Really hoping that Otto was indeed captured by House Beesbury at the Honeywine and not by the Caswells over at Bitterbridge. I know some people want him to be captured by the Caswells as a replacement for Maelor so that Daeron would still have a reason to burn the place to the ground, which is something that I do understand. However, an idea that I really agree with is that Otto being a prisoner of the Beesburys would give us a nice establishing moment for Daeron, where instead of being simply being a battle, Honeywine would also function as a rescue mission. Daeron flying Tessarion behind enemy lines to rescue his grandfather would be a good enough reason to give him his "daring" moniker in the show's universe.
Allowing Otto to be involved would also give non-book readers a familiar character to connect with while the show explores what is going on in the Reach. It's a setting that the show has yet to explore with characters that have yet to be introduced on screen. Non-book readers only found out about Daeron last season and only know about his personality from Gwayne, and very little has been said about Ormund. Meanwhile, Otto already has off-screen connections with both of them. Ormund is his nephew and depending on when Daeron was sent to ward in Oldtown, Otto would've likely been there because it had been within the ten years between 1x05 and 1x07. It would be similar to what they did in season 2 with Gwayne, the writers took a characters that we had yet to properly see on screen and paired him up with ones that we were already familiar with, ie Criston and Alicent. In my opinion, that was a pretty good idea, which is why I would like to see it again but this time have it be used with these three characters.
This could also present an interesting change to his eventual death in the show. In the book, Otto is killed when Rhaenyra and Co. take King's Landing, but in the show he's not there. I could see his death occurring in one of two ways. The first would be to have him take up Hobert Hightower's role within the deaths of Hugh and Ulf and Second Tumbleton. In the show they gave the name Hobert to Otto's elder brother who is simply called "Lord Hightower." So, instead of having two Hobert Hightowers, it would just make sense to give that role to Otto. The second would be Bitterbridge if the writers really are hellbent on having a version of that in the show. But, because of he would be reintroduction at the Battle of the Honeywine and not shortly before his death, the writers could use that to build up to it and the eventual sacking of the town. This could make it more impactful to the audience and the characters as time would have been spent giving Otto some character development and give emotional weight to the moment when Daeron decides to burn the town because of it.
Personally, I don't have a preference to either potential death I detailed above as I think either one of them could work in the show.

During Which Months Did Persona 1 And 2 Duology Take Place?
It’s well known among fans of the series that the later entries take place during an entire school year, however the same can’t be said about the earlier games. The only confirmed information about the time frame that P1 and P2 occur is the year, but dialogue present in these entries and the characters’ birthdays allow us to stipulate a more precise date of when they took place.
Before starting, it’s important to be aware of how the school year in Japan is divided (I’m not Japanese and all the information I got is from the internet. So if you are more familiar with the system, feel free to correct me or to just talk more about it): The academic year in Japan starts from April and ends in March, having summer vacation in August (normally going from July 20 to August 31) and winter vacation in the end of December to the beginning of January (normally going from December 26 to around January 6).
-Obs: All of the dates that I have just mentioned are related to 2023/2024. I wasn’t able to find anything about it in 1996 or 1999. So take them with a grain of salt.
Persona 1:
List of the main cast birthdays + their ages:
April 09, 1979 - Yukino - 17
June 04, 1979 - Maki - 17
July 11, 1979 - Mark - 17
August 18, 1979 - Reiji - 17
September 21, 1979 - Eriko - 17
October 02, 1979 - Nanjo - 17
December 24, 1979 (it's a complete nonsense) - Protagonist IN THE MANGA - 17
January 01, 1980 - Brown - 16
March 03, 1980 - Ayase - 16
Analyzing the age of the characters, it can be assumed that the game takes place at the end of 1996 since Nanjo is already 17 when it occurs. However, the birthday date of the protagonist in manga, generates some inconsistencies: if taking this date into consideration, the game would take place between December 24, 1996 and December 26, 1996 - since, after that, the winter vacation starts. It could be hypothetically possible for the game to only last two days, however, considering that there are two routes and that most people believe that P1 happened during a whole week, I’m ignoring this date. With this, we can conclude that:
Persona 1 Probable Time Period: Between October 02, 1996 and December 26, 1996
Persona 2 Duology:
List of the main cast birthdays + their ages:
April 09, 1979 - Yukino - 20
February 14, 1982 - Jun - 17
May 04, 1982 - Lisa - 17
June 13, 1967 - Baofu - 32
July 04, 1976 - Maya - 23
July 27, 1981 - Tatsuya - 18
September 21, 1979 - Eriko (P2:EP) - 20
October 02, 1979 - Nanjo (P2:EP) - 20
November 15, 1982 - Eikichi - 16
November 30, 1974 - Ulala - 24
December 30, 1973 - Katsuya - 25
-Obs: If you want to know why I only used July 27, 1981 as Tatsuya’s birthday while ignoring August 21, 1981 (present in the SMT Wiki) as a possible date, there’s this post explaining it.
