing; it gives him time to wrap his head around this properly, think through what to say when he gets the chance. But no matter what runs through his mind, nothing feels right. Nothing eases the twisting, churning mixture of feelings he's got going on inside of him right now.
"Joe?" Barry asks at last, snapping him out of his daze, dragging his eyes over to meet his slightly concerned gaze. "Does that sound okay?"
In all truth, Joe has no idea what the hell Barry just said. His eyes dart off to the left.
"Uh, what? Sorry, didn't catch that last part."
Martin's eyes flick to him for the second time since he walked in.
"I asked if you could stay here with Stein, make sure everything's okay here while we head out to catch the Meta," Barry repeats gently, and Joe's aware that he's gonna get a few questions about this later.
For now, he nods. "Yeah, yeah, of course. Just be back soon, alright? There's only so long I can stay away before Singh comes back to revoke captain from me."
Barry laughs at that. He promises, and he, Cisco, and Ralph head out while Caitlin and Iris relocate to the lab in the back of the room to go over what they have so far on one of their other cases.
Leaving just him and Martin. Alone again.
Martin clears his throat and Joe lifts an eyebrow an inch, watching him, waiting with this annoying little flutter in his chest.
"So..." Martin starts uncertaintly, but he's looking at him, right in his eyes. "It's been quite a long time, hasn't it?"
Joe makes a quiet noise at that, half a snort, half a chuckle. "I guess forty-six years is a long time, yeah, you could say that."
Martin falters, as if he thought maybe he wouldn't remember. Or at least wouldn't know how long in exact numbers.
He draws in a deep breath, then nods.
"Things have certainly..." he lifts a hand to gesture at him, letting it fall back to his side a second later, "...changed. I hear you're a detective now."
"Well, I was majoring in law when we met, that shouldn't be all that surprising," Joe points out.
Martin smiles. It almost feels forced. Sad.
"It's not. I'm happy for you," he says, sincere. "And rather proud. Working part-time out of a lab? I thought you once said that science just 'wasn't your thing'."
"Oh, it's still not." Joe shakes his head, making a face as he glances around. "I'm just here to help out with the arrests and legal side of things, and because of Iris."
He stops after he says it. It hadn't really processed in his mind before it left his mouth. Martin's still wearing that smile, nodding now. He's got that look in his eyes; he always used to get it before, when he was trying to hide something.
"Yes. Iris. Your daughter. She's rather lovely. And a lot like you, from what I've seen."
"Well..." Joe shrugs. "I did raise her alone from the age of eleven. Guess some things just sort of stuck."
There's a flicker of surprise in Martin's expression. He doesn't comment on it, doesn't ask. Joe's admittedly a little relieved. Telling him about Francine just isn't a conversation they need to be having right now.
"I imagine you're incredibly proud of her," Martin says. "You should be. She's been nothing but kind to me since I got here. Very intelligent. Would make an excellent detective as well."
"Yeah, that's what she said when she wanted to sign up. I talked her out of it."
Martin nods, as if that makes complete sense to him. There's a glint in his eyes.
"You did say you'd never let your child go through the same tedious process as you did," he says. "It's good to see not everything is different now."
Joe hums in the back of his throat. He swallows and waves a hand vaguely at him.
"And--hey, I heard you have a kid, too. A daughter? Caitlin talks a lot about her. They went to some college together, I think?"
Martin nods again, though looks a little thrown. "Yes. They did. Lily is rather fond of her."
"And... her mother sounds lovely."
Caitlin's mentioned her a couple times as well from what he can remember of the snippets of casual conversation. Just little things about going with Lily for family dinners.
The comment definitely catches Martin by surprise. Joe doesn't really know what he's expecting, but he hates that a little part of him is waiting with so much anticipation and dread, already regretting saying it at all.
"Yes," Martin says again, then shakes his head, clearing his throat. "Yes, she is rather extraordinary. A brilliant mother, too."
That same part of Joe sinks. It's just a little stab in his chest, nothing too painful, but still enough.
He presses his lips into what he can muster of a smile. "That's good. I'm happy for the two of you."
Something seems to register. Martin rubs at his jaw with his left hand. It's an old habit, a nervous tick he used to have and apparently still does, and that's why it takes Joe a moment to notice the lack of a ring.
