Ren Amamiya Headcanons

Before P5R *P4 SPOILERS*

~ Ren had a very rough home life with divorced parents so he was never used to stability.

~ Adachi is Ren's uncle and Ren spent many days at his home when his parents' arguments became more intense.

~ That being said Ren is from Inaba.

~ Ren was an awkward and quiet kid hiding a lot of anger and resentment because of all the cruel things happening around him.

~ Ren played with Nanako sometimes and even met Yu and Yosuke a few times.

~ When Adachi was exposed for the murders, the anger and resentment Ren was feeling had grown even worse, being betrayed by the one person who meant something to him.

~ All this made Ren decide he wanted to be a police officer when he grew up, but that all changed when the events of P5R happened.

During P5R *P5R SPOILERS OBVIOUSLY*

~ After Ren's sentencing, he vowed he would never become a police officer if it meant doing to someone what was done to him.

~ When he awakened Arsene he felt powerful for the first time in his life, hence the manic grin on his face when it happens.

~ Ryuji and Ann were the first friends Ren had ever made and this makes him very protective of them.

~ Ren had started to form a friendship of sorts with Shiho before her attempted s**cide. He hopes he can reconnect with her in the future with Ann's help.

~ After meeting Yusuke, Ren told Ryuji and Ann that he wanted to model for him and they sat there in utter shock while Morgana nearly hacked up a lung laughing.

~ Related to the previous one, after meeting Akechi for the first time Ren told his friends that he thought Akechi was hot and Ryuji told him he had the world's worst taste in men.

~ While he would get over it eventually, Ren was suspicious of Makoto for a couple of months after Kaneshiro's palace considering she blackmailed them into helping her.

~ While Ren didn't think much of Haru during Okumura's palace, but over time Ren grew to see her like a sister and was quite tempted to do something very painful to her fiancé. She was one of his closest friends only topped by Ryuji, Ann, Sumire, and Akechi.

~ Speaking of Akechi, his betrayal cut Ren very deeply because by then he had gained a crush on him and that person who he felt was his other half had planned to kill him all along.

~ Shido's Shadow had been the first time Ren was truly tempted to kill someone.

~ Sumire was someone Ren would consider a friend. but it wasn't until Maruki's reality where he started to become a lot closer to her.

~ Ren was actually neutral about Maruki and his reality. He saw the good it could through his friends as they were living great lives, but he also saw the cruelty in losing one's sense of self and having no say in what their new life would entail. In the end, he chose to fight Maruki out of respect for Akechi's final wish, although Ren was quite tempted by the promise of not losing him.

After P5R

~ After the allegations against Ren were proven false his record was wiped clean so Ren used the insane amount of Mementos money he made to pay for his schooling in university in full (no debt allowed). He uses his flower shop money to pay for his apartment.

~ Ren bought his apartment so he wouldn't have to return home after his probation ended.

~ Ren went to the same university as Makoto and Haru so the three made it a point to meet up for study sessions. He would still video chat with the rest of his friends once a week.

~ During his university days he managed to get in contact with Akechi again and they frequently talk on the phone and Ren would even sneak to Jazz Jin to meet up with him without his friends knowing. That failed later because Futaba hacked Ren's phone again.

~ When Ren graduated university with his psychology degree, he was so impacted by Maruki that he decided to become a therapist so he find a way to help people solve their problems instead of running from them.

~ Ren managed to reconnect with Shiho and they became very close friends. She even taught him how to play volleyball.
