Character: Svein the Redeemed
Svein was a half-orc mercenary who helped transport Chimeras between the cities of Graal and Iro for the oppressive Drasnalian empire’s militaries. She was a largely amoral person, willing to work for whoever offered the most coin. That changed after a party of adventurers stopped her Chimera caravan. Though she fought as best she could, the adventurers bested her. She expected to die then. Instead, the adventurers offered her new armor and told her to go ask for work in the good country of Greavica, beyond the mountains. Knowing that she could not continue mercenary work anywhere that the adventurers might find her, she began the journey towards Greavica--enjoying the hospitality of many farmers and traveling merchants along the way. Having lived her life amidst cruel mercenaries and people who saw her as a commodity rather than a person, she was in awe of the good nature these people had. In Greavica she happened upon the kindly commander Yvette, who offered a job in Greavica’s guard. Svein eagerly took the opportunity to protect the kind folk she had met, and quickly rose to become a commander herself.
Her reputation among her subordinates is that of a capable fighter who tolerates no incompetence but puts the well-being of her men over her own safety.
