being from the midwest is having everyone from basically every part of the us assume there's no culture here and dismiss it as boring
#☢️.txt#ppl from the south at least tend to have like. a sense of solidarity#midwesterners just kinda. get left out#hell detroit was one of the most influential american cities but you barely see anyone talk about the culture of the area!#and even then its usually related to the (yes very significant) black detroit culture#but god you only see ppl from detroit talking about other groups!#like have yall even heard of coneys? do you know about woodward? do you know about the factory culture and the history or anything?????#do you know HOW many groups immigrated to detroit to make it the city that it is? from greek immigrants to metis to appalachins to irish?#jewish and italian immigrants???????#can anyone outside of the midwest even identify a detroit accent as being different from a middle east coast one.
