Cold Start Engine Tips
Tumblr media
Cold startup is one of the biggest challenges faced by car owners that rent their cars from https://rentalcarsuae.com/. You need to make sure that your car is warm enough so that it can start easily. It is also important to make sure that you do not use the wrong kind of fuel in your vehicle.
Cold start engines
Cold start engines are one of the most important aspects of any vehicle, and you want to make sure that it is functioning correctly.
When starting a car, there are several things that can go wrong. You may notice that your car will not start, or it might take a long time to get started. If you have ever experienced this problem, then you know how frustrating it can be.
This article will discuss some of the most common problems with cold start engines and what you can do about them.
The first thing that you need to do is make sure that your battery is fully charged. When you turn on your car and try to start it, if there is no power coming from the battery, then it will not work properly. This means that all of the electrical components in your car must be working properly as well so that they can transfer power from the battery to each other when needed.
You also need to check for any loose connections or cables inside of your engine compartment. These could cause problems with how well everything works together when trying to start up a cold engine. Make sure they are secure so they will not come loose while driving down the road or while driving at high speeds in cold weather conditions where temperatures drop quickly.
Cold Starting Your Car or Truck
The first thing you will want to do is make sure that all of the fluids in your car or truck are full so that there is no chance of something leaking during this process. If you have checked all of these things already and still do not feel comfortable doing this on your own then it might be best if someone else helped out with this part of the process as well.
Cold Start Engine Tips
Tumblr media
1. Turn off your car and wait at least 10 minutes to allow the engine to cool down before you start it again.
2. Make sure you have full fuel in your tank, and then start your car by putting the key in the ignition and twisting it clockwise as far as it will go (this is called "starting up"). If your car does not start after several attempts, try another method for starting (like turning on a light switch or using a portable battery charger).
3. After starting your engine, check for any leaks by turning on the headlights or looking under the hood for drips or pools of oil or gas. A leaky gas cap is one of the most common causes of overheating problems with a car engine because it allows unburned fuel vapors to escape into the atmosphere instead of being burned inside the engine where they belong.
4. Use clean summer air filters if you have them installed in your vehicle (or buy new ones if yours are dirty). Avoid using paper filters because they absorb moisture from the air and can cause your engine problems over time by restricting airflow through its intake system or causing water condensation to form on moving parts inside your engine.
Clean the Engine Before Starting
The first thing that you need to do is to clean the engine before you start it. This will help in getting rid of any dirt or debris that may be accumulated on the engine part and can cause problems during starting. You can use a hose, brush or anything else that helps in cleaning the engine parts easily.
Check Your Battery
You should also check your battery for any damage before starting up your vehicle since this can cause problems during starting if there are any damages caused by water or other liquids inside the battery compartment. If there are any damages caused by water, then you have to buy new batteries immediately so as not to cause further damage to your vehicle's engine due to lack of power supply from its batteries.
Benefits of Cold Start Engine Tips
Cold start engine tips can be a serious problem for your car. From the moment you start your car, it takes about 15 minutes for the engine to reach its operating temperature. This is a very long time and it’s important that you don’t end up having to wait for an hour or longer to start your car every time you need to go somewhere. With cold start engine tips, you can minimize this waiting time by making sure that your car is always ready when you are.
There are many benefits of cold start engine tips, here are just some:
Reduce the risk of damage caused by overheating: When your engine gets hot, it will cause problems such as overheating. This can result in damage to the engine itself and other parts such as spark plugs and pistons. One way of reducing overheating is by ensuring that there is adequate airflow around the engine so that it doesn’t get too hot while still being able to function properly when needed. A cold start tip will help with this as they are designed with vents which allow air flow around all parts of your car so that they don’t get too hot while also preventing any leakage out of places where.
Check for Oil Leaks
Tumblr media
Another important step that you should take is checking for oil leaks on your vehicle's engine since this can also cause problems during starting if there are any leaks caused by oil leakage on certain parts of engines which could lead to severe damages if left untreated for too long periods of time.
FAQ
What are Cold Start Engine Tips?
Cold start engine tips are tips for cold starting an engine. They include things like using a booster pump to get the air into your engine, using a choke to improve airflow, and using a warm-up period before starting the car.
How do I take care of my cold start engine tips?
You can take care of your cold start engine tips by doing things like warming up the car and then shutting it off after a few minutes. You should also make sure that there are no leaks in your fuel system (for example if you have a leaking fuel line). You should also avoid letting too much antifreeze get into the lines this will increase your chances of freezing them up.
Can I use my cold start engine tips in winter?
Yes! It's even easier because there is less chance of ice forming on surfaces outside compared to other months. However, if you live in an area that gets very cold temperatures regularly or if your car is designed with winter tires on it then you may want to use some other solutions instead (like anti-freeze).

Know the Main Reasons for the Jerks in Your Car
Tumblr media
Generally, jerking in a car is more experienced while accelerating, but it can also happen while starting as well as at normal driving condition. This is a small indication of a larger problem related to the engine and the fuel system of your car. When your car jerks, it's usually a sign of an impending issue and the cause need to be rectified at the earliest in order to minimize the damage and the costs of repair.
There are several reasons which are responsible for the jerking of a car and some of the frequent causes are discussed in this article.
Faulty fuel line
Fuel lines are responsible for the flow of gas throughout the engine system. If it is faulty or if there’s a leak somewhere, the pressure is lost and this causes the car to jerk. Faulty fuel lines can even cause a fire in your engine as big as an explosion.
A disruption in the flow of fuel from the tank to the engine will cause the car to hesitate during acceleration, which will then cause a jerk. So, check for leaks that may have been caused rats chewing off the fuel pipes.
Check for blockage
One of the most common reasons why a car jerks when accelerating is the presence of a blockage. The car’s engine needs both fuel and air to do its work the air mixes with the fine spray of fuel inside the engine and is then lit by the spark plug causing a controlled explosion, which moves the pistons.
The above cycle goes on and on and this is what makes the engine run and drives your car. A block in the fuel line or air intake can make the car jerk during acceleration as it loses one, or even both of the essential factors in keeping the engine running.
Dirty air filter
Air is needed for the internal combustion engine of your car to work. Clean air and clean fuel are important for a hassle-free driving. Keeping the air coming into the engine clean is the air filter’s job as road debris and dirt may accumulate over time making the filter less efficient.
When the filter has become too dirty, there may not be enough air coming into the engine that can cause the car to jerk because of inefficient combustion of the fuel. Air filters are relatively inexpensive and it is even easier to get them replaced.
Moisture accumulation
Moisture in the car’s distributor cap can cause a car to jerk when accelerating. This is a common scenario when the car is parked outdoors and the weather is cold. Moisture can accumulate inside the distributor cap that can cause the engine to misfire, which in turn causes the jerking.
Therefore, it is advised to keep the engine running idle when you park, which in turn helps to keep the engine warm and ward off moisture. And it is better to keep your car in an enclosed parking spot.
Poor voltage supply
The alternator provides the electricity requirements of the car. The battery is only used for the ignition spark and after that, it is the alternator that keeps the continuous flow of the current to the various components of the car. And like any other mechanical device, the alternator is subject to wear which leads to a loss in efficiency.
The fuel pump depends on the alternator for its working voltage required to circulate fuel in the car. So, a weak alternator may not able to provide the desired voltage and this may result in loss of acceleration which causes severe jerking of the car.
Bad spark plugs
The spark plug is what lights up the combined fuel and air inside the engine causing them to ignite and move the pistons. Therefore, an engine requires fully functional spark plugs to work efficiently. Spark plugs need to be replaced regularly. You also may need to check on the spark plug wires for signs of wear and tear.
In the end
Most of the causes of the jerks in a car can be resolved and also easily prevented with regular maintenance. So, when you experience even a little jerk while driving your car, then get it checked at a reputed workshop and get the problem fixed.

