Summary: Lisa quickly realizes she’s in deep trouble
///////
I quickly gathered up the leftover food, setting an assortment of a little bit of chicken, veggies, and noodles as I put a plate of it in the microwave. As the food warmed up, I ran around the apartment, picking up spare trash, clothes, and other things to make the apartment look as close to clean as I could manage with the many few moving boxes still littered around the floor.
Once that was done, I quickly checked myself in the mirror, fixing my hair. I wondered if I should change out of my dance clothes into something more comfy, but the beeping of the microwave threw me for a loop so I grabbed a sweater and slipped it on as I slid across the floor into the kitchen. The food was ready, heated up nice and hot. Shoot, maybe I should have asked if he likes Chinese food?
I didn’t want to keep him waiting, especially since he initiated the meeting in the first place.
“Okay, you can come over now! o/” - Lisa
Was the wave emoji too much? I face palmed as I realized how cringe I was acting. Why did I add that? I thought it was cute, but now I just feel stupid.
I leaned against the counter, waiting for Miguel’s response, but it never came. A storm began to brew outside as the sky turned dark, the pitter patter of rain splatting against the windows. I felt that it represented my emotions to this situation fairly well. The wave emoji was absolutely too much. I scared him off, didn’t I?
A bright light startled me as another portal opened up in my living room and I watched as Miguel stepped through it, his mask dematerialized to show his face. The portal closed as he looked around the apartment before spotting me, offering me a polite nod. “Thank you for agreeing to meet with me,”
“Oh, no problem at all, Miguel,” I smiled softly at him as I motioned my hand towards the couch. “Make yourself comfortable,”
He glanced back at the couch before nodding towards me again, “Thank you,” he walked around, his long legs making big strides with each step before he sat down. He had to be over 6 feet tall at least.
“Need anything to drink?” I offered as I took a peek in the fridge to stop myself from staring at his back.
“Water would be great,” He replied.
I grabbed two water bottles from the fridge before taking Miguel’s plate of food in the other and calmly made my way over towards the couch. If this was an emergency, Miguel would be more upset, frantic even. He appeared calm and collective as he accepted the plate I handed to him and set his water bottle on the coffee table, causing a pulse of relief to wash over me.
“So, what did you want to talk to me about?” I asked him as I sat on the opposite end of the couch to give him space.
I watched as he took a bite out of his food, gulping it down before speaking. “We have reason to believe that Oscorp might try to go after you again,”
“Oscorp? You mean those guards that kidnapped me?” My eyes widened at the realization.
“Peter and I realized that they were experimenting with radioactive spiders, trying to recreate the venom that gives Spider-Man, well, their powers. Since you got bitten, they can’t use the spider anymore,” Miguel shook his head before he cast a hard stare. “Meaning, they’ll try to use you instead,”
“You mean take my powers away?” I gasped, my grip on my water bottle tightening as the plastic crinkled under my grip. “But when they tried to do it the first time, they said the process would kill me. . .”
“All the more reason I’m here,” Miguel stated firmly. “I don’t know when they intend to strike. I have a plan, which is why I asked you to meet with me,”
“What did you have in mind?” I asked him as I watched him calmly take more bites of his food, the stress of the situation leaving an unsettling sensation in my stomach.
“I’d like to stay here and keep watch for the night,” He stated before his eyes quickly widened as he registered what he had said before placing a hand over his chest. “With your blessing, of course,”
“You’d be staying here?” My breath hitched at the idea. Miguel. In my apartment. Overnight. While I was asleep.
“Yes, but I’ll keep watch somewhere you’d be comfortable with,” He spoke reassuringly as his hand gently brushed across the couch cushion closer towards me, “I can monitor things on the roof, or stay here,”
I noticed the close proximity of his hand. I glanced up at his face to see him giving me a relaxed, almost charming half smile. Was he trying to appear relaxed to keep me calm?
Then why is this the closest he’s willingly ever been with me?
I blushed at the gesture as I quickly stood up and stepped away from the couch. “How about the roof? I was gonna get ready for bed now, actually,”
I watched as Miguel pulled his hand back, waiting anxiously to see how he’d react. I was pleasantly surprised and somewhat relieved when he nodded calmly.
“Of course, I’ll let you get some rest,” He finished the last few bites of his meal before setting the plate aside as he stood up from the couch. “Thank you again for the lovely meal,”
“You’re welcome,” I gave him a polite smile as I watched him walk over to one of the larger windows of my apartment and stepped out into the fire escape.
I watched him closely as the rain drops stained his face, dampening his brown hair as he looked back at me, offering me another half smile before materializing his mask on and jumped up higher and out of my view.
My heart was pounding in my chest as I walked slowly towards the nook of my room where my bed was, closing the curtain to give me more privacy. I began to change out of my clothes into my pajamas and looked over to where my spider suit hung in my closet and suddenly felt a sharp buzz in my mind.
My vision became more clear as this sixth sense coursed through me. No, my Spider-Sense again. Something was definitely wrong. I changed out of my clothes and reached for my suit.
///////
Gwen’s P.O.V.
Hobie, Pav, and I were walking through the halls of the main hall of the Spider Society, chatting away while passing Miguel’s lab when his doors flew open and he stepped outside.
“Whoa, Miguel! You okay–” Gwen was in the middle of asking him what was wrong when he shot an accusing glare at her.
“What are you doing here?”
“Easy, don’t need to get up all in her face, boss,” Hobie narrowed his eyes at Miguel as he took a daring step forward in front of Gwen.
Miguel looked like he was going to snarl at Hobie, and maybe risk a punch at him so Gwen quickly stepped in between them, diffusing the potential brawl.
“What are you talking about Miguel?” She asked as she looked over to their leader.
“Aren’t you supposed to be with Lisa for dinner?” He responded, trying to keep his voice calm.
“Um we were, Mr. O’Hara, sir!” Pav stepped to the side, saluting Miguel as he spoke calmly and politely. “But Lisa said that you messaged her requesting to speak with her in private and asked us to leave,”
“Meeting? What meeting?” Miguel’s shoulders slowly relaxed from his tense demeanor.
“You asked to speak with her about classified information?” Pav elaborated more, forming air quotes with his fingers.
“I wasn’t planning on seeing her until–”
Suddenly it clicked. Gwen could see the gears turning in Miguel’s mind.
“Morning. . .” he finished his sentence, his voice trailing off.
Something was definitely wrong. He didn’t have Spider-Sense, but he quickly put two and two together that something was definitely wrong.
“But I saw the messages pop up from her Gizmo. It was your frequency number that was messaging her,” Gwen stated as she and the others followed Miguel back into his lab.
“Lyla, run a security check on my Gizmo’s communications link,” Miguel commanded as he swung up to his platform, the other three Spider’s following close behind him.
“Checking now,” Lyla got straight to work as Miguel tossed his Gizmo in a tracker beam magnetic field as Lyla’s drones patched in and scanned the device. “Oh no,”
“What is it?” Gwen asked with an edge in her voice.
“Miguel, someone hacked your communication link earlier tonight. They hijacked the sensor so my security protocol wouldn’t alert me,” Lyla spoke hastefully as she brought up the results on the monitor.
“What were the messages?” Miguel asked.
Lyla brought up a side screen where she manually logged Miguel back into the chat and a cluster of unread messages appeared on the screen. “¿Qué? ”Miguel’s eyes widened with shock as his mouth silently spoke the words written in the texts before speaking, “I never sent those,”
“Then if you didn’t send them, then who’s with Ms. Lisa?” Pav spoke fearfully as he glanced between the group.
Gwen watched as Miguel's muscles tensed up, his shoulders squared up as he used his glowing red web shooter to snatch back his Gizmo and slipped it onto his wrist. “Lyla, set the coordinates to Lisa’s apartment,”
“I’m trying but someone slightly smarter than me is jamming the signal,” Lyla growled in frustration as she tirelessly “Slightly smarter,”
“Then get me as close to the apartment as you can,” Miguel commanded with an intense growl.
He tried to send a message to Lisa, but the connection was having trouble stabilizing long enough to get it through.
“Miguel, let us help,” Gwen stated as Lyla finally opened a portal to Lisa’s dimension.
“Wait here, I’m not risking any more damage to Lisa’s dimension,” Miguel responded with a stern look as he rolled his shoulders, cracking his neck. “I’ll call you if I need back up,”
“Yes sir!” Pav saluted him.
Gwen could feel through her Spider-Sense that Miguel’s heart was pounding inside his chest. She knew Lisa had to be in serious trouble if Miguel was getting so worked up about this as she and the others watched Miguel sprint through the portal, vanishing before their eyes.
She knew whoever was on the other side would be in very deep shit for messing with Miguel, and more importantly, if Lisa had gotten hurt.
//////
Lisa’s P.O.V.
I slipped my pajamas over my spider suit, clutching the crock top hoodie tightly in my fingers as I felt my nerves go into overdrive. Was I overreacting? I mean if Miguel was calm then I should be too, right? He deals with this multi-verse anomaly stuff all the time. I shouldn’t worry.
But then why did it feel like the hairs on the back of my neck stood up, or got a shiver down my spine when he looked at me like that? With that half smile of his, and the look in his eyes. He’s never looked at me like that before.
I shook those thoughts away as I pulled the hoodie over my head, throwing it on. Just as I was crawling into bed, my Gizmo started ringing. I glanced at the screen, but the caller ID wasn’t registering properly. The screen displayed it as an unstable connection, but the option to answer the call was still coming through. So I answered it.
“Hello?”
“Lisa, listen to me,” Miguel spoke quickly, “You need to get out of your apartment. NOW!”
Miguel? Why was he calling me if he was only on the roof? Unless. . .
“Miguel, what’s going on?” I asked him with uncertainty.
“Lisa, I’ll explain later, but you need to get out of your apartment, right now!” He ordered as I could hear his harsh breathing and the whips of his web shooters in the background.
Why would he be swinging if he was already out on the roof? Then my Gizmo vibrated for a split second, the connection stabilized and a flood of messages appeared on a holoscreen above my face.
“Gizmo compromised!” - Miguel
“Oscorp is looking for you!” - Miguel
“Someone is impersonating me!” - Miguel
“GET OUT OF THERE NOW!” - Miguel
“Lisa? Lisa, can you hear me?” Miguel asked through the communication link.
“Lisa?” I heard Miguel’s voice again, but not through the Gizmo. I abruptly muted the call on my Gizmo as I looked over towards my open window.
I didn’t dare open my curtain, but I could see the shadow of Miguel’s figure sitting at the window. My heart was pounding in my chest as I took deep and steady breaths.
“Everything alright?” He asked as I watched his head tilt to the side.
“Yes, why wouldn’t I be?” I responded with a faint chuckle as my palms began to sweat. “I have you here watching my back,”
“Just a feeling,” He spoke as I watched his body step through the window and back into the apartment.
I could feel my body heat up instantly as I watched him take a few cautious steps closer towards the curtain.
I coughed into my fist, trying to compose myself. “Well, I’m ready for bed, so I’m going to get some sleep now,”
I watched as he tilted his head to the side again, as if he were trying to stare at me through the curtain. “In a hoodie? In the middle of spring?”
“I, uh, get chilly easy,” I nervously replied, “It’s the air conditioning,”
“Oh, well if that’s the case,” there was an almost sultry chill to his voice that sent a shiver down my spine as his hand reached for the curtain, pulling it back enough to reveal a dark and predatory look in his brown eyes. “I’ll keep you warm,”
His appearance startled me as I fell back on my bed, and I almost didn’t process his words in time as he tried to reach out, grabbing my arms to pin me down. A memory flashed in my mind of a man around my age doing the same thing while we were at my dorm, and then it cut to my step father scolding me.
I shrieked as I thrusted my knee into his jaw, making him bite his tongue as he screamed. He let go of me, stepping back before I kicked him again with my foot, shoving him away and knocking over the support beam of the curtain as it toppled to the floor. I immediately jumped away from the bed, standing in the living room as I panted heavily. My entire body was sweating as I watched Miguel slowly recover from my attack. No, not Miguel.
Not my Miguel.
“Who the hell are you?!” I shouted.
“Now, now, mi vida, is that any way to treat your friend?” Miguel lectured me with a dark laugh. - My pretty
I wanted to fight back, but at the risk of using my powers and tearing my dimension apart, I grabbed a vase and threw it at his head before I made a break for the door. I heard the breaking of the vase and didn’t dare turn back as I grabbed the door knob, but collapsed to the floor when I felt something grab my ankle and yank me down.
I yelped as my body hit the floor, vaulting to my side to see what had grabbed me. Miguel had caught my ankle with a web shooter. A normal one, not his glowing red ones. I saw it now. He was hiding it under the sleeve of his suit. Miguel chuckled with an evil look in his eyes as he yanked on the web sling, pulling me across the floor.
“No, no, no, stop! Get away from me!” I screamed as I tried to scramble to my feet, but the more I tried, the harder he yanked me back.
“You’re only making this harder for yourself, Lisa,” Miguel made a tsked sound with his tongue, shaking his head with a disappointed frown.
“You’re not Miguel,” I yelled. “Stay away from me!”
He yanked me back once more until he towered over me, his feet planting on either side of me. Tears were in my eyes as I tried to defend myself but he grabbed my wrists, using his web shooters to stick some web fluid on them to stick them together. He threw them aside before reaching for my neck and applying pressure.
“You have something that belongs to Mr. Osborne, and he wants it back,” Miguel stated before his lips curled into a smile, his free hand literally ripping into my pajamas to reveal the rest of my spider suit. “But don’t worry. I’ll take very good care of you until then,”
I whimpered softly as he extended his thumb, the rough skin of his brushing against my lips. I tried to squirm free, but the more I moved, the more pressure his hand applied to my neck. I didn’t care if I blacked out. I didn’t care if I ran out of air. I had to do something. So knowing that the call was still live on my Gizmo, I screamed at the top of my lungs.
“MIGUEL, HELP!”
“He’s not coming, cariño, I made sure of that. I’d save that pretty voice of yours for—” Miguel’s threat was interrupted by the sound of a loud, menacing roar. - sweetheart
At the corner of my tear stained eyes I watched as a pair of red hued web shooters shot through the window and stuck to the floor.
“Get your shocking hands– OFF OF HER!” A familiar voice yelled as Spider-Man 2099 flung himself through the window and tackled Miguel off of me.
They both banged into the door, and the man who I absolutely knew was Miguel grabbed his doppelganger by the collar and shoved him against the door, punching his gut and face multiple times before shoving him into the kitchen counter.
He looked over towards me, a feral look in his red eyes. “Lisa, RUN!”
As the pair fought, I pulled myself up to my feet, scrambling for the window as I pulled myself over it and into the now pouring rain. I ran up the emergency fire escape, trying not to trip or slide from the rain water. The liquid turned my web robes into mush as I pulled my wrists free from their prison, tossing the gooey mess aside as I made it to the other.
I could still faintly hear their brawl as I ran and hid one of the bigger air vents. I huddled down, my knees tucked close to my chest as my body trembled, waiting for this whole ordeal to be over. Miguel. . . he’d never take advantage of me like that. That was a phony, a fake. Miguel. . .
He came for me.
I didn’t know how long I was out there in the cold rain. But at some point the fighting died down, and I could hear a web sling go off and the whoosh of a figure flying up, grunting as he landed on the roof. His steps splashed in the puddles as he looked around.
“Lisa?” He called out. “Lisa, it’s safe to come out now!”
Liar. Was it really him? Was this another trick?
I sucked in a shaky breath as I readied my web fluid. Dimension in jeopardy or not, I was going to defend myself. No more running.
I sprang up from my hiding spot, aiming my wrists at Miguel. “Don’t come any closer!”
He immediately put his hands above his head, a wave of relief washing over his face as he looked at me with sharp eyes through the mask. “Lisa, it’s okay,”
“Don’t you even think about putting your hands on me again!” I threatened.
Hearing the pain in my voice triggered something in Miguel. He dematerlized his mask. “Lisa, por favor escúchame amiga, it’s me, Miguel,” - Please, listen to me, my friend
“How do I know you’re not lying to me?” I asked with a shaky breath.
“What can I do to earn your trust?” He asked calmly, his eyes pouring into mine.
The rain pumped around us as thunder roared in the distance. My mind raced as I thought of a solution, gasping for air as I spoke. “Tell me. Tell me something about me only you would know,”
I could see the pupils of his eyes shift as he registered the request, no, an order. He slowly lowered his hands, but kept them up and away from his web shooters. His hair, skin and suit were soaking wet, but that was the least of his concern.
“Alright,” he nodded slowly. “Alright,’
I stood firm, not lowering my wrists as I kept them aimed at his chest.
“I know that during our work outs that you prefer to use the treadmill than the punching bag because you think you’re not strong enough to use it, and I’ve offered to teach you,” He started, his eyes shifting as he quickly thought of more reasons as he kept speaking. “I know that you told me that song you performed during our fight was from one of your favourite animated movies, sorry, anime, specifically,”
I could literally feel the walls around my defenses starting to break. My hands began to shake, but I still didn’t let them buckle as I stood firm.
“I know that you like spicy food despite your stomach issues, you’ll eat it anyway. I know you absolutely love K-Pop, I think, sorry– I know you’re a talented dancer, I know back during your first visit to the Doc, you grabbed my hand and I didn’t let go, and I know that when we first met, at the warehouse? I saw you looking at me when I rescued you,”
As my heart pounded, I felt it skip a beat. Twice. Maybe three times. When Miguel realized I wasn’t going to shoot him, he lowered his arms completely as he gave me a tired smile.
“You want to know something about me that I think you’d know?” He asked.
I cautiously lowered my arms ever so slightly, watching him carefully. “What’s that?” I asked him.
He took a confident step forward, “I’d think of way better and original pet names for you, my Mona Lisa,”
The walls shattered, completely breaking apart. It really was him. My Miguel O’Hara. My Spider-Man 2099. A cry broke free from my lips as I could feel my knees buckle and in an instant, Miguel was at my side. His grip was gentle, his arms wrapped around my back and shoulders as I cried into his neck. He materialized his cape and ripped it from his back, wrapping it around me as a blanket as I could hear police sirens in the distance.
“I think my neighbors called the cops,” I sniffled.
“I can help with that,” Miguel spoke softly as he placed a comforting hand on my head, brushing a lock of hair away from my face. “Do you trust me?”
“Yes,”

