there isn't much room in gwaren for proper farming, a few of the settlements have farms, but they are sparse enough that they can't possibly supply the others within the brecilian forest, meaning gwaren largely relies on trade. which is difficult when there are two (2) ways to reach the main city. this means one of elethea's main goals is improving the brecilian passage as a mode of transport. a canal from the end of the river (the brecilian passage) is dug out into a canal towards the imperial highway/kingsroad to make it more convenient. multiple trade barges make regular journeys up and down the passage, picking up merchants, shipments, etc to bring back to the city. gondola travel, yachting also become popular and stylish in the city proper with this development.
