my mom found this little metal thing in my great-great-grandmother's crochet/knitting supplies and none of us can figure out what it's for (despite many of us having extensive fiber arts experience) so i figured i'd ask the all-knowing collective if this looks familiar to anyone

it's like a little flat metal tool that's been curled in on either end (possibly to balance on someone's fingers) with holes that yarn or thread could be passed through. the text says "IDEAL pat appld for," so it might be patented under a brand called IDEAL or something.

Bold of you to assume I’ve traveled. I guess the place I went to college? It was in the middle of nowhere, we had one bus that took us to the nearest city and one bus that went in a circle around town. Also we had cows, pigs, goats, sheep and horses. Sometimes when you weee on the bus you could see deer just wandering through peoples yards. Easily the best place I’ve ever stayed long term.

5. How late did you stay up last night?

Uhhhh fuck if I know lmao I fell asleep on the couch and woke up at 3am

6. If you could move, where would you move to?

Preferably somewhere rural with lots of folklore around it - like Ireland or the Appalachians

I guess my biggest collection is dolls - mostly Little Apple Dolls, though I have a few Franklin Mint Marilyn Monroe porcelain dolls and I’d love to get more of those some day. I have my fantasy reborns, which I would also like more of <3. I have some clown dolls and BJDs. I’d love some of the anthropomorphic Betty Jane Carter dolls, I think those are ADORABLE. I also have a hentai figurine but idk if she counts lol

On the smaller end, I collect a lot of Lilo and Stitch and Lion king stuff - extra points if it’s from Lion King 2 because that one is my absolute favorite. I collect a lot of Marilyn Monroe memorabilia, and I collect vintage porn and pinups. Oh, and music boxes, I love music boxes.

8. Favorite day of the week?

Sunday, Monday and Tuesday - hear me out on that lmao. Sunday and Monday are my days off - I usually use Sunday to run errands and volunteer at a horse rescue every other weekend, Monday I usually spend cleaning, taking care of my plants and bugs, or just giving myself a day to do nothing for once except lay on the couch and watch TV. Tuesday is when I go back to work - but it’s also the one day a week I get to work with two of my favorite coworkers, and unless something goes HORRIBLY wrong with the scheduling, we usually have a blast. Like last Tuesday I came into work and one of my coworkers was playing Kesha. You KNOW it’s gonna be a good day when the DJ for the day is playing Kesha 😩😩

9. Amusement park or concert?

Depends on the concert and the amusement park. I’ve always wanted to go to an amusement park for a date with a nice butch who wins me tons of prizes at the game stands <3

anyway, about the sbk episode that just finished premiering:

I LOVE VINTAGE SO MUCH. the fun part abt most of todays avidsode being stream footage is that i was in chat watching this play out realtime. the frantic escape from leon and ancient city chase was exhilarating, but oh my god. vintage.

i knew vintages task. i also knew she was planning to target avid. so avid asks her about her task, and she lies with a reference to it involving beets somehow bc those are her kryptonite. avid buys it.

once she started with "you know what would be funny?", i figured shed blown it. it sounded SO suspicious. avid caught on to something being Up and was wary of her. but, because he was live, he turned to chat for help.

youtube chat was yelling "no". twitch chat, myself included, which included several vintage viewers, was yelling "yes". there was a poll in twitch chat (that i dont think avid saw, lmao). avid considered his options and put on the dragon head.

and then vintage brings up a bet with ruby! which makes her suspicious behavior justified-- she DID have an ulterior motive, it just wasnt tied to tag. the full "bet" was if she could get avid to wear a dragon head bc of how paranoid he was about tagging and tag tasks, so it still plays in to the overall picture.

half an hour passes. avid gets reminded occasionally hes wearing the head when he opens his inventory, but he doesn't take it off, even when hes no longer in the trial chamber. and then vintage suddenly stops talking and asks in chat if they can hear her. vintage has documented microphone issues-- you can even see it in chat in viking's episode, after the trial. vintage having to relog bc of them is normal.

so vintage logs out. in twitch chat, my friend kit realizes what's happening at the same time i do.

vintage logs back in. avid is too busy talking to fool while doing storage management to notice. vintage does a mic check, still keeping up the bit, then TAGS AVID.

it was honestly beautiful. i know we tease vintage but she ABSOLUTELY pulled this off, and it's iconic. literally ALL OF THAT had been vintage lying in various ways for half an hour and getting avid's guard down. that was a well-earned tag. congratulations

hmm !! this may surprise you but i actually don’t consume that much fanfic. partially because i’m picky, partially bc i tend to consume content slowly or bounce around a lot, etc

i will say a general tip is to sort by bookmarks or kudos to get the good stuff and filter by specific tags as well! like i just read mage pride which is the top bookmarked item in the viravos tag and it was definitely worth the hype!!

Aaravos and Viren living together in this plane together lives rent free in my head 😭 I also love their fic where Aaravos gets to meet Viren’s family :)

Recidivism by indefensibleselfindulgence/ @iamalivenow - the viren characterization is everything, it takes place in s2 prison era, and it’s very humorous!