fairy tale
the sequel to favorite galaxies! the song that is referenced later on and is the title is fairy tale by homemade haircuts :] (read the third part here)
After multiple pleads of Tommy, Wilbur and even Phil, Techno finally built up enough courage to ask you to come over again.
“I did it, (Y/N)’s coming over for dinner tonight.” Techno told his family when he came downstairs from his room. Phil and Wilbur cheered, Tommy began jumping up and down. Techno chuckled, “they said they were going to bring dessert as well, but needed to know whether you guys preferred vanilla or chocolate cake.”
“Aw they don't need to do that.” Phil said before Techno cut him off, “That’s what I said as well but I wasn’t able to change their mind.”
“Chocolate?” Wilbur suggested and they all nodded, Techno off to his room again to talk with you.
“Hey (Y/N)?” he said as he unmuted himself in the discord call. “Shit!” you yelped, “Sorry, you scared me.” Techno laughed, “Sorry, sorry. They said chocolate. They’re all really excited to see you again, especially Tommy.” “I’m really excited to see them too. How have they been doing?” you asked. Techno smiled, “good! Wilbur hasn’t stopped asking to meet you and neither has Tommy. He’s literally been asking about you multiple times a day.” You aww’ed and Techno smiled, excited to see you again. “That’s so sweet. I’m really excited to meet Wilbur and see Tommy again, he’ll love the dessert I’m bringing.”
“What are you making?” Techno asked. “Ahhh that my dear is a secret. Now I must go to work on it.” you said and Techno huffed, making you laugh. “Hey I’ll be there tonight, okay? Don’t get too sad, bye Tech!” “I’ll try, bye (Y/N).”
You smiled to yourself as you stood up to make chocolate cupcakes with galaxy frosting.
After finishing piping the cupcakes, you smiled. They looked pretty good, you couldn’t wait to see Tommy’s reaction to them.
~
Your hand reached to knock on the door when it suddenly opened to reveal Techno with Tommy in his arms. “(Y/N)!” the toddler yelled excitedly as he reached for you. “Tommy!” you exclaimed, hugging him and shooting Techno a smile. “How have you been, big guy?” you asked Tommy. “Good! I made more drawings today.” he told you. “All of which are galaxies by the way.” Techno added, gesturing for you to come inside. “Oh really? Show me!” you said to Tommy and he nodded, climbing out of your arms when you reached the living room.
“Hey (Y/N)! It’s good to see you again.” Phil said when he saw you. “Thanks for letting me come over again.” you smiled and you turned to Wilbur, “nice to meet you, I’m (Y/N).” Wilbur smiled, “Oh trust me, I know. Neither of my brothers have shut up about you. Nice to meet you too, I’m Wilbur.”
You laughed and turned to look at Techno, whose face was now a deep red. “Wilbur I’m going to ki-” he began before Tommy interrupted him. “Look!” he said and he held up one of his drawings. You quickly shot Techno a wink before complimenting Tommy on his drawings, also telling him some new facts you came across online.
Techno’s eyes widened, his face an even deeper shade of red. He stood there frozen for a split second before he heard a small snicker of Wilbur. That asshole. Phil smacked his oldest son, making Techno snort. Deserved.
“So what did you make for dessert (Y/N)?” Phil asked. “That’s a surprise. Speaking of, is there anywhere I can put it?” you answered and he nodded, getting up to lead you to the kitchen. “You really can’t show me?” He tried again and you chuckled, “okay then, but don’t tell them anything.”
He zipped his mouth shut and you grabbed the container from your bag, opening the lid to reveal the cupcakes. “Holy shit (Y/N) these look great! Oh my god Tommy will love these.” he said. “Aw thank you, I really hope so.” you said as he got out some ingredients so the container would fit. “Is there any way I can help with dinner?” You offered but he firmly denied again, calling out for Wilbur.
“Yes father?” he said when entering the kitchen. “You’re helping me with dinner.” Phil answered and Wilbur saluted him. You wondered how the three brothers could be this different. “So (Y/N), what did you make for dessert?” Wilbur asked, making you laugh. Different yet all the same. “All of your curiosity is making it very hard but I’m not telling you.”
Wilbur pouted at you and you shook your head no, you weren’t going to slip up now.
You felt someone tap against your leg and you looked down to see Tommy. “Hey Tommy, what’s up?” you asked as you crouched to face him. He leaned in to whisper, “Techno told me to come save you.” You giggled and followed Tommy back to Techno, who was sitting on the couch. He smiled when he saw you walking to him, he missed you already. “What’s up?” you asked, sitting next to him. Tommy quickly crawled in your lap, melting the boy in front of you.
“I- uhm I listened to the playlist you sent me and I really liked it.” he told you and your eyes lit up, “really? What song was your favorite?” “I think it was called Fairy Tale? The band name was something with haircuts in it I believe.”
You felt your stomach explode with butterflies at the realization he was talking about the love song that reminded you of him. Thoughts were now flooding your mind, about if he thought of you when listening to the song, did he even realize what the lyrics were, did he just liked the song with no further intention, does he like y- “(Y/N?)” Techno suddenly said, snapping you back to the conversation. “Hmm? Oh- Fairy Tale! That’s a good song, one of my favorites as well actually.” you answered blushing. Techno grinned and took a glance at Tommy, seeing him nearly asleep. His hand reached to poke the younger awake but you swatted his hand away. Techno raised his eyebrow at you, to which you smiled and calmly told Tommy to stay awake for a little bit longer. In response Tommy huffed and cuddled closer, which was a bad idea on his part. Techno began tickling him, earning loud laughter and screams from Tommy.
Phil and Wilbur looked at each other at the same time, then quickly poking their heads out of the kitchen to see what was causing the disturbance. Wilbur sighed in relief at the sight of the three of you laughing, going back to the kitchen just as quick leaving Phil who stayed put a little longer. He couldn't stop the massive smile from spreading to his face and the warm feeling rising. Wilbur called out for Phil who, with one last glance, returned to the kitchen
Once Tommy calmed down from his hysteria Techno put on some Avatar, also slowly scooting closer to you. Upon noticing you smiled softly and put your arm lightly around his shoulders. Techno’s face heated up, not really used to this closeness. He could say he didn’t like it but he wasn’t really the one for lying.
After one episode Wilbur started setting the table, quickly eyeing the three of you, a mixture of shock and pride on his face. He didn’t know how his brother managed it, but he was impressed. “Dinner’s nearly ready.” he told them, getting nods in response. Tommy had fallen asleep after all, so you attempted to wake him up. Attempted being the key word, he was still half asleep when you took a seat at the dinner table. “Tommy, you know you can’t have dessert without eating dinner right?” Phil told him and Tommy quickly woke up, climbing off your lap to his own chair. The two other brothers and you were laughing but Phil quickly shushed all of you and told you what was for dinner, “Roast veggies, roast potatoes and steak!”
He gave everyone their portions, everyone also immediately digging in. You complimented him, it was really good. Phil thanked you, soon the room filled with conversation and laughs.
~
“Dessert time!!” Tommy exclaimed excitedly as everyone finished up their dinner and cleared off the table. You chuckled and walked to the kitchen with Phil. While he was boiling the water and grabbing the cups and plates, you took the container from the fridge and started placing them on little plates.
“Surprise!” Phil said as you two walked out of the kitchen, both holding a tray. All of the boys went quiet, excited and curious. You put your tray down, earning wow’s from Techno, Wilbur and Tommy. “Tech! Look, they’re like galaxies!” Tommy said and Techno laughed, “yeah they are. They look great (Y/N).” You smiled, really happy that Tommy recognized them. “You‘ve done a great job, these look incredible.” Wilbur said and you thanked him while handing out the plates with the cupcakes. Phil filled up the tea cups and soon new conversation was flowing. Wilbur asked a few questions, curious about the person his brother was in love with. You answered all of them happily, Techno butting in when the questions were school related.
It didn't take long before more embarrassing childhood stories were told, all of you laughing, Techno tallying the times Wilbur embarrassed him in his head for later payback. Tommy was telling you about how he told his best friend Tubbo about galaxies as well and that he loved them too. You tried not to physically melt and told him to invite him over so you could draw together. Tommy got so excited he jumped off his chair and started running around the house, the remaining at the table laughing again. You took a glance at the clock, caught off guard by the way time had flown by.
“I hate to be that person but I’m afraid I have to get going.” you said, getting understanding nods from everyone. Tommy abruptly stopped and dramatically huffed. He dragged himself back to his chair and sat down with a big pout. “Hey don’t worry bud, I’m sure (Y/N) will be back soon.” Phil said to him, making him look at you hopefully. “Yeah I will! Don’t worry about it too much, okay big man?” you smiled and he nodded, getting up and giving you a hug. Phil glanced at Techno, watching his expression change to pure and absolute adoration. It made Phil happy, even if he never knew what it truly felt like. The happy sparkles that Techno’s eyes held whenever you were there were enough.
Wilbur and Techno cleaned up the table, you had offered to help but your attempts were quickly shut down. You glared at the pair when they walked away, making Phil laugh. Your gaze shifted to Phil, now also glaring at him. He only laughed harder, making Tommy giggle as well. You tried your hardest not to break but when Tommy began laughing as well you broke and laughed along with them.
“Are you going to ask them out?” Wilbur asked Techno, catching the latter off guard. “What? Ask them out? Like to be my partner?” Techno replied and Wilbur nodded. “I-I don’t know. That’s a big step. What if they don't like me and I ruin our friendship? What if they don't want to be friends anymore because they’ll think it’s- I’m weird? What if-” Techno rambled before Wilbur cut him off. “Dude. Do you need new glasses? You two look at each other like you are each other’s world and were literally cuddling on the couch earlier. You said they made a playlist for you right?”, Techno nodded, “well there you have your answer. Trust me, they feel the same.” He was still processing what Wilbur said when he heard your laugh and automatically smiled. Wilbur noticed and chuckled, “you’re so whipped for them, I can’t believe it. What happened with the ‘I’m independent I don’t need anyone ever’ Techno?”
Techno quickly smacked the back of Wilbur’s head before he could get more words out, making Wilbur laugh. Techno rolled his eyes, put away the dishes and walked back to the kitchen table. You smiled at him, getting up to grab your bag and jacket. Meanwhile Wilbur also came back from the kitchen, with your container in hand. “Oh thank you, I completely forgot about that,” you chuckled, “also thanks for letting me stay over again.” “No problem (Y/N), truly. Thank you for the cupcakes, they were really good.” Phil said, “and really pretty!” Tommy added and you giggled, thanking them and saying your goodbyes.
Techno walked with you to the door, thinking about what Wilbur had said in the kitchen. “Thank you for inviting me, it was a lot of fun.” you told him, interrupting his train of thoughts. “Of course, you’re welcome here any time. I think Tommy likes you more than he likes his own brothers.” he said and you laughed, “impossible. I’m sure he would love watching Avatar with you as well.” He shrugged, “I do prefer watching it with you though.”
Your cheeks flushed red and a smile crept up on your face. “Well, let’s watch more together soon then.” you said to which he quickly agreed to. He couldn’t wait to have your arm around him again. His cheeks heated up and he quickly looked down.
“I really do have to go though, my parents will kill me if I come home too late.” you said and he nodded, eyes still on the ground. You leaned in to kiss his cheek, just as he looked up to say goodbye. Noticing it on time, you quickly stopped, eyes wide and cheeks flushed. It didn’t help much, both of your faces now inches apart. His face held the same reaction, his heart racing. He thought back to what Phil and Wilbur had said and decided, fuck it, as he leaned in to close the gap and kiss you. You stiffened for a second, you’d silently hope this would happen but were still surprised. Techno noticed and quickly pulled back, apologizing profusely. You tried to tell him it was more than okay, you were just caught off guard but he kept cutting you off with apologies. You shook your head, leaning in again and kissing him. He finally shut up and kissed back, his hands now on your waist and yours on his cheeks.
Techno pulled back again, looking into your eyes. You raised your eyebrow, wondering why he all of sudden stopped. “I- uhm, well,” he stuttered, your hands dropped to his cheek and he sighed, it was now or never. “Do you- Would you want to be my partner?” he asked quietly. Your eyes widened, shock taking over your expression. Was this real? The boy you’ve been loving since you could remember felt the same? You were brought back to reality by his hands leaving your waist and his mouth opening to apologize. “Yes. Yes I’d love to.” you quickly said, making the biggest smile ever cross Techno’s face. “Really?” he asked and you nodded while laughing, feeling all giddy and happy. He engulfed you in his arms, giving you the biggest hug ever. The two of you stayed like that for a few moments, before Techno let you go making you frown. He chuckled, “I know dear, but I don’t want your parents to kill either of us.” “Yeah I guess you’re right. I’ll text you when I get home.” you said before giving him a quick kiss and turning around to walk away. “Bye (Y/N), be careful!” Techno said while waving. “I will!” you told him and waved back with a smile. Holy shit.
Techno closed the door and leaned against it. Did that really just happen? His heart and stomach were doing backflips. He smiled to himself, you were his partner now.
His smile hadn’t toned down when he walked back to the rest of his family, who were impatiently waiting on him. “And?” “So?” Phil and Wilbur said at the same time, making Techno laugh. “We- I- We’re together now.” he told them, earning the loudest cheers he’s ever heard. “Congratulations man! I’m proud of you.” Phil told him and Techno thanked him, sitting down on the couch with them. “Did you ask them?” Wilbur asked and Techno nodded. “Dude! Congrats. What happened?” He asked and Techno told them everything that happened.
Tommy, who was supposed to be asleep in his bed, came downstairs after hearing the cheering. “What’s going on?” he asked sleepily and Techno chuckled, “(Y/N) and I are dating.” he answered and the blonde nodded, “does that mean they’ll come over more?” he asked. “I think so, yeah.” Techno told him and Tommy nodded again, walking over to his family and sitting next to Techno. “C’mon, let’s go upstairs. You need to sleep and I need to check if (Y/N) is home safely.” Techo said to Tommy after picking him up and saying to goodnight to his dad and older brother. “Can I say goodnight to them?” Tommy asked and Techno nodded, taking him to his room. He started up his computer, happy to see a message from you. He quickly typed a response before video calling you and putting his headset on Tommy.
You answered the call almost right away, aww’ing when you saw Tommy with the big headset on. “Hey big man, shouldn’t you be sleeping?” you said and he nodded, “yes but I woke up because they were all being loud and then Techno was going to talk to you and I wanted to say goodnight.” Techno smiled softly, kind of bummed he couldn’t hear your replies. “Awe that’s not good. Next time you just punch Techno lightly and he’ll be quiet.” you said to Tommy, making him giggle mischievously. Techno raised his eyebrow at both of you, that didn’t seem good. “I will. Goodnight (Y/N)!” Tommy said while waving. “Goodnight! Sleep well and sweet dreams.” you smiled and waved back. “I’ll be right back.” Techno said into the headset as he put it down and went to put Tommy in his bed.
After a few minutes he was back, “hey love.” he said as he put on his headset. “Gosh!” you sighed, making Techno laugh. “Please give me an announcement next time, I think I just lost 10 years of my life.” you said, Techno only laughing harder. “I will, I will, sorry.” he smiled. The two of you talked all night, switching to your phones when it became too late. You fell asleep first, Techno chuckling when he heard your soft snores. “Goodnight, (Y/N).” he whispered, before falling asleep himself.

Your Ass Is Out of This World (Kelley x Reader)
Tumblr media
Request: alex or kelley or sonnett x reader where they've been dating for a few years R is an astronaut for NASA and she gets to go to space
Author’s Note: Special thanks to @literaryhedgehog cause without her, none of this would have happened.
Kelley wasn’t quite sure how she had ended up standing next to a dive bar sipping a lukewarm beer on a Friday night. In her defense, Ali and Ashlyn had convinced her it would be fun and had promised to pay for the Uber rides both ways. It had been fun for a while, dancing with them to some old 70s songs on the light-up dance floor, but half an hour ago they had disappeared off into a hallway somewhere, and she had no intention of third-wheeling (she knew she should have convinced Alex to join them). But she also wasn’t going to leave without them, because she wasn’t convinced either of them were sober enough to take any kind of transportation safely (someone needed to be there to make sure they didn’t puke in someone’s car).
So here she was, standing by the bar waiting for her friends’ sexcapades to be over, nursing her drink. The clink of a glass settling in front of her caught her attention. She blinked at the bartender. “I didn’t order another one,”
The man’s lips ticked up and he shrugged. “Lady on the end paid for it. Said you looked sad,”
Kelley looked up, following the man’s eyes towards a woman standing a few seats down the bar from her. She was also standing alone but was dressed as though for a different event altogether. Kelley had embraced the 70s theme of the bar slightly, wearing a jumpsuit and a scarf around her head, but this woman had just thrown a white NASA shirt--like the one Kelley got for her little cousin at Target-- over a pair of black jeans. As she bobbed her head to the music she met Kelley’s eyes and smiled.
Kelley took that as her invitation to approach. Kelley’s eyes traced her form, lingering on the white material. She didn’t know those came in adult sizes...
“You must be a star, I can't stop orbiting around you” Kelley smiled charmingly as she approached you, setting her beer on the bar beside you and settling in the seat to the left of yours.
“I do believe I was the one to buy you the drink…” you said, your lips twitching as you tried to keep a serious expression. “Shouldn’t I be the one throwing pickup lines here?”
“You bought me the drink, so I get to be the one to woo you. I’m Kelley, are you from Mars? 'cuz I wanna explore you with curiosity.” Kelley said, wiggling her eyebrows at you, enjoying the light blush coloring your cheeks.
“Oh my god,” you groaned, “that was terrible. I mean really good but absolutely awful.”
“At least I got you to smile, but you still haven’t told me your name.” Kelley laughed, taking a sip of her beer. She was prepared to lay on the horrible pick up lines for your entertainment.
“I’m Y/n,” you said, putting down your drink and holding out your hand, “pleasure.”
“They call me the milky way...Pleasure You Can't Measure,” Kelley smiled, shaking your hand as you laughed and pulling you a little closer “Why look at the moon, if I can’t touch it? Why look at your lips, if I can't kiss them,” she said, winking so you knew she was completely joking.
“How do you know so many of these?” You said, shaking your head in awe. “ All I know off the top of my head is ‘do you work for NASA? Because you’re out of this world!’”
“Ah, a magician never reveals her secrets,” Kelley whispered conspiratoryly, bringing her hand up to cover her lips. “but my team and I have definitely had flirt offs for bonding nights,”
“Your team?”
“Yeah, I play soccer for the US and Washington,” She shrugged as if it wasn’t a huge accomplishment.
Your eyes widened and you nearly spat out your drink. “Didn’t they, like, just win a World Cup?”
“Yeah, No biggie,” Kelley said, side-eyeing you as she took another sip.
“No biggie?  I’m surprised you don’t have a swarm of paparazzi shadowing you, that’s incredible! Weren’t the USWNT like the most successful US team in soccer?’
“Hm, there’s not enough drama for them, but we don’t mind. How about you? What do you do beautiful?” Kelley hummed.
“Oh. I work for NASA,” you said, gesturing at the shirt. “I can’t wait to bring some of those lines back to work.”
“What??”
****
“So do they at least give you a good choice of flavors? So you don’t get bored and stuff?” Emily asked from across the table, licking her dripping I cream cone.
When your girlfriend decided to introduce you to the team after their match against Colombia, you were quite surprised she had chosen an ice cream shop as a venue. But with how food motivated the youngins seemed, you realized how appropriate it was.
“I mean,” you said, your spoon suspended in the air as you blinked at Emily, “ice cream isn’t the only thing we will eat. I’m going to be on the station for like 8 months. Ice cream is not a balanced diet.”
“But it’s the only one they sell in the stores. You don’t have to lie cause the veggie lovers are here,” The defender said, leaning across the table, as though it would prevent the rest of the table from hearing her.
“Babe, you literally love most veggies too,” Lindsey rolled her eyes, using her thumb to wipe a spot of chocolate ice cream from Emily’s nose.
“Actually, I heard they’re a pretty good selection of dehydrated fruits and veggies and MRE’s and Tortillas and stuff. Plus I get to take a few things from home…” You mumbled, leaning back.
She couldn’t be serious right? There was no way she thought you were supposed to sustain yourself on horrible freeze-dried dairy products for that long. Not to mention, freeze-dried ‘astronaut’ products for the most part weren’t actually possible to bring to space, with how crumbly they are. You were more likely to eat actual ice cream on the space station (less chance for an errant crumb being inhaled or destroying an important piece of equipment) than that gift shop garbage.
“Oh yeah, MRE sounds way more likely than just eating the stuff they literally label as being for astronauts…” Emily said, rolling her eyes. “What does that even stand for? ‘Must reject Emily?”
You opened your mouth to answer, eyebrows furrowed, only for Kelley to nudge you softly.
“It’s not worth the fight babe, trust me. Not the brightest lighthouse if you know what I mean,” Your girlfriend made a swirling motion with her finger next to her temple.
You leaned in closer so your lips were nearly touching her ear. “She’s not serious right?”
“I never joke about ice cream,” Emily answered seriously.
You blinked at her, looking to your girlfriend who just shrugged and raised her eyebrows.
“I’m, I’m not sure if they have a flavor rotation system for ice cream flavors. We haven’t been… briefed on that yet,” you nodded seriously.
…...
“Can you hear me?” Kelley said, tapping her fingers impatiently as your face appeared in the video call.
“He- -utiful,” You smiled through the glitchy computer screen. Your waving was broken up like a bad claymation. You leaned in to make out the fuzzy figures standing behind your girlfriend, assuming she was at camp or something.
Normal long distance sucked, but literally being off-planet really made things difficult. It wasn’t like Kelley could just text you when she missed you, or randomly call you when she missed you at 3 am. Sure, she could email and you made a tremendous effort to schedule calls once a month, but it was still incredibly difficult (and slightly weird that a NASA tech dude had to monitor each call to make sure the connection stayed up). And sometimes even the best video-calling technology had issues. Like today (when a giant satellite or piece of space trash would block the signal).
“Are you hav- -un at -amp?” You asked, grabbing your floating water pouch pushing out a sip sized water drop.
“Yeah, it’s great,” Kelley said, watching you munch on your water. When you first got on the station you sent her pictures of artwork you made out of different drops of colored water- specifically making a giant water ‘soccer ball’ for her. Then you tried to boop it around and ended up losing control, amusing all your crewmates who watched you trying not to run into too many walls. “We’re looking forward to playing against Brazil on Friday, should be brutal.”
“We’re set to be ov- Florida on -day, so I’ll try and tune into the ga-. Catch a nice - view,” You nodded, wiggling your eyebrows (which looked more like you having a seizure due to how badly you were pixelated).
While Kelley wasn’t entirely sure what you were saying, she went ahead and nodded. “Let me know what you think!”
“Wh- color -it are you w-ing? Y- look -uper s-xy in the -ue,” you said, floating up in a ‘draw me like one of your french girls’ pose.
“You’re favorite one,” Kelley said, winking at you.
“-es!!” You cheered “-ake p-ture -or -“ the screen flickered dangerously for a second. Before a wobbly picture returned.
“Babe you’re breaking up, I can’t tell what you’re saying. Y/n. Are you there? UGh. I love you! We’ll talk soon.”
“-ove y- -oo”
Kelley blew a slow kiss to her camera before she heard a deep voice saying “Sorry ma’am. The connection was lost. Y’all still have five minutes on your scheduled call- Want me to try calling again? See if the signal improves?”
“Yeah,” Kelley shifted, rubbing the bridge of her nose as typing sounds echoed through the speaker. How she was going to make it through four more months of this she had no idea.
“What if like the ship was attacked by aliens or something,” Sonnett whispered from her left, staring at the blank screen with real trepidation.
“Not possible ma’am,” she heard him laugh. “But I doubt I would have the right level of security clearance to know.”
“great.”
Kelley grabbed a pen and marked a day off the calendar hanging on her wall. So much for ‘phone call with Y/n.’ She sighed. Just a few months to go.
****
Gravity fucking sucked. It was disorienting and heavy and made you sick to your stomach. Space station alums always talked about re-entry and how bad that was, but you thought sitting in a NASA hospital bed while your equilibrium readjusted was way worse than your fireball craft plummeting into the ocean.
“This fucking sucks,” You groaned, again throwing your hand over to pull out the IV. You hated how hard it was to move (and how you actually had to hold up a cup of water to get a drink but that was beside the point).
“Whoa babe, I know you’re a little out of it right now, but that has to stay in. Just try and relax for a little while,” Kelley said, grabbing your hand and kissing the back of your knuckles.
You frowned at her through heavy-lidded eyes. “Don’t wanna be here. Wanna be home with you.”
“I know, but you gotta stay here until the re-entry symptoms have worn off a little more,” She said again. She knew that you weren’t going to be 100% when you stepped out of the spacecraft, but she hadn’t expected you to be so out of it. You were sick to your stomach and entirely unable to walk without assistance.
The doctors assured her that you would be fine (residual effects from not being in gravity for so long and the impact of the landing or whatever), but it was still difficult to watch. It didn’t help that you were a horrendous patient.
“Just watch the game. The US is even in Blue,” Kelley tried to coax. Even she was beginning to grow restless. But you couldn’t leave until you could keep down solid foods.
“I don’t want to watch. You’re not in it,” You said, grabbing the remote from her and turning the television off. Then you tried to set the remote in the air, but instead of hovering like it should have done, it dropped to the ground.
“Alright, commander Y/l/n. It’s dinner time,” one of the NASA hospital nurses said, bringing in a tray for you. Kelley thanked them as they left since you were too dazed to think of it.
“God this food sucks, I hate jello ” you grumbled, lifting the spoon in front of your face (fully expecting it to float so you could take your bite) and dropping it as you want to open the pudding packet instead. “I just want a big juicy cheeseburger. With bacon and onions and-“ You trailed off, your mouth watering at the thought. You hadn’t had proper food in 8 months, and it had been your major cravings food.
“A side of diabetes” she scoffed, picking up the discarded remote and spoon, “And are you going to keep dropping things everywhere?” She asked, carefully filling a spoon with chocolate pudding and guiding it to your mouth.
“Fuck Newton. Things are supposed to float,”
****
You loved the soft skin behind Kelley’s ear. It was so smooth, and it always smelt like a mix of her perfume, shampoo, and something inherently Kelley. It was a bonus that your exploration of the area always sent a shiver down her spine. You ran your nose along the skin there, nibbling on her ear before moving down her neck. Leaving little kisses along your path. Kelley sighed, sleepily scratching your scalp and tilting her head to the side to encourage you to continue.
“You,” Kelley said. “ I like you.”
“Hm, I’m glad. It would be kinda scary if you were doing this with someone you didn’t like,” you mumbled against her skin, unwilling to part with it for even a moment. Kelley giggled at the tickling sensation. How you still had so much energy after you had thoroughly worn her out getting… reacquainted she would never know.
“But what do you like most. Tell me, babe,” You said, moving your lips a little lower, towards where her shoulder and neck met.
“I love… your ass. It’s out of this world.” She said sleepily, reaching around to grab her favorite asset of yours.
“Well, it has been,” You laughed, pulling away reluctantly so you could look her in the eyes.
“Shut up you goof,” She rolled her eyes, grabbing a pillow and whacking you lightly. You fell over dramatically, pulling her so she was on top of you.
“Hm, I’m your goof,”
“Yeah. You are. And babe?” She smiled down at you, leaning down to press a kiss to your lips.
“Hmm?” You hummed against her lips. She leaned back to look you in the eyes, one forearm across your chest and her other hand beside your head supporting her.
“No more space travel for a while?”
“Pinky promise,” You said, wiggling your hand so your littlest finger connected with hers.
“Good. I can’t believe I was dating someone from TEXAS for a while.” Kelley pretended to shudder. “Jus think, one of your coworkers might have been a Houston dash supporter!”