Let’s begin with Innocent Sin. Besides the age of cast, there’s another variable that needs to be taken into account: when the Grand Cross happened. In real life, this event occurred on August 18 1999 and, while, in Eternal Punishment, many NPCs mentioned that the Grand Cross had passed during the summer, we can’t be sure if it happened during this specific date due to one small thing: rumors becoming true. It could be very plausible that the Grand Cross in IS took place in a different time because it was influenced by rumors, while, in EP, the actual Grand Cross occurred as normal. That being said, I’m using August 18 1999 as the day that this event happened (only because I can’t even think of another date) since I don’t believe that the creators would change it.
Well, we found out the period of when the game ended so finding when it began should not be that difficult, right?... Oh, is August 18 during the summer vacation in Japan? And are there characters attending class both during the beginning as well the end of the game? Well… things just got a little bit more complicated.
In front of this adversity, I have two prepositions. The first one depends on the assumption that the summer vacation in Japan used to happen during a different time frame in 1999 than the one we have now. With that, we can guess that the game starts around July 27, 1981 since Tatsuya would already be 18. On the other hand, the second one regards the vacation period of 1999 as the same one as the one of now. In this hypothesis, we can guess that the game began some time before July 20 as well that the Kasugayama School Festival happened on the last day of class. Personally, I’m putting the latter just because the former’s time frame is also included in it. With this, we can conclude that:
P2:IS Probable Time Period: Between July 12, 1999 and August 18, 1999
Finally, we can get into Eternal Punishment! After the many contradictions present in Innocent Sin’s time frame (Nyarly would be proud), discovering when EP takes place is going to be way easier and this is only possible due to the main cast’s birthdays along with their dialogue.
First of all, it’s been confirmed by the creator that EP occurred some months after the Grand Cross, more specifically, during the autumn 1999. With that, we can take a closer look into one dialogue said by Nanjo in Parabellum a bit before going into Mt. Iwato: “Ms. Amamo, he is still a minor. I do not feel it wise to bring him to this kind of establishment… NO, I’m not being tense!”. For those unaware, the drinking age in Japan is 20 years old. Based on that, Nanjo becoming tense could be interpreted as him being nervous since he’s just recently turned 20. With that, it’s possible to presume that the game takes place after Nanjo’s birthday.
Another series of dialogue to take into consideration are of Ulala’s. During the entirety of the game, she is always stressing out that she’s turning 25 soon which indicates that her birthday has still not passed. With this, we can conclude that:
P2:EP Probable Time Period: Between October 02, 1999 and November 30, 1999
And now, we can say that this analysis is finished! Remember that this is only a personal theory of mine, done only because I couldn’t find any posts exploring the subject. Feel free to discuss your own opinions on the matter and to correct any errors I’ve made.

What I like about Kamen Rider Faiz is how heavy it is with its main theme of dreams and how it connects to the central issue of idealism vs. realism. Episodes 7-8 (aka peak Faiz for me so far) in particular play into this connection a lot (they aren't titled "The Power of Dreams" and "The Protector of Dreams" for nothing) and man do I have a lot to say about it.
On one hand Keitaro and Mari have generally idealistic outlooks. Keitaro wants to help people in general both literally (through his job as a dry cleaner) and figuratively (through emotional supporting Takumi and Mari). Mari is willing to improve so she could achieve her dream of being a hairstylist (and she does get the job at the end!). They are both aware of how the harsh realities of life would hinder them from reaching their goals but are unwilling to let that happen by gradually overcoming these obstacles and making them a central part of their personal growth.
On the other hand Takumi is more realistic and thus more grounded and doubtful in his outlook on other people's aspirations and potential since he still doesn't have any dreams of his own. He is aware of how that one critical personal flaw potentially holds him back compared to everyone else around him. Despite that, Takumi (as shown with his speech from episode 8) is still willing to support and protect others' dreams anyway since he already knows how much people cherish and are willing to pursue their aspirations no matter what life throws at them, and this would come into play later on as he still has to figure out his own dreams later on in the show.
Basically Takumi would take Keitaro and Mari's idealism into account alongside his own realism since relying on one or the other wouldn't work, as realism would not work without idealism and vice versa. In other words, pursuing your dreams is a mix of both idealism and realism: wanting to achieve your goals as soon as possible with whatever it takes while also still taking the harsh realities of life into account but ultimately not letting them completely discourage your ability to progress onwards. Too much idealism and your expectations end up being too vague and difficult to reach but too much realism and you end up leaning into excessive pessimism and not having a reason to not even make progress for yourself at all.

Greetings, Anon! Thank you for your questions. I have to admit, even in the past, I refrained from posting reactions or speculations as BSD chapters release, but you already knew that, so I will indulge you. I'll answer each part of your ask. BSD ch113 thoughts below, manga spoilers ahead.
♠ "What was your raw reaction?" It was not a calm, quiet one, I can tell you that. No, in fact I screamed with excitement as if I was in a Roman amphitheatre and my favourite gladiator just got back up on his feet, out of sheer force of will, grinning and sweaty. My scream was the fastest way I could "verbalize" the fact that I was overjoyed to see him alive again, even if it's in the 15th century, and on top of that he seemed to be some kind of spy monk all chained up and having what seems to be a ridiculous amount of fun getting caught and discussing with Bram. This is all very in-character for him.
