Have you ever travelled in a camper van?! I explored the east coast of Australia with one and it was an eye-opening experience. Not only did we have the freedom to explore and sleep pretty much anywhere we wanted, but we had to learn about minimalism and light travel. 🚐 Once you realize how little you actually need, it changes your way of thinking and traveling. I used to pack wayyyy to much on any trip I'd go on...you know, the just-in-case stuff HAD to come. Just in case. 🚌 We would reuse pasta sauce jars for drinking cups, we'd use water bottles and iPhones to craft lanterns, and we'd shower by swimming in rivers. It was a simple experience, but it was exactly everything I needed to learn about shedding the unnecessary. 🚐 I'm looking back and remembering that I had brought a massive suitcase with me at the time. I'm cringing thinking about how much I had and how little my travel mates did. Now, I usually travel only with my backpack so my feet can take me everywhere I need to go and I don't need to worry about dragging something along behind me. 🚌 My style of travel has changed a lot over the years, but living in that camper van for a few weeks shifted my way of thinking massively, and for the better. In other areas in my life, I realized how little I need to survive and get things done. Once you rid yourself of the extra crap, you feel so much lighter, freer, and more in-tuned with your actual needs. It's enlightening to say the least. 🚐 So, if you've never traveled in a camper van, I highly recommend it. The adventure comes with you and you're free from any ties holding you in one place. My friend Nils here lived in this one for ages while he traveled the South Island of New Zealand.