AOT HEADCANNON: How They Flirt
Eren:
EREN
Eren exudes confidence in every aspect of his life -some would say too much at times- except for flirting with girls
This man would have to be knocked out and jumped in order to realize he is being flirted with
I repeat: HE DOESN’T GET THE HINT
You’re walking around the local market finding food for dinner; you are feeling the veggies to check if they’re ripe then you see a beautiful, tall, long shaggy-haired brunette man looking around like a clueless puppy at the vegetable cart. He picks up different veggies, and puts them back down frustrated and shaking his head
You take it upon yourself to see if he needs help, feeling oddly bold and tap him on the shoulder
“Hey there, um… do you need help?” Eren jumps, not expecting to see someone who has such simple beauty - a refreshing face. standing behind him and you can’t help but giggle at the sight
“Oh, uh… y-yeah. I honestly don’t know what I'm doing- Sasha really wanted to make some potato soup? She gave me this list of ingredients but uh…”
You try not to show your disappointment on your face but your voice falters slightly, “Oh, is Sasha your girlfriend…?”
Eren’s eyes bug out of his head, “OH GOD! NO NO NO” he waves and crosses his arms frantically, “God no, she’s just my friend”
Your eyes light up again as your heart quickens it’s pace, “Oh, okay! Well, I'd be happy to help you if you want” Eren nods and hands you the list.
You both end up walking through the market for hours, talking, laughing, getting to know each other. Before you know it, it’s dark and the shops are closing- but you both are still sitting on nearby bench just talking
Next thing you know, you see 2 guys walk up to you both: one is on the shorter side with long blonde hair with bangs, blue eyes and a soft face, the other is taller with shorter dirty blonde hair, arms crossed and an annoyed expression
“Eren! Where were you?? We got worried we’ve been looking for you everywhere!” the blonde said, then glances over at you and both of them are shocked,
“Oh shit, sorry guys… um well this is (y/n)! She was helping me find the food for dinner and well… I guess we lost track of time.”
Both of the guys look at each other and share a smirk. You realize you should probably go even though you could stay here with him for forever, talking about everything and anything- sharing your passions and dreams of leaving this place all behind and exploring what else is out there beyond the walls.
“Well, I took up too much of your time already… I should be going. It was nice to meet you all.” you get up with your basket of food, “Bye Eren. Good luck with the soup.” you walk away slowly, your head hanging lower as you drag your feet. Damn…you really thought you had a connection.
Meanwhile, behind you the tall guy slaps Eren on the back of the head, “You idiot! You always fuck up what’s good for you. Why didn’t you invite her for dinner??”
The shorter blonde chimes in, “Eren, you do know she was flirting with you, right? She was waiting for you to make a move.”
Eren’s face paled, he can’t believe what an idiot he is…or that Jean was right!
Moments pass and you feel someone pull your hand, signaling a strange heat through your body.
“(Y/n)! Um… I had a really good time with you today… and uh…” Eren rubs the back of his neck with his eyes on the ground, “Do you want to come over for dinner?”
You smile, beaming ear to ear. not thinking- you stand on your tip toes and kiss his cheek, setting his cheeks ablaze.
You walk away, hand in hand behind his friends- not knowing this would be the start of your journey together <3

Hello again! Now that I know who you write for, I'm back with a request! Can I please suggest Sanji x Reader (if that's okay) with the following summer theme prompt? I'm actually really curious to see your take on Sanji. 😳
“some asshole left their dog in the car in the blistering heat and we both noticed and are debating on what to do” au
Thank you so much for doing this! 🥰
Hi Luxi, and thanks for bringing me my first-ever askbox fic prompt! (the prompt list is here for anyone interested)
The idea for this fic sprung into my head soon as I read the prompt, so I hope you enjoy...
"Dog Days: A Sanji x Reader Fic"
Tumblr media
You hadn't even made it halfway to the store when you noticed the dog. Not that it was hard to ignore; the poor mutt surveyed the entire parking lot from the window of a jacked-up pickup, and its baleful barks escaped the tiniest crack in the window. The day was hot enough that you were sweltering soon as you stepped outside; you couldn't imagine how bad it must be for a fuzzy dog, much less one trapped in a truck.
Soon as you heard the mutt, all plans derailed. You couldn't just leave it there, and who knew how long the owner might be gone? You racked your brain for a plan, but you had to think fast. The dog's whimpers were already getting weaker.
When you strode up to the car, someone else had the same idea. A tall blond strode up to the opposite side of the truck, eyes so narrowed they looked about to shoot lasers. The truck was large enough that it had running boards to reach the doors, but he hopped right up with a water bottle. The dog shuffled over at the sight of a human, and as the stranger dripped cool water through the crack in the windows, the dog eagerly lapped it up. Its tail still barely wagged, even that exertion too much in this heat.
"This dog can't stay in here," you said as you stared at the locks. The truck didn't have a keypad, thank goodness...and as a matter of fact, it had one of those manual locks on the inside, the sort you pulled up to unlock the car. Which would've been perfect if you weren't wearing sandals. "Hey. Weird question, but are you wearing shoes with laces right now?"
The blond looked at you through the truck window. "Yeah. Why do you ask?"
"I think I can get the truck open, but I'll need to borrow a shoelace."
You figured the guy would refuse, or at least ask questions as to why you needed his darn shoes. Instead, he hopped down from his side of the truck and ambled over to you. He was a handsome guy, now that you got a good look at him. Tasteful button-down shirt and slacks even in this weather, slick blond hair with bangs that covered half his face in a way that looked more mysterious than old-school emo...the curly eyebrow was a little odd, but in a quirky way. Made him more handsome, in an odd way. Especially when he put one foot up on the running board and unlaced his shoe, sliding the string out and handing it to you with a determined nod.
You formed a small lasso with the shoestring, then slid it into the crack in the window. All you had to do was lower it onto the lock, tighten the loop, and pull.
"You happen to be a master thief or something?" The blond asked, simultaneously curious and impressed.
"Nothing so fancy. I'm just real bad about leaving my keys in my car. Keep an eye out in case the owner comes back, okay?"
The stranger nodded and hopped back onto the running board to peer over the top of the truck. Meanwhile, the mutt inside crawled up to the front seat, curious at this new development. It thankfully seemed smart enough to recognize that it was being saved, and didn't bat at the string. Just a little more, and...there! You tightened the loop and pulled the lock up with a satisfying click.
Three things happened at once.
You pulled the door open.
The mutt leapt into your arms with such force, you fell off the running board.
And the car alarm blared with the fury of a thousand hornets.
You clutched the mutt tight to your chest and prepared to hit the pavement, but you instead fell into a pair of sturdy arms. The wind hit your face as you opened your eyes; the blond was bolting full-tilt through the parking lot with you and the dog in his grasp.
"Where's your car?" He shouted.
"Left it home! I took the bus! Where's your car?"
"I walked!" His shoes slapped against the pavement, and you belatedly realized that the shoestring had been left behind in the chaos, still looped around the lock in the still-open door of the truck. Your imagination ran wild with cops somehow tracking down your prints from the shoestring and chasing you down for kidnapping a dog.
"Are we being chased?" You asked.
"Don't know! Not looking back. But if I ever see this dog's owner, I'm kicking his ass!" The blond took a sharp turn, narrowly avoiding a collision with a gaggle of college students. "I'm taking us to my work. There's food and A/C there for the dog, and we can figure out what we're doing from there."
You couldn't think of a better plan, and you wouldn't abandon the mutt at this rate, especially as it licked your face in appreciation. So you nodded and wondered where this bizarre day would take you next.
You'd heard of the Baratie, never had a chance to eat there. Not for lack of funds or interest; it just never came up. So imagine your surprise when you found yourself at the local favorite restaurant before opening, sitting next to a mutt happily lapping up water, the blond stranger humming nearby as he cooked up a meal in the kitchen. Because when he said "get the dog food", he didn't mean ordinary dog chow, but serving up the dog a homemade feast to make up for the ordeal it had just endured.
You had no idea what the dog's name was, or if it had one at all. It had no nametag, just a cheap metal choke-chain you'd swiftly removed. The dog seemed healthy enough, but there were patches in its fur and the scrapes of a rough life outdoors. You decided that, even on the off-chance that someone chased you down for dognapping, you'd refuse to give the mutt up. It deserved a far better home than the one it came from.
Still. "I can't believe I just stole a dog with a random stranger," you said aloud.
"Well then, let's fix that," the blond said as he wandered out with a pair of plates. "I'm Sanji, and here's lunch. Can't be strangers with a name and a meal together, huh?" He set one down in front of the dog, who happily immediately dug into a feast of meat, brown rice, and assorted canine-safe veggies. The other, he set on the table in front of you. You blinked; he'd asked you off-hand questions about your food preferences when you'd arrived, but you hadn't expected him to actually cook for you too.
"I...thank you. And nice to meet you, Sanji." You gave him your name, and his entire face brightened as if it were music to his ears. "Look, this is really sweet, but I don't have a huge amount of cash on hand."
"That's fine. This is on the house, for your heroism and quick-thinking." Sanji took the seat opposite you with a soft smile. "If you hadn't come along, I don't know what I would've done. My only plan was to break the window, but that might've hurt the dog."
You took a bite of your meal. A medley of flavor danced across your tongue. "You know, reasonable folks would've...I dunno, gone inside and had customer service call over the intercom. Or called the cops. Made it someone else's problem."
Sanji shrugged. "Maybe. Think I would've stuck around anyway, saw it through to the end. Had to know if the little guy was alright." There was a softness in Sanji's eye as he looked down at the dog, who chowed down on its meal as if it had never seen food in its life. It was a look of understanding, the sort that came with a history one didn't ask about lightly. Made you curious about this handsome stranger, one who'd drop all plans and leave behind his own shoelaces in order to help someone in need.
You said, "Thank goodness for the unreasonable people of the world, then. Speaking of which...what're we going to do with the dog? I could try to smuggle it into my apartment, but the owners don't allow pets, so I'd have to be careful."
Sanji's gaze flitted up to the ceiling. "My apartment's right over the restaurant. I can keep the dog here."
"Your landlord won't mind?"
"Not if he wants to keep his best chef around. Besides, he's a sucker for underdogs. If the old owner comes back for this little guy, Zeff will toss the guy out by his ears." Sanji winked and turned to the dog. "What do you say, huh? Wanna' stay here with me? Fresh food every day and no choke-chains." The mutt barked in approval, tail wagging at full speed.
Sanji turned to you again. "You're free to visit, if you'd like. I mean, I can't take the dog out during work hours...but like, on breaks, or before we open?"
You smiled at this handsome stranger, with his heart on his sleeve and a sparkle in his eyes. You realize that yes, you'd be more than happy to see him again. "I'd love that. Besides, I'm pretty sure I owe you a new pair of shoelaces..."