♠ "Was that something you expected?" Absolutely not. Yes, yes, I truly did not expect a jump back in time and this infobomb drop, despite the fact that we did get a few hints that Fedya seemed present at past events when all the other character really appeared younger than him (near the end of S4ep3, where on a rooftop Fedya says "It's not V, it's Five" and I am seriously like bruh I give up what I want to say is I need more data to work with, what am I supposed to do with this, rationally speaking?). However, we can't yet extract anything conclusive from this. Is he ageless? A time-traveler? Immortal? Does he revive? When was he born? Was he born at all or created differently somehow? Is he of BSD's world, or an external one (Beast liveaction finale anyone?)? Is this all within the Book and he's just… idk flipping the pages? Anything is possible and I refuse to spend a lot of time working with incomplete data. This is not very follower-friendly (as in, my blog is basically inactive in-between), I know and I apologize, but if after many chapters there will be something worthwile to add to my essay (with what Fukuchi said in ch113 I already have important stuff to add), under those circumstances I will consider writing an update. It's not yet time.
♠ "<Was that> something you felt different for the characterization we all made for Fyodor?" Hmm, I would hesitate to refer to a characterization "we all made" for him (I wish! T o T), because my analysis and blog are but a tiny tiny part of the fandom (I think…? I wonder about my Fedya essay's reach or influence sometimes). But let's say here we refer to one that comes close to what I tried to show in my essay. In that case, I would say that there is nothing to fear here in this chapter, but it's very understandable to have massive trust issues at this point. We went through a miserable, miserable time when the previous ones made the guy who visually memorized a full deck of used cards somehow not notice Chuuya wearing contacts and fake vampire teeth, despite knowing the vampire race since… well, the 15th century! I cannot even begin to describe what I felt reading ch111.5-112, I was beyond repulsed. Lovers of "villain" characters understand the following thing well: in most media, our fav has to lose, he has to die or disappear at some point, with rare exceptions. I, too, know this well, but that was no compelling way to solve BSD's villain threat. I still don't know how BSD will wash away that narrative stain, as I consider it, but then again one of the reasons we love this manga is that it keeps us on the edge of our seats and the most absurd yet fun turns can happen out of the blue. We can reasonably ask ourselves: ok, what is the purpose of showing Fedya's backstory now? If it's for build-up, we can already start grinning like Cheshire cats. What could possibly be next? I'm cautiously optimistic, things look in-character and good to me. Very good, in fact.
♠ "Or do you think it is later on going add some depth to his character?" Backstories are shown usually for a very clear purpose. We don't know the purpose yet, but if it's done well, then… then my whole essay could be at risk lmao (and I love this sensation). New info could add so much depth to his character, in fact, that his previously observed traits could gain new meanings, or even contradictory ones. Whichever it will be, I think it's pretty safe to bet on "his backstory will be very relevant".
♠ Bonus: even if I enjoy going "full analytical" and enter conference speech mode when asked, I am driven by strong emotions, by which I want to say – I am not immune to assassin/spy monk Fedya chained up like that and having the time of his life again. I missed seeing him entertained like that, and his current …………. visual representation in the.. uh. ..chapter, yeah, well, it's doing things to my Depeche Mode-worshipping heart.
Anyway, to conclude with some facts we know as of now:
a. Fedya and Bram are inside the Bran Castle, close to the Romanian city of Brașov, "deep in the Carpathians" although not built at high altitude itself. It's basically a fortress built between 1377-1388, with several later additions. The BSD representation of it is very accurate to how it looks today. It's near perfect, actually, I applaud.
b. Bram mentions King Matthias, and in this context that can only mean Matthias Corvinus, King of Hungary for 1458-1490. The meeting between Fedya and Bram thus happens some year during his reign, when Transylvania was still part of the Kingdom of Hungary. What is still strange to me is that I can't pinpoint Bram's exact position, as in… were his people independent? Or avoided? I feel like I need to re-read past Bram-related chapters to think about this.
c. Nevermind Bram, the things that Fukuchi says, those are the real goldmine here, but the gold is still… encrypted? I mean: Fedya made the DoA plan (more than confirmed now), and because Fukuchi asked for the condition to keep casualties under 500, Fedya respected that and we got entertained for like half of the whole BSD manga: using coin bombs for terror, for economic/political destabilization, using the vampire infection to avoid further violence, these things. The more you think about it, the more insane it gets. Since Fedya agreed to this condition, it means causing (more) deaths and violence were expendable things to him. (But imagine this: Fukuchi said "I want max. 500 deaths" and Fedya said "Yeah I can do that", now if Fukuchi would've said "I want max. 2 deaths" I really believe Fedya would've still said "Yeah I can do that". What can't he do, especially since murder for murder's sake isn't his goal?). This is in perfect harmony with his "necessary deaths only" approach so far, and much much more. There are far more implications in what Fukuchi said, which I won't type out here now. Gotta keep them and build around them for a future analysis update.
