@starryyvenus I’m too lazy to debunk this in the replies so I’ll do it here bc unlike some people I can actually form a coherent response

(I’ll respond to both comments)
“I’m the books” hi the books, you can call me Moon btw
Did you literally not understand the point of my post?? I asked “Why do people use ‘Snape bullied Harry’ as proof that he was obsessed with Lily?” because it’s a genuine question. The only things you can conclude from “Snape bullied Harry” are that 1. Snape has trauma from James and CO’s severe bullying 2. Snape is a bully 3. Snape hates Harry. His bullying of Harry has nothing to do with Lily nor does it prove he was obsessed. 💀 I’m talking about that very specific claim, try to actually understand what I wrote before seeing the tags “pro Snape” and rambling on with BS.
I don’t care about the prophecy, I don’t care about any of what you said, the point of my post was that “Snape bullied Harry” is not proof that he was obsessed with Lily (let’s pretend for a sec that he actually was obsessed with Lily; either way, that claim isn’t sufficient evidence), because it literally had almost nothing to do with Lily.
I said this in my post:
He bullied Harry because of his copy-paste resemblance to James—someone who’s bullied and assaulted him for years and was portrayed as a hero by pretty much everyone Snape knows. Of course it was wrong of Severus to do, but brushing off the reason as “he got rejected and was obsessed” is just plain incorrect.
This tiny part was enough to understand what the purpose of my post was, and yet here you are bringing up another student whose name I didn’t even mention in said post (Neville), and I highlighted some key parts for that reason. Of course Snape was a bully. Of course Snape bullied other students (the point was that it had nothing to do with Lily 🧍‍♀️). When tf did I say he wasn’t?? You don’t have to bring up “oh well remember that one kid who was real scared of Snape!!” as if I hadn’t heard it a billion other times, I promise you I know who Neville Longbottom is and understand the pain Severus (and other professors, for that matter) put him through. That’s old news.
And btw, Snape “running to their house and holding his best friend’s Lily’s dead body on the ground like a normal non-heartless person in grief ‘instead of helping the baby in the crib’” never happened in the books, it was only in the movies and the movies are not to be considered canon. There goes your argument, thanks for proving your claims aren’t to be trusted <3
I can’t even bother to debunk what this person said bc it genuinely had jack shit to do with my original post 💀
Also leave properly-tagged posts alone. I didn’t mistag or make a single mistake so you have zero reason to be here, let alone pick up an argument out of boredom.
+ in response to your single “?” reply, your original comment has zero proper punctuation and it took me 20 seconds to figure out what you were even trying to say.
Why do people use “Snape bullied Harry” as proof that he was obsessed with Lily? I’ve asked antis this before, and each time I have they’ve always responded with something along the lines of “because she rejected/friendzoned him and he couldn’t let it go.”
This is so weird to me because Snape bullying Harry, as bad as it was, legitimately had almost nothing to do with Lily.
He was forced to face the carbon-copy of someone who assaulted him when he was a teenager everyday, his reaction was due to past-trauma being triggered, not because of some childhood crush that never showed him the time of day. In fact, the whole “Snape was friendzoned” claim seems to be a ploy in order to exonerate James of what he’s done. In addition to making James’s treatment of Lily looking better (contrary to Severus’s supposed obsession), it shifts the dynamic between Severus and Harry and invalidates what he went through, and would make it so James’s canon bullying wouldn’t be brought up and the debate would revolve only around Lily.
You can bash Severus for his treatment of Harry all you want, but that does not give you the right to make bizarre claims and use false evidence to try and bash him for something that never happened and gloss over everything he went through at the hands of the Marauders during his school years.