I only made the call because I had no other choice. I was relieved to hear Sam's voice on the other end of the line. After all, it's been three years since I've spoken to either of the Winchester boys.
"Hello?" Sam's groggy voice caused an involuntary smile.
"Hey, Sam. It's Y/N." I heard shuffling and assumed, along with the groggy greeting, I woke him up. "Sorry for calling at..." I looked at the alarm clock, "four in the morning. Oh God, sorry, I should call back later." I apologized. I lost track of time after midnight.
"No, no. It's really great to hear from you." I could hear the surprise in his voice. "What- ah, what's going on? Is everything alright?"
I cannot deny that I've missed the brothers. In particular, the one I wanted to avoid calling at all costs. I'm not sure I could have had this conversation with him, if he would have answered the phone, that it.
"Everything's fine. Well, not completely. Listen, I'm in Denver, and there's a Demon in town. I've been here for two weeks and I can't seem to catch him. Bodies keep dropping. I've narrowed down his hunting ground, but I think I need some help here." I bit my lip, awaiting his response. I mean, come on. I was with them for five years before leaving, no phone call, text, email, or letter, then all of a sudden call and ask for help.
"Why didn't you call Dean?" Seriously? That's his response. I couldn't stop the sigh that escaped.
"You know why. Besides, he probably wouldn't pick up the phone." His grunt told me he agreed.
"Alright, tell you what. Text me what motel your staying at and I'll talk to Dean." He sounds more awake now. I hear water running and assume he's making coffee.
I couldn't hold back my shock. "Really?! That's great, thank you!" I stood from the small couch.
Sam let out a small laugh. "Yeah, no problem. We'll be there tomorrow."
"See you then." I hung up after that, hoping to finally get some sleep.
I remember that night as if it just happened. Sam, Dean, and I just finished a hunt the night before. Dean and I decided to celebrate by getting a motel room for just the two of us. Sam understood out need to be alone and assured us he would be fine by himself for the night.
"This is amazing." I mumbled, cuddling closer to Dean on the motel bed. Porky's, Dean and, coincidentally my, favorite movie was playing on the TV.
"Yeah, we haven't had time for this in months." Dean agreed, his hand rubbing my arm that laid across his torso. "Too bad we have to pack up tomorrow."
This was news to me. I didn't think there was already another case. I hoped to spend at least a few more days like this with Dean.
I sat up at looked at him "Why so soon? We just finished here." He didn't seem to notice my disappointment.
"Well, Babe, monster don't take days off." Dean said, like it was the most obvious thing in the world. "You know that. You grew up in this life, just like Sam and me."
My disappointment turned to anger. "Dean, you said it yourself, we haven't had any time to ourselves in months. We can afford to take some time off and relaxe." I stood from the bed, my tank top and jeans lay beside my feet.
"No, we really can't." Dean's raised his voice, not enough to disturbed the rooms next to us, but enough for me to realize an argument is starting.
"Five years, Dean. That's how long we've been together, and nothing's changed! It's the same thing year after year! Is this all I'm gonna get?" I was fuming. He doesn't understand that I want more than he seems to want out of our relationship.
This isn't the first time we've had this argument. But this is the first time I lay it all out.
"What are you talking about?!" Dean asked, now sitting at the edge of the bed.
"I mean, it was fun for a while. Hunting all the time together. But that's all it is now! Sure we get these little nights, but... I need more." It's the first time I've admitted to him. "Let's be honest here, we're falling apart, Dean."
Dean scoffed, clearly oblivious to the issues we've had recently. We've drifted apart, mostly due to the fact that we haven't been on the same page in a while.
"So, what? You wanna get married now?" He asked, his arms spread and an eyebrow raised. It was my turn to scoff while pulling on my jeans.
"No, smartass! I want an actual relationship with you!" I shout, pulling my tank top over my head. I sat on the edge of the bed and shoved my shows on, not bothering with socks or tying them. I was far to upset to care.
"What do you think we've been doing all this time?!" Dean yelled, putting his jeans on, knowing I'm about to leave. " What do you want from me? I got you flowers, got us a room, and took you to dinner? I don't know what else to do!" He sounded utterly desperate for answers, watching me pack my duffle bag.
"I want to feel like I'm not the only one holding us together!" I spun around as I yelled. "It's always one hunt after the other with you! I get that it's what we do, but I can't do just that anymore!" I felt the tears fall before I felt the stinging in my eyes.
Dean followed me out the door, my bag on my shoulder. I didn't even notice Sam step out from him room next to ours.
"Where are you going?" Dean's voice was slightly panicked, our fights have never gone this far before.
"Anywhere but here." I turned back to him. His glossy eyes almost too much to handle. "I love you, but I can't live this life with you anymore. I need more than this, but it seems like you don't. I'm sorry..."
Dean, shaking his head, let his tears fall freely. "Don't do this, Y/N, please." He whispered. His hand came up to cup my cheek. I grabbed it and moved away.
"Goodbye, Dean."
I never spoke to or saw either brother after that night. Walking away has been my biggest regret. But, now I have to get ready to meet them at a diner in town.
The butterflies in my stomach are raging as I parked a few spaced down from the all too familiar impala and the two bodies leaning against it. It's now or never, and though never sounds like a much better choice, I know this has to happen.
I stepped out of my car and pulled my bag over my shoulder. Sam, unsurprisingly, was the first to greet me, walking up with a large smile. Dean wouldn't look up from the ground, knowing it was me. I can't blame him, I could hardly look at him myself.
"Y/N." Sam opened his arms, a bit hesitant, not really knowing where we stood. But I walked right into his arms fully returning this much needed hug. I really did miss this. Sam was like a brother to me, and it hurt walking away from him too. "It's good to see you." He said, pulling away.
"It's good to see you too." I smiled up at him before looking over at Dean. I do my best to control my breathing, ignoring the tightening in my chest. "Both of you." I finished, hoping the green eyes would finally catch mine. Unfortunately, it was a false hope.
"We should get inside" Dean grumbled, then he began making his way to the diner entrance. I frown, pushing against the moisture threatening to gloss over my eyes.
A hand landing on the middle of my back, I looked over to Sam who gave me a sympathetic smile. "Give him time, trust me." He assured me, guiding me through the doors Dean went through.
"The Lexicon bar" I handed Sam my notes while we waited for our food. Dean still hasn't said a word to me, and even though I expected nothing more from him, it still feels like a dumbell is sitting on my chest. Dean glanced over the papers as well, so at least he's taking this seriously. That hasn't seemed to change.
Sam handed the papers back and I slid them in my bag. "OK, so what's the plan?" He asked, shooting the waiter a short nod and thanks when he sat our food in front of us. He picked up his veggie burger, while I picked at a few of my fries and Dean didn't even touch his. If this was under any other circumstance I would be shocked.
"I was thinking I play bait." Sam opened his mouth to object, but I quickly continued speaking. "You two can keep watch and catch us as we leave. All victims were found in the back ally. All female, no specific type. All victims participated in the bars open mic, starting from ten p.m. to one a.m.. I'll go one tonight while you stake out the crowd."
"How are you sure he'll choose you?" It is the first time Dean has actually acknowledged me since they got here. My palms begin to sweat any throat grew dry. I took a gulp of my drink.
"Well I don't exactly, but I do know how I could appeal to him more." I picked at my food more, avoiding eye contact.
Sam and Dean glaced at each other. "After we finish we'll go to the motel and start preping." Sam said before biting into his burger, starting off a very awkward lunch.
"There's not a day that goes by where I don't think about Dean. I messed up. I walked away and it's the biggest mistake I have ever made. Now, seeing him, it brings everything back. I never stopped loving him, and I honestly believe that I will love him for the rest of my life. After the hunt, do you think you can take my room tonight. I need to get him alone, I need to apologize. I need to at least try to get him back. I don't want him to leave without knowing how I feel." I explained to Sam as we waited for Dean to gather the rest of what we needed for the hunt. I'm wearing a knee length (color) dress, my Demon knife strapped in it holster on my thigh.
"He hasn't been the same since you left." Sam started. "You thought he was obsessed before, he's constantly seeking out hunts now." Sam sighed, leaning against Baby's passenger seat. "He won't admit it, but these three years have been absolute he'll for him. I hear him say you name in his sleep at night." He looked at the open motel room door, watching Dean assemble his gun with devil's trap bullets, just in case. "He'd still go to the ends of the earth for you." Sam has absolutely no idea how much that crushes me, but also gives me hope that Dean will hear me out.
I wiped a fallen tear from my cheek just as Dean walked out, closing the door behind him. I've noticed the looks he's given me since I've changed clothes. "Let's get this over with." Dean mumbled while taking off his jacket. He handed it to me, knowing I was getting cold in the fall weather. I stared at it on my hands for a few seconds before pulling it on. Sam was right, he does still care. Before I could thank him he was already in the car. I got in after Sam, who shot me a knowing smile. Dean started the engine and we were on our way to the Lexicon.
Once we stepped inside our plan went into motion. I gave Dean his jacket back and made my way to the open mic sign-in sheet. There was only one other person on the list so far. I put down an alias and the name of the song I was going to perform. I've been thinking about it since we got to the motel earlier. I Taylor Swift's back to December came on the alarm clock radio as I got ready in my room. I realized how insanely similar out situation is to the song lyrics and decided it would be best to portray my feelings to Dean disguised in a song. It felt like it would be easier.
Once I got back to the boys we begin to briefly go over the plan. "Okay, Dean, when open mic starts keep an eye out for anyone talking to the participants after they sing. I'm second on the list." I explained. "Sam your on stand by at the front of the alley way out front. Dean or I will send a text when it's go time." I finished, taking a drink of the water Dean bought me, remembering that I don't like drinking on the job.
"Good luck." Sam advised, patting me on the shoulder before walking out of the bar.
"So, how are you so sure the demon will target you- and why can't we just let wait to see if he walks out to the ally with some else? Dean implored, he seemed concerned cause hope to swell some more in my chest.
"Every victim sang a heart break song of some sort." I answered, avoiding eye contact. Silence falls between us for what feels like forever, although it was about a minute. "Look, can we talk after-" Dean cut me off.
"We probably should be seen talking. It needs to look like you're here alone." Dean proceeded to take a sip of his beer before nodding over to the bar. "I'll be keeping watch at the bar." He stated, turning away and leaving me to watch him walk away. The same thing I did to him three years ago.
"Next up we have Diana Troy." The bar owner announced into the mic, holding out hit hand and helping me onto the right five by seven foot stage. I've spoken to him many times using this alias for the investigation. However, I'm not surprised he doesn't remember me he tends to take his ownership of the bar for granted most nights.
I muttered out a small "thank you," before adjusting the mic stand a bit. I tried not to think of the seventy or so eyes on me as the music started.
"I'm so glad you made time to see me
How's life? Tell me, how's your family?
I haven't seen them in a while
You've been good, busier than ever
We small talk, work and the weather
Your guard is up and I know why"
I see that night replaying in my head exactly how it has almost every night since I left.
"Because the last time you saw me
Is still burned in the back of your mind
You gave me roses and I left them there to die"
I could feel Dean's eyes without even looking for them. When mine found his the power of the chorus hit me hard.
"So this is me swallowin' my pride
Standin' in front of you sayin' I'm sorry for that night
And I go back to December all the time
It turns out freedom ain't nothin' but missin' you
Wishin' I'd realized what I had when you were mine
I'd go back to December, turn around and make it alright
I go back to December all the time."
My eyes never left him until the song ended. I didn't even know I was crying until a tear fell onto my arm. As people clapped I made my way off stage and to the bar. As I was almost to the bar, some one grabbed my arm and spun me towards them. Bingo. We found out guy. Or, rather, out guy found me. Though there is no proof that he is the demon, I just knew it had to be him.
He wore a white dress shirt and black pants, his eye hung a bit loose on his neck. He looked like a working man, and had trusting, kind blue eyes. His short black hair slicked back with a little gel. He had olive skin and a lean figure. He looked harmless. It took restraint for me to not pull my knife on him now. I have to wait to get him outside.
"That was absolutely beautiful." He praised, his hand still on my arm. I sniffled, wiping away the remaining tears.
"Th-thank you." I mumbled, itching to remove his hand.
"My name's Gerard. What's your story?" The Demon asks with a charming smile. My brows furrowed at that.
"What do you mean?" I thought for a moment and decided to guess before he has time to answer. "With the song?"
'Gerard' nodded, leaning against the bar. "I don't mean to pry, but you seem really upset. I can only assume the sing meant something to you." He explained, finally removing his hand from my skin.
"I-uh..." I looked at the floor indecisive of what answer to give him. I could lie and make something up, or I could just tell him the truth. It's not like I'll see him again after tonight, so what harm could it do. "I messed up. A while ago. I left the one person I loved most in my life during a stupid argument." I took a shaky breath. "I don't think I can ever find someone who made me feel as alive as he did." I knew Dean could hear every word I said. He's standing a few feet behind us and it's not like this is a whispered conversation. I need to talk to him, so I need to speed this up. "I should just go." I moved past 'Gerard' only for him to grab my hand.
"Let me at least walk you to your car." His insisted in an innocent, concerned voice. "You never know who could be out there waiting for a vulnerable women to walk past them all alone. There are some real monsters out there" He pushed, the irony gave me chills. I nodded, letting him lead me towards the side exit. I stuck to my naive role and let his guide me without protest.
As soon as the door shut behind us, I was pushed against a wall and 'Gerard's' eyes went black. "Do I look stupid?" He glared at me. I just shrugged the best I could.
"Do you really want me to answer that?" I question with a raised brow. I didn't try to reach for my demon blade yet. I'm just waiting for the distraction.
The Demon put his hand up and made a fist. My throat tightened and my oxygen is cut off. I quickly brought my hands up to my throat, because that's what people do when they can't breath, even though it does absolutely nothing to help. I was beginning to panic until I heard someone yell.
"Let her go!" I was Dean's voice. I looked aver the the demon did and felt relief as oxygen began pouring back into my lungs. Dean's gun pointed towards the demon distracted him enough to let me go.
"Now, it that anyway to treat a lady?" Sam asks, standing next to Dean with his arms folded. I slowly pull the knife from my thigh holster and creep up behind the demon.
"Oh, so it's three humans against one demon I'm so-" I plunge the knife through his back watching it slice through to the other side. He lit up like a Christmas tree for second before going limp. I pulled the knife out and watched him fall onto his side. I quickly rolled him over and opened his shirt. There are four bullet holes in his chest surrounding the stab wound.
"How did you know?" Dean asks from above me. I look up to see him and Sam standing there and looking at the corpse.
"I had a feeling." I mumbled, I've learned to trust my guy over the many years of hunting; I tend to be right. "Let's clean this up." I muttered before helping Sam picked up the body and take it to Baby when Dean pulled up to the curb.
I slipped into the boys' room right after Sam left to get dinner. Dean glanced over, putting down the gun he was cleaning and standing from his chair. "Can we talk, please?" I stared down at the floor, my hands in my pockets.
"Did you mean it?" Dean's question caused me to look up. He must have seen the confusion in my eyes because before I could even respond he continued. "The song you chose. Did you choose it for me?"
I hesitated, swallowing the lump forming in my throat. "Yes. Just hear me out!" I was quick to stop any protests that may come out of his mouth. "I hate myself for walking out on you. It was the biggest mistake I've ever made. An-and if I could go back to that night I would have stayed. Since I left I haven't been sleeping well, I see you when I close my eyes and some night I still cry myself to sleep." I took a shaky breath, not caring to wipe my tears away.
Dean's eyes grew glossy with his own tears. "I wanted to hate you for leaving. But all I could do was hurt. People say it gets easier, but it never did for me. I've tought about you every day for three year, Y/N." His voice cracks and sobs break through my lips.
"I'm so sorry." I cried, covering my face with my hands. I was so distracted by my own pain that I couldn't here Dean making his way over to me. When I felt his arms wrap around my shoulders I just fell into him. I could tell he was crying by the way hid chest shook. I latched my arms around him tight. I never want to let go of him again.
We stood in each other's embrace for a while, feeling as thought we're the only thing keeping each other stable and upright. We we finally pulled apart we sat next to each other on the bed.
Things can't go back to the way they were, but at least now we can start picking up the pieces of one another, one day at a time. I'm never letting Dean Winchester go again.
Note- Not the best ending, I apologize , but I haven't written anything in forever, and this took me such a long time because of that.

A little help
from us students
Tumblr media
- Since Sensei Y/N joined team 7, the three students noticed that their usual teacher behaved a bit weird, weirder than normal! So they assumed that Kakashi had a little crush on their new teammate and they tried everything to help him out
Pairing: Kakashi x fem!reader
Words: 2540
Genre: fluff, a bit 16+
- a/n: This was fr so much fun to write and I‘m honestly really proud if it lmao
—————————————
„Okay, guys! We need to talk!“ Sakura sat down next to Naruto and Sasuke. The three we’re eating ramen together after their training session with Sensei Kakashi and Sensei Y/N.
„I was watching him now for a really long time and I came to the conclusion that Sensei Kakashi has a crush on Sensei Y/N!“ she said and ordered some ramen with pork.
„Hu? What do you mean, Sakura?“ Naruto asked confused and raised one of his eyebrows. Even Sasuke turned his head and started to think about it.
„Haven’t you noticed? He’s been acting really weird the last few weeks since she joined us. Well, weirder than usual.“ - „I noticed that he doesn’t read his book when she’s with us.“ - „Yeah, and when we have training with her, he’s always on time, sometimes even earlier.“ - „And when we had this fight with the rain Ninjas, he had a nose bleed after that even though he didn’t got hit.“
„But when I think about it, Y/N likes him too, in my opinion.“ Naruto said and put his chopsticks down. „She’s always with him! Since she joined us, you barely see them alone.“
„They even do personal training with each other, although they are both extremely strong!“ - „And she’s always laughing at his jokes!“
„I remember Sensei Guy eyeing them and he made some weird facial expressions towards Kakashi when we met him.“ Sasuke laughed and drank the left over soup.
„Thats it! It’s obviously that they like each other! Everyone notices that but not themselves.“
„We could help them out a little bit? I think they are pretty cute together and Sensei Kakashi just needs a girlfriend. Maybe he will stop reading these weird books!“ Sakura suggested and looked at her teammates. They all agreed on doing that and started to make some plans on how to get them together.
-Plan 1-
It was a casual trainings day and everyone did their own personal exercises. Sensei Kakashi and you were watching over the three, gave them tips and helped them out. Everything was normal and you all minded your own business.
Naruto was standing on a tree he just walked up with chakra in his feet. „Y/N! Look I made it!“ he screamed over to you and you just threw a thumbs up at him.
„Good Job! Now try to walk down again!“
That was the signal for the first plan they came up with. Now it’s was Narutos job to bring you up on the tree. „Uhm, Y/N Sensei! Can you please help me a bit? I‘m scared that I fall.“ he screamed down to you and tried to make a nervous face.
„I think you should try it on your own Naruto! I believe in you!“ - „But I‘m scared that I fall on my face! You probably don’t want me to get into the hospital, do you?“
Annoyed you rolled your eyes and walked up on that tree to the student. He simply thanked you and then made his first step downwards. „See? You can do it! You have nothing to worry about.“
Naruto casually walked down the tree and looked over to Sakura and Sasuke. The girl was training to put a certain amount of chacra in her Kunias with which she simply can hurt her enemies and paralyze them, a special technique she wanted to learn from Sensei Y/N.
You were about to walk the tree down as well right after Naruto. Kakashi was sitting on the ground and watching you doing this simple task.
Sakura was about to throw one of the chacra knives at a dummy but suddenly Sasuke screamed her name. Of course, this was all planed and the little girl stopped paying attention to where she was throwing the knife and looked over to her teammate. Sakura threw the kunai ”accidentally“ in your direction and managed to hit both of your ankles.
Since this technique caused paralyzed body parts and prevented the chacra flow in some certain areas, both of your feet turned numb and you weren’t able to concentrate chacra to walk down the tree. Slowly your feet started to slide and you fell. With a scream you expected to hit the hard ground and break your bones but this didn’t happen.
You fell into two strong arms which catched you bridal style in the right moment. Immediately your cheeks turned bright red and you tried to avoid eye contact with Kakashi, who catched you. He just stood there and smiled slightly. „Th-,Thank you.“ you stuttered and covered your eyes with your arm.
Kakashi looked down at you and scanned your facial features. Once again he noticed how pretty and cute you were. Slowly he sat you down to check your ankles.
„Oh my god! I‘m so sorry, Sensei Y/N! I‘m so sorry, it’s all my fault!“ Sakura tried to make it look like an accident and apologized immediately. Sasuke and Naruto gave each other a secret high five and then walked up to their teachers with a faked concerned look.
„Dont worry! At least you got it right. It’s wasn’t a big amount of chacra anyways.“ you said and tried to brush it off.
„Next time you better pay attention to where are you throwing your kunai!“ Kakashi warned her and then slightly touched the cut on your feet. The bandage, which was tied around your ankles, was covered in blood and a slight cut was visible. „Does it hurt? Can you move them?“ he asked and put one of his hands on your thigh.
„I can’t feel anything in them, they are numb.“ you answered and massaged the bridge of your nose.
„Kakashi, I think you have to carry her to the hospital when she can’t walk!“ - „Yeah, I guess I have to do that!“ Both of you just looked at each other and blushed. Carefully he placed one arm under your knees and the other on your back. His left hand rested on your hip and pulled you close.
They probably would never admit it but they secretly liked it how close they were to each other. The physical contact wasn’t uncomfortable, more like the opposite and they enyojed each others touch.
-Plan 2-
A week later your ankles were completely healed and you could move them normally again. Now it was time for their second plan, which was well, less painful.
The friends noticed that Kakashi visited you almost every day and brought you flowers. When you got released it was time for the second part.
You five were walking trough the village and talked to each other. „Uhm, Sensei Y/N! We wanted to invite you for dinner as an apologize and we will pay, together.“ Sakura said shyly and hit Naruto slightly in the side. He just nodded and agreed to what she said.
„You don’t have to. It’s okay“ you simply answered and smiled. „We won’t take a no! And we are already here.“ Sasuke threw in and walked towards the restaurant.
It was their favorite ramen noodle shop and Sasuke hold up the sheet for the others. „Hmm, when we are already here.“
Quickly the three picked their seats and made a gap for their senseis so they had to sit next to each other. Normally you sat down and put your hands on the table.
The nice lady took your order and then they started to make your food. As always you ordered ramen with lots of veggies and your favorite drink.
„Do you know what our next mission is going to be? Hopefully something cool, I wanna see Sensei Y/N fighting again!“ Naruto laughed and looked over to Kakashi. Naruto sat besides you and Sasuke sat next to Kakashi.
„Yeah, she is really good, right Kaksahi? The way she does her genjutsu is amazing.“ Sakura mentioned and smiled at their Senseis.
„Hu? Uhm, yeah! I-, I also think your fighting skill is pretty good. It’s, uhm, nice to watch you.“ Kakashi stuttered and tried to hide that he was blushing.
Finally the soup was ready to eat and you all started seating silently. Suddenly Naruto reached over to Sasuke with the intention to get a towel to clean his face.
Accidentally he managed to push against your arm and make you spill your drink all over yourself. Now your shirt and pants were soaking wet and it felt disgusting.
„Oh my god! I‘m sorry Sensei Y/N! I‘m so sorry!“ he started to apologize and looked shocked at you. Sasuke and Sakura gave each other a little high five and just giggled a bit.
Annoyed you looked at your student and then at your wet disgusting clothes. „It’s okay, just be careful next time!“ You tried to brush it off.
Kakashi asked the nice Lady for a towel and she gave it to him. „Wait, let me help you.“ he said and started to gently pet the towel on your wet clothes to dry them a bit.
Carefully he pat it on your torso and on your boobs. You didn’t even realized it at first what he did because you just thanked him for helping you but after a while you noticed the gentle touches. Your face turned bright red and you tried to cover it with your hands. „Th-, thank you!“ you stuttered and looked away. „This is so embarrassing.“
„I can give you my jacket!“ he offered and immediately took it off, although you haven’t answered yet. Now he just sat there with a tshirt and his mask. Slightly he threw it over you and closed it for you. Again you thanked him quietly and smiled.
His jacket smelled good. It smelled like him. Not what you expected, even better what you expected. He smelt like the forest after a rainy day and a hint of wet dog. Maybe he had washed his dogs while wearing it.
-Plan 3-
Your team planned instead of training to do a day off and just hang out and spend some time together. And the tree students had the idea to relax a bit and go to the public bath together.
„You are really exited, aren’t you?“ you giggled because the three rushed immediately into the building. Together you and Kakashi paid for their bath and said „see you later“ to each other since the bathes were separated into men and women sections.
While humming a little melody, you took off your clothes and wrapped a towel around your body. After that you went outside and made your way to the hot bath. You didnt even look in which part you went because you knew the women bath was right and the men bath was left. Suddenly Sasuke stopped you.
This was their third plan.
„Uhm, Y/N Sensei, this is the men bath you are walking in!“ he said and pointed towards the sign. A little figure which looks like a boy was on it. „I think they changed it, I almost walked into the girls bath.“
„Oh! Thank you, Sasuke.“ you smiled and looked at the sign again. Weird, you thought but went through the other door.
Little did you know that they changed the signs before you could walk in. Kakashi went into the right bath and then they changed it. Exited the looked trough a little hole to see what happens.
„If this doesn’t work, than they are both too stupid. A better plan doesn’t exist“ naruto laughed.
Unbothered you walked into the bath, dropped your towel halfway through and threw it over a stone. Slowly you walked into the water and let your body react to the hot steamy atmosphere around you. The hot water hugged your body and relaxed you sat down and finally closed your eyes.
After a while you opened them again and looked around. Where is Sakura?
Quietly you heard a embarrassed male voice which cleared his throat. „Uhm, Y/N, I think you are in the wrong bath room.“ he said calmly and slightly smiled at you amused.
„Oh, fuck! Kakashi!“ you screamed and pulled your legs closer to hide your body. Why does this always happen to you?
„Don’t worry, I haven’t seen anything.“ he said and tried to avoid eye contact with you. His hair was down and he didn’t wear his mask. That was probably the first time you saw his full face and, and he was beautiful and hot. You have fantasized about how he looks several times and this just topped your expectations. He was really attractive.
„But, but even Sasuke told me that I have to go in here.“ you whined and tried to hide your bright red face in your knees. This was so embarrassing!
„Dont worry, it’s not like that I don’t know how a female body looks.“ he giggled and slowly swum into your direction. With distance he placed himself next to you and quickly scanned your body.
You were beautiful in his opinion. Your skin looked so soft and the little rolls your stomach formed, were adorable. The wet hair and your blushed skin caused him to not taking his eyes from you.
„You don’t have to hide your body.“ he calmly said and grabbed your chin to make you look into his face. „I-, I think you are really pretty, Y/N. And I’ve liked you since the first day you joined us.“
„You, you really do?“ you asked and looked into his blushed face. Slightly he nodded and then started to pull your face closer to his.
Finally it’s happening.
At first he gave you a gentle kiss, just a little one to make sure you were into it. After that he smiled and pulled you closer again. This kiss was way more exiting and got heated pretty quickly. Slowly he placed his hand on your waist right under your boobs.
After a minute you pulled away and you smiled but immediately started to laugh at him. „Kakashi, you got a nose bleed!“ - „Oh shit! It’s quite a long time ago since I kissed someone.“ he giggled and tried to make it stop.
~Time skip~
After you two spent sometime together in the bath and talked about the last few things that happened you went outside to face your students.
„Okay! First of all, that was evil and very inappropriate! We are really disappointed and you three will get cleaning duty!“ Kakashi said and looked down at his students.
„We‘ve noticed that you three were acting really weird in the last few weeks and now you have to tell us. Of course it wasn’t an accident that Naruto pushed me and Sakura "accidentally" threw her knives at me! Explain!“ you wanted to know angrily and crossed your arms in from if your chest.
The three looked at each other and then finally they explained everything to you. „We noticed that Kakashi might has a crush on you Y/N Sensei! And, and we know that he is, well, a bit stupid when it comes to girls and love in general.“ Sakura started to tell the story. „And so we decided to help you a bit with that and made these plans.“
„And we guess it worked out, right?“ Naruto smirked.