This was a rather long read, but still, I hope this satisfies your curiosities, Anon. *bows dramatically & disappears in a borderline insufferable ENTP way*
#Lav answers#I can't believe I wrote so much#yet still I will keep true to my principle of not over-speculating with insufficient data#a proper essay update would be much more valuable than making separate monthly posts even though in this way I can't contribute to the hype#or despair#or both#but fans of patient analysis will profit .. richly from this#someday!#sigh why is it I can talk about Fedya for hours#why can't I..... ugh.......#Iiiiiiii caaaaan't stooooop lovinggg youuuu#OTL................#man I've chosen the best manga character of all time frfr#also as of ch113 my Philosopher!Fedya fanfic is basically.................canon-friendly to the highest degree and I can't believe it#it happens in like the 1440-1450s and I dont even know how to feel about this reveal skjdfng

I'm so torn on the new Alkaloid MV/song for so many reasons but primarily I think my issue stems from the idea that it's trying to do two things at once and not really succeeding with either.
It needs to be Tatsumi's climax song. In this department, I think the song's sound is perfect this is exactly what I imagine a Tatsumi center would sound like. I've always thought that Tatsumi was a bit underrated as a singer and this song proves why his voice is great. It's also just flat out a fun song.
In additon to being Tatsumi's climax song, however Undying Holy Love also has to be a Halloween song and here's where it fumbles a bit. I think it's fine that it doesn't sound exactly like a Halloween song, my problem is that the MV doesn't suit Tatsumi.
Crazy Anthem, Parallel Maze, Bye Bye Buddy, and Love Me Monster all fit their units to a tee, concluding their arcs by putting an emphasis on the visuals within their MV. Crazy Anthem contains tons of references to past Crazy:B songs, Parallel Maze is a look into the progress Ra*bits has made, Bye Bye Buddy is a big final hurrah for Double Face, and Love Me Monster is reclaiming "monster" for the twins, a part of themselves that they've been struggling with throughout !!. I'm not going to comment on Fine's Climax because I am admittedly not very familiar with them.
Because Undying Holy Love has to be a Halloween song, I don't feel like it has any big significance to Tatsumi - at least, not in the visuals. Translations for the song aren't up yet so maybe I'm dead wrong, but just watching the MV I don't get the vibe of Tatsumi Climax. None of the MV seems to hold any significance to him, it's just a normal Halloween MV. If this had released last year alongside Helter Spider or Ghostic Treat House I wouldn't bat an eye. In fact, I'd be really delighted by it. In light of the other Climax songs, however, I feel like it's very lackluster.
I won't get into detail about my grievances with the Climax events but as a quick aside... Some of them feel like huge, impactful events (Crazy:B, Ra*bits, and Double Face were the best at feeling distinct from a normal event) but as we've continued, they've felt less special. To me, this feels like a disservice to Tatsumi who has such an interesting story and has grown so much over the last three years. By splitting the event into both our Halloween event and Tatsumi's Climax event, it feels like the team has split their focus too much and has in the end come up with something that is neither Alkaloid Halloween or Tatsumi Climax.
I could eat my words when the story gets released, but to me it feels like HappyEle should've picked one or the other, either commit to Alkaloid Halloween or to concluding Tatsumi's story and giving us an MV that is in line with the others. That's just my two cents on it, tho.
Song's still an absolute banger.
#enstars#ensemble stars#alkaloid#i'm sorry tatsumi i wanted to like this mv so bad#at least the song is still really good and really shows off his vocals#can't believe i wrote an entire essay on an mv and it wasn't knights or crazy:b who am i#if you're reading this kudos for reading my entire doctorate thesis on why tatsumi deserved a ~special mv~

I thought I'd share my overall thoughts on G Witch here. This is going to have lots of spoilers for it and other Gundam shows so BEWARE SPOILERS
I haven't been this exited watching a Gundam show since I watched Turn A a few years ago. Waiting with anticipation every week for Sunday to watch a new episode and loving it when it aired felt amazing. Few pieces of media do that for me. I liked the finale. I don't feel that strong about it. I'm happy that the girls had a gayly married ending. Sure I wish we had more, but I would say the same for Turn A, and many other media I've enjoyed. Now, do I think it was a good Gundam show? When I was thinking about this 20 minutes ago in the shower, I asked my self "What is a Gundam show?". Therefore I came up with 3 arguments about what defines Gundam.
