I'm on this now we're having a meeting and it's a go for the meeting with the governor and president too by the way I'm going to meet and decide what to do and we have several ways of doing it and what they've been saying is pretty cool you can actually float a barge out after loading it up you don't have to put in a bridge just trying to say it and you couldn't yeah these burgers can be pretty big or you can you can actually stick them together and the thing would be gigantic you kind of ride out on it a little and it says you don't have to put a machine up there or two and it's true too they're pretty big you're home out there unload it and the lows are giant by the way it's like half and really Jeff hold out half punta Gorda and you stopped cuz the monster tracking bugs let's put some out there to make the mulch rot whatever that would be and he found something and he looked around and he put it out there and it's like finally holy s*** that was awful it's one of your composted he's going to try and do that it's already composting. It's kind of like this you use the material that you found as long as it doesn't hurt your plants it helps them it helps you put in layers you know few feet and spray a bunch on a few feet which are million bucks it works so he's thinking of doing it it's going to haul it out of here it turns into like s*** like it down or something hey you lay down well just says it seems to high having it does and the bugs stay away from it except for fleas.. he said no no the fleas don't like it it's tannins the trees love it so we're going to go ahead and do it it's a great idea Chris and thank you and I thank them for helping me and it's good you're welcome very welcome it's a great idea it's a matter of fact it might save us all actually good he says

We're going to start doing stuff this is working he put it in his fields and it worked it's actually not not all together it works started deteriorating the woods so we're going to go ahead and watch him pilot up for mulching for compost he said it's a hero's feet with our son has done and he's done he didn't say it about himself but people do you see the helmet and they know what it's all about smoke safety too and the safety vest and his name is Brad and he saved him from doing something stupid and it did help and it was going to get a lot worse so he's doing the same thing now he's helping a lot of people it doesn't have to be a positive thing but Randall was bad and but this was actually saving is going to go out of control and we couldn't stop him it's on drugs very angry the guy was going oh no it wasn't going to defend himself

Garden Report 20.01.25

Rain: It doesn’t stop the garden from blooming. 

The rhododendron is an eruption of red for Chinese New Years . 

Three different camellias came forth as a gentle wave of pinks and corals, cloaking the nesting doves in sweetness. 

The mystery yellow pompom plant, a Kirrea japonica, is radiant under the winter naked trees. 

Magnolia stellate, ‘Star’ magnolia, is budding up greatly, in all appearances, could burst forth from their furry jackets to bloom with the next warm breeze.

The fruitless plum, void of its bronze leaves, are a cascade of shell pink froth. Wonderfully chirpy flocks of small feathered friends ride the limbs in the breeze.

The roses, my constant, ever encouraging Joseph’s Coat and Tropicana are striking out from the cold to give me a single rose every week.  They never stop! Perhaps St Theresa the Little Flower makes sure I see them, giving me note that God’s work is in the garden and my life.

The rosemary hedges are spotted with their blue-grey flowers. They are holding back, waiting for warmer weather so they can spread their welcoming nectar picnic to feed the bees.

Some of my Chinese mustard greens have bolted and are blooming. Surely Spring is soon to be arriving!

This past season we had a cut tree for Christmas instead of the artificial. Out it went to the garden once the season was over.  Seeing it there, still green, lying on its side, made my son want to plant it. He knows it won’t grow. But he couldn’t just let it lay there Sooo he went back to the carriage house to retrieve the heavy cast iron stand and re-erected the tree in the garden. He was so pleased with the large amount of little birds that were reveling in having a Christmas tree of their own. He felt very happy in providing them shelter and joy. Hearts blooming in the garden. Even the rain can’t stop that.

Two days after Harry had danced with you, he and the class were surprised to see Esméralda enter their class, tapping on Bert's shoulder and nodding outside. “if you would excuse me, keep practicing the neck spin!” the class nodded, slightly confused on what was happening but continued to practice the routine.

A few minutes later, Bert and Esméralda returned and Bert walked over to Harry, grabbing his shoulder gently and nodding outside the room “come on son, we’ve got some news for ya, don’ worry it's good” Harry, whose shoulders had tensed for a moment then relaxed at the last part of Bert’s sentence. He nodded and followed his teacher out of the room, Esméralda stepping out with them.

“wha’s up?” Harry asked, crossing his arms. Esméralda and Bert smiled at him.