How Do I Clean the Condenser Line of the York Stellar HVAC in a Condo Unit?
Have preventive maintenance scheduled with a local A/C company. They run for about $70-$80. Sounds like your evaporator is dirty causing your drain line to back up.
If you schedule, tell the tech your issue and he'll know what to do. If wanna do it your self turn off the disconnect. Ensure POWER IS OFF!
Find the blower panel and open it. You'll find a coil and there is the drain pan. Vacuum the pan and PVC or copper drain pipe and you should be good to go.
If the coil is dirty, use a soft brush to clean it. As long as you don't use water you won't damage anything. If it sounds like to much work leave it to the pros.
• Related Questions Rheem RAKB-030JAZ AC fan did not come on on the AC unit it self. the unit is a 2005 and i tested it today. If you're talking about the outdoor fan then yes it should come on with the compressor.
It's more than likely wired into the same contactor as the compressor. If you can hear the compressor running but the fan isn't spinning, then it's more than likely a bad fan motor or a faulty run capacitor. With the unit TURNED OFF, stick a screw driver through the opening of the fan guard and see if you can give the fan blade a spin.
If it doesn't turn freely, then the bearings are frozen up. If it does spin, then you probably have a problem with the motor wiring. Either way, if you don't know about motors or electrical wiring, then you'll need to have an HVAC tech come out and replace the part ------ 1997 Ford Escort fan won't work?
I rather have been having the comparable undertaking with my 97 escort and that i took it to the broker and that they pronounced i choose a clean ccrm and pcm for $1200! i did no longer have it fixed and introduced the motor vehicle homestead and parked it for one week. I placed a completely charged battery interior the motor vehicle and heard a click from below the hood and then no longer something.
the motor vehicle won't turn over, no sprint lighting fixtures fixtures. Any suggestions? I had planned on changing the ccrm first to work out if that should restoration the fan and gasoline pump subjects yet now i'm questioning if this new undertaking is probable appropriate or no longer and if I ought to provide up?
Any advice could be favored ------ new window ac unit starting to stink . Sounds like the condensate isn't draining properly. You will need to remove the unit and clean the housing with something like Mr Clean or a good disinfectant.
You have mildew building up in the system. Then you need to make sure the drain is not plugged and that the unit has a slight angle down at the back this will promote a good drain off of the condensate. Getting a new one doesn't help is it doesn't drain.
It wouldn't hurt to take it outside and wash the condenser off (little radiator with fins) with a spray bottle of the cleaning solution then rinse it off. Don't soak the front end but wash the unit spraying from the inside to the out this will clean it. Of call an A/C guy and tell him you need a window unit cleaned.
------ Is there a way to convert a small window unit ac to NOT hang out of the window? It can be done, theoretically, but you have a mountain of issues to overcome, the first being insulating the conventional window unit, as it will be indoors and will sound like a 707 in take off mode. Next you have to provide a fresh air intake for the condenser and a subsequent exhaust which must go to the outside and be separated by some distance in order to obtain some degree of efficiency.
Lastly will be the condensation drain and pump to get riff of all the water. IF it were me, I would find a small window unit that could fit into a portable freezer chest, providing sound insulation and water containment, then design it around that, cutting holes where needed etc. 5000 btu AC unit 99.
00 Freezer chest 18.00 Condenser and intake and exhaust insulated flex attic hose 10.00 Small water pump 10.
00 Good luck, let me know how it turns out. ------ Why does home ac condenser fan get very noisy when wet? How do you know the water isn't getting in the motor?
Just because you bought a new one? The same one? I watched that clip (nice work on that by the way ) about a dozen times of right when the water first hits the fan.
That sound I'm hearing the motor make between when its running good til when its running bad sounds as though the motor is going to sieze up but instead it just keeps running loud. Check to see if the motor runs any hotter once its wet. Or check the amp draw when its wet the see if its pulling more than the design.
I'm thinking that even though its a new motor your still getting water in somewhere through the shaft possibly and rinsing some oil away from the bearings. ------ my ac made a blow up and then it made like a noise like it was hitting something and then it stop working? You blew a seal in the compressor.
That is also something that most places will ticket for. For leaking Ac fluid into the air. Go without or get it replaced.
If the car or truck is more that 14 years old you will more then likely have to replace more than just the compressor or whatever it is, because of the updated version of ac fluid those cars were not meant to run that. So be prepared for a outstanding bill. You do have the option of replacing just the line or compressor, dryer, condenser what ever it was that blew.
And go to a auto swap meet and pick up some vintage ac fluid if your car is that old. It work but one day if your car is that old you will have to convert the whole system. ------ What burns more gas, turning on the heat or the AC?
In any regards, whether house or car or whatever, the AC would take much more energy to run. Heat is produced by the car engine, so there is no need for a separate heater, just a coil to collect it (so that the exhaust does not enter the cabin of the vehicle). But for a car's AC, there needs to be a separate pump and a condenser, which puts friction on the engine belt.
This causes a decrease in power and the engine must compensate by burning more gas. In a house, it works along the same principle; you just need a fan and a gas/electric heater to get heat. But for an AC, you need the pump, compressor, and the fan.
And three items usually take up more energy than two. ------ Converting ac to heat pump? the warmth pump unit does have a condenser, used in the summertime to chill out, and it condenses the freon, which makes it cooler.
the warmth pump unit additionally has a unfold valve which expands the freon molecules, while accelerated the freon motives friction on it self, which produces warmth. the warmth pump fan on the condenser, exterior sucks in the out part air to heat the freon on the out part unit. The freon temp is dispersed on the blower int he domicile on the air handler.
you're turning out to be warmth strips, which use electricity and are commonly 220 volts which makes use of a lot of electricity, and commonly designed in basic terms while the out part air is extremely chilly, or in am emergency. the warmth strips may well be became manually any time. ------ my furnace/ac keeps icing up when i run my ac ihave let it keeps getting worse though?
You need a KNOWLEDGEABLE tech to troubleshoot the problem. 1. Low on freon 2.
Restricted line going to the condenser. Make sure that if the tech says you are low on freon, that he will give you FULL credit with the service call if the freon doesn't fix the problem. That's the most common thing that techs do to fix icing problems because it is cheap (for them) and quick.
That has been my experience with the techs. And if you are low on freon, make sure they find and fix the leak. AC systems are sealed and should not lose freon regardless of what the "experts" say.
My AC had a restriction in the line going to the condenser causing it to ice up. The restriction acted like an expansion valve that's mounted just before the evaporator. ------ Why doesn't my AC unit turn on?
This could be a few things .It is hard to diagnose without see the unit first hand . Check these things first 1 capacitor is round sliver or gray it is inside the service door of the condenser (shut off power at breaker box) look for the cap to be leaking oil , also look for a swollen cap these are signs of a bad cap.
2 check for ants in the contactor the contactor is also in the condenser service door. This can be located by following the high voltage line from house to contactor be sure no ants are in or around the contactor These are just a couple of things that could be wrong your condenser. It is most likely still a parts warranty any professional HVAC company should be able to warranty faulty part (ants are not covered ) ------ what would be a main cause of the ac unit not blowing cold air?
Some things you can check yourself. Are the circuit breakers on not off or in the mid position for the A/C unit outside? If you turn on the A/C, does the outside unit (called the condenser) does the fan on top of it start spinning?
Inside, how dirty is your filter? Is your cold air intake unblocked, no boxes, pictures or furniture blocking it? Outside on the condenser, it has coils on 3 sides that look like car radiator coils.
Are they blocked by debris or dirt? Cottonwood fuzzies clog up anA/C condenser quickly. They can be removed with a garden hose IF YOU TURN OFF THE CIRCUIT BREAKERS FIRST.
After that, it's time for a tech if the issue is not resolved Good Luck ------ ac condenser not doing its job after a new motor install, no heat coming off it and not sending cold out? in this instance a picture would be worth it. We'll say you have the fan wired in correctly because it does come on and run (I hope it is running off the run windings and not the start windings).
But I still think you have one capacitor to many. What I would take an amp reading on the compressor at start up. If you get nothing.
TURN THE POWER OFF TO THE UNIT. Then take the top off the condenser and make sure a wire hasn't burned itself off the compressor. If it has reattach wire.
If not you'll have to figure out the capacitors. The old one on top if it has three terminal blocks should be marked C Common Herm compressor Fan Fan Good luck ------ What is the problem with my ac, my condenser fan motor will not turn but the compressor comes on? in this occasion a photograph may well be well worth it.
we are going to say you have the fan under pressure in wisely because of the fact it does come on and run (i desire that is working off the run windings and not the commencing up windings). yet I nevertheless think of you have one capacitor to many. What i might take an amp examining on the compressor at initiate.
in case you get no longer something. turn the potential OFF TO THE UNIT. Then take the right off the condenser and make optimistic a twine hasn't burned itself off the compressor.
If it has reattach twine. If no longer you will might desire to determine the capacitors. The old one on perfect if it has 3 terminal blocks might desire to be marked C common Herm compressor Fan Fan stable success

