Lol wanna infodump to me about Gabriel so I can use that information to compare how similar he's with mister Quinlan? I like comparing vampire's features from different kinds of franchises.
👀 under read more for heavy spoilers of the LoS Trilogy!
Edit: I didn't even mention his features once, Fml.
Gabriel is a tall, broad man with auburn hair, and facial hair, though he's kinda scruffy. He also has dark blue eyes, and has a monotone, soft voice. With a Scottish accent. Also he has cute moles and freckles 🩷
Dracul is incredibly pale, you can actually see his veins in the model, with black hair and red eyes. His hair is longer, and he has claws. His robe is open, where he is fully tiddy out. He's perpetually exhausted, and it shows in his voice. His facial hair is formed into a goatee, and is more filled out. He doesn't have pointy ears, or noticeable fangs, but he has a Dragon form!
Ok, so Gabriel was an orphan born around the 11th century, however his blood family was supposedly of royal descent. It's theorized that he was a bastard son in the Cronqvist family, which is stated in his bio in LoS1. I remember it stating in the same bio that he was found in the arms of an Archangel Gabriel statue, thus being named Gabriel, however I can't find the proof of that piece. He was taken in by the Brotherhood of Light, a morally grey group of early Catholic knights, as an infant and raised by them. He loves mountains, and named himself Belmont after them. He was stated to have been aloof and hard to like, unless it was his best friend. He was plagued by dark thoughts, which only she could clear. 1039, he married his best friend, Marie, and in 1046, he went on a mission to capture the Daemon Lord, which was a coverup so that Cardinal Volpe and the other elders, plus Pan, could essentially force Marie into giving up their son Trevor, who was born while Gabriel was gone.
In 1049, Marie was murdered, starting Gabriel's quest in LoS1. He meets Pan and goes to the Titan Graveyard, where we fight our first titan, and meet Zobek. Marie also communicates to Gabriel in this place. Zobek helps Gabriel on his journey, and even tells him about the God Mask, which will allow the wearer essentially gain the power of God himself. All he needs to do is kill the Lords of Shadow and gain the parts of the mask they are guarding. On his way to the first Lord, Cornell the Lord of Lycans, he meets Claudia and her protector the Black Knight Golem. Now Claudia is the last of the Aghartan civilization, which was destroyed by Cornell. Now, one thing to keep in mind, is that she's a teenager, but it's actually unknown what her age or her DOB is. She's also mute and speaks telepathically. With her, Gabriel destroys the second titan. However, while resting, Gabriel has a nightmare where he stabs and kills Claudia, and he wakes to Pan coming to talk to him. Pan informs him that he needs to take the gauntlet from the Black Knight Golem, which Gabriel refuses, until he looks over to Claudia and finds that his nightmare was reality, and he had killed Claudia. Which starts a fight between Gabriel and The Black Knight Golem. Gabriel wins, and takes the gauntlet, and also absorbs the dark energy. He has been absorbing all the bosses dark energies.
When he fights Cornell, Cornell tells him what the Lords of Shadow are. Essentially, the Lords of Shadow in question: Cornell, Carmilla, and Death; were founders of the Brotherhood of Light. They were drawn to holy spots on the Earth, and when they came to these spots, they essentially got tricked and the holy sides went to Heaven to become generals of God's armies, while the husk of sin was left on Earth and reigned terror. Gabriel proceeds to beat him to death with his own hammer, before being hit with the dark power, and getting the Cyclone Boots relic.
Pan takes him to the next area, where Zobek meets him at the Wygol Graveyard and he confronts the Abbey, who had hoarded the holy water, essentially sentencing his people to death or into becoming Vampires. Gabriel takes the holy water, which in turn leaves the Abbey to death by the hands of the vampires.
Once Gabriel gets to the Castle, and he meets Laura, a young vampire girl. Now, he doesn't really know how to handle the girl, because of her spoiled, bloodthirsty attitude, but when she gets close to killing him, he sinks to his knees and we have another scene with Marie, where he tells her that he doesn't deserve her, that he's ashamed of everything he's done. That he doesn't deserve to be a man of God. But she comforts him the whole time, holding his face and hugging him. Laura stops and watches him, before saying "I... I envy you..." Before she leaves with the final words of "I don't want to play anymore."