Gundam is a show that depicts the disparity between the rich and the poor + giant robots in space. Every Gundam show has a major conflict that drives the characters into action, whether it is Zeon against the Earth federation, or Celestial Being against the world, and in G witch Earth against the space corporations. In the end it's always the big players play with their expensive space toys and the rest suffers because of it. The difference between those and G witch is that the characters are not fighting for one side or the other. We see attempts by Miorine to partially resolve it but in the end the show depicts only the resolution of their personal conflict. UC Gundam never resolved its conflict fully either, but the characters managed to get to the end of their current war while fighting for either side. A new war would always start in the next series. Now, is G witch a lesser Gundam for not depicting fully this major conflict? Maybe, if Gundam was just that. Some could argue that that is just a small part of Gundam, instead they could say:
Gundam is a Shakespearean drama with homoerotic tones written by a jaded director + giant robots in space. The grand conflicts, the revenge plots, the mysterious characters, you can see the Shakespeare influence in Tomino's work who also is a big fan of stage plays and the like. G witch fits somewhat well in that context, but we do get a proper gay relationship between the main characters + Utena references. While this categorization works for Tomino's Gundam, it doesn't feel the same for other Gundam shows, where many of the original drama of Gundam became just a point of reference. The revenge plots and the conflicts became Gundam tropes. The original Gundam became the inspiration for most of what followed it. The context of Gundam's creation was doomed to be lost by the following series in the franchise. And that context being:
Gundam is a toy commercial. The reason why Gundam exists in the first place was to sell toys. That is how a lot of art is created. Someone with more money than they could imagine wants to spend it by hiring artist to create for them. It has been like that since the birth of civilization and it still continues to be. Of course the political drama that Tomino created is appreciated beyond the original scope of the production companies, but Gundam still managed to sell those toys... well not at first, but later it certainly did. G witch has excelled in that department. It managed to create a compelling story that got a lot of people into the franchise and into gunpla. Model sales records asside, G Witch isn't going to be remembered by the fans as the Gundam with the most toys sold. What we will remember is this being the first gundam with a fem protagonist who is also in a gay relationship throughout it. One of the main criticisms of the show echoed throughout the web is that it's not enough. It's not enough episodes, it's not enough conflict, or world building, it's not enough GAY!!! I think one of the shows biggest weaknesses it's also one of its strengths. Its subtlety. The show is very subtle in many of its aspects, like the conflict Earth-space, but the most important one, the relationship between Miorine and Suletta. Their relationship develops in subtle ways. We see a hug, a hand holding, or a conversation between the two in the garden or their rooms. We never see the romantic development fully, but it's implied that it is happening off screen. That would definitely leave an audience starved for more lgbtq+ representation to want more. But, considering the context of THIS particular Gundam's creation, it's a miracle we even got what we did. A while ago I heard about the film Suzume by Makoto Shinkai, who has made quite a name for himself with films like Your Name etc etc. In an interview he mentioned how he wanted to have a fem love interest for the main girl protagonist, but that was not to be because of objections by the producers. And if that happened to a big name director, what about G witch? I don't know what this series went through to even get made, but I can't imagine it had it easy. That thought makes me appreciate its subtlety while also wanting for more. Overall, I loved the show, even if it is not perfect, even if I wanted more out of it.
Also also, I wanted to add in regard to what is a Gundam show, Mobile Fighter G Gundam broke all the rules of previous Gundam, it was so outlandish that it had a poor reception by Gundam fans of the era, but went to be appreciated as one of the best in the franchise. So who's to say what makes a good Gundam? Certainly not its "fans".

you make a good point about top Coriolanus but I just can’t convince myself he knows enough about what gay sex is to even know about topping. like canonically Lucy Gray was his first kiss and he’s like 👁️👅👁️ the whole time (but with blue eyes.) he just gives off the most clueless energy
one: i'm answering this because i assume you're eighteen or older.
two: i mean. i think the fact that he wants to punt sejanus at the sun unprovoked a majority of the time is the more glaring affront to realism here, personally, if we want to get into that. also, i don't really agree with him having "clueless energy" for a few reasons.
the first one being that he had a pretty solid reaction to his first kiss with lucy gray. he pulled her in close, they were about to go in for round two before they got broken apart, they both really enjoyed it, and he was even wise-cracking to his friend who made a comment about it after. if it's his first kiss ever, then it didn't seem like he was clueless at all.
i say "if," too, because of this passage that comes soon after that:
i think the separation of romance (feelings) and experiences (physicality?), the way they're described and this entire passage in general, is rather telling. the emphasis that they can't bring people home and that he can't entertain relationships because of that. coriolanus is inexperienced, yes, but i don't think he's clueless or entirely unknowing. this is all new for him, being this close to someone for once in his life, but he's handling it rather well. he doesn't know how he feels about lucy gray, but he knows that he likes it—whatever it is—and wants more. it feels good to kiss someone he has feelings for and that has feelings for him.
also. gay people exist in this world, and gay sex can be a lot of things—it isn't solely penetrative anal sex. furthermore, i don't think it takes a genius to explore one's body and imagine what you could do with it. dicks feel nice when you put them in things: hands, mouths, holes. 2 + 2 = 4. some things are different obviously, like the receiver's prep all of that, but. again, it doesn't take a genius to be imaginative, and porn has existed since forever, but even then, let us not forget that snow is extremely intelligent and at the top of his class lol. he's a quick-thinker and resourceful. this dude approaches everything with the "i need to win at [this]" mentality, throwing himself all in, and cares very much what people think of him. i don't think he'd do differently in such an instance. having cringefail sex isn't fitting for a snow.
to imagine coriolanus going after anyone other than lucy gray requires immense suspension of disbelief already. i would have a harder time believing that coriolanus actually for real likes sejanus than i would believing he could figure that his dick would feel nice in a man's hole, too.