It matters little whether they're manufactured in North America or to another country. Patio heater prices are determined largely from your quality and has offered. The truth is that, as market needs have increased, patio heater prices have dropped over time. What was once a specialty item sold through specialty fireplace and patio furniture shops, turns out to be readily available through retail outlets everywhere, including online vendors. A heater that once sold for $650 or more is now as little as $199. But over the course of time, what has happened to product integrity? Have you considered the quality of materials, technology, reliability and performance and ensure? Also check all drafts and increase insulation. For people with old windows, consider replacing them with storm computers. Having good insulation can make a huge difference, particularly it is windy open-air. After learning the importance and purpose of a heater core, it needs to be a known proven fact that one should only trust the name of Volvo for this matter. Thus, HeatBuddy Personal Heater the Volvo Heater Core is particular provide the efficiency that the car engine needs. The Volvo Heater Core cools the heated coolant of this engine, the idea act like a radiator in the engine. The Volvo Heater Core manufactured up of small piping that has several bends. Clogging of the piping may occur if your coolant is actually not purged. Or sometimes, if your coolant is not changed recurrently. If clogging occurs, the Volvo Heater Core will not function prudently. Burner Go. Cheaper brands use a "drum style" burner, which distributes heat outward to prospects zone, all while wasting up to 50% of heat energy towards open air without reaching the target area. By stark contrast, EvenGlo any multi-faceted burner head that maximizes useable heat output by shooting a torch style infrared flame into a collector, which in turn bounces heat energy both downward to some "bottom feeder" and upward to large mushroom dispenser. In fact, the patented EvenGlo reflector reflects approximately 58% more useable heat energy to the people zone! This burner head is unmatched by any competitive lotion. The next issue you must consider may be the fresh air intake. For those who have a traditionally vented Heater (i.e. a heater at this point gravity vented through a chimney in your home) to relieve that a down draft is occurring due into the fresh air intake being plugged. If your Fresh air intake vents at the foot of the Heater are plugged with debris the heater may pull its discuss through the chimney vent. This may cause the pilot flame to be extinguished. Resolve this issue you have to have clean your air intake vents at the base of the heater and relight the pilot. But the most important factor that you take into thorough consideration is the tankless heater's capacity to supply water. Have to take note on what number of gallons a minute each out of which one heater can put out. If you may be using more than one appliances require hot water at you shouldn't time, substantial handmade heater that includes a relatively high GPM payment. You should keep a door seal repair kit always ready. It contains a tube of liquid adhesive and a length of fire proof rope-like chord. A person have can look at the light of this fire through the edge with the door when the door seal is located, repair is desirable. The heater could support in making your backyard more than just a lonely corner at your own home. With this heater, it could become one of the best hang out places for friends and relatives even though the travel long over. Given the sort of warmth this particular heater could give, you'd think that the summer season has not even ended. Considerably other heaters of Uniflame, this heater has been designed to help people have fun with the most of this outdoor by letting them watch the summer warmth much lengthy. Considering that the heater was made to last longer, ascertain never to be able to worry about getting cold for a long, very long.

Pairing: Kim Namjoon x Reader Genre: Fluff Word Count: 2.4k
Prompt: “We’re in line for the same ride at the fair, the seats are made for two people, and our friends ditched us, so wanna ride together?”
Surprise Prompt: “You’re a genius with facts, but you’re really stupid with people.”
A/N: Here it is! The collab featuring me, @daegusoftboys, and @haneulismykoreanname (check out her amazing moodboard) for the @kpoptrashnetwork October Fall Members’ Project! Enjoy! xoxo
It’s a Friday night and you’re being dragged to the fair, the smell of popcorn and funnel cakes permeating your nose as you weave through the crowds of people already circulating the grounds.
“Why do I even need to be here,” you grumble, pout on your lips as a little kid screams in victory nearby.
Your best friend can only laugh, “Because it’s Friday and because there’s no work for us this weekend and because it’ll be fun. We’re meeting up with Jin and his friends so at least I finally get to see a face that isn’t yours.”
That stops you in your tracks, blood running cold and your throat closing up. “What?”
She can only look at you like you’ve grown another head, “What do you mean ‘what’? I told you this morning that they were coming. You were working on some biology homework or whatever. You know, that difficult class you have this semester since you love excess mind usage for some reason. You nodded and bit off the end of another pencil. You don’t remember?”
“Does it look like I remember? If I was actually listening, I would’ve said absolutely hell to the no and I wouldn’t have come! Namjoon will be there!”
She raises one eyebrow as if saying so? which causes you to groan out loud. “Focus. Kim Namjoon. One of Seokjin’s best friends? He’s in my microbiology class and I’ve liked him since sophomore year. It’s like you’re not even my best friend, shouldn’t you know things like this?”
She grabs your hand and you continue on, much to your dismay, “For your information, I did in fact know that because I am your best friend. I just don’t see why it matters much. You’ve shared short, precise conversations since you’ve met and you’ve never once made a move. You don’t even flirt! Tonight we’ll be in a large group so don’t worry. Just try to relax and have a good time.  You have three papers due in the next few weeks so I know you won’t come out for some fun until they’re all finished.”
You feel a little guilty at the declaration of your study and homework habits, following her lead until the Ferris wheel hovers ahead and she squeals in delight. You can make out six boys waiting, Jin’s face lighting up as you both come closer. “You guys made it!”
You wave hello, “I was more dragged by the collar of my favorite hoodie but…it’s good to be out. Thanks for the invite.”
He shrugs, “Hey, no problem. We’ve all had busy weeks, Joon thought it’d be cool to spend at least one night out in the real world with fair food and good company.”
You smile in agreement, eyes searching for the one boy that was missing, “Speaking of…where is Joon anyway?”
Jungkook throws a strong arm over your shoulder, “Why? Our resident brainiac looking for him?”
You turn a heated gaze at your best friend, her tongue sticking out as if to mock you, “Oh please, she didn’t even have to say anything. You become a shy little turtle when he’s around. You’re not the subtle type.”
You become a little panicked when everyone ends up agreeing, choking down the fear that Namjoon himself knows, right when he shows up by your side, drink in hand. “Hi. You…okay? You look a little pale.”
You blink at him, shaking your head. “I’m…I’m fine. Promise,” you’re able to say without your voice breaking.
You try to calm yourself down when you feel your heart skip a beat. “So? Ah…how about that Ferris wheel, huh? Let’s go,” you say, stumbling over your words and temporarily forgetting that you’re afraid of heights.
You’re the first one in line, Namjoon following closely behind. It’s almost your turn when your best friend insists that you pay for your tickets separately. You’re about to complain but the lady in the booth says, “Next please!”, a little too impatiently.
You reluctantly pay and move aside to let Namjoon pay for his. Before you know it, they’ve all bought their tickets — with four of the boys already in their respective seats. Jungkook, Jin and your best friend shoot you a meaningful grin.
The ‘you’ll thank me later’ kind of grin, before walking away without another word.
You’re beyond speechless when you realize that this means you’ll have to ride the Ferris wheel with Namjoon. Alone. So much for your plan to ride with your best friend.
You look at Namjoon who looks just as puzzled at what happened. He shrugs and smiles, revealing the most beautiful pair of dimples you’ve ever seen. “Guess it’s just the two of us, Y/N.”
“Are you guys riding or what?” one of the workers asks annoyingly.
You awkwardly take your seat, avoiding Namjoon’s gaze as your hands start to become clammy, beads of sweat starting to appear on your forehead. Suddenly a ten page essay on the layers of cells in your microbiology class and presenting it to the entire student body feels like a walk in the park compared to your predicament.
You get higher as they gather more passengers to occupy the empty seats and you feel the butterflies in your stomach go wild. But you’re not really sure if it’s due to the adrenaline of being high up or simply because Namjoon is there next to you. You try your hardest to keep it to yourself to avoid embarrassing you both.
“So…what’s up? I mean, how’s school?”
Dammit! Trust me to sound like a concerned parent, you think. flinching at your words.
You look away as you see him grinning, as if he can read your mind and agrees with your line of thought.
“Life is great but school is hectic as hell. We’re actually working on our papers due next week Seokjin decided that a night away from all the homework would improve our productivity.” He smiles, dimples making another pleasant appearance. “What about you, Y/N? What made you decide to go out on such a busy time at school,” he says, voice teasing.
“Oh come on, “ you reply, rolling your eyes, “as if you don’t know…ah!”
The pitch of your voice rises at the sudden movement of the Ferris wheel, announcing an acceleration. As it gains speed, you feel your stomach churn at the same pace.
Worry is written all over his face as he leans forward. “Y/N? You okay? You…look pale. Do you want to go down?”
“I’m…okay. Just a little afraid of heights but I’m cool as long as I don’t look down.” You smile to assure him. “I was just startled by the sudden movement, that’s all.”
“Let’s just look at the stars then,” he smiles. He looks up at the sky as you slow down at the top. “Aren’t they beautiful?”
You mimic his movement, head titling towards the sky. “Yeah…and the city looks beautiful, too.” The smell of autumn breeze fills your nostrils, calming down a little. You almost forget how terrified you are when the machine starts to move again.
But this time you’re not as scared because you feel Namjoon’s hands over yours, clutching at the handle as if for dear life. The feel of his warm hands is making your heart pound so fast you’re afraid it might rip your chest open.
The sick feeling inside your stomach is now forgotten, your brain focusing on how his hand grips yours tighter as the ride moves at its fastest. He scoots closer until your shoulders touch. He gives you a warm and calming dimpled smile as if he’s telling you to relax and that everything will be okay because he’s there with you. The loud rhythm of your beating heart is drowning out the crowd, the lively loud music, the shrieks and screams. Suddenly the world stops; it’s just the two of you, hands intertwined. with only the stars, the moon, and the cool evening air as your company.
“Namjoon, I-” you start, blood rushing to your cheeks in anticipation of your next move. He quirks an eyebrow questioningly, seemingly unaware of the inner turmoil his dimples are creating. It’s the perfect setting to spill your guts, the perfect moment to finally let yourself speak the words you been practicing late at night for months. “I’ve been meaning to tell you something,” you start, casting your gaze at the lonely hand in your lap. “I’m-”
Suddenly your seat swings violently, propelling you forward as it rocks back and forth dangerously. The Ferris wheel has stopped turning, a loud creak from the engine telling you this isn’t part of its usual routine. Namjoon looks at you, alarmed. Your confession dies in your throat, now constricted by the terror filling your lungs. “What the-”, he says, throwing a look over his shoulder to see if he can spot any of your friends. You can hear Jungkook yelling, stringing random curse words together and screaming them into the void. He’s at close distance but it sounds a million miles away.
You feel dizzy. A heat rises up your spine causing you to pull your hand from Namjoon’s, its weight too heavy on your skin. He grimaces at the loss of contact but realizes your change in demeanor isn’t because of him, as soon as you lock eyes - your own grown to the size of saucers. “Namjoon,” you breathe, “I think - I think I’m having a panic attack.”
“Uh - shit, I -” he stutters, his hands all over the place in a frantic attempt to remain calm. “Stay calm, breathe. And uh -” Namjoon freezes, his mind going over every possible article and post he’s ever read about the situation, mentally checking off tips on the list. “Tell me what you need.”
“I need to get the fuck down,” you choke, breath still unstable as both your hands are now glued to the handles, your frame frozen in place. Namjoon is surprised at your use of language as he’s never heard you swear before. He’s slightly amused, even, before he remembers you’re about to pass out if he doesn’t get you to regulate your oxygen intake.
“Are you seriously laughing at me right now?” you snarl, your eyes still locked on his face to keep yourself from looking down.
The seat has stopped rocking. A loud voice booms through the intercom, announcing a technical difficulty. “Please, remain calm. The issue will be resolved soon,” a voice tells you, almost tauntingly. Namjoon bites his lip, trying to suppress a smile.
“I’ve never seen this side of you Y/N,” he says, not able to help himself. “You’re always so…sweet and shy around me.”
You try to inhale, shaking your head at his comment. Your eyes shift from him to the nauseating height difference between you and the ground. “You’re a genius with facts, but you’re really stupid with people Joon,” you manage to reply in between shaky breaths. “Now - is not - the time - to get cute with me.”
He chuckles, reclaiming your hand as you glare at him. His eyes are sparkling, the lights illuminating the fair reflected in them.
“Breathe. You can do this. Listen to me,” he says, moving his hands from yours to cup your cheeks, forcing you to focus on his face. “Count with me. One… two…”
Your chest falls and rises with a dangerous speed. “One, two,” you repeat after him. “Three…concentrate on your breathing,” he continues, his eyes never leaving yours.
“Three. Joon,” you say, panic enveloping your chest again. “I can’t do this.”
At first he doesn’t respond. His mind is racing, finally halting at a solution he’s seen in a film somewhere. He swallows and tightens his grip on your cheeks, making sure you stay in place. He promptly leans forward, pressing his lips to yours. Your eyes widen at the sudden contact, a whirlwind of emotions taking over your mind. The distraction causes your attention to shift from your rapid breathing to Namjoon’s warm mouth.
Your eyes fall shut as you ease into it, his lips moving against yours gently. For a split second you forget the predicament you’re in, his softness the only thing your mind allows you to think about. It’s just long enough to regain your composure, your erratic breathing slowing to a safer pace.
Even then, Namjoon doesn’t move. His hands release some pressure from your cheeks, his thumbs now tentatively caressing your cheekbones. You remain like this for another heartbeat or two, before he pulls back reluctantly. Somewhere in the distance you can faintly make out a whooping noise, an encouraging “GET IT, BOY!” coming from someone who sounds suspiciously like Taehyung.
Namjoon’s lips still hover over yours, his breath warm on your skin as he sighs. His forehead bumps against yours as you breathe steady, not being able to stop a smile from appearing. You can hear him chuckle even though your eyes are still closed.
“That wasn’t exactly how I imagined our first kiss,” he mumbles against your cheek.
At once, you can feel yourself blushing, the blood rushing to your face coloring your cheeks an adorable pink. You lean back, putting enough distance between you both to lock eyes with him. “Namjoon, I -”
“We don’t have to talk about it right now,” he says, shooting you a shy lopsided smile. “I think this is a conversation more comfortably held on lower ground.”
You nod in agreement, pursing your lips as your gaze wanders to the edge of your seat. “I mean, I could use a little more of that distraction,” you dare him.
Namjoon releases a short, heartfelt laugh before pulling you closer. His kiss feels even warmer than the last one, all hesitation gone and replaced by meaning.
Your seat gently rocks back and forth as the Ferris wheel engine kicks back to life, and you catch yourself wishing you never had to come down.