His eyes widen a touch in realization before Martin even speaks. He wasn't going to say anything about it himself; like he said, things have changed since they knew each other. For all he knew, feelings and a whole lot more could have as well.
"Clarissa and I are no longer together," Martin tells him. He pauses, lifts his eyes to meet his. "We divorced a few years back. After I told her the truth."
The truth. "Oh," Joe says slowly.
"It was for the best," Martin says, shrugging. "I loved her more than anything, but..."
"But you weren't being honest with yourself," Joe fills in the blanks.
Martin stares at him. "Precisely."
They both know, the unspoken thing between them, desperately calling out for one of them to just acknowledge it.
Rehearsing possible lines in his head hasn't done him any good. It's like there's this giant elephant just sitting in the corner of the room and they're both supposed to pretend it's not there. But Joe's never really been all that great at ignoring things.
"I feel like I should be apologizing," he says, chuckling nervously.
Martin's brow furrows. "For what?"
Joe tilts his head and softens his voice. "You know what. All of it. I just..." He sighs, shaking his head now, trying to find the right words to explain.
"You weren't the one who ended things between us, Joe," Martin says quietly. "If anything, I should be the sorry one."
"No, I shouldn't have pushed you like I did," he says. "I got too caught up in it all. I thought that everything would magically be perfect after college."
"You can't blame yourself for liking the idea of a perfect world or wanting to get a little lost in a romance."
Joe just shakes his head again, pressing his lips together, a knot pulling tight in his stomach.
"I was the one who pushed you away, remember?" Martin points out, stepping closer. His hands are moving as he talks, palms up, like he always used to do. "I shouldn't have, I know that now, but I got scared."
"Of course you were scared," Joe scoffs, gesturing around them. "The world was terrifying back then--still is! Our entire relationship was against the law and every second day there was some news story about people like us dying."
Even just remembering it makes him sick to his stomach. The fear that was instilled in him. In Martin. They always tried to push it away, focus on the good between them. But it was harder, and the secrecy didn't help.
Martin stops in front of him. The look on his face is so familiar, it reminds him that not everything has changed. The way he's looking at him. A small comfort settles in his chest.
"That's why I had thought that what I was doing for the best. Ending things for both our sakes before it even really started. But--"
Martin shakes his head, his mouth stretching up into that smile. His shoulder sink and he sighs.
"I still regret it," he says. "To this very day. I thought that that day was the last I would ever see you, and I've spent forty-six years since wishing it had gone differently. I never wanted to lose you from my life."
Joe's biting his cheek so hard he worries it might bleed. He breathes slowly, his eyes stinging, and he blinks, glancing away from him.
"Yeah, that was the part I hated the most," he says, his voice tight and straining to his own ears. The pain is finally sinking back in after being ignored for all those years, and it's a lot heavier than he thought it would be.
"I really did love you, you know," Martin says softly.
Joe nods, biting harder. He meets his gaze again, and it's taking everything in him.
"I know," he tells him, sincere. He never doubted it, not really. "I loved you, too."
Neither of them knows what to say now. It's like they've torn the barely healed skin off of an old wound, ripping it open to bleed out all over again. The elephant is gone.
"Hey, dad?"
Joe's eyes widen and he quickly blinks, looking over at Caitlin's makeshift lab to see Iris peering out out of the doorway. It was easy to forget they were only separated by two panes of glass with no actual door.
"Yeah, baby?" he asks, hoping that she didn't notice.
"Would you be able to do a coffee run for us?" she asks, and smiles widely. "Please?"
Relief sinks in. She seems blissfully unaware of anything that just happened, her attention clearly caught up in the work.
He chuckles, and nods. "Yeah, sure. But, uh..."
He glances at Martin, uncertain. Martin smiles back at him and shrugs.
"I'll come with you. I doubt anyone's going to attack me in the middle of a coffee shop."
"I wouldn't be too sure about that, we've seen stranger," Joe says, and Iris agreez.
Martin's smile widens. "I'll have to take my chances then. Believe me, I need some fresh air, as lovely as this place is."
"Great!" Iris says. "Oh, and could you maybe throw in a croissant or something? Cait's hungry and threatened to eat me."
"Hey! You're the one who said that!"
Joe shakes his head at them, rolling his eyes. He gestures to the entrance and starts walking, Martin going with him.
"Be back soon!" Iris calls to them.