Does morality come from within or outside ourselves?
That is a pretty central question in ethics isn't it? There are two sides to that conversation, one suggesting that morality is outside of ourselves - something that we've made to live in groups. Essentially morals would be mores - things we do because our culture demands those rules to be set in place. For instance, murder being wrong because if it wasn't you might be worried that a someone would murder you. It doesn't necessitate you believing in it, just asks you to conform. So that could also change depending on where you are.
The other side would be that we are inherently moral creatures with rules that we are somewhat born with. For example, we know murder is wrong inherently and not because society tells us it's wrong. While there may be times where it would be acceptable, we still shy away from it because we know deep down it is wrong.
Either way of looking at the question is somewhat wrong right? If we trust outside of ourselves and say that ethics are completely based on society then we aren't really able to say with any certainty what is 'right' or 'wrong'. After all, I think we can all agree there are times where society is wrong. We can be wrong.
On the other hand, if we say that there is a set of rules that are objectively what morality is - then how do you know those rules? Most people would look towards extensions that are outside of themselves to say this is how we know the standards which just goes back to relativism -or argue 'it is inherently known' ( we are born with morals) which doesn't seem right either.
Perhaps you could argue for God, and say that God grants us our morality, which I think resolves many of the pressing issues I said here - but it isn't any less unsatisfying of an answer and begs the question of how we know what God has set out.
So, in my opinion I don't quite know. I assume it might be somewhere in the middle - we are both products of our society and our society has some universal truths.
#can u tell I think about ethics a lot#he's describing absolute vs relative ethics and he's got like 86% of it right I'd give him a B for Bitch stop talking#pls know I think he's a philosophy bro and shouldn't be considered#anon#I can't believe I wrote an essay about this

Some of Baji's mischaracterization that gives me the ICK
It's 2024 and there are people out there who still can't understand Baji's character and mischaracterize him heavily, mostly because of the Bajifuyu ship.
DISCLAIMER: You can ship whoever you want. I'm just tired of seeing my favourite character constantly being mischaracterized because of toxic shippers. Also I'm not a shipper myself, I do not romanticize any of the relationships I mention below.
The biggest issue with Baji's character is the fact that Bajifuyu shippers (and sometimes just the fandom in general) constantly ignore Kazutora's role in Baji's life, meanwhile Kazutora made a huge impact on Baji's character. You can clearly see it not just in the anime or in the manga, but in the spin-off too.
Baji and Kazutora were that duo, they were a literal separated team within Toman. They met naturally, become friends instantly and spent most of their time together (many times without Toman). It's accepted by the fandom, that Kazutora's first real friend was Baji, but also Baji's first close friend was Kazutora.
Obviously Mikey and Baji were close as kids, but after Baji moved to a different place they weren't that close. I bet this is the reason why Baji didn't know about Shinichiro's bike shop, since when they met regularly Baji was a little kid and Shinichiro was a teenager without a bike shop. It also shows that Mikey and Baji aren't that close, they are more like childhood buddies than close friends.
I can talk about this for hours but now I only wrote it as a small disclaimer, before I get into my points, so let's go.
I am sick of it when:
they call Baji stupid (he literally outsmarted Kisaki, being smart not equals only book smart)
people headcanon him as a mean, aggressive, abusive bf (he is canonly no.1 best lover and he literally died because he has a heart of gold, let this bs go pls)
they can't understand the reason behind his suicide and make it a ship war (ICK)
people can't accept the fact Baji loves his friends differently, and not everyone is his bestie (it doesn't mean he does not love them, or prefers someone over the other but love can be different towards different people and it's absolutely normal!)
they make his character all about Bajifuyu (he is an individual, stop bringing up Chifuyu EVERYTIME when it comes to Baji. His character is much more than a guy in a dominant-submissive fanmade yaoi ship people like dragging him into!)
they make Chifuyu the good, perfect friend while constantly dragging Baji down and made him the bad guy in their relationship (I could write a whole essay just about this being a bullshit)
when they romanticize Bajifuyu (Baji canonly sees Chifuyu as a younger brother figure said by Baji's mom, but there are people out there who still believes unironically that they are in love... WHY?)