Ways to make your car last longer
The RAC's top tips for prolonging your car’s life and keeping running costs down.
RAC have compiled 13 detailed, but easy-to-follow, tips to help you make your car more efficient, nicer to drive and last longer.
Many seem like straightforward common sense, but you’d be surprised how few drivers adhere to them all.
1. Change filters regularly
Your car’s oil filter and air filter become clogged over time, thus renewing them regularly is important.
They should be replaced as part of scheduled servicing, but both are relatively simple jobs – particularly an air filter swap – so you may wish to attempt them yourself. You could save money on servicing if so.
You can often prolong the life of the air filter by washing it, too.
Consult your handbook for advice on filter cleaning and changes, and be sure to use genuine parts. Cheap, poor quality filters could damage your engine in the longer term.
2. Drive smoothly… most of the time
Driving with mechanical sympathy is something you should practise regardless of whether the engine has warmed up.
Doing so will reduce wear and eke out more miles per tankful. Smooth inputs through the major controls – steering wheel, gearbox and pedals – are key, along with looking well ahead to reduce the need for sudden braking.
The RAC’s top fuel tips guide offers many more tips to improve your driving style to get the most out of your car and its fuel economy.
That said, if you never rev your engine fully, carbon deposits can build up and foul the valves, intake manifold and other parts, reducing efficiency and potentially causing a misfire.
You should, therefore, allow your engine to rev to the redline at least once every few hundred miles – but only when the oil is warm and you’re on a quiet road.
Diesel cars may also have problems with clogged diesel particulate filters (DPFs), which are designed to trap harmful exhaust emissions.
A longer motorway run once a month will help clear them.
3. Use your air conditioning
‘Use it or lose it’ is a phrase that could be applied to air conditioning.
Air-con systems inevitably leak refrigerant gas over time, particularly if they aren’t used regularly.
Leaving your air-con off may save fuel, but you could end up with a bill for re-gassing instead.
And yes, that means occasionally letting your vents blow cold in winter, too.
4. Replace spark plugs and leads
As cars become ever more complicated, drivers are – understandably – less inclined to do their own servicing.
However, replacing spark plugs and high-tension leads is another straightforward job you can do yourself to optimise your engine's performance, but you should always consult your vehicle handbook beforehand and stick to the service schedule.
When inspecting a spark plug check that it is has a light brown electrode and insulator, there are no signs of melting and no signs of wear or deposits.
A spark plug in a poor condition either indicates wear over time and needs replacing, or can hint at the condition of your engine.
If the plug is relatively new and has developed a significant gap between the electrode and the insulator then it could be an indicator that the engine is underperforming. If that's the case you should consult a reputable garage.
If the leads have cracks or show signs of heavy wear they should be replaced. We recommend using a reputable garage to carry this out, however, if you have the experience and feel confident enough then you should ensure you follow your vehicle handbook's guidelines.
Obviously this point doesn’t apply to diesel cars as they don’t use spark plugs.
5. Top up fluids regularly
Fluids are your car’s lifeblood, and failing to replenish them may have dire consequences.
Check your engine oil once a fortnight by opening the bonnet and removing the dipstick.
The oil level should be between the minimum and maximum markers – and a light yellowy-brown colour if your car has a petrol engine.
Dark, dirty oil should be replaced. Note, however, that diesel engine oil accumulates soot as part of the normal combustion process, so dark-coloured oil isn’t a cause for alarm with a diesel car.
Other areas to check fortnightly include the coolant reservoir – top up with 50% distilled water and 50% antifreeze – and the windscreen washer bottle.
We recommend a shop-bought screenwash for the latter.
Don’t be tempted to use washing-up liquid: it contains salt and other additives that will damage the paintwork.
6. Check your tyres
Tyres are arguably your car’s most important safety feature. Thus, it’s no exaggeration to say that checking them regularly – aim for once a week – could save your life. It could also save you money.
Under-inflated tyres will increase fuel consumption, so keep them topped up to the recommended pressures listed in your car’s handbook.
Remember, tyre pressures may be different for the front and rear tyres. Some car experts suggest rotating your tyres (i.e. swapping the fronts to the rear, and vice versa) in order to even out wear and prolong tyre life.
However, in the interests of safety, we recommend using the least-worn tyres on the back axle, as loss of front grip (understeer) is much is easier to manage than a rear-end slide (oversteer).
Having your car’s wheels professionally aligned may reduce tyre wear, too – with the added benefits of improved steering response and handling.
7. Stick to the service schedule
Regular servicing is vital to keep your car in tip-top condition and prolong its life.
Service intervals are based on time or kilometres driven – once a year or every 10,000 miles, for example.
Check the handbook to find out when your car is due to a service and what work is required.
Many modern cars have warning lights on the dashboard to alert you when maintenance is needed, too.
Broadly speaking, you should budget for a ‘minor’ service once a year and a ‘major’ service every two or three years.
A minor service includes changing the oil and oil filter and replacing other fluids if necessary.
Depending on the car and mileage, a major service may also cover replacement of the air filter, spark plugs and cambelt.
The number of tasks included in even a minor service is numerous, but all should include checks for oil and fluid leaks, tyre pressures and condition, excessive exhaust emissions, brake wear, and the correct operation of the steering, gearbox, clutch, suspension, lights, wipers and horn.
8. Keep your car clean
We all know people who never wash their car. Perhaps you’re one of them.
But keeping your car clean isn’t simply about the pride of ownership: it can significantly extend its life, too.
Grit and grime gets into moving parts and the chassis, leading to accelerated wear and corrosion.
Winter road salt is especially corrosive, while bird droppings play havoc with paintwork.
Take your car to a hand wash, or simply do it yourself. Automated car washes have stiff brushes that may leave fine scratches – plus they miss bits, too.
Use a proper cleaning solution rather than washing-up liquid and dry the car using a soft chamois.
Polish the paintwork at least once a year to provide a layer of protection and attend to stone chips promptly to prevent rust spreading.
It’s also important to keep the inside of your car clean.
Using a protective spray on the dashboard plastics reduces the likelihood of cracking or discolouration. Placing a sunshade in the windscreen on bright days helps here, too.
9. Keep it covered
Many of us have garages, but how many actually use them? OK, we’ll rephrase that: how many actually store cars in them?
As cars become larger and more corrosion-resistant, most are left on a driveway or road, with the garage effectively becoming an extension of the loft or garden shed.
Well, consider this your excuse for a clearout. Parking your car in a garage keeps it dry, clean and safe, reducing the risks of accidental damage, vandalism and theft.
It’s likely to cut your insurance premium, too. If you don’t have use of a garage, consider buying a high-quality car cover instead – particularly if you leave your car parked for long periods of time.
10. Keep the weight down
Carrying extra weight is a surefire way to dent your car’s fuel economy.
You’ll also put additional strain on wear-and-tear parts such as tyres, brakes and suspension bushes.
However, while it’s tempting to make the kids walk, a more practical solution is simply to remove any unnecessary objects from the car.
Start with the door pockets and glovebox, then look under the seats for any stray toys or drink bottles.
Moving on to the boot, clear out everything you don’t need. Just remember to leave the toolkit, jack and locking wheel nut key in case of emergencies.
11. Maintain your car’s battery
If you don’t use your car for long periods of time, the battery will degrade and go flat.
Jump-starting the car then puts additional strain on this essential component, and may damage the engine management system and other delicate electronics: a double-whammy of increased wear.
Consider using a trickle charger to keep the battery topped-up if your car is garaged.
If not, try to drive your car at least once a week – particularly in winter. Batteries don’t like cold weather too much!
12. Don’t scrimp on parts
Manufacturers cover millions of miles and spend billions on R&D to ensure their cars are as reliable as possible. So why put that in jeopardy with inferior-quality ‘pattern’ parts just to save a few pounds?
Using original parts could actually save you money in the long-run by keeping your car on the road.
And when it comes to classic cars in particular, originality is key to future value.
Giving your car the best also applies to the fluids you use.
Choose the engine oil recommended in the handbook and if you have a performance car that needs ‘premium’ fuel (e.g. super unleaded), use it.
That’s what the car has been designed and developed for.
13. Have your car rust-proofed
Modern cars are very rust-resistant, but metal corrosion is the number-one killer of vehicles built in the 1990s or before.
Once it sets in, many simply won’t be economical to repair.
If you see rust spots on your car, don’t wait for them to develop – at the very least, cover the exposed bodywork with touch-up paint before getting it professionally resprayed.
Applying a stone-deflecting film to the front of your car could prevent paintwork damage in the first place.
You could also have the chassis properly rust-proofed, which includes filling the cavities with a waxy substance designed to prevent water ingress.
Like all the tips here, it could save you money in the long-run.
14. Resist the temptation to modify
Modifying your car is likely to make it less reliable and shorten its life: fact.
Tuning the engine for more power puts extra strain on components, including the brakes if you drive faster as a result.
And stiffer, sportier suspension causes additional wear to the chassis, subframes and bushes.
Remember too, that money spent on modifications probably won’t increase the value of your car.
Indeed, the opposite is often true. Since depreciation is frequently the biggest cost involved in running a car, reducing the resale value shouldn’t be taken lightly.
Remember the above applies to pre-owned vehicles too! If you’re in the market and looking at cars for sale Cape Town or around - make sure you buy from a reputable dealership like Group 1 Cars to be sure you’re buying a quality used car for sale.