words: 1.5k
summary: you take atsumu with you on a shopping trip. chaos ensues.
Tumblr media
It probably would have been a smarter choice to pick a day when the supermarket was less busy, but the fridge was almost empty and in dire need of replenishing. Today marks Day 3 of you and Atsumu’s new diet, one that he needs since he’s starting an intense conditioning regimen. You decided to participate as well in order to support him, and to get into the habit of eating healthier yourself.
You leave Atsumu’s side to take a basket, but he beats you to it, wheeling out a shopping cart instead. You tilt your head in puzzlement. “Atsumu, we’re not going to buy that much food, we’ll never finish it all.” He takes your wrist in one hand and starts steering the cart with the other. “You’ll see”
You stop at the fresh produce section, tossing an assortment of fruit and veggies in your trolley as Atsumu perks up beside you, getting an idea. “____, let’s get steak today so I can cook for you.” You raise an eyebrow, skeptical of his abilities. And for good reason. “‘Tsumu, you tried to make me breakfast two weeks ago and I don’t think those eggs were even edible.” He puts a hand on his hip and fakes a pout. “Babe, have some faith in me. ‘Samu might be the chef of the family, but trust me on this, I promise I’m not going to poison you.” Despite still being slightly suspicious, you decide not to question him.
You grab a few salad kits for good measure then pull out your phone to tick off your grocery list. “Bread, check, energy bars, check, produce, check, salad mix, check…okay, I think all that’s left is meat and dairy, let’s go get your steak.” You glance up when he didn’t answer. “‘Tsumu?” Your boyfriend has disappeared and so has the grocery cart.
You look for him in the meat aisle. Nothing. You look in the next aisle. Nothing. You’re about to send him a text when you suddenly feel a pair of hands seize you by waist, taking you away from the secure ground beneath your feet. Your life flashes before your eyes. Headlines of “Missing person, last seen at XX Mart” fills your mind. No way is this happening right now. I am NOT getting abducted in broad daylight, in the middle of a crowded grocery store! I have to get help; I can’t go down without a fight.
You yelp while struggling in the hold of your attacker, furiously kicking at empty space. You see an old woman a little farther down the aisle. There’s hope. “Help! Somebod- ” you shriek in panic before a hand comes up to muffle your words. “____! Chill out, it’s me!” You still at the sound of your boyfriend. Too late. The elderly woman approaches you, swinging her cane and nearly whacks Atsumu in the shoulder. “Ma’am, ma’am! This is a misunderstanding, I’m her boyfriend,” he explains, fending her off. She slowly withdraws her cane and stares at you. “Is that true?” You meet her eyes, then mumble an affirmation, ducking your head shamefully. “Young women nowadays… back in my youth, I never would have dared to cause such a scene,” she tsks, glaring at you disapprovingly before she walks away. Oops.
Atsumu sets you down, eyeing you with furrowed brows. “____. Bro, what the fuck?” You can only smile sheepishly. “Sorry that I freaked out on you. I thought I was about to fall victim to human trafficking. But you know how scared I get when my mom sends me articles about girls getting kidnapped,” you point out, attempting to defend yourself. He sighs and pinches the bridge of his nose. “I told you before, nothing will happen when you’re with me. Did you forget who you were? You’re ____, Miya Atsumu’s girl, and no one gets to mess with you.”
You instantly soften at his words but puff your cheeks out afterwards. “Hmph, well something could have happened just now, and it’d be all your fault for leaving me,” you accuse, pretending to sulk. He gestures at the security cameras. “There are cameras everywhere, not to mention this whole place is crawling with people. Besides, even if something were to happen, I would come for you. No one can touch Miya Atsumu’s girlfriend and get away with it.” He taps the handle of the cart. “Anyways, get in. This is why I insisted on taking this thing.”
“ You’re not serious. We’re too old for this, we can’t be doing things like riding shopping carts,” you reasoned. He rolls his eyes. “Bullshit, me and ‘Samu used to do this a lot and still do sometimes. And don’t lie to me, I know you want to, so get in before people come into aisle.” You bite your lip. He was right, so you don’t protest when he picks you up again and places you inside with your legs over the front. “Hold on tight.”
He puts one foot on the metal bar and pushes off the ground with the other, then hops on, propelling you forward, riding off the momentum. You clutch at the sides of the cart, feeling the air whip at your face, wind running through your hair. The two of you laugh in glee like children.
All was well until a woman’s back comes into view. Your eyes widen. “Baby, stop, we’re going to hit her!” He curses and immediately steps down, reducing the speed until the wheels squeak to a stop, just in time. You turn towards him to scold him. “I knew this was a bad idea; that was so dangerous! We could have hit this lady or even gotten hurt ourselves trying to avoid her!”
“Very fortunate that you didn’t, Miss ____,” says a voice. A very familiar voice. You twist your body back around, looking directly into the stern eyes of your manager. You take a moment, becoming conscious of your current state: hair disheveled, clothes in disarray, legs dangling over the edge of a shopping cart to top it all off. Is there a worse way to encounter your boss outside of work? You hastily straighten up. Well, straighten up the best you could in the situation. You smile nervously. “Ms. Wright! Wow, hi! What a coincidence seeing you here!” You notice a young man standing beside her. “Oh, I didn’t know you had a son. He’s really handsome, you must be proud,” you added. She purses her lips, clearly displeased. “Actually, Miss ____, he’s not my son, he’s my boyfriend. We have a busy agenda today. If there’s nothing else, I’ll see you at work on Monday.”
Your face turns white as you process what just happened. The atmosphere is silent. Atsumu starts to push the cart, waiting until you make it to another aisle before bursting into laughter. “Miya! That was so not funny. I can’t believe that happened. First, she sees me in this state. Then, I mistake her boyfriend for her son? I even called him handsome! Oh my god, it’s really over for me.”
“Calm down, she said to see you at work, it’s fine. Plus, it’s not your fault you didn’t know she was a cougar. That sugar baby must be living the lif- ” You gasp and reach up to cover his mouth before he says anything else. “Shush, Atsumu! What if she’s still around? Yeah, I’m definitely going to see her on Monday…so she can fire me!” you groan. “Just get me out of this stupid cart so we can finish buying what we need, I just want to go home so I can curl up and scream into the blankets.” He smirks. “Oh, you want to scream in bed? No problem, leave that to me.” You slap his arm, and he feigns hurt.
While at the cash register, you realize that you forgot a few items. “Shit, ‘Tsumu, I forgot the butter and yoghurt. Can you quickly go grab those?” He nods. “Wait here, I’ll be fast.” A couple minutes pass and you grow worried, watching the employee scan the last of your groceries.
You finally see your boyfriend return with his arms full. Except, what he’s carrying are massive pints of ice cream. You cross your arms. “Atsumu. What did I just say? This doesn’t look like butter and yoghurt.”
He peers at you with puppy eyes. “Babe, you can’t blame me. They were calling out to me and begging to be picked up! Besides, I got both your favourite flavour and mine. We need this for movie night.”
“What about the diet?”
“It’s not a big deal. Also, you seem like you need this after what happened. And I feel like I might have been responsible for some of it. Just a bit.”
You sigh and pay for the ice cream. He’s got a point. Guess you’ll have to make another trip to the store tomorrow.

The life of You
[AO3]
Tumblr media
“I’m sorry! My brain was everywhere this week I should have update this earlier! But certain Adeptus took all of my attention...”
Words: 3525
Not sure how long has passed but when you woke up you could feel a ticklish feeling on cheeks. Kaeya's head was hung down, snuggled close to you. His uncovered eye was closed shut, breathes were even and his arms were firmly wrapped around your waist. How can he sleep like this?
Before you could stop your hand it hesitantly reached towards the male's face. Gently brushing against his skin with your fingertips. It surprised you when he snuggled against your hand. Thinking he was asleep, how naive you are? This man is a light sleeper and good actor at once. He was probably awake even before your hand mindlessly shot up to his cheeks.
"I could get used to being woken up like this.~" Whispering while still having closed eye.
"How comes you are all flirty even after just waking up..." Remarking and retreating your hand. Hearing a disappointed sigh coming out of the male's lips
The rain has stopped, freeing yourself out of Kaeya's arms. Feeling how your clothes are still uncomfortably wet. Not as before but it was far from dry. He helped you to pack up things and then you headed back to the city. You two joked about how it would be funny if you would actually end up sick. You had proudly announced it’s impossible for you to get sick. It’s been a while after all.
Well how it always goes. When one's boasting about something too much, it gets back to them. And of course you got sick. Feeling horribly and unable to get out of bed. You quickly ran out of stocked food and since your cooking skills are miserable... Well even if you could cook there's no way you would be able to stand up and make something.
Maybe it's time to bother neighbors if they could fetch you some food but even that seemed like too much work. Laying on the sofa, listening to your protesting belly. Perhaps if you fall asleep it will stop making noises.
As much as sleeping with an empty stomach proved to be difficult. You managed to fall asleep, only to be woken up by knocking at the door. 'Archons, I can't- no I don't want to move...'
The knocking didn't stop and instead got more loud. It must be really urgent. Forcing yourself to get up, slowly reaching the front door. Using walls as support. Not even bothering to look through the peephole and open the door.
It took you several seconds to realize who you were looking at. Normally you would give him a smile but in your current state all you could manage was a silent groan. Expecting some earful remark but instead the scarlet haired man pushed the door open and slid inside.
Noticing he carried bags, you could smell something yummy. Eyes going up to meet up with his crimson ones. What's that look of his? Is it worry? Considering how Diluc usually behaves, you would have expected he would be angry at you. Clearly remembering that one day when it was colder and he met you wearing just light clothes. He gave you a long lecture and made you go home to fetch something more warm.
"H-Hey... what's with that look?" You coughed, nearly losing balance. Feeling a pair of firm hands supporting you. "M-My hero..." Murmuring before leaning against the tall man. You had long forgotten how it does feel to be sick.
You had no strength to protest or say anything when he moved your hands around his neck, securing his grip on your thighs and carried you. If you were not so busy with feeling 'I'm dying' you would have probably paid more attention to butterflies in your stomach. This way you just blamed it on hunger than anything else.
Diluc laid you back on the sofa, as gently as he could. If he was not sick worried about your well being he would probably scold you on the spot. When he heard from your landlord you fell ill he was not so worried at first. But giving it a second thought. He decided to pay a visit, now being glad he did so. Even more glad for being mindful and fetching some food and meds.
Something was telling him it will come handy. Little did he know his friend is irresponsible enough to not have any kinds of meds at home at all.
Not even painkillers?! One thing was sure, he will have to have a word with you later. For now he will just try to get you to feel better. Moving a spoon with syrup towards your mouth, ‘say: aah'. It felt like taking care of a kid more than an adult.
He didn’t need to check your forehead to know about the fever. Giving you a cold cloth over it. Hearing your little whine about it being too cold. When he was about to turn away your hand gripped on his coat.
"Diluc... I'm hungry..."
"Just wait a bit." He said, gently releasing from the grip.
Moving to the kitchen, looking around a bit and searching for needed stuff. Being aware of how you can barely cook, burning even the easiest things. He put his coat away, rolling up sleeves and getting rid of his gloves.
First he chopped veggies then sliced meat into tiny pieces. Being mindful you might have a sore throat and not being able to gulp too well. It's been a while since he cooked, however that meant nothing as he was quickly creating yummy magic in the pot. Stirring it every now and then.
The kitchen was quickly filled with the pleasant smell of chicken soup. Meanwhile he was waiting for it to be done. He made a lot of tea and some small snack. He planned to drop by later again to check on you and probably bring more food. By looking at you, he knew you would be laying down for a couple of days.
By the time when the soup was done he already made you drink a cup of tea and eat a part of an orange and banana. Your eyes were sparkling when he brought two bowls and placed one right in front of you on the coffee table. He was glad to see you have appetite, that's a good thing.
Giving it a try, despite your taste buds being sleepy. You could feel the intense chicken flavor complimented with a gentle and sweet carrot aftertaste. Eating was probably the most happiest moment of the whole day. It was good, and made you feel warm and full.
When you were done with the bowl, pleading eyes looking at the chef who was just half way through his own portion. He noticed your gaze, looking at the bowl. You didn't need to say it out loud for him to get the message.
As you were going through your second bowl he noticed your face is getting more color into it. Feeling a bit relieved but keeping his stoic expression. For some reason he was doubting his cooking abilities. He knew you wouldn’t say anything as you were hungry and all but still. That little uneasiness was there, trying to get under his skin.
Once you were done with food, having a happy and full belly. Leaning back on the sofa, feeling a bit better. Not sure if it's because of the meds he gave you or because of the food. Probably both. You let out a satisfied sigh.
"You are truly my hero, Diluc." Whispering as you patted your belly. "I didn't know you could cook."
"What's wrong about it? I might have maids but I can cook just fine, only if I had more time for it." He retorted before disappearing into the kitchen and bringing a small platter with cut fruits and more tea.
You were touched. Was he doing all of this just for you? Really?! You didn't know how much he could be caring. Yes he always seemed to be concerned whenever you showed up with some scratch or something. But this was a whole different level of caring.
Your heart skipped a beat when he reached to your forehead.
"You are still burning."
"Uh, huh?"
Not sure if you were burning because of being sick or because of his sudden touch. Averting your eyes and laying down. Feeling a bit confused why your body was reacting the way it was.
"Here." Giving you fresh cloth over your forehead.
"T-Thanks..."
Diluc hummed in response before retreating to the kitchen to fetch his clothing. He still has to take care of a few things. Before he left you called out to him.
"I will drop by later on in case you are worried I'd let you starve." Clarifying as he was adjusting his gloves.
"That's not it... I wanted to say thank you. I appreciate what you did, really."
He did not think of it that much. For him it was just a simple worry about somebody who's close to him. He'd be rather if you could spend your sickness at his manor as there is always somebody who could check on you. However in your state it’s better to stay where you are.
"Oh, Diluc! I guess you could take my spare keys... in case I faint so you can find me, heh."
It was a good sign as your humor was coming back a little. Although he would have preferred not to find you unconscious or something else. Still taking your spare keys felt a little too personal, glancing at you.
"Are you sure about it?"
"Ah, c'mon. If you were somebody else I'd reconsider it but I trust you. Besides, I was thinking of giving you spare keys before. It's not a big deal."
Letting out a sigh. He still does not feel right about it but coming to the conclusion it will be better if you just stay in bed. Also in case you will be sleeping he could just quickly leave food here and disappear again.
"Alright then. Where are they?"
"They are in- uh. Kitchen, first drawer. I hid them under cutlery."
Strange place where to hide spare keys but part of him was glad it had been the kitchen and not your bedroom. Not sure if he would have dared to venture in there. As much as you two know each other he has some boundaries and privacy respecting.
After he secured the keys he took his leave. Leaving you alone. You wanted to sleep but at the same time your brain was replaying last hour. It was somehow hard to believe somebody came to rescue. He literally came here just to cook and give you meds. And did not ask for anything in return.
This was the first time when somebody did it for you. It was a new thing to you. And the warm feeling inside, what is it? You were used to your assistant being worried, bringing some tea. But in fact you never were sick that much to end up in bed. Unable to get up or take care of yourself. It was usually just some minor cold which faded after two or three days of resting.
Diluc was dropping by for the next few days, sometimes staying for a while to exchange a few words, sometimes he just left food in the kitchen and left. It was mostly because of his schedule.
You felt a bit bad for him for making time specially for your needs. When you tried to bring it up and tell him it's fine, that you feel much better now. He gave you a lecture about how it would be more than irresponsible to roam in streets while being ill.
Also adding remarks on how stupid idea it was to hang out with Kaeya. When he first heard what was the cause of you falling ill he wanted to go after the said man. But you grabbed his hand, convincing him it was not Kaeya's fault. Like how was he supposed to know it will be raining? Which Diluc retorted with 'You could have hid somewhere before getting wet.'
You wanted to try and explain it more in detail but he didn’t care. Anything related to Kaeya was always making him at least annoyed. He refused to talk about him. Diluc let out a defeated sigh. He was tired to reason with you about it. Leaving it at remark "the knights are irresponsible as always, including their Captain..."
You deadpanned.
"Here we go again."
"What. You can't deny it."
Rather not answering that and just cuddling into your fuzzy blanket. Feeling much better than before. Fevers were gone and you could move around the apartment without feeling like you will die at any second.
He got quite used to just opening the door and entering like it was something he did for years. His first uneasiness tied to intruding his friend's place was gone. Perhaps he should have stayed more cautious for a bit as one day he came in and couldn't find you.
He ran into you as you just got out of shower. Probably both of you had a heart attack, he quickly turned away and murmured an apology. You also felt guilty, you could have got dressed in the bathroom, not to walk around just in a towel. Answering him with a little apology and asking if he could wait for you in the living room.
As you felt good enough to take a shower, you didn’t expect Diluc would come at this hour! Usually he dropped by around lunch or before dinner. There was no need for him to come twice a day.
Your fridge was filled with home made dishes tweaked to you likings. You really didn't know why he cared so much, why he troubled himself to cook for you. Maybe you should take some cooking classes once you are fit again. Just for the sake of not making your friends worried in future.
Now when you were dry and in fresh clothes, feeling more like a human. You could face Diluc who was just staring at the coffee table. Coughing to get his attention, exchanging embarrassed looks. And just like that you promised to each other to not talk about it.
Being glad it was just him who saw you. You were sure if it was somebody else he wouldn't let you be and tease about it for several days.
"So, what's new? Also fancy to have some tea or you gonna swoosh away?"
"If I were to swoosh, I wouldn't be here now. I have time. Also I brought you some fresh grapes, you need vitamins."
Giggling at the way he repeated the swoosh. Waltzing into the kitchen and putting the kettle on the stove. Finding it funny how the stove lately was used much more and it was only because of your friend cooking on it. You rarely used it, mostly to boil water or heat up some quick made food you bought at the market.
Checking the fridge and seeing a quite bountiful amount of grapes. When he said some you expected like one twig not three.
"Um, Diluc? Those grapes are from your... won't you miss them?"
You shouted at him while your head was still partially stuck in the fridge, plucking a few pieces.
"Do you really think this little will affect the wine production? Besides those wouldn't be used for wine."
You peeked into the living room mouth filled with several grapes.
"So you gave me some bad ones I see."
"No, it's not like that. You know we grow separate grapes for selling."
"I know. I'm joking, thanks by the way." Returning back to the kitchen as the water was boiling already.
A bit later you brought two cups of steaming tea and somehow managed to balance a plate with grapes on one of the cups. Diluc raised an eyebrow at you.
"You wouldn't die from going there again, you know."
"Ah yes, the Diluc I know is back. How about you compliment my uh... waitress skills instead of being sarcastic, hmm?"
Moving the plate closer if he wants but he just shakes his head. He brought it for you after all. Observing how you were happily stuffing your face with the fruit.
"You asked about the news. Your new sword is finished."
"A new sword? Since when I- DILUC?!" You had issues not to spit in surprise. Grapes on Diluc’s face was the last thing you wanted to see.
"What? The sooner it's done the sooner you can use it to keep yourself safe."
How can he say it so casually. Like it’s nothing?! You were staring at Diluc in horror. 'Please tell me you didn't pay for it too...' You already felt bad and paying for a sword was not a joke. Weapons are expensive, especially the sturdier ones.
"S-So... how much do I owe?"
"A promise you will look after yourself."
"YOU CAN'T BE SERIOUS! IT'S EXPENSIVE!"
Diluc smugged at you. That damn smug was somehow fitting to him but that’s not the point. He paid for your sword?!
"Well how about this. Consider it as a gift. I still didn't give you anything to welcome you back despite you being here for a while now."
"But you don't have to give me anything! You already did enough with letting me sleep under your roof for a while and now you have been nursing me."
You couldn't resist the urge to massage your temples. "You better forget about my birthday and Christmas existence, you hear me."
Why was everyone giving you welcome back gifts?! The mugs you drink tea from are from Lisa. The bathrobe which was currently in the laundry basket was from Jean. Then there's Kaeya and his sleepover. Well the Darknight Hero was topping all of these in terms of price.
You were pondering over if this was his way to flex over a certain cryo user. Rather not asking him that out loud and changing topic.
"How's business? Last time you said you were rushing to a meeting or something like that."
"Not really meeting. Somebody was hosting a celebration and wanted a few barrels."
"Barrels..." You repeat mindlessly while Diluc drinks from his mug.
Your eyes lingered at his face for too long. He is really handsome, no wonder the girl from florists has hearts in her eyes whenever he passes by. His face is perfectly decorated with the loose hair which couldn't fit into his pony tail as they were too short.
"Why don't you tie up your hair higher more often?"
It escaped your lips before you could stop yourself. Realizing what you had said out loud. Inner panic was taking over you. Just why did you say that?! If you could you would jump behind the sofa and hide away from his surprised gaze. This feeling is mortifying.
"You think I should?" He asked with tilted head to the side.
"Um, forget about it. It was just a slip of tongue. Uh.. Any other news?"
You have to quickly change the subject. Diluc's gaze was killing you, you could swear your cheeks were slowly turning into the same color as his hair. In panic you pulled the blanket next to you over yourself. Diluc was just winking as he was confused with what his friend was doing. Clearing his throat.
"There's nothing much new. Well other than Aether will leave in a few days."
Peeking out of your cover. "Huh? Where to?"
"Liyue. There will be soon a rite of descension am I right?"
You hummed in response.
"I wonder. Where could his sister be? Also do you think once he finds her he will visit us before leaving to their world?" More than a question it was a slight worry. You weren’t sure about the boy’s plans, nor wanted to feel him like he is obliged to do something. He came here to search for his sister anyway.
Diluc sips from his cup again. "Probably."
"Mhhh, I suppose I could tag along. I'm sure he'd welcome a guide." Pondering over it for a while until you noticed Diluc’s gaze.
"What? I'm feeling fine. Thanks to your care. Besides, I have a feeling Mrs. Yue would like me to attend. Last year was so hectic and previous ones I was too busy. I mean... I'm a little eager to see it. So far I have only seen it once and it was just part way..."
Diluc couldn't say anything about it as he knew about the policy between you and the assistant. From what he heard people in Liyue tend to follow traditions and you look well. Probably you will be ready for the travel.
"I see. I guess I should give you back the keys."
"Keep them- in case of emergency. Or~ in case I adopt some adorable street cat and I will need you to feed it in my absence."
Grunting in disapproval. As if he didn't have enough keys already…