The Sound of His Voice by portmanteau_press - very very cool setup/worldbuilding concept i think

Constellation of the Heart by @yurayuramiharin - This fic is one of my absolute favorites and has inspired some of the art I’ve done as well! As someone who loves vintage & goth subculture & IS a baby bat in college I feel like I resonate with it really well! I love the taking of the worldbuilding of the dragon prince recontextualized in a college setting and the way Aaravos was actually an inspiration for Bowie & caused Viren to question his sexuality!! It’s so deliciously perfect but sadly unfinished, but I would say it’s still definitely worth the read! It doesn’t really end on a cliffhanger either, just one of the best burns ever 😁

Touch of a Star by @detectiphoenix - really unique take on what it’s like to touch Aaravos, I adore it sm and think about it everyday too. Fluffy S5 extrapolation/continuation

this miiight be my favorite ask of all time. first off, thank you for all your sweet words, i'm totally flattered! secondly, thrifting is tough. sometimes, you can wander around and get lucky, but the truth of it is that if you want to find good stuff you gotta be persistent. when i was into it regularly i would go and scavenge at least three times a week. hitting up the same places, over and over and over, looking through every darn thing. so if you end up with some space in your apartment, make sure you remain diligent in your searching! lastly, my favorites:

broyhill saga china cabinet these photos are not of my personal cabinet, i used to have a post on here of the one i actually own but i apparently deleted it at some point and the picture i had before got swallowed up with my old phone. i'm sure once i have my cabinet fully decorated i'll take a photo of it, but right now i only have one shelf filled. my cabinet has glass doors for the shelves (that i currently don't have installed) and at some point a previous owner added some swanky fiberglass lights to the upper-side of the shelves which i absolutely adore. i still can't believe i managed to snag this piece for only $100.00, it is probably my greatest thrift achievement!

mid century dining set/owl cookie jar/wooden filigree mirror i also used to have a post about my dining set that i snagged! i'm currently in the process of refinishing and reupholstering different parts, but here is one of the chairs. the table itself is a classic mcm rectangular shape similar to this one, but it has a leaf insert and a ton of wear and tear. it's going to be difficult to rectify but if the table project fails it will be easy to replace with another find. it was more the shape of the chairs that i wanted to snag anyway!

Leonardo knew you loved dressing up, wearing makeup, and doing your hair, unlike April who was more of a tomboy, and had more of a sporty aesthetic, you had more of a cottage core mixed with a vintage aesthetic, wearing dresses rather than pants as it gets hot rather quickly.

You typically bought a dress once a week, so he often tagged along for the adventure, due to him wanting to tag along so often, you went shopping in the hidden city to look for either new accessories, clothing, or makeup that is friendly towards human skin.

So, when you found the perfect dress to wear to your date that was happening tomorrow, Leonardo was not there, and it was perfect since you wanted it to be a surprise, it was white with blue flowers and birds (I actually have a dress exactly like it), it was gorgeous. So, you bought it.

Leonardo stared, as you showed off your new dress, it complimented the curves you had, and despite wearing a tank top underneath it (since you don't like showing your boobs, believe me, I don't either lmao), he kept staring during the entirety of the date.

DONATELLO

Unlike Leonardo, Donnie hated shopping, it was exhausting, and quite overstimulating sometimes with the loud noises, so he often stayed home, and you would text pictures of what you got; he did shop with you every now and then when you were shopping during the quieter hours of the day.

He also knew how much effort you took into getting ready for the day, you would spend a good two hours just getting ready, which included doing your hair, makeup, and getting dressed. Donnie had heard from you that you felt like you were being squeezed with that waistband. You were so stoked to find the dress, Donnie would be impressed finding that lovely lavender dress. Mikey, like Leonardo, loved shopping with you, he was sort of your personal stylist, and little bodyguard when men would start flirting with you, so it's like a package deal when it came to those sorts of things.

He knew how much you took getting ready seriously, you would always get dressed and would always do your hair and makeup after eating, cooking, or baking with Mikey, these dresses were often gifts from your grandmother and mother that were passed down each generation. So thankfully you were pretty girly.

So, the day that it was pizza night, Mikey didn't come with you, you wanted the dress to be a surprise for him, because you nearly had every color in your wardrobe, except for orange, which not only frustrated you but also him.

So you were pretty excited to find the dress that was sunset orange, every other dress was colored like that bright fluorescent, highlighter orange dress, you nearly ran Donnie over, racing over to Mikey, yanking out that sunset colored dress, "Hey Mikey!! I finally found it!!" You had said, both pumping your fists in the air.

RAPHAEL

Raphael was... the rough houser, ambushing his siblings basically everywhere, but made sure not to hurt you or his younger brothers, especially when you were all dressed up, he didn't want to face that smite again when he got mud all over you and your dress, it took you and Donnie nearly four hours to get all the mud out. That's almost as long as you take getting ready for the day. You wake up at like 5 am so you're all dolled up!

He never came with you to shop for new clothes, makeup, or accessories for your hair or jewelry, so he was surprised to see them tried on when you got home. He was always nervous about breaking something, which I don't blame him, the first attempt at shopping with you, he was like a bull in a China shop.

So you shopped with April, who liked shopping with you, she got a dress every now and then but preferred wearing jeans and a T-shirt, but today was pretty special, it was your birthday date with him, so you needed to find a red dress, but every single one looked like that red homecoming dress from freshman year.

So when you found that gorgeous wine-red dress, you showed off your prize so proudly, Raph was often the quiet cheerer, but on the inside, he was stoked that you finally found a red dress that you can wear every now and then for special days.

Why do people insist on selling used vintage Foster’s shirts on eBay for $80-$100 or more? I’d understand brand new ones with tags but used shirts shouldn’t be that expensive. I sometimes see one I really like that I would buy if it were cheaper with stains and wear and I’m like… that’s kinda not even worth that even if it is rarer lmao. They make them so unaffordable just because they’re older and harder to find but it’s a shirt. Not a plush or a figure lmao. People have worn it on their bodies before, and more times than not, you can tell it’s been worn. It’s insane.