Signs that You Have a Failing Mass Air Flow Sensor
Tumblr media
The mass air flow sensor (MAF) is a critical component in your car’s fuel injection system. It sits nicely between the air filter and the intake manifold, carefully measuring the amount of air that’s being drawn into the engine to drive the combustion. The sensor sends the information to the Engine Control Unit (ECU), which in turn delivers the correct amount of fuel to the engine. As the sensor picks up different information about air density, temperature and other variables, it ensures that the engine functions at the most efficient level.
How Does a MAF Work?
The mass air flow sensor is relatively simple. It contains two wires. One is hot and one is cold. The system measures how much energy is needed for the cold wire to feel the heat from the hot wire; a value that is impacted by the amount of air flowing between the two wires, and thus it adjusts the air flow into the engine accordingly.
Why Does a MAF Malfunction?
Over time the sensor will degrade and become increasingly prone to failure. Because the part is constantly exposed to rushing air, full of pollutants such as dirt and exhaust fumes from other vehicles on bigger roads, it can become dirty, stopping it from functioning correctly. Or in a worst case scenario, a voltage surge could fry the circuits, stopping it from transmitting information to the ECU.
Symptoms of a Malfunctioning MAF
Be aware of the following signs that could indicate that the mass air flow sensor in your engine is failing:
Check Engine Light Illuminates
Without question the most common sign you’re having problems with the sensor is the check engine light. However, this could blink for a number of reasons, which are not all connected to air flow.  Have the car’s error codes scanned. If the codes range from P0100 to P0104 this indicates that there is something wrong with the sensor. Damaged or faulty sensors will have the codes P0171 or P0174.
Lean Idling
Is your car is running lean? Which means it’s struggling for power and perhaps stalling more this could mean you’re getting too much air in the engine and insufficient fuel? Too much air means that the combustion process won’t work properly. This is usually caused by a dirt build up on the wires in the sensor. Get the wires cleaned by a technician, which should restore the sensor to full working capacity.
Engine Not Starting Properly
Are you having trouble getting the car started? If the engine is turning over and the battery is fine then it could be due to a bad mix of air and fuel. Possibly because the ECU cannot measure the air flow coming into the engine. Check it’s not the spark plugs first and then get a professional to look at the sensor.
Engine Drags
Experiencing problems when you add an extra load to the car? This can be because the car needs more fuel. If the mass air flow sensor is playing up, then the powertrain control module will not be able to determine the optimal air fuel mix, which in turn causes the engine to suffer and drag.
Delayed Acceleration
Another function of the car’s performance that’s likely to suffer under a bad sensor is the acceleration. If fuel cannot reach the engine fast enough because the air flow sensor is not picking up the correct viscosity and density of the air, especially when it starts coming into the engine at higher speeds, then the fuel air mix will once again be upset.
Excessive Fuel Consumption
Noticed that you have to fill the car up with more fuel? If you’re making more refuelling stops than seems normal, then the mass air flow sensor could be the culprit. A faulty sensor might be sending incorrect information to the power-train control module (PCM), which in turn could be causing the vehicle to burn through fuel at a higher than normal rate of consumption.
Smell of Unburned Fuel from Exhaust
A failing mass air flow sensor could well be delivering too much fuel to the engine. If this is the case then unburned fuel could spill out in your exhaust, causing the smell of fuel in the air around your car.