                                          --------------------------
“You actually showed up.”
“Yeah, well, there’s nothing else to do in this town.”
Frankie leveled Pope with a falsely serious stare, then grinned as they embraced with pats to the other’s back, though they kept a bit of space between them.
This was for the little baby resting with her back against her father’s chest as she nestled in the crook of his arm, gazing up at Pope when they pulled apart with wonder at this strange face she hadn’t seen much.
You laughed at her little furrowed brow then moved to wrap an arm around Frankie, pressing a kiss to his cheek which he’d learned to politely return once he realized you greeted him and said goodbye to him in the same way every time.
The first trip you’d ever taken with Pope was to visit his best friend and you’d gotten along swimmingly with both him and his wife, and you would wager you loved them almost as much as your boyfriend did.
You decided to go on a little vacation this summer and somehow you agreed that you’d have the most fun visiting Frankie to see the baby.
He said it was his wife’s idea to throw a barbecue for you, but he kind of looked in his element with the baby in one arm as he grabbed a beer that was sitting on the side of the grill with his free hand.
“There’s some in the cooler over there if you want.” Frankie nodded to a cooler full of ice, beer, and sodas, and Pope walked over to grab one.
“I can’t believe how big she’s gotten.” You booped the little baby on the nose and wrapped your arm around Pope when he returned sipping on a beer.
“Fuck if I don’t know that. You guys’ll have to have one to remind us of how small they are.”
“Hell no.”
Pope’s quick answer was followed by a sip of beer and a smirk directed at you to let you know he was open to whatever you wanted, his palm pressing flat against the small of your back.
When Frankie’s wife walked over and you greeted her with a kiss on the cheek, the four of you talked about whatever as your boyfriend’s hand slid down your back to push into the pocket of your shorts.
He’d made it very clear when you were getting ready that morning that he enjoyed the way your ass looked, pinching it as you walked out the door then leaning over to smack it when you’d stepped out of the car.
Santi, you would reprimand him with a little whine though you really didn’t mind it.
It wasn’t like you were a stranger to slapping him on that perky ass of his right back.
You had to admit that there was something about being on vacation with him that made you a little extra horny and his fingers were massaging your ass as they stayed in your pocket and you—
“Burger or hot dog? Or we’ve got veggie versions of both.” Frankie interrupted your thoughts as he put the baby in his wife’s arms and turned to open up the grill.
“My girl likes a good foot long.” Pope grunted at the elbow playfully poking into his ribs.
Grilled foods and sides were all served up and you sat with Frankie, his wife, and some of their friends, talking about jobs, and children, and gossip, and all those other things adults seemed to exclusively talk about.
You were not paying much mind to everything they were talking about, though, because a certain man sitting in a mismatched colored folding chair next to you knew that you were friskier on vacation and was running his hand up and down your thigh.
Innocent touches strayed a little bit higher, a little bit more to the inside of your thigh, and you immediately grabbed onto his hand when his fingers brushed below the zipper of your shorts.
He smiled, leaning in to nuzzle his nose into your hair and whisper into your ear, “I know they made a cake for dessert, but I’d much rather eat your pussy right now.”
“Fuck, Santi,” you hissed, squirming in your chair.
“Why don’t you say you’re going to the bathroom and wait in the hall for me, hm?” He kissed your cheek.
You nodded; sex in any kind of public setting was something the two of you had talked about or teased about to turn each other on, usually when you were in bed, and the thought of actually fucking in someone’s house in the middle of a barbecue was definitely something that intrigued you.
You were quickly mumbling an excuse to everyone that you’d be right back, going into the cool, air conditioned house and making your way to where you’d memorized the bathroom was.
He obviously didn’t follow you right away so as not to make people suspicious, and you moved around the hallway to look at a sweet picture on the wall of the baby when she was a newborn.
Arms wrapped around your waist slowly, lips pressing down the side of your neck. “We’re not having a fuckin’ baby.”
“I didn’t say that we were!”
“Don’t go to another guy for it though, okay? I can make one.”
You laughed, turning to him and kissing him.
The first kiss was deep and needy, followed by a few other chaste kisses as he guided you into a nearby room.
“Are we about to fuck in Frankie’s bedroom?”
“No, I’m about to eat you out in Frankie’s bedroom.”
You were truly a terrible person as you moaned into yet another kiss, then he pulled away and you could see that military training in his eyes. “Take off your clothes.”
He made sure you were listening to his direction before he went around the room to draw all the curtains, being sure no one would see a glimpse of you or what you were doing as well as darkening the room.
It took a moment for both of you to adjust to the dimness, but soon he could see the silhouette of your naked body and you saw him walking towards you, fully clothed.
He found your lips almost instantly now that he could make out your features into the dark, hands grasping at your hips to firmly but gently guide you down to sit on the very edge of the foot of the bed.
“Santi, baby, your knees,” you gasped when he moved his lips away to kneel between your legs, trying to pull him back up.
“I’m fine, honey, I might not be able to run like I used to, but I can still kneel.” He took your hands off his arms to set them on the bed on either side of you, then moved to hook your legs over his shoulders.
There was no comforter on the bed seeing as it was summer in a humid state, but you gripped tight to the sheets under you as he began pressing light, teasing kisses on your inner thigh.
Your lips parted when he kissed where your thigh met your pussy and...he moved over to kiss his way down your other thigh, much to your frustrated little whine. You were sure you felt him smiling against your skin as he kissed back up.
He put his head right between your legs and kissed feather light on your folds, close but not where you wanted him, and you grabbed onto his hair to try and guide him to your clit.
He swatted your thigh, not hard enough to hurt you at all but enough to tell you that you were not supposed to be pulling him where you wanted, that he was in control and he knew exactly what was going to get you off best.
You could just barely make out his eyes in the darkness to see him glaring up at you, huffing lightly through his nose in both frustration and amusement at your impatience.
But he said nothing, leaning in and flatting his tongue against you, dragging it purposefully from your entrance to your clit.
Your hips followed the movement of his tongue, lifting up off the bed with your calves braced on his shoulders as you gave a pleasured sound between a gasp and a moan. He wrapped his arms around your thighs to yank you back down onto the mattress, repeating the motion with his tongue and pinning your squirming thighs to the bed.
He lapped at you slowly as he worked up to your clit, sucking hard on the spot and grunting softly at the sharp tug of his curls.
You were fisting his hair so tightly, your eyes closed and your mouth hanging open in the ecstasy of his wet mouth sucking and licking at your clit, quickly approaching an orgasm with how relentless he was.
When you untangled your fingers from his hair and tried to lay back on the bed, he immediately stopped what he was doing and pulled away to grab onto your hands. He pulled you back up and met your lustful eyes with his own pleased yet stern ones in the dim room. “Stay.”
You might have whined, but you made yourself stay sitting, both hands gripping onto his hair now to help with that; he started to lap long, slow licks against your clit and wrapped his arms around your thighs again.
His grip was a little bit looser now which allowed you to use him as you sought out all the pleasure he was willing to provide, and you were practically on top of him at the sensation of his tongue moving down to push into your entrance.
It was so fucking sexy to him that you were practically humping his face and he let you lean off the bed a little to brace yourself on him, moaning at your taste and positioning to make his nose nudge into your clit with each little movement of your hips.
You liked it as much as he did, enjoying partly controlling the friction on your clit matched with his tongue licking into you like he was enjoying a fine meal.
You always came pretty damn fast when Pope ate you out; there was something about the wetness and how he knew exactly what he was doing. He knew what you liked for his tongue to do on your clit, knew how to tease you into being absolutely turned on and never too much so as to frustrate you.
The man knew how to perfectly prepare you into being almost ready to cum with barely even touching you, of course he’d bring you to that glorious edge with only a few flicks of his tongue.
He knew you inside and out, too, and there was this little noise you’d make that told him it was starting to feel really good and he was putting the right amount of friction on the right spots.
Normally he’d be praising you with phrases like that’s right, baby or go on, sweetheart, I know it feels good, come for me, but with his head between your legs, he hummed against you and moved a little bit faster for you.
His unrelenting tongue made the tingling that seemed to bounce all over your cunt and thighs grow, then what you could only describe as burst.
You pressed right up against his face and were still there for a moment as your cunt squeezed, then you let out a loud moan at your muscles releasing and clenching hard.
Pope licked you through it to extend your strong orgasm as long as he could, lapping up your cum until you were twitching and gently smacking him on the head to tell him it was too much, and he laughed softly and laid his head on your thigh.
Both of you were quiet for a long moment and he knew you were to your happy, satisfied state where you were all fuzzy after an orgasm as you started stroking his hair. “Let me repay that.”
“You don’t have to. If you wanna, let’s wait until we’re back at the hotel or they’ll realize both of us aren’t using the bathroom or something.” He kissed your thigh then pulled out from under your legs, walking over to open the curtains.
The light in the room showed off your gorgeous body perched on the edge of the bed, looking like you might have been made of jello with how good you came, and he let his gaze roam over you like it was his first time seeing you naked.
He always looked at you like it was his first time seeing you naked.
A wink as your gazes met, he moved to where you undressed and bent over to pick up your favorite lacy, black underwear of his.
“Oh, shit, that sure did mess up my knees,” he groaned dramatically.
“Mhm.” Sure, you knew he was sassing you and trying to rile you up, but you were staring at that nice ass of his.
“C’mere, we can’t let you go out there like this.”
“I thought public nudity was admired.”
One thing that you so loved about Pope was that he was a capable man who could be tough with people when it was needed, but he could also be quite tender.
This showed in him allowing you to take hold of his shoulders as he helped you step into the panties and shorts he’d ‘demanded’ you take off.
You pulled on your bra and top on your own, leaning in to kiss the taste of yourself that was on his lips. “I wanna get out of here and suck that beautiful cock of yours.”
You kissed each other passionately a couple more times before you started to make your way to the back door with his hand squeezing yours tightly at the mere thought of how much you wanted to suck him off.
Frankie was the first to notice you stepping out of the house, grabbing another beer out of the cooler and cracking it open.
He looked suspicious, but he took a sip of the beer.
“You two pee together?” He quirked an eyebrow.
“The couple that pees together stays together.” Pope grinned, slapping him on the arm.
“I think that’s the grossest thing you’ve ever said to me.”
“Ya think?”
Pope looked at you to see you were looking at him both impatiently and lustfully, and he quickly looked at Frankie. “We need to get going, man, but let’s do something tomorrow.”
“I think the ladies were texting about wine or something.” The two men shared a full hug now that the baby was being entertained by somebody else, and Frankie looked at Pope in confusion when he pulled back to pat him on the cheek.
“Probablemente deberías lavar tus sábanas.” This confused him even more, but he wasn’t able to ask what he meant as he walked with you to let Frankie’s wife know you were leaving.
When you were in the car and buckling in to leave, you looked at him. “Did you tell Frankie to wash his sheets?”
Pope’s laugh told you more than enough.
You let out a laugh of your own, reaching out to shove his shoulder.
“You are so bad!” Your little shove was joking and you were pretty horny, gently rubbing up and down his bare arm.
“We’re leaving a nice, wholesome barbecue so you can suck my dick.” He started the car and glanced each way down the street as he pulled away from the curb.
The drive was comfortably silent with the radio playing some rock song softly in the background, your fingers tickling over his skin, and then his phone pinged in his pocket. “Can you see what that is, baby?”
You reached into his pocket with your hand lingering perhaps a little too far to the side, but you did pull out his phone and looked to see who texted him.
When you snorted, he glanced over at you and stopped the car at a red light to see what it said.
What the fuck did you do?! read the text from Frankie.
Pope probably cried a little too hard from laughing considering he was going to have to really make up for making his girl cum on his best friend’s sheets.

Sticky/Tricky Jar
Summary: Frankie loves to tease you, so you play a little prank on him.
Pairing: Frankie “Catfish” Morales x Reader (mentions of not being able to reach things up high and being picked up. No other physical desriptions)
Word Count: >1000
Rating/Warnings: PG. Cutesy fluff with slight allusions to adult activity. Not thoroughly proofread 🤷
Tumblr media
You always knew Frankie could be a jokester. He could be described as downright jolly when he was in the right mood. It was true that Frankie was often the quiet one of the group, preferring to sit back and observe his friends chuckling quietly to himself. He took things seriously when the time was right, often the voice of reason. When the mood struck him however he was right in the middle of everything, cracking jokes. The loud laughter in these times made his eyes crinkle around the edges and his whole body shake. It wasn’t until the two of you became an item that you realized just how deep rooted his funny bone was.
The man liked to tease you - not even speaking about the bedroom, that’s another story. He enjoyed playfully making fun of you for silly, inconsequential things. He’d purposely hide something he knew you were looking for, or pretend to eat the last of your favorite snack. He loved to put things on the top shelf or on top of the fridge, laughing as you struggled to reach. Nothing serious or hurtful. These little jokes often ended with you glaring half heartedly with your hands on your hips and rolling your eyes with a sigh.
The first time you asked him for help opening a tricky jar, you could see his eyes light up. You knew you were going to regret asking.
“Need your big strong man to help you, huh?” He gloated playfully, approaching you with an exaggerated swagger.
“Please just open the sauce, Frankie.” You groaned, holding the jar out to him. He took it in his hands, looking it over.
“This little thing? Yeah, that’ll be easy.” He bragged. You rolled your eyes as he set the jar on the counter and rubbed his hands together. He rolled his neck exaggeratedly.
“Frankie, I’m trying to finish cooking dinner-”
“Hold up, little lady,” he ignored the glare you sent him at his chosen wording, “something delicate as this needs to be precise. Years of training-”
“You can feed yourself if you’re gonna be like that. I’ll make a sandwich.” You threatened.
He finally picked up the jar, popping it open with ease.
“I loosened it for you.” You grumbled, snatching it back from him and his shit-eating grin.
It became a common occurrence, anytime you needed help opening something in the kitchen. Pickles, sauces, jam, fruit, veggies, salsa - anything that you couldn’t force open, he made a big show of coming to your rescue. You didn’t hate it, you knew it was just a joke, but you wanted to turn the joke back onto him for once.
“Frankie, can you come here?” You called through your shared house. You were in the kitchen, getting some snacks read for a movie night while Frankie got the movie ready.
“Yes, mi vida?” He smiled as he came through the arch from the living room. The term of affection and his smile still making your heart flutter after being with him so long.
“I can’t get this jar open,” you pouted, holding it out for him.
“Ah,” He smirked, his entire demeanor changing as his exaggerated macho persona came out. “My delicate little flower needs some muscle, does she?”
“Frankie,” you groaned. “Just once can you open the jar without-”
“No one blames you, honey. I work hard, getting my hands dirty and building up all these muscles so you can live your life of luxury.” He carried on, strutting through the room and flexing. You couldn’t help but laugh at his poses. You knew there was no rushing him. He would open the jar when he was damn ready. He took the jar from your hands with a flourish, bracing himself to make a show of twisting the lid.
“Aren’t you glad the man of the house is here to do the heavy li-AHH!”
His voice cracked into a surprised, high pitched (compared to his macho voice, anyway) scream as the lid gave way, the coiled up snakes jumping out of the jar. He dropped the jar to the floor, batting the things away from his face despite the fact they were already gone.
You laughed hysterically at the noise that came out of him, matched with the shocked look on his face. He cursed loudly in Spanish looking from the jar to the snakes laying on the floor, trying to piece together what happened.
“I can’t believe you did that.” He huffed, crossing his arms as his brain caught onto the prank.
“I can’t believe you fell for it!” You cackled, holding your stomach. “Your face!”
“It wasn’t that funny.” He groused.
“Yes it was! Oh god, I can’t breathe!” You panted, trying to catch your breath.
“Oh it was, was it?” He growled. His tone of voice was the only clue you had of his change in attitude before he lunged at you. You started to run but the laughter made it incredibly easy for him to catch up to you., wrapping his arms around your waist.
“Laugh it up, chiquita.” He purred, throwing you over his shoulder. The action made you squeal, squirming to get free.
“Put me down!” You shrieked, still laughing.
“We’ll see how much you’re laughing in a minute.” He threatened with a quick smack of your ass.
Okay… maybe the teasing in the bedroom wasn’t altogether a different story after all.