Gabriel gets to Carmilla, where she tries to seduce him and he genuinely looks disgusted by her. She reiterates what Cornell says, and he defeats her by hooking onto her leg as she tries to fly away, and using the cyclone boots and the gauntlet, he's able to keep himself from slamming into the castle roof and instead uses it to stake her and keeps her pinned until the sun comes up.
After Carmilla, Pan opens a portal to the entrance to the land of the dead. The only way he can get through is by helping Baba Yaga retrieve the keys to her music box, where she can get a blue rose and regain her youth. This also means that she shrinks Gabriel down to go into the music box itself, and the poor man is so confused. It's a shame because after he gets the rose and goes through the portal, his stalker kills Baba Yaga, mostly because he is unsure of who she is working for, and that scares his stalker.
The DLC essentially is where Gabriel becomes a vampire by drinking from Laura, which kills her, and facing the Forgotten One, whose power gives Gabriel the insane powers he has in LoS:MoF and LoS2.
Once making it through the land of the dead, he meets Death, who is Zobek. Zobek kills Gabriel and completes the mask, which was actually a ploy for Satan, who in turn incapacitates Zobek and takes the mask. Now, Marie protects Gabriel during this time, as the restless spirits are trying to figure out what's going on. God allows Gabriel to come back, as an Angel, to where he defeats and exorcises Satan, claiming that "Every man has the power to repent. I have faith in that." Keep this quote in mind. Then he finds out the God Mask will only allow the wearer to see through the eyes of God. And that's it. He talks to Marie the last time, and breaks down in screen for a moment.
Quick edit: I forgot to mention Death reveals that he mind controlled Gabriel while he slept into beheading Marie and stabbing Claudia, killing both of them.
MoF can be summed up like this, Dracula (he calls himself Dracula in this one) fights a knight of the Brotherhood, staking this knight with the Vampire Killer. This knight is Trevor, but he only reveals that he is Dracula's son, to which the Mirror of Fate confirms this. So in a moment of panic, Dracula feeds Trevor his blood, which he thinks didn't work, so he has a tomb special made for Trevor, but he calls his boy Alucard, since he doesn't know Trevor's name at this point. However, in his rage, Dracula sent a hoard of monsters into the village that sent Trevor, which resulted in Trevor's wife, Sypha, being killed and their son, Simon, to be orphaned. 30 years later, Simon invades the Castle, and Trevorcard wakes up from his death sleep. Something I've always enjoyed in this trilogy is just how much emotion the men express in it, Trevorcard onscreen sobs at the fact he's now a vampire, before trying to piece himself back together, and going to try and fight Dracula. It's pretty unanimous that Dracula let them win, but it can't be confirmed.
Now LoS2, Dracul is revealed to still be capable of wielding holy magic, and stakes himself on the Crissaegrim, just for the chance of true death, eternal peace. In doing this, he makes a very painful pact with his son, that he will sleep until time comes for him to reawaken and finally defeat both Zobek and Satan, once and for all. Now, Dracul's memories of the event of the pact are frazzled, as are the effects of the Crissaegrim. Dracul goes in and out of his mind, which is the Castle trying to keep him in the pit of despair and the cycle of hate. He has to protect his son, Trevor, who is a young boy in the Castle. There is also a point where he has to defend and protect Marie from the Castle's Illusion of Carmilla. Dracul defeats his inner darkness, and once again becomes the Champion of God, by destroying Satan. However, during the fight, Satan possesses Trevorcard and begins to taunt him with phrases like, "Your son hates you, Gabriel! What did you do to him?"
Satan tries to make Dracul recreate when he killed his son, by using the Vampire Killer. However, Dracul was quicker, and pins Satan against a fence and stakes him there, killing Satan once and for all.
He goes back over where Trevorcard is unconscious, and he cuts himself open to drop his blood into Trevorcard's mouth, who surges back awake and drinks in his father's blood, before he gets pulled away.
Things end on a more hopeful, happy ending.
I personally like to think that Marie gets revived and lives with them, because Gabriel deserves his family back after everything he's been through. Also, there is a Brotherhood archer who accompanies him in the Pachislot version of LoS1, her name is Felicia. But I don't have much info on their relationship, other than possibly being Mentor-Student.
Honestly, he is a man who gets shit done, and doesn't hesitate, especially when it comes to his family. Dracul is blunt and cold, but it just depends on who he's talking to. But he's still a traumatized man, who really just wanted to die. Also doesn't help that in order to upgrade Dracul's powers in LoS2, it involves Dracul cutting himself open. Which does hurt him. It's also the only way to use the fast travel system too.