Cleaning the Mass Air Flow Sensor
The majority of the problems on our list are caused by a build-up of dirt and debris on the sensor wires. Ideally you’ll be checking this part twice a year or every six months. Many mechanics also recommend you also change the air filter when you’re performing the check. Anyone with a little mechanical knowledge can complete this job:
You’ll need: standard flat head screwdriver, plastic bag, cleaning alcohol and a sensor cleaner.
1.      Remove the sensor
You should be able to find the sensor in the air-box and can remove it using a flathead screwdriver. Be incredibly careful not to break any of the wires during the removal process.
2.      Clean the sensor
Either use the cleaner spray on the sensor or simply put it in a plastic bag and gently rub it with alcohol until the part is free from dirt and debris.
3.      Reinstall the sensor
Let the sensor dry in the air before refitting it into the air box. Take you car out for a test drive and you should notice an increase in engine response and performance
If Nothing Else Works…
It may be the case that cleaning process fails to get the sensor working at normal levels of performance, in which case the chances are that the part has completely broken. In such instances we would strongly recommend you replace your mass air flow sensor. Fortunately this is a relatively easy task – if you give yourself a little time and patience.

@tmntflashfic‘s january challenge is “old friends, new futures,” so i wrote a new installment of my Closer AU because why not

x
You aren't there when Mike shows his brothers the college acceptance letter. His bright, surprised delight left an impression in your house, a happy shadow that you wish you could bottle and keep, and similarly it seemed to lend him courage enough to face his family on his own.
You pace the whole house five times that night waiting for a phone call, nerves curdling sickly in the pit of your stomach—because you know Mike in the same way a compass knows true north, you know when something's wrong—and two hours after Mike left after dinner, he shows back up at your front door.
His eyes are red, sticky tear-tracks obvious even in the porch light. You shove open the screen door and wrap your arms around him. You trapped his hands between the two of you, so he can't hug you back—but he curls into your chest with a soft, sad intake of air, and presses his face into the warm hollow of your neck and shoulder, and curls shaking fingers into the front of your shirt.
You hold him for what feels like a long time.
“They don't want me to go,” he tells you miserably over a mug of hot cocoa. You meet your grandma's eyes over the top of his head. Her lips are pressed into a firm line, the dark blue of her eyes sympathetic and angry. “It's so far away.”
“Donnie went,” you point out, bristling with the unfairness of it all. “They didn't stop him.”
“Donnie ran away.” Mike's fingers curl around the packed warmth of his drink, eyes fixed on the wafting steam. “They didn't have a chance to stop him.”
And that, you think, with the slow burn of sudden inspiration, is a great idea.
“If you need anything,” grandpa says firmly, helping you pack the bed of your truck in the dark of one o'clock in the morning, “anything, you just give us a call.”
Your sleepy cousins are in their pajamas on the porch, hugging Mike because he was always like a second big brother to them, and he's kissing their soft foreheads around an affectionate smile. Grandma is inside, throwing together a cooler full of food for your long trip, and you slam the stubborn tailgate shut with so much love ballooned up inside of you that nothing feels impossible.
Grandma embraces you both at the same time in both arms, right there on the sidewalk, grandpa's coat thrown on over her nightgown. Grandpa pushes an envelope into your hands—its thick with cash, and he refuses to take it back. Your cousins tug you down for another round of hugs and kisses, and you squeeze them tight, missing them already.
Mike leans out the passenger side window of the truck, waving and waving at your family until you turn the corner and throw them out of sight.
Mike's house is dark, and the car is gone. You wonder if his brothers are out looking for him, and wonder why they didn't check at your house first. Mike unclips his seatbelt, pops open the door, and promises to be quick.
You leave the engine running, and watch the glowing clock on the dash.
It takes your best friend fourteen minutes to return, tossing a single duffle bag into the bed of the truck and climbing back into the warm cab with a cat carrier in his arms.
“They weren't home,” he says breathlessly, and his eyes are bright now—this one last hurdle leaped, he's finally beginning to believe that you're really doing this. Klunk is purring in a way that matches the grin on Mike's face, and you grin right back.
You stop at an ATM and drain Mike's savings into your checking account, just in case his brothers get any funny ideas. You both have a full ride through school, thanks to a plethora of scholarships and grants and one or two student loans, but it's something like twenty-six hours between Arizona and New York, and who knows what might happen.
You stop at a gas station to fill up the tank and send Mike in for convenience store food. Laugh when he comes back out with an arm full of energy drinks and microwave burritos, and catch the King Size Twix he tosses you over the roof of the truck.
You stop one more time, right on the edge of town, at the You Are Now Leaving... sign. The road ahead is dark, an endless stretch of country highway. Neither one of you looks back.
“Ready for this?” you ask him.
In response, Mike turns the radio on. Your phone is still plugged into the AUX, and within moments All The Small Things fills every inch of space in the cab that isn't already taken up by boy or cat or junk food.
Half of your best memories could fit right here, layered one on top of the other like photocopies, you in the driver's seat and Mike in the seat beside you, speeding in circles down the same road because there was no where else to go—fifteen, seventeen, nineteen years old—beating the same Blink-182 song to death over and over and over again.
Your smile is so wide your cheeks are aching. You shift back into drive and gun it forward, down a new road this time. Mike whoops once, then laughs, and then starts singing along mid-chorus, his voice the most familiar thing to you in the whole world.
You get lost almost immediately, because neither of you thought to buy a map, but Mikey's eyes are wide every time you pull into an unfamiliar city and you'd drive through every state in the country to keep that excited brilliance in his face.
The fall semester doesn't start for nearly a month—you have time to make a few detours. So you follow the road signs into Pheonix, and get there as morning dawns across the desert. You eat breakfast at a waffle house, spend the day lost in a giant mall, smuggle Klunk in Mike's hoodie everywhere you go.
After that, you stop in Albuquerque, and then Santa Fe. You drive with the windows down, unplug your phone and tune into different radio stations as you go. You turn off the road late for the night in Las Vegas, New Mexico, because Mike laughs when he sees the sign.
You make Mike hold his bag until you check the questionable motel room for bedbugs, but after that he's creeped out and refuses to sleep alone. He and Klunk crawl in with you without waiting for an invitation, and you roll your eyes and lean over him to turn the light off.
The linen sheets are more scratchy than soft, over-starched and bleached too many times, and the seafoam green of the walls glows almost neon when headlights pass through the thin curtains. You can't count how many nights you've slept like this in your life, with Mike pressed against your chest, breathing softly, mouth slack against your shirt, but he's never kept you up before.
He's warm, his brown skin dusky against the pale pillows in the dark, and you can't see his freckles even from this close but you could probably still count them if you tried.
In the morning, you wake up with Klunk nestled under your chin, and Mike shutting the door behind him with an apologetic grin.
“I meant to be back before you woke up,” he says, tossing the truck keys back on the lopsided nightstand. He's in his own skinny jeans and your over-large hoodie, curly hair a messy halo around his head. He holds up a plastic bag, amber eyes bright. “I picked up breakfast!”
You open a styrofoam container of scrambled eggs and French toast, a strip of bacon and two strawberries on top shaped like a smiley face, and you wonder what on earth you did to deserve him.
You pull back out onto I-25 North and follow it up toward Colorado. The music is down low this morning, and Mike has the atlas folded open on his knees, tracing the trip so far with a pink highlighter.
His phone is in the glove compartment. He turned it off after the seventh missed call, something tight and unhappy on his face, and there's still a pale shadow lingering there hours later.
You merge left sharply, just barely making the exit, and Mike squawks in surprise.
“Woah, where are we going?”
“You'll see,” you say, and turn off the interstate completely. Mike shifts Klunk out of the way and scoots the map closer to your side of the bench, just in case.
The Garden of the Gods ends up being a day-long stop. You wander some of the trails, and take an obscene amount of pictures, and make shapes out of the rock formations. Mike is flushed by the time closing hours are near, his face stretched into what might as well be a permanent smile, and you tap the arm of one of the two young women standing nearby.