X-Men Abridged: 1981 - Bonus: Avengers Annual 10/What If? 27
The X-Men, those Claremontian mutants that have sworn to protect a world that hates and fears them, are a cultural juggernaut with a long, tangled history. Want to unravel this tapestry? Then read the Abridged X-Men! [more here]
(Avengers Annual 10 & What If? 27) - by Chris Claremont and Mary Jo Duffy, Michael Golden and Jerry Bingham
Avengers? You’re not here for Avengers! Let me make the following counterpoint:
Tumblr media
Holy eye shadow, Rogue!
See, Avengers Annual 10 is less about the Avengers and more about three other things:
The rehabilitation of Carol Danvers who, after this, has had her fill of the Avengers and becomes an honorary member of the X-Men;
Spider-Woman and the X-Men trying to figure out what has happened to Ms. Marvel;
Mystique trying to spring her Brotherhood from prison, using a secret weapon: Rogue.
Depending on my mood that day, I might name Rogue as my favourite-ever X-Man, so I really could not skip her debut issue. Instantly iconic, all of this:
Her streak;
Her signature green outfit with hoodie;
Her accent.
Queen.
I love how Claremont once again almost effortlessly introduces a strong female character, one that single-handedly takes down three of the strongest Avengers. Also note how free Rogue still is with her powers: fun, flirty, without the tragic can’t-touch-anyone-angle that will define her for the next three decades.
I’m sorry, am I getting ahead of myself?
This story begins as a whodunit: who pushed an amnesiac Carol Danvers off the Golden Gate Bridge and stole her mind? For that matter, where did she came from? Wasn’t she happily married and pregnant in some alternative dimension last time the readers saw her? Spider-Woman rescues her from the choppy water and calls Professor Xavier to help out. He manages to retrieve the Jane Doe’s identity and knows who attacked her: a woman named Rogue.
Rogue, meanwhile, skulks about the Avengers Mansion, first taking out Captain America and then attacking Thor.
Tumblr media
Considering what this comic is about, I don’t believe Hawkeye’s throwaway mysognism is accidental here.
Rogue’s powers work as follows: through touch, she can steal other people’s powers and memories. The longer she touches someone, the longer she’ll have them - with the looming threat of the theft becoming permanent.
After absorbing Thor, Rogue is faced with three Avengers who’s powers she can’t absorb - Spider-Woman (covered in a suit); Vision (robot) and Wonder Man (being of pure energy? Idk, I’m not really familiar with him other than his bromance with Beast). Hoping the three powers she has in her arsenal - Ms. Marvel’s, Thor’s and Cap’s - will be enough, Rogue flees.
Mystique, meanwhile, has duped Iron Man by pretending to be the Wasp and has paralysed Tony Stark in his suit with some sort of device. She picks up the powered-up Rogue and their plan becomes clear:
Tumblr media
Rogue immediately earns her place in my heart by using billionaire Tony Stark the way the Coyote uses anvils. (Also note the odd way of spelling ‘sugah’.)
I love how both the Brotherhood and the X-Men continually pull focus from the Avengers: for an Avengers-comic, it's surprising how much they're pushed to the background. Again, this makes sense if you know what this issue really is about, but that won’t become clear until the epilogue. I don’t mind, it means we get a ton of great moments, like the Blob calling Mystique ‘Misty’:
Tumblr media
My God, this era’s Destiny/Mystique is even more obvious than 90’s Rictor/Shatterstar.
A battle erupts. One funny moment is actually seeing Destiny fight. I’ve never really read comics about this incarnation of the Brotherhood and my collection mostly takes off after Legion Quest, so I mostly know Destiny posthumously. I always figured that, as a villain, she stood somewhere off on the side, delivering cryptic messages. I never realized she was the one to almost shoot Senator Kelly, nor that her powers are this practical.
Tumblr media
X-Men drinking game rule 11: Drink anytime someone fatshames the Blob.
The fight is pretty evenly matched until Spider-Woman releases Iron Man from Mystique’s little trap. Soon, the Avengers overwhelm the Brotherhood. While Mystique and Rogue manage to flee, Destiny, Avalanche, Pyro and the Blob are detained again.
With the main antagonists sorted, we return to the actual storyline: the rehabilitation of Ms. Marvel. Professor X has managed to tease her out of her catatonic state and offers her therapy to restore her missing memories and powers. (The ones stolen by Rogue.) The Avengers, not fully understanding why Carol won’t ask them for help, eventually come by for a house call.
Carol asks the X-Men to leave while the Avengers gingerly confront her. It’s very awkward.
Tumblr media
“Fuck the Avengers. Taking my beer.” - Wolverine, probably.
See, what all this refers to is the rape of Ms. Marvel. I haven’t read the particular comic in which this happens (Avengers 200), so if you want all the details, I’ll refer you to this article. Before I get into the details, it’s important to note that Claremont was the writer for Carol Danvers in her solo-series, giving her agency and turning Ms. Marvel into a three-dimensional character. The title was then cancelled and Carol was shuffled off to the Avengers. (Rogue was, in fact, planned to make her debut in that the solo-Ms. Marvel series, as one of Ms. Marvel’s new antagonists. Presumably, Rogue would steal her powers there, too. We all know Claremont loves to strip his heroes and heroines of their powers to show they’re even more badass without them.)
As an Avenger, Carol was wooed by some other-dimensional dude/entity named Marcus. He courted her by giving her flowers, worshipping the ground she stepped on and, oh yeah, ‘subtly’ influencing her mind to make her fall in love with him and consequently impregnating her.
Yes.
Now, Claremont is no stranger to putting his characters through their paces and he gleefully makes use of the whole mental manipulation-trope. In fact, telepathically coercing someone to fall in love with you is absolutely what Mastermind did to Jean Grey: he probably violated her just as much as Marcus did Carol. The difference is how it’s treated in the narrative: Mastermind’s actions are never laughed away or apologized for and are the direct cause for his downfall. They help trigger Jean’s transformation to the Dark Phoenix, whose first deed is taking out her fury on ‘Jason Wyngarde’.
That’s… not what happened with Ms. Marvel. There, the narrative condones Marcus’ actions by framing it as ‘her happy ending’ (married and pregnant, yay!), something which is celebrated by the Avengers.
This is where Carol calls them out for their bullshit.
Tumblr media
We call this ‘The Reason You Suck’-Speech. It’s a thing of beauty.
The Avengers depart, tail between their legs, and Carol hangs out with the cool X-kids from now on. For now, at least.
So, this issue is not only a landmark because it’s where Rogue debuts, but you can also see Chris Claremont going to bat for one of characters: he (presumably reluctantly) gave back the character of Carol Danvers when her solo was cancelled, proceeded to see how terribly they massacred his girl and then claimed that ownership right back.
Good for you, Claremont.
***
The “What If… the Phoenix Had Not Died”-issue is kind of boring, because it’s basically a rehash of the Phoenix Saga. Why am I paying attention to it? Because of the (mild) gore (and because the Avengers Annual wouldn’t fill a whole post). Anyway, it’s like watching a Final Destination-movie: it’s silly, light on plot and never a particularly thought-provoking movie, but it’s still fun to see all those people inventively but haplessly die.
Plot! Instead of committing suicide on the moon, the Shi’ar strip Jean of her powers after her trial. Jean is trapped in a barren mental state, almost feeling like she's a veggie. But Jean's powers refuse to remain dormant: slowly, her telepathy returns.
When Galactus threatens the Shi’ar homestead, Lilandra summons the X-Men as her champions. Jean embraces her Phoenix-side and defeats Galactus. Everyone is grateful and super-convinced Jean can handle the Phoenix this time! Yay!
And, because that battle with Galactus took a lot out of her, Jean decides she can have a little asteroid. As a treat. She keeps slipping up on her diet, supping on the occasional meteor and lonely planet to keep her power levels up. It turns out to be a slippery slope: finally, she consumes another star (in an uninhabited system! And a small one! How dare you judge her!), but when she returns to the mansion…
Tumblr media
The absolute worst moment to forget you have powers, Kitty.
Xavier attempts to bind the Phoenix, but last time, Jean helped him fight from within. This time, there's not much Jean left. Without breaking a sweat, the Phoenix wipes his brain. But she doesn’t stop there. Maybe the Phoenix remembers that, last time, she was undone by the principles of “friendship is magic”. This time, she’s determined to not let it get so far.
It’s absolutely bone-chilling.
Tumblr media
And the stars blinked As they watched her carefully Jealous of the way she shone - Atticus
I wonder if there’s a rhyme or reason to the way Jean murders her friends: is it random? Does she go for the ones she loves the most first? Does she save Cyclops for last, knowing killing him might trigger Jean to respond?
The narration mentions that the three remaining X-Men are the most powerful ones: Polaris, Havok and Cyclops. (I would’ve swapped in Storm for Cyclops, but whatever.) They have formulated a quick plan: Polaris pulls focus while Havok and Cyclops shift into position. Phoenix disintegrates Polaris while Havok and Scott try and blast Phoenix to smithereens.
But at the last moment, Scott can’t. Havok’s blast alone is not enough. Phoenix shoots him through the heart and then, finally, kills Cyclops. That’s when Jean resurfaces, realizing what she’s done. She can’t take it - she’s in the mood to dissolve in the sky, as per Virginia Woolf - and she lets the Phoenix take over.
Tumblr media
Phoenix finally lives up to her potential: The End of All That Is.
It's a mediocre plot with a lame ramp-up to a terrifying conclusion. In the regular universe, the thing that triggers the Phoenix is the utter violation of Jean’s body and mind; here, it’s being confronted by Kitty. One is the proverbial red cloth in front of the bull, the other is being assaulted by an ineffective wet cloth. The Phoenix Saga is iconic because all the pieces were carefully put in place; this just feels rushed an unearned.
Also, the Watcher is full of shit. You can’t say you don’t pass judgment whilst simultaneously comparing the merits of one tragedy to the other. Shut up, Uatu.
Check back next week for your regularly scheduled X-Men Abridged! It’s time for 1982 and the brood saga!

This Christmas - A Harry Styles Series (Part 12)
Tumblr media
Two life long friends. Secretly in love. Home for the holidays. Will they risk everything by telling the other how they feel? Or will they spend another year loving from afar?
Read these first
Prologue   Part 1    Part 2   Part 3    Part 4   Part 5  Part 6 Part 7   Part 8   Part 9   Part 10    Part 11
Waking up the next morning alone in your childhood bedroom was a little disappointing. It was a strange feeling not waking up with the warmth of Harry by your side. The fact that it had only been a couple of days meant you were in for a rude awakening once you went back to your flat in London. Speaking of which, neither you or Harry has brought up what would happen next, but it looks like you’ll have your trip to discuss it.
After washing your face and brushing your teeth, the realization it was Christmas morning and the aroma of your mother’s traditional Christmas morning breakfast taking over the house quickly brought your spirits up. Once you were done, you went straight downstairs, still wearing your Christmas pajamas, and your mouth watered at the sight of food on the table.
“Happy Christmas!” you smiled, hugging your mother.
“Happy Christmas, honey,” she smiled. “Everything is almost done.”
“Awesome, need any help?” You asked.
“Want to grab plates and then get your father?” She asked.
“Sure thing,” you smiled.
You went over to the cabinet taking out enough plates for everyone and placing them on the table. You decided on going ahead and getting everyone drinks as well before going in search of your father, who was in his office getting the present for your mother. It was something he always did. He had to wait to put it out last minute because if she knew he had purchased something for her, she would make him take it back.
“I really think she’s going to like this one this year,” he smiled, holding the box in his hands.
“You say that every year and while she does usually like them, she still complains,” you laughed.
“True, but she only stays mad at me for a couple of hours and then she lets herself enjoy the gift,” he shrugged.
“Traditions, right?” You smiled.
“Gotta love ‘em,” he said.
After stuffing your face with all Christmas breakfast, it was time to open up presents. You all took turns opening your gifts. Thank yous, gasps, laughs, and a few tears were shed with each opened present. At the end of it all, there was nothing but wrapping paper and empty bags and boxes scattered around.
“How is that we have grown children and there’s still a mess on our floor on Christmas morning?” Your mother laughed.
“Because everyone’s a kid at Christmas,” you smiled.
Next up on the family traditions was watching another Christmas movie before getting ready to head over to Anne’s. This time you picked How the Grinch Stole Christmas. You helped your mother clean up the mess while you watched the movie and spent the rest of it cuddled up on the couch, drinking yet another cup of hot chocolate.
When the movie was over, you went up to your room to get ready. You always wanted to look nice on Christmas, spending extra time on your hair and makeup and wearing a nice outfit. However, this Christmas you wanted to look extra special. Luckily, you packed a new deep shade of green dress that fit you perfectly. It wasn’t too tight, but it still flattered your figure, which you loved.
You paired it with red heels and a deep, red lip. To add in a little extra festiveness,  you put on your Christmas tree earrings. They were definitely a little much, but you loved them. When you met your parents downstairs, they both smiled at you.
“What?” You blushed.
“You look absolutely beautiful,” he smiled.
“Thank you,” you smiled.
“Okay, ready to go to the in-laws?” Your mother smirked.
“What?” You laughed.
“Well, now that you and Harry are dating, we’re all officially family, right?” She smirked.
“We’re only dating, Mum, not getting married,” you laughed.
“Not yet,” she winked.
You shook your head with a laugh before following them out the door.
**
Harry woke up yet again to a pillow being thrown in his face.
“Go away, Gem!” He mumbled, throwing a pillow towards the direction of his sister.
“Harry Edward Styles it is Christmas morning and it’s time for you to get your ass up,” Anne scolded.
“Mum?” He snapped up, instantly regretting the sudden movement.
“Yep. You have five minutes to be downstairs,” she smirked.
“Sorry!” He called out after her.
Harry groaned laying back in bed trying to wake himself up. He had gotten back only three hours before and he was slightly regretting his decision on sneaking out of the house. But who was he kidding, it was well worth it. Any time spent with you was worth more than lack of sleep.
Finally sliding off the bed, he goes into the bathroom to brush his teeth and wipe his face. Looking into the mirror, he noticed a few remnants from the previous nights. Your lipstick stained his lips and various places across his chest and neck. He smirked, remembering the details of each one as he took a washcloth to try and get the red smear off. He would have loved to keep them there for the time being, but he didn’t need to advertise his whereabouts only a few hours ago.
When he made it to the living room, piles of presents were separated based on the three of them. This was always their thing. All the presents under the tree would be piled together based on who they were for and then they would each take turns opening a present. It would have been easier to just let one person go and open all their presents, but it made the magic of opening presents last a little longer.
“Happy Christmas,” Gemma smiled, hugging him.
“Happy Christmas, Gem,” he smiled, hugging her back.
“MY babies!” Anne smiled, wrapping her arms around both of them and pressing kisses to their cheeks.
And that was something she has done every single year and probably will continue to do when both of her children are well into their fifties.
“I can’t believe it’s Christmas,” Gemma said, sitting down on the floor next to her pile of presents.
“I know. The fact that another year’s over, too,” Anne said.
“Okay, John Lennon,” Harry joked.
“Smart ass!” Anne laughed, throwing a pillow at him.
“For fuck’s sake, I’m taking all the pillows in this bloody house and hiding them forever,” He laughed.
“Hey, we don’t get to do this very often, so we have to make it a good one,” Gemma shrugged.
“And what’s that? Bug the piss out of me?” He asked.
“Exactly,” she smirked.
He rolled his eyes, getting himself some coffee, before sitting back down near his own pile of presents. He enjoyed getting presents, but he enjoyed giving them the most. He loved being able to buy his family things they wouldn’t be able to purchase for themselves. He was happy he was in a position to help his mother and sister whenever they needed it. Of course, being who they are, they didn’t need it quite so much, but it was there when they did.
After presents that included multiple gag gifts causing them to laugh uncontrollably, they all sat around eating breakfast and talking about different Christmas memories. Next, everyone went up to their rooms to get ready for everyone to come over. Of course he was the first one back downstairs, so he started getting things ready to cook while he waited for his Gemma and his mother to get back down.
Anne came down first and the two of them got going on the cooking. Harry’s job was to slice and dice everything, while Anne did the rest of it.
“So,” Anne said. “Are you and Y/N official?”
“Um… yeah, we are,” he smiled.
“And you’re happy?” She asked.
“The happiest I’ve been in a long time,” he smiled.
“I know,” she smiled. “I can tell.”
“I don’t even know why I’m asking this because I’m pretty sure I already know the answer, but are you happy about this?” He asked, throwing chopped veggies in a bowl.
“Honey, all I’ve ever wanted for you is to be happy and to live a life that you want,” she said. “I’ve always thought you and Y/N would be each other’s person, but I knew I couldn’t be the one to tell you that. You two had to figure it out on your own and sometimes the only way to find your way to who you’re meant to be with… you have to be with other people.”
“So, you’re saying it was probably  a good thing for me and Y/N to just now get together?” He asked.
“I do,” she nodded. “Think about it Harry, when all of this… when you were in One Direction you were still so young and traveling around the world the majority of the time. You weren’t ready to have a serious girlfriend and had you and Y/N tried back then, it really could have fucked up any chance you two might have had. And then what? You two would have missed out on a life together.”
“Wow, I guess I didn’t think of it like that,” he said.
“Which is why I’m happy you two are trying not to focus on the past,” she said. “I know it’s easier said than done, but everything has its way of working out. It may not be when we want it, but it’ll come when we’re ready for it.”
Harry smiled, wrapping his arms around her, “I love you.”
“I love you, too,” she smiled. “And next time you want to sneak out and in the house in the middle of the night, please just use the front door like a normal person.”
“Uh… you know about that?” He winced.
“You’re needy son, I’m surprised it took you that long to sneak over to Y/N’s place,” she joked.
“I really don’t understand why everyone keeps saying that like it’s a bad thing!” He laughed.
**
When you arrived at Anne's house, you suddenly felt a little nervous. You weren’t sure why, but wondered if it was because this would be the first public outing for you and Harry. And it wasn’t even public, just close friends and family. You hated to know what it would feel like when you actually did accompany him in public, which is something else you would have to discuss.
Before your father could even knock, Harry had opened the door with a huge smile on his face.
“Happy Christmas!” He cheered.
“Oh boy, someone’s already had a few glasses of wine,” your mother jokes.
“I’ve not!” Harry laughed.
“Well we’re bloody in for it when you do,” she laughed, kissing his cheek. “But Happy Christmas to you, too.”
You giggled when Harry looked at you, “I don’t know if I should be offended or not,” he said.
“If you have to ask, you already have your answer,” you said.
He smiled, slipping his arm around your waist, “You look beautiful…. And those earrings… are lovely.”
“Smooth,” you laughed. “This is my Christmas earrings. I’ve worn them every year for like four years.”
“That doesn’t exactly shock me,” he said.
“I might have to get you a pair,” you smirked. “We could match.”
“I’d love to, but sadly I don’t have any piercings,” he sighed, dramatically.
“Oh, we can change that with a sewing needle and a trip to the bathroom,” you said. “It’s not stopped you before.”
“You heard about that?” He winced.
“Of course, I heard about it. You act like I’ve been living under a rock for the past six years,” you rolled your eyes.
“Sorry, sorry,” he put his hands up in defense.
“Anyway, how was Christmas this morning with your family?” you asked.
“Entertaining,” he laughed, handing you a drink. “Yours?”
“Traditional,” you joked. “And also very entertaining.”
“Maybe one day we’ll have our own entertaining tradition filled Christmas morning,” he winked.
“Can’t wait,” you smiled.
**
The rest of the day is filled with games, food, laughter, and drinks. You were having the best time and it felt even more special having Harry at your side. Eventually, Anne brought out Christmas Home videos and you all laughed at the memories. But there was one you had forgotten all about. It was of you and Harry probably about five or six. You two were cuddled up together, holding hands, and watching a Christmas movie.
“Who is your best friend in the whole world?” Anne smiled, pointing the camera at Harry.
“Y/N!” He smiled.
“And Y/N who is your best friend in the whole world?” She asked.
“Harry!” You smiled.
Both of you wrapped your arms around each other in a great big hug.
“That’s when I knew,” Anne smiled.
“Knew what?” Harry asked.
“That one day she would be officially a part of this family,” she smiled. “And on that day, I would give her this.”
Anne held out a wrapped box, the one Harry was supposed to have given you the other night. You looked at her confused before ripping off the paper and opening it up. Inside was a stocking with your name on it. The same exact stocking and font that match Anne, Gemma and Harry’s stocking hanging on the mantle.
“You always wanted one,” she smiled. “And now you have it.”
You smiled, tears forming in your eyes, as you wrapped her up in a big hug. “Thank you,” you whispered. “I love it.”
“You’re welcome, sweetheart,” she smiled.
**
As the night died down a bit, you and Harry headed outside to the backyard.
“Christmas day is such a bittersweet feeling,” you sighed.
“How come?” He asked.
“Because once it’s here… it’s over and soon after the magic of Christmas… the feeling of Christmas is gone until next year,” you sighed.
“Well, at least we’ll have each other,” he smiled. “And we’ll know it may have been the magic of Christmas that brought us together.”
“Okay, how many Hallmark movies have you been watching?” You laughed.
“It’s true,” he laughed.
“Yeah, it is,” you smiled, wrapping your arms around him. “Whatever the reason, I’m glad we’re finally here, together.”
“Me too,” he smiled, holding you close.
And to make the moment even more romantic, it started to snow.
“Oh wait! I forgot, one more present,” he said.
“Harry, seriously, I’ve had enough,” you giggled.
“I think you’ll like it,” he said, handing you a box.
Inside the box was mistletoe, causing you to laugh.
“What’s more romantic than this… kissing under the mistletoe while it’s snowing on Christmas Night,” he smiled. “Merry Christmas, baby.”
“Merry Christmas,” you replied with a smile before pressing your lips against his.
And that is how This Christmas quickly became your favorite.