they ignore that Baji is very caring and affectionate not just towards Chifuyu, he is like this because these are his own personality traits. He behaves like this with everyone who's close to him. (Mikey, Kazutora, Ryuusei and just Toman in general)
people say Chifuyu was the only one who understood Baji's feelings and aims (the literal reason Baji died was because no one really understood his goals and behaviour, not even Chifuyu)
they romanticize Chifuyu's obsessiveness towards Baji (if Chifuyu was a girl, he would be cancelled for this behaviour immediately, but the double standard won again)
people make his death an opportunity to romanticize Bajifuyu (biggest ICK)
they say Baji is only distant with Chifuyu beacuse he is a tsundere (there are so many situations when Chifuyu truly annoys Baji, e.g. he said it many times that Chifuyu's infatuation really disturbs him and asked Chifuyu to stop)
Bajifuyu shippers ignore and hate Kazutora just because he disturbs their ship
they say Baji was a bad influence to Kazutora (Kazutora hung out with gangs even before he met Baji, he was already a part of the underworld. the reason Kazutora turned out that way was his abusive father and his horrible childhood in general. Baji literally saved him, and he could finally be himself around Baji without any judgement or harassment)
they ignore or even DENY Bajitora's bond because of Bajifuyu
they accept Bajifuyu, Kazufuyu or even the Bajitrio but HATE Bajitora (the biggest bullshit ever)
they can't recognise the fanservice of Bajifuyu and calls them canon because of the clear fanservice acts
people think Bajitora is one sided (more Baji sided) meanwhile Tora loves Baji more than his own life and shows it many times how much he loves Baji and how much Baji means to him
they accept that Chifuyu never changed his hairstyle after Baji made it for him (and obviously they romanticize it) but they are hating because Kazutora looked exactly like Baji in bad toman timeline
people ignore Bajitora and always forgets that they are very close to each other in every timeline. the new panels Wakui drew were also about Kazutora putting Chifuyu to his place after Chifuyu completly ignored Tora and disturbed his time with his best friend. (we all know Kazutora is very possessive with Baji for obvious reasons and does not tolerate being disrespected by someone)
The list could go on and on but these are the main problems I still see in this fandom when it comes to Baji's character.
I'm tired of seeing this amazingly well-written character turns into a boring, abusive, mean guy by the fandom who is only an abuser in a toxic fanmade yaoi ship.
SIDE NOTE:
To all the people who dislike him/call him mean and aggressive because he beat Chifuyu up:
This anime is based on a manga which takes place in the early 2000's gangster world in Japan. He is the captain of the 1st division, he is the leader, and his role is not just to be the strongest in the division but also to manage his team, bc this is also what a leader does. If someone is disrespectful, breaks the rules and shows a bad example to the others he has to punish them. In this world this is how things go. This won't make him a bad person, or an aggressive jerk. Baji can be very calm and collected when it comes to leading his division. He is a very good leader, who takes care of his teammates, so no surprise he is really loved by his division.
Also when he beat Chifuyu up before joining Valhalla: he hated himself for doing that. But he had to, he had no other choice. And Chifuyu had every right to stand up against Baji and tell him he's not doing it. But since Chifuyu never questions Baji's decisions as the captain of the first division he agreed with this one too, and also because he wanted to help him. Chifuyu knew exactly what he was doing when he let Baji doing this to him, and he went along with it. Stop bringing this up everytime and use it against Baji.

whoever voted for goth pls stop i beg you
- a goth
very important poll for all my fellow simmers
#in what world is she a goth#pls do some research on the goth subculture y'all#yk that's tiring#she's an angsty teen in the 2000s she was probably listening to grunge and emo#but most probably she was into metal bc that's what most angsty teens are into bc they don't know anything else#there's no way she's punk or goth bc#1 she doesn't dress like it#2 most people don't know punk bands and like i said some lines before it seems like nobody understand what goth means and#therefore she wouldn't know it either. when she became like that she was doing what she thought being angsty meant - metal.#so my answer is rocker/alt bc it's obvious she likes rock music BUT she doesn't fit into any of these categories tbh#i know i was talking about metal but i don't think she understands the meta subculture either.#like she's just a kid being rebellious idk if she fully understands why people get into subcultures or what they all entail#i can't believe i wrote an essay about a fictional pixelated character#so um yeah this is lilith pleasant by a goth's perspective thank you for coming to my ted talk#edit bc i wanna debunk another goth myth: she was probably a hot topic kid as well. mall “goths” are NOT goths. bye.#goth doesn't mean wearing black and being sad. goth means “person who listen to post-punk goth rock death rock and dark wave#duh.#if you don't listen to any of these genres you're not goth pls stop trying to tell us otherwise#as you can see that makes me very angry bc i'm tired of people like tha#also pastel goth is also not goth as well unless they listen to goth music as well#which in most cases they don't so they're also posers.

In which you realize you don't have to be perfect around Seungmin.
Hurt/comfort. (wrote this while listening to fine line so i do recommend listening to it hehe)
"I bought snacks for our movie night!" Seungmin excitedly announces, strutting inside your room with a grin on his face.
You snap your head towards him, guilt already cursing through your veins. "Was it tonight?"
"Yeah, did you forget?" he asks, a hint of amusement in his voice.
"No, no. Um... I just- I need to finish this essay first and..." your eyes rack frantically through your desk- everything looks so disorganized to you right now. "And I... I didn't wash the dishes from yesterday," you scratch your hand uncomfortably, suddenly recalling everything you are behind in. "And I promised I'll make you cookies, didn't I?" you ask, growing more agitated with each word.
You abruptly stand up, dropping your pen and darting towards the kitchen. Your hands are shaking as you rapidly grab a bowl from the sink to start washing it. But you can't hold it still and it falls to the ground, the loud thud echoing through your home.