“Do you mind taking our picture?” you ask her, holding out your phone.
She looks past you at Mike and then she smiles, the light of her own adventure bright in her eyes, and takes your phone. You turn to grab Mike's hand, and drag him up to the immense hoodoos, two towering, spire-like rocks that stand together and form a small open window where their edges don't quit meet.
“Tourists take pictures in it all the time,” you tell him, helping him climb up. “It's pretty much required while you're here.”
“Oh,” Mike says, voice soft. You sit opposite each other, knees bunched together, and then turn to smile for the camera. Mike never let go of your hand, and he's still holding it now. You can feel his heart beating through the press of his fingers, a little too fast.
You glance at him, sidelong, to make sure he's okay, and startle a little at how close he is. His face is radiant in the half-light, in the shadowed keyhole of the impossibly huge rocks you're sheltering in, and the fingers of his free hand find a home on your cheek.
Your breath catches.
There’s an eternity here, right here, in the careful way he touches you. You cover his hand with your own, and lean through the two inches of space left dividing you, hair flattening where your foreheads come together.
“You did all this for me 'cause you thought I was sad?” he asks, very quietly.
“Nah, Mikester. 'Cause I want you to be happy,” you say, no louder than him.
The woman hands your phone back, and she's covering a delighted smile with her fingers.
“You two look good together,” is all she says, and you grin, a little bit flustered, a whole lot pleased.
Mike wants to go shopping in the Visitor Center before you get back on the road, and the two of you compete to find the cheesiest, tackiest souvenirs. You end up buying the winner, a stuffed bighorn sheep in a little T-shirt that says, “Someone in Colorado loves you!” and Mike buys twelve dollars worth of 'famous fudge' because you both make bad choices.
You check into a motel and take Klunk inside, and have dinner at an Italian place downtown. The stuffed sheep comes with you, and the waiter laughs when he sees it presiding over the table. The dessert menu is long and impressive, and Mike is torn between semifreddo and panna cotta, so he gets one and you get the other and you sneak bites off each other's plates.
A hearty meal after a day of hiking after several days of driving has you flagging by the time you make it back to your motel room. You're ready for bed in about two minutes, and yawn a goodnight as Mike turns the lamp off.
Mike's voice wakes you up sometime later, in the dark timeless place between midnight and morning. You blink blearily, and lift your head, and find him sitting on the other bed with his phone to his ear, stroking Klunk's fur calmly.
“Do you want me to apologize?” he's saying quietly. “I worked so hard for this, and you were going to take it away from me. What am I supposed to apologize for?”
You're frozen, hardly daring to breathe. The silence is impossibly heavy, and you wish you could hear both sides of the conversation your friend is having. You wish you could see his face, see what new damage this is doing him.
“I'm nineteen, Leo,” is the next thing he says. “You can't stop me from going.” Another pause, and finally Mike's shoulders are hunching as he begins to bow under the weight of the argument, and you can only imagine what he's listening to. His voice is thick and hurt when he snaps, “Donnie was right to leave, and so was I!”
His face is briefly illuminated by the screen as he takes it away from his ear to jab the End Call button. He's not crying, but his eyes are bright and wet, and he rubs them with the sleeve of the hoodie he never gave back to you.
“Woody?” he says softly. “Are you awake?”
“Yeah, Mikester. Let's go get some ice cream.”
There's a 24-hour diner down the street. You walk there, close enough that your arms bump, close enough for Mike to slip his hand into yours while you're waiting for a light to change.
You thread your fingers through his and hold on tight. It would take a tornado to force you apart.
Close to Boulder, your truck starts making a pretty ugly grinding sound every time you turn. Mike bullies you into getting it checked out, and the weathered mechanic at the auto shop tells you that your steering column is all but shot.
“Been doing a lot of driving in that old girl recently?” he asks, and you nod, a little shame-faced. “We'll get her taken care of. You're gonna have to stay put for a little while, though.”
You call to let your grandparents know, and end up giving them the number of the auto shop. The mechanic is amused when he sees you the next day, and lets you know that the parts and labor have been paid for. The truck will be ready for the road in about four days, and until then you're stuck in Colorado.
“We're not in a hurry,” Mike reminds you, grinning a little. “Let's go find a place to stay.”
There's a roomshare on Craigstlist advertised for as cheap as twenty bucks a night, and you jump on it.
“After this, we're sleeping in the truck,” you tell Mike sternly, not really meaning it. It's not like you're strapped for cash. But he rolls his eyes and nods along anyway, tugging you towards the bus stop.
Mike's roommate is a pretty cool guy, ex-Marine by the looks of it, and happy to have Klunk sharing their space. He helps Mike set up a fold-away cot, laughing at the anecdotes of their roadtrip so far as Mike shares them, and you stay to make sure he'll be okay before heading into the other room for the night.
“Slash works thirds, so you probably won't see him tonight,” Leatherhead says, Klunk purring warmly in the crook of his arm. “If you need anything, don't be afraid to ask.”
The bed shifting wakes you up. Cool air wafts under the blanket as Mike climbs in next to you, and the mattress settles with his weight. The stupid sheep is under his arm, and his eyes are sleepless.
You push yourself up on one elbow and look down at him. There's a curl of dark hair flopped over one of his eyes, and you push it out of the way with your fingers.
“Everything okay?”
“Yeah,” Mike says, gazing at you. His voice is as reverent as it was in the Garden of the Gods, careful and quiet. “Woody?”
“Mikester?”
“I want you to be happy, too,” he says.
Kissing Mike in a stranger's bed at three a.m. skyrockets to the top of your list of favorite things.
He smiles against your mouth the whole time, and you thank god you broke down in Boulder.

What's driving Automotive Blow By Heaters Market Size?
The COVID-19 pandemic has caused supply and manufacturing disruptions in the automotive sector creating uncertainties in every aspect. The change in customer behavior in terms of mobility preferences during this crisis is changing the automotive landscape.
This pandemic situation has shut down many production lines owing to the trade restrictions and closed borders, creating a shortage in required parts and limiting the distribution of supplies. Different enforced measures including the closing of workspaces and dismissal of short-time workers have created a depression in the growth rate of the automotive industry.
The growing fear of recession is estimated to decrease overall sales and revenue. A limited supply of parts coupled with a reduced workforce has forced the leading OEMs to shut down their production. A significant drop in demand has restricted the cash inflow which is highly important in payment of salaries to the workforce. With growing uncertainties around the COVID-19 pandemic, the industry leaders are taking measures to adapt to the situation.
Automotive Blow by Heaters Market: Introduction
Automotive Blow by Heaters are also known as crankcase ventilation valve heaters which prevent ice formation when treating the combusted, hot gas venting from the crankcase. The gas generated during compression in a combustion engine or piston compressor is known as “blow-by”. During combustion, hot gas contaminated with hazardous substances enters the crank case. This gas is then de-oiled, evacuated and reintroduced for combustion in the induction tract. Ice formation occurs due to the difference between the temperature of the warm blow-by gas and that of the cold intake air. The water content in the warm blow-by gas may condense and freeze upon contact with the cold intake air. Moreover, when the ECU of the vehicle detects the risk of ice formation, it switched on the automotive blow-by heaters through an external relay/power switch. Automotive Blow by Heaters warms the re-circulated crankcase gases, which avoid the risk of damages to the compressor. Automotive Blow by Heaters available in wide power range and maximum floe rate is approximately 200L/H.

10 Best Leaf Blower in 2019
When you are trying to clear garden waste, it can take hours on end if you try and clear it away with a brush. Using a leaf blower instead will get the work done in the blink of an eye as the strong gusts clear your paths, decks, and driveways or any other uses you might have.
They work in more or less the opposite way to a vacuum cleaner. Instead of sucking in the air, it’ll blow it right out. It’s great for getting rid of grass cutting and leaves as well as any other debris you want to clear. But with plenty of models out there, it can be hard to find the best leaf blower for you.
To know what the best leaf blower for you is, it’s important to know which features you need as well as all the other key details. Thankfully we have done all the hard work for you by reviewing the best products on the market and developing a buying guide to give you all the information you need.