THE END! I hope you all enjoyed this series and look out for the companion series coming soon! :)

Family Talk
"Yang is a great mom. She raised me, after all."
Written for a prompt by hunnyB on AO3: "It would be cute to see something like Ruby talking proudly about her sister to her teammates and friends and Yang opening about their past. I like to see people looking at Yang with a sad-surprised face. Or maybe Ruby telling everyone Yang is basically a mother to her, and Yang tears up and everyone is surprised."
I took way longer writing this than I should have, because I kept fussing with when I should set it, until I finally gave up and went ahead and set this sometime in the future, when Salem is defeated and they're all happy and safe and share an apartment together and they all live happily ever after. And, since it's sometimes hard to get Ruby to talk about things, I decided to loosen Ruby's tongue a bit, so have a doped-up post wisdom teeth surgery Ruby. (Also because I thought it'd be adorable if the first thing Ruby does while on painkillers is talk about how awesome her older sister is.) Enjoy!
"We're back!" Yang calls over her shoulder, nudging the door shut behind her until she hears it close with a loud click. She turns to set the bags she's carrying on the counter—and immediately has to lunge forwards to keep her sister from faceplanting into the tile. "Rubes, we just got back from the doctor. Please try to avoid braining yourself for now."
"Whatever, mom," Ruby mumbles, words slightly slurred. Yang steadies her with a hand on her shoulder and steers her over to the couch.
"Here, lie down before you fall down," she says, nudging Ruby onto the couch. Her sister flops onto the cushions, giggling loudly.
Blake smiles fondly, finally looking up from her book. "How'd it go?" she calls from the armchair, absently flipping to the next page.
"Everything went fine, the surgery went smoothly, all that good stuff," Yang replies. "She'll be sore for the next few days, but we're all stocked up on soup and ice cream and stuff for smoothies, so she should be fine."
"You're lucky, Blake," Weiss teases from the doorway. "Yang's already preparing for when you two have kids. She's going to be a great mom."
Both Blake and Yang blush furiously at Weiss' comment. Yang attempts to head back to the kitchen, but she's stopped by a hand on her arm. "Come sit with me," Ruby whines. "I'm cold. Wan' snuggles."
"Ruby, I need to put the ice cream away before it melts," Yang sighs, attempting to pull herself free.
But despite being hopped up on strong painkillers, her sister's grip doesn't budge. "Please, Yang?"
"I'll take care of the ice cream," Weiss offers, strolling over to the collection of grocery bags on the counter. "You know how she gets when she's like this. She's not going to shut up until you sit with her."
"Fine, fine," Yang says, nudging Ruby over to make room on the couch. "Thanks, Weiss. Happy now?" she asks her sister.
Ruby nods into Yang's thigh, having arranged herself with her head in her sister's lap. Yang smiles fondly, running a hand through her sister's hair. "How're you feeling?"
"Mouth hurts. Tired. M' head feels weird."
"Yeah, you're not gonna be feeling too great for the next few days. Why don't you take a nap?" Yang suggests. "Sleep off the worst of it. You can have some ice cream when you wake up."
The younger girl, frowns, shaking her head. "Don' wanna sleep," she complains.
"Could've told you it wouldn't be that easy," Weiss says, settling herself into the chair across from Blake. Ruby frowns at her. "What's wrong?"
"What you said. Before. Yang is a great mom." Ruby looks directly at Weiss, suddenly seeming free of her medicated haze. "She raised me, after all."
Silence falls over the room, as the reactions from the other girls vary. Blake has a knowing look on her face, but she also seems very sad all of a sudden. Yang looks embarrassed. Weiss has a curious expression on her face. "What are you talking about, Ruby?"
"Dad wasn't around much, when we were kids," Ruby mumbles. Blake and Weiss lean closer to hear her better. "So, Yang took care of us. She'd read stories to me before bed, and help me with my homework, and packed lunches, and she even cooked for us. She was always there for me."
Their teammates look at the pair of sisters with a mixture of awe and sadness. They'd both known that the two were close, but they'd never had a chance to see why they were so close—or just how deep that bond between them ran.
"Ruby, we don't have to talk about this now," Yang says hastily, bowing her head so that her face is hidden behind a curtain of blonde hair. Even with her face covered, it's impossible to miss the way that she'd blushing.
Ruby shakes her head. "No, I wanna talk about it. You're so awesome and you do so much for me, but you never want me to tell anyone about it," she whines, trying to push herself up to a sitting position.
"Ok, ok, don't get all worked up while you still have stitches in your mouth," Yang scolds her, gently pressing on her shoulders until Ruby gives in and lays back down. "I just can't believe that you'd want to compliment me after living off of my cooking for so long."
Ruby blinks up at her, a fond but slightly dopey smile on her face. "It wasn' that bad."
"It wasn't great, though," Yang points out.
"We're still alive." Ruby gives a lazy half-shrug. "We did eat a lot of sandwiches, though."
"After all these years you're still complaining about that? I'll have you know that sandwiches are very healthy. You've got bread and meat and boom, both your basic food groups. If you're feeling adventurous you can even add some lettuce. Then you've even got veggies. I rest my case. Sandwiches are the ultimate food."
Ruby giggles loudly, before her face splits with a wide yawn. "Yang? I'm tired." Her eyes fall shut, and within seconds she's snoring.
"Finally," Yang lets out a sigh of relief.
Weiss shakes her head incredulously. "Those painkillers are really strong, too. I've never seen anyone be able to fight them like that."
"It's sheer willpower," Blake says softly. "Ruby is the most determined person I've ever met. I guess it shouldn't that surprising."
"Oh, she's stubborn alright," Yang agrees. "You should have seen her as a little kid. She was determined to get into everything. I lost track of her every time I turned around. And once she developed her semblance? Good luck keeping up with the kid with super speed!" She laughs cheerfully, but her expression is still pensive.
"I hadn't realized," Blake says, a distant look on her face. "That you two were so close. You told me a little bit about your family, when we were back at Beacon, but it never occurred to me how much responsibility you took on as a child."
"And you told me, back at Haven, about how your mom left, and you lost Ruby's mom too, but I didn't realize, even then, how hard that must have been on you." Weiss looks guilty. She wraps her arms around herself. "I'm sorry I kept asking about it. I didn't mean to upset you."
"I'm not upset," Yang says softly. "I'm just—I'm not really used to talking about it, that's all. It's not really something I try to think about too much. It's a little easier these days, since I've got you guys, but it's still hard to think about how my dad was after we lost Summer. He just kind of—shut down. Don't get me wrong, he was still there, he still made sure we had food in the house, and he had Qrow check in on us when he could. But he was busy with school, so." She sighs heavily. "I just did what anyone would have, in our situation. Someone had to take care of us, and make sure that Ruby grew up okay. I don't think that I did anything special, honestly."
"But you did," Weiss says firmly. "Trust me, Yang, what you did was very special. Most people in your situation would have just given up. They definitely wouldn't have tried as hard as you did. You're an amazing older sister and Ruby adores you."
"You should be proud of yourself," Blake murmurs. "Not only did you raise an amazing little sister, but you didn't turn out too bad yourself. Not only did you handle a very difficult set of circumstances beautifully, but you even came out the other side smiling. Not many people can say that."
"Thanks, guys," Yang whispers, wiping away the tear tracks on her face with a watery smile. They sit in a comfortable silence for a few minutes. Across from her, her girlfriend has settled back in her chair, reabsorbed in her book. Weiss is messing with the remote, trying to see if anything good is on. And Ruby is snoring softly, laying half-cured with her head in Yang's lap. After all these years, they still fit together perfectly.
"I couldn't ask for a better family."

Cutting Edge ~ Nathan MacKinnon Ch. 4
Hey everyone! I hope you are all doing well and having a nice Friday! Thank you so much for all your kind, supportive words! I’m so glad you are liking this series! Disclaimer for this chapter: I’m sorry if you like Ashley Wagner as a figure skater. To be honest she bothers me which is why I picked her for a little conflict that may or may not happen during the season lol
Anyways, enjoy and let me know what you think! Also, let me know if you would like to be tagged in the upcoming chapters! Thanks!
Prologue  Ch. 1 Ch. 2 Ch. 3
Tumblr media
“Nope. Try again,” you said as Andre tripped over his feet and missed the net. It was Monday morning at practice and you had just shown your group the three-turn move that Nate suggested you teach them. Andre groaned and looked over at you.
“What is the point of this?” he asked.
“The point is to be more fluid. You guys do this already, you just need to follow through with it and not be choppy,” you responded.
“Maybe we are choppy because we have to keep the puck with us,” Andre grumbled and tried again, still not entirely succeeding. To be fair, not many had been successful that morning.
“You guys just need to keep your momentum,” you tried to explain. They looked at you like you were crazy. You quickly skated over to the side and grabbed a stick, becoming exasperated that they seemed not to believe you that it would work. Taking one of the pucks, you quickly did the move and shot the puck straight into the net. You turned back to your group and laughed at their dumbstruck faces. Honestly, you were even shocked that you made, but you couldn’t show them that. “So that’s how you do it. Any questions?” They all shook their heads no. “Okay then, line up,” you said, deciding to keep the stick with you. Though it still seemed foreign to you, you felt more comfortable with it. As the group you had started to get it, you smiled and looked down the ice to find Nate already looking at you. He was at center ice in another group, and when you grabbed the hockey stick a few of the players and coaches stopped to see what you were doing. He didn’t bother to look away when you met his gaze, but instead nodded at you with an impressed face. You shrugged and laughed, turning your attention back to your group.
The groups rotated about 30 minutes later, and Nate skated right up to your side. “Look who’s becoming a hockey player,” he teased you quietly. You giggled and elbowed him.
“I told you it wasn’t that hard,” you said, adding “and you owe me two laps.” Nate looked at you unimpressed.
           “Are you serious?” he asked.
“Can’t have people thinking I’m a pushover, right?” you laughed. Nate rolled his eyes, but smiled at you as he took off.
~ ~ ~
The following day you stayed after practice, seeing as the team had Wednesday off. You were in the middle of your billman spin when you caught the outline of a blurred figure every rotation you made. You finished the spin, letting go of your right leg and checking out. Glancing toward the side, you found Nate standing there. He smiled as you skated over to him, shifting his weight from one foot to another slightly. That’s when you realized he had his skates on. “Mind if I join you?” Nate asked. You shook your head and smiled up at him.
“You aren’t mad at me for making you skate laps?” you joked. He chuckled as he stepped out onto the ice.
“Completely. Those two laps were the worst thing I had to do yesterday,” he answered with a wink. You laughed and skated around the perimeter of the rink with him. The two of you spent about two more hours on the ice, talking and doing different things, but always ending up back next to each other. You sat next to Nate on a bench off the ice to take your skates off while continuing your conversation. “So how did you get into skating? In Canada hockey is huge. I can’t imagine it’s the same in Southern California,” Nate asked after he had told you how he started playing hockey, and you smiled.
“So I was actually a dancer when I was younger. My parents put me in ballet when I was about 2 in a half because I was that hyper child that needed something to do,” Nate chuckled at that. “Anyways, I had an older cousin who was taking skating lessons and had her like 10th birthday party at the rink. I was 4 and one of my other older cousins offered to skate with me. And I fell in love the second I stepped onto the ice. I asked my parents after the party if I could start skating and they signed me up for classes. And you should know as of last week with Z that I am a competitive, stubborn little shit of a person so I jumped at the idea of having a coach and competing. And I never looked back. The rink is my happy place, it’s where I feel most myself, and everything that has come along with it is just a perk,” You smiled, drying off your blades and putting your soakers on them.
“Oh yes, an Olympic gold medal is just a perk,” Nate dead panned, but you could see he had a smirk on his face.
“I mean I worked hard for it. But it never felt like work because I love to skate,” you replied simply. Nate smiled softly at you, and you thought you would never get used to the way it made your stomach flutter.
“That is beautiful Coach,” he teased you, and you knocked your shoulder into his arm. He laughed as you barely even moved him, more just bounced off of him. “I’m being serious Y/N. Obviously you are an amazing skater, and we are lucky to have you.” Nate said sincerely. You looked away as you started to blush.
“Well you aren’t so bad yourself mister,” you tried to joke back to cover up how much his words were actually affecting you. Nate chuckled and shook his head.
“I just try my best. Sometimes it doesn’t feel like enough, but I try,” he admitted.
“But that’s all you can do, try. And you have a whole team behind you to support you,” you said, feeling that he was just like you; extremely tough on himself. “Plus, from what I’ve seen you’re a pretty good skater,” you smiled as he met your eyes after putting his skates away.
“Only pretty good?” he teased, and you laughed.
“Well there’s always room for improvement,” you said, teasing him back. Nate let out a chuckle and followed you out of the rink, walking with you over to your jeep.
“So, we have tomorrow off…” Nate started, rubbing the back of his neck. You smiled and nodded, encouraging him to continue. Nate wanted to just ask you out, but he wasn’t positive where you stood. You were nice to him, but you were nice to everyone. He decided to go with what he had already offered before to be safe. “Do you still need to get a bookshelf?” As he asked, you couldn’t help as your smile became brighter at the thought of hanging out with him away from the rink again.
“I do actually. I was planning on doing that tomorrow,” you hoped you weren’t blushing too much, but Nate could see it and it only gave him more confidence.
“I can come over around noon. We could get some lunch then get your book case,” he suggested, trying to gauge your reaction. You smiled shyly, knowing your blush had to be evident at this point. Nate thought it looked adorable. Here you were, this Olympic gold medalist becoming shy when he was asking you to hang out.
“That would be great, as long as you don’t mind helping me,” you said. Nate beamed at you.
“Not at all.” You smiled back at him and said your goodbyes with the promise of seeing each other tomorrow. You drove home, nervous and excited for being able to hang out with him more one on one.
The next morning you woke up and busied yourself trying to clean up a bit. Not that you were messy, but you needed to move some boxes out of the way to make space for your book shelf. Getting dressed in some simple jeans and a black tank with a long, velvet deep yellow cardigan over it, you were just putting on your converse when Nate showed up at your door. You insisted on driving, sure that you would buy more than just a bookshelf and didn’t want to cram it all into his car. Nate directed you to a cute sandwich shop downtown for lunch, and the two of you talked the whole time about everything and anything. It felt so natural to be around him; the two of got along very well. Both of you being extremely competitive athletes, you also understood each other on a different level. Getting through lunch relatively unnoticed, Nate was amused when you were the one approached for a picture and not him. He couldn’t help but smile at the way you talked to the young girl and encouraged her to keep working on a jump she said she was having a problem with. After lunch, you and Nate went to Target and picked out a simple bookshelf. You also grabbed a few more things you could not leave the store without and Nate pushed the cart along, teasing you when you couldn’t pass up buying a few new books as well. Traveling from competition to competition always provided reading time, so you figured road trips with the team would provide the same.
Once back at your apartment Nate took over constructing the book shelf while you unloaded your boxes for it. The day carried on with playful banter and you could feel your crush growing even stronger. Nate was feeling the same. It was nice for him to be around someone who didn’t seem to care that he was a professional hockey player. He felt that he could really be himself around you. Between the laughing, lunch, shopping, and setting up, it was 7pm before you even knew it. “Do you want some pizza?” you asked him as you placed a candle on one of the shelves.
“Don’t tell my coaches,” he winked and you laughed.
“Never,” you said, asking him what a good pizza place to order from would be. “I’ll order a veggie one. That will make it a healthy meal.” Nate laughed and offered to pay, but you insisted being that he spent his whole day helping you, plus bought lunch. When the pizza arrived, you made your plates and sat at the table. “Do you ever miss being home with your family?” you asked after he told you all about them.
“I do yeah. I love them and being able to spend time with them. But I’ve made Denver my home also and this team is like family. I’m happy being here with them,” Nate answered sincerely.
“I think it’s really great you guys all have each other. I’ve never been much of a team player so I’ve never experienced that kind of bond,” you admitted.
“You have to have friends through skating though, right?” he asked.
“Yes and no,” you shrugged. Nate gave you a questioning look. “Girls are mean.” Nate broke out laughing. You laughed too and continued. “Once you get to a certain level, like you support one another but if someone your competing against falls you don’t feel bad. And I know that sounds horrible, but when there are only usually 3 spots on the Olympic team every four years, and the competitive span of a female figure skater is only like six years at senior level depending on how fast you learn, it’s a super competitive atmosphere. You tend to become better friends with people you won’t compete against. So like for me, my best friend is Jeremy Abbott. He’s kind of like an older brother to me. And I’m close to a few ice dancers. But any female single skater friend either tends to have gone through the ranks before you, or you start mentoring someone younger as they hop onto the circuit and you phase out. I think I’m better friends with girls I have competed against now that none of us are competing anymore. That’s just kind of how it goes,” you tried your best not to make it sound like you were a horrible person. Nate nodded thoughtfully, then grinned at you.
“Does this mean you have an arch enemy that we all have to look out for?” You couldn’t help but laugh at his question.
“Unfortunately, kind of. Playing the Stars should be interesting this year.”
“Playing the Stars is interesting every year,” Nate muttered. “Who is it?” he asked curiously.
“Don’t say anything ok. I have a reputation to uphold. I can’t be talking bad about another skater in this program,” you pleaded. “Plus the press already thinks we don’t like each other. I don’t need to be the one to add fire to that flame.”
“Yeah I’d rather not talk to the press so your secret is safe with me Y/N,” Nate said, leaning in closer as to convey confidence.
“Her name is Ashley Wagner. She was annoyed that in my first competition I bet her and knocked her off the podium completely. And every competition since I had beat her,” you explained and Nate nodded along. “Also, if you meet her, don’t let her fool you. She seems nice, but she’s not that great. She purposefully tripped me during warm ups once. That’s when all the rumors started flying around.” Nate looked at you surprised.
“You didn’t do anything back to her?”
“No,” you laughed lightly. “That’s not what you do in my sport. I kept smiling and brushed it off best I could.”
“Alright. So we’ll have to protect you around her. You’re too nice,” Nate grinned at you. You smiled back and cleared both of your plates as you had finished eating.
“Shut up. She’s a coach too. It should be fine…I hope.” Nate shrugged at your reply, taking a seat on the coach and making himself comfortable.
“I don’t know. Hockey might just bring out the worst in both of you.”
“Gee, thanks Nate. Glad to know you’d have my back if it came to blows,” you plopped down next to him. Not too close, but close enough the you could knock your knee into his. Curling your feet up on the couch, you both smiled lazily at each other.
“Don’t worry Coach, I’ll be your back up. Tyson will probably be your hype-man,” Nate teased, reaching to shove your shoulder slightly. When his hand came down though, it rested slightly touching yours, and neither of you moved.
“Sounds about right,” you tried to laugh your nerves off. Nate decided to take a leap, and placed his hand over yours. He smiled when he felt you intertwine your fingers with his. The both of you sat in comfortable silence for a minute. Nate was about to speak when your phone started to ring, ruining the moment.
“I’m sorry,” you said, looking at your phone and seeing that it was Jeremy calling. You denied the call, but your screen just lit up again. “Speak of the devil. I can call him back later. I’m sure it’s not important.”
“It’s fine. It’s getting late, and we have practice tomorrow so I should probably go,” Nate said, letting go of your hand and standing up. You were going to kill Jeremy.
“Well thank you for coming over and helping me,” you said as you walked Nate over to the door.
“Anytime,” Nate responded, stopping just outside and turning back to you. “We should do it again sometime.”
“Put together a book shelf?” you raised your eyebrow, hoping you weren’t over analyzing the moment the two of you just had. Nate chuckled and reached out for your hand again.
“No. Lunch, dinner, this,” he squeezed your hand for emphasis. You blushed and nodded. “A book shelf if you really need another one,” Nate added, making you giggle.
“That would be nice,” you responded. Nate grinned at you, and with one more squeeze of your hand he dropped it.
“See you tomorrow Y/N,” he said, backing away from you.
“Get home safely Nate,” you said, smiling at him till he turned around and walked down the hallway. You shut the door and locked up, walking back to the couch and the now 6 missed calls from your best friend. You called him back with a sigh. You didn’t give Jeremy a second to talk when he answered. “You better be dying to have called me this many times.”
“Calm down, I just wanted to talk to you. Why weren’t you answering?” he laughed.
“Nate was over. I think we were having a moment and you ruined it,” you complained.
“Shit…sorry!” Jeremy responded. There was a pause, then he spoke again with excitement. “Now tell me all about it.” You laughed and launched into the story about your day, all the meanwhile looking forward for the season to begin, and to be able to see where things were headed with Nate.