You are behind on everything- your work, your cleaning, your promises.
"Yn?" Seungmin calls out your name cautiously but you don't answer him, too lost in your own thoughts. When did you let things go this much? You forgot your date with Seungmin, but you weren't one to forget. You're the one who remembers every single detail, making sure that everything runs smoothly.
But the stress of finals has taken a toll on you. It was hard to catch your breath when you felt like you were crumbling down under the weight of your self-deprecating thoughts.
And you don't want Seungmin to see you this way- anything short of perfect. He'd criticize you too, right? Like everyone before him did.
"Baby, breathe," he places his hand gently on your shoulder and you freeze in your place. Your hands are tightly clutching the countertop, and you don't dare to turn around and face him.
"I'm okay," you reply, willing your voice to be strong.
"Are you really ?" he asks you softly and you look up at the ceiling in a useless attempt to stop your tears from falling.
Seungmin didn't need you to talk. He simply glances at your tense shoulders and your foot that's furiously tapping the floor, and he knows. He has his answer.
Your back is still facing him, so he slowly wraps his arms around you from behind. His chin resting gently on top of your shoulder.
"I'm sorry I'm not perfect," you finally whisper after a few beats of silence.
"Who says I want perfect?"
"I just... Everything went wrong and I... I feel as if I let you down," you admit quietly and you expect Seungmin to let you go and turn away. But he doesn't, instead he tightens his hold on you and you almost can't believe it. He's staying.
"You didn't let me down. You are only human, I don't expect you to be put together all the time. Imagine how boring that would be," he adds with a chuckle and you smile despite yourself, your hand slowly raising up to rest on top of his.
"We'll wash the dishes together. And we'll bake the cookies together. But you'll work on your essay alone because why did you choose such a hard major," he jokes and you swat his hand playfully in reply.
"But I'm here," he turns you around, his eyes finally locking with yours. "We pick each other up when the other is down."
Seungmin gently wipes your tears away, before leaning in to place a soft kiss on your forehead. His lips linger in there for a couple more seconds than necessary, and you almost cry from the relief that's flooding your being. He stayed.
"You don't have to pretend around me. If you are feeling overwhelmed, just tell me, okay?"
"Okay," you smile at him and he nods, satisfied.
"Now..." Seungmin smiles mischievously at you and you know there is a twisted plan brewing in his head. Your suspicions are confirmed when he suddenly bends down and picks you up. He runs towards the living room where he throws you on the couch, and then he's on top of you, tickling you until you can't breathe anymore.
"How dare you forget about our movie night! I should be your one and only priority!"
"I'm sorry!" you yell through your giggles, but Seungmin doesn't yield. He keeps on tickling you until your cheeks ache from how hard you are laughing, and you're slowly starting to forget what made you so upset in the first place.
Truth is, Seungmin didn't mind that you forgot about your date. He just needed you to laugh again.

not to be such a boomer, but I think chatgpt is fucking this generation over, at least in terms of critical thinking and creative skills.
I get that it's easy to use and I probably would've used it if I was in school when it came out.
but damn.
y'all can't just write a fucking email?
also people using it to write essays ... i mean what is the point then?
are you gaming the educational system in pursuit of survival, or are you just unwilling to engage critically with anyone or anything?
is this why media literacy is so fucking ass right now?
learning how to write is learning how to express yourself and communicate with others.
you might not be great at it, but writing can help you rearrange the ideas in your brain. the more you try to articulate yourself, the more you understand yourself. all skills can be honed with time, and the value is not in the product. it's in the process.
it's in humans expressing their thoughts to others, in an attempt to improve how we do things, by building upon foundations and evolving old ideas into innovation.
scraping together a mush of ideas from a software that pulls specific, generic phrases from data made by actual humans... what is that going to teach you or anyone else?
it's just old ideas being recycled by a new generation.
a generation I am seriously concerned about, because digital tests have made it very easy to cheat, which means people aren't just throwing away their critical thinking and problem solving abilities, but foundational knowledge too.
like what the hell is anyone going to know in the future? you don't want to make art, you don't want to understand how the world works, you don't want to know about the history of us?
is it because we all know it's ending soon anyway, or is it just because it's difficult, and we don't want to bother with difficult?
maybe it's both.
but. you know what? on that note, maybe it's whatever.
fuck it, right, let's just have an AI generate "therefore" "in conclusion" and "in addition" statements followed by simplistic ideas copy pasted from a kid who actually wrote a paper thirty years ago.
if climate change is killing us all anyway, maybe generative ai is a good thing.
maybe it'll be a digital archive of who we used to be, a shambling corpse that remains long after the consequences of our decisions catch up with us.
maybe it'll be smart enough to talk to itself when there's no one left to talk to.
it'll talk to itself in phrases we once valued, it'll make art derived from people who used to be alive and breathing and feeling, it'll regurgitate our best ideas in an earnest but hollow approximation of our species.
and it'll be the best thing we ever made. the last thing too.
I don't really believe in fate or destiny, I think all of this was a spectacular bit of luck, but that's a poetic end for us.
chatgpt does poetry.