10 Best Leaf Blower with Reviews
1. Hitachi Gas Powered Leaf Blower – Best Gas Leaf Blower
Hitachi has been able to produce a leaf blower with a tremendous amount of power. It will help to clear almost anything that you need it too including wet leaves which are lying on the ground. Despite being gas-powered it is quite easy to control.
With all that power it’s a shame that it doesn’t have a cruise control feature but it’s not too tiring to use. Like a lot of leaf blowers, it can be difficult to start as with a lot of gas-powered models but you’ll be able to get it going before long.
The low emission motor it has doesn’t have quite the same noise level as other gas blowers and therefore it’s a good option for those more conscientious on sound. It has an exceptional level of build quality and should last for many years of continued use.
Pros
Low emission motor
Huge air volume
Exceptional build quality
Cons
Requires gas
Can be difficult to start
No cruise control

2. KIMO 2-in-1 Blower – Best Cordless Leaf Blower
If you’re looking for a cordless option then you’re not going to get much better than this leaf blower from KIMO. The only negative is that it’s smaller than most other corded or gas leaf blowers but that is usually the case with battery-powered models.
The versatile design of this blower is exceptional as you’d also be able to use it as a vacuum if you needed to suck up those leaves instead of blowing them away. Small leaves can end up clogging the vacuum but this is a problem that is easily solved.
The leaf blower is able to hold its charge for a good amount of time before it dies but when it does; you’ll be back out there in no time due to the fast charging available. It’s a very well balanced blower and one which will cause you minimal arm ache.
Pros
Fast charging
Versatile design
Beautifully balanced
Cons
Small when compared to other blowers
The battery can be difficult to attach
Small leaves can clog the vacuum

3. BLACK+DECKER LB700 – Best Electric Leaf Blower
As far as budget options go, this is a fantastic leaf blower which is going to be able to do the work of much more expensive models. The cord can sometimes get in the way but that does mean that you’re going to have a consistent power output.
That power is very high for its relatively small size but you might still have a problem picking up the most stubborn leaves from the ground. It’s a simple blower to use and it will feel very easy in your hand while you are using it.
One negative is that there is no speed selector to change the velocity of the air coming out. Being a smaller model, there aren’t many times when you’re going to need to have a lower level of power anyway.
Pros
Great power output
Easy to hold
Lightweight and highly portable
Cons
Can have difficulty with leaves
No speed selector
The cord can get in the way

4. DEWALT MAX Compact Jobsite Blower – Best Compact Leaf Blower
The previous model we looked at didn’t have the ability to switch speeds but this leaf blower does. There are three different options available which are going to give you a maximum amount of control over the jobs you are doing.
Another great feature of this leaf blower is that it has a trigger lock on it. This will prevent you from having to constantly apply pressure to the trigger and with the 135 MPH of air that comes out of this machine, that’s going to help with fatigue.
It is a more compact model and therefore the power is going to be down when compared to some other models. The runtime on the leaf blower isn’t the greatest but you have the advantages of a cordless machine with a much lower noise level.
Pros
3-speed variable switch
Airspeed of 135 MPH
Tigger lock to help fatigue
Cons
A lower level of power
Uses battery power quickly
Compact size

5. WORX WG520 Turbine 600 Electric Blower – Best Corded Leaf Blower
The hyper stream nozzle which is featured on this WORX model is fantastic for being able to direct the air to precisely where it needs to be. That ensures it makes to most out of the power it has to enable you to complete a wide range of tasks.
It’s easy to control with one hand to direct it but you might get a little bit of arm ache after a while. It’s another model with variable speed control to give you the exact amount of power that you need for any given job.
It only features a short cord and therefore if you want to use this model, an extension cord is a must. It doesn’t take a lot for the air intake to get clogged but this is an easy problem to solve should that happen to you.
Pros
Easy to control with one hand
Hyper stream nozzle
Variable speed control
Cons
Can cause arm ache quickly
Air intake can clog
Short cord

6. Sun Joe SBJ597E-SJB – Best Handheld Leaf Blower
Some people only need a leaf blower and don’t want to pay the hefty prices that can come with a gas powered option. This will be light on your wallet and also light on your hand as it has a great level of portability for versatile use.
One feature this leaf blower has which many others don’t is a wide range of color options. It’s not the most important feature but does allow you to have your style. At 155 MPH it’s not just colors that make this one of the most impressive leaf blowers out there.
It’s not the highest powered model but great for everyday tasks. It’s another corded model which will need an extension cord and therefore make sure you don’t get it without one. Overall this is an impressive leaf blower for those on a budget.
Pros
Great budget option
Various color options
155 MPH max speed
Cons
Short cord
Narrow exit tube
A lower level of power

7. Greenworks Single Speed Electric 160 MPH Blower – Best Leaf Blower For The Money
For an electric blower, this is one of the most powerful models that you’re going to be able to get. With speeds of up to 160 MPH, you’re going to blow away nearly everything and it does a good job on most leaves you’re going to encounter.
Cords getting in the way can be a major problem with more powerful tools but this helps to solve that problem with the safety cord lock its features. While not perfect, it does help to prevent any tripping on the cords.
It’s an ideal blower for yards and will be able to complete a good variety of tasks. The air intake can be a little close and trap your clothing and while you can easily clear them, it is a bit of a nuisance. The blower is also a lot noisier than many other electric models.

8. Poulan Pro 48CC – Best Backpack Leaf Blower
If you want the highest level of power, then your best bet is going to be with a gas powered backpack model. They tend to be very heavy which is why a backpack is required but the net result is a blower which can clear almost anything.
With a CFM rating of 475, it has a very high volume of air output to deliver a terrific level of force. Some users have complained that the power is lower than expected but that expectation must have been high as it’s got plenty of kick to it.
That comes at the price of being extremely noisy and therefore you’ll have to consider your neighbors before using it. As with a lot of gas-powered models, starting it from cold can take a little bit of effort but you’re always going to be able to get it going.
Pros
Blows at 200 MPH
A CFM rating of 475
Cruise control
Cons
Cold start can be difficult
Extremely noisy
Power lower than some expect

You are able to control the power that it does have with the variable speed throttle, making it versatile for a wide range of tasks. This is a great example of a gas powered backpack model. It can be a little awkward to start and quite noisy but that’s to be expected with this type of blower.
Pros
Blows air at 251 MPH
Variable speed throttle
CFM rating of 434
Cons

Buying Guide
Types of Leaf Blower
Corded
There is a definite advantage to a corded blower as, unless you forget to pay your electricity bill, you’re going to be able to have an endless source of power. The same can’t be said for other models and this can add to the convenience.
The obvious downside here is the cord itself. It can get in the way which is a safety issue and you can spend as much time fighting with it as you are clearing away debris. They also don’t have quite the same level of power as gas-powered blowers.
Cordless
There is a lot to love about cordless leaf blowers. They are a lot quieter than other options and offer you a great level of mobility. You can go anywhere with them which makes them great for other tasks such as drying out or cleaning your car.
The problem can quite often be the runtime which is never going to be high. A lot of those models have batteries that can be used with other devices, which can enable you to have continuous use if you have more than one battery. They are generally low-powered and are great for small to medium tasks.
Gas-powered
In terms of raw power, you’ll need to get a gas blower. They are ideal for clearing away large areas and you also have the mobility of not being able to have a cord. Having to buy gas to power them, however, can be a bit of a chore.
That huge amount of power does come at a cost. These types of models are usually heavier and also noisier. If you want the ultimate in power then these negatives can easily be overcome and you’ll enjoy the huge advantages that they have.
What to look for when buying a leaf blower?
All leaf blowers are different and some of the key features will be perfect for you while others might not be required. One of the first features to look at is the handle and whether or not you’ll be able to comfortably hold it and to use it. Some have a two handle grip whereas other smaller blowers will just have a one-handed operation.
A feature that many people love is being able to change the speed of the blower. This adds to the versatility of the blower and gives you more control over it. Not all blowers have this feature, especially the ones that have a lower level of power.
Another type of control you can have over a leaf blower is being able to lock the trigger in position. This can prevent fatigue when you’re going to be using the blower for an extended period. It can make the blower easier to use, especially for those who are weaker or have joint issues.
The important of CFM and MPH
The headline figure that you see with these leaf blowers is their MPH figure. You maybe feel as though this would be the only feature that matters but that is far from the truth. While it is important, CFM is also a very important figure.
It stands for Cubic Feet per Minute and is a measurement of how much air leaves the blower. The MPH might be high but if not a lot of air is leaving the blower, it won’t have much force. You want both of these figures to be very high to have an effective blower.