“im sure you know of the performance in spring?” Esméralda prompted, tilting her head at Harry, her emerald green eyes staring into his ocean blue. Harry nodded, curious about where this was going “well, my class, the one with miss Charming” Harry felt his cheeks flush at the mention of you, and Esméralda smirked knowingly “and there is a duet, meant to include miss charming and another…and I've decided on her partner” Harry felt his chest constrict when he remembered what you had said about the dance; it was about two falling in love, and you would have to dance with someone that…wasn’t him. “-and that’s why I've decided on you, Mr. Hook” Harry shook his head slightly, he had been lost in his thoughts he hadn’t continued listening to Esméralda and had failed to hear her explanation a moment before.

“wha-what?!” Harry yelled quietly, his jaw-dropping “me? But-but I don’ dance ballet?!” Esméralda hummed with a smile.

“well, it's more contemporary, but with your flexibility and quick learning, you’ll be up to shape in no-time. Follow me~!” Esméralda turned on her heel already walking away. Harry looked to Bert who just smiled and pushed Harry towards Esméralda.

“we’ll discuss what's exactly going to happen later, now go on.” Harry stumbled for a moment then followed Esméralda across the hall into her classroom, biting the inside of his cheek as you and your classmates turned to look at him. You smiled at the sight of him and started to walk towards him but stopped as Esméralda clapped her hands to get everyone's attention.

“I have found Ms. Charming’s dance partner for her duet~” Esméralda sang, grinning as you glanced between her and Harry “so, I want you all to welcome, Harry Hook to our class~” the class applauded Harry with no hesitance, Anita elbowed you as you just bit your lip and smiled at him, face flushed. You pushed her away and walked towards Harry as Esméralda called for the start of practice.

“any idea wha’ made ‘er chose meh?” Harry asked quietly, walking around the room with you as he watched his new classmates dance around with their partners. You shrugged, honestly happy harry was your partner, he was the one to make you feel something about dance again…which was probably why Esméralda had chosen Harry in the first place.

“dunno, but I got no problem with it.” you laughed gently, smiling as Harry glanced at you slightly surprised. “what?”

“nothin’” Harry muttered, suppressing his smile. She didn’t mind him being her dance partner? In a dance that was meant to portray two falling in love? He was in heaven.

“Alright, you two! Ms. Charming? if you could” you smiled and nodded, grabbing Harry’s hand and dragging him into the middle of the room, Dami, one of the few boys who knew the partner choreo for the duet, took place for Harry temporarily. “Ms. Camillea, please start the music”

Harry watched enraptured as you and Dami started to dance, butterflies rushing through his body the moment Dami’s hands touched your skin.

An hour and a half later, Harry had at least started learning the beginning half of the duet, as time was up before they could move onto the second half. Harry was panting, as this duet was much more physically exhausting than the ‘ol bamboo’ performance Bert originally had him doing. “Great job today! Harry, thank you so much for joining us” Harry gave a thumbs up from the floor, you were sitting next to him, laughing and poking his limp arm “I will see you all tomorrow, get some rest, remember to stretch and take care of any pulled muscles, and ice yourselves!” the class all grabbed their things and pulled on hoodies and sneakers before heading out, your friends waving you off with suggestive smiles as you stayed next to Harry.

“how do yeh do tha’ every day” Harry grunted as he sat up, flopping against your shoulder as you laughed.

“years and years of doing so” you pushed Harry off your shoulder and stood, holding out your hands to him. He grabbed them and let you pull him up “come on, I’ll treat you to dinner” Harry grinned, grabbing his bag and changing his shoes quickly.

“aye, sounds good” Harry followed you outside, jumping in your car and air-drumming along to the music playing on the radio as you drove back to the dorms to shower and change before dinner.

-a month later (a/n; just to note, the story begins in late September, and goes into October, and is now in November. just to establish a little timeline :3)

You bit your lip as you looked down at one of the newly printed invitations for your 18th birthday party ball, which was to be held at your parent's castle. Originally it was supposed to be a party held for both you and Chad but Chad didn’t wish to share any type of spotlight so he would have his ball an exact week before yours.

And you were supposed to bring a date, or-well at least a partner. And! the one person you wanted to bring, you were increasingly getting more and more tongue-tied around as you danced the duet together, his strong hands gripping your waist during a lift, his face oh so close to yours, and his ocean eyes burning into yours.

You were so damn in love with Harry Hook, that you were scared to ask him to be your date to your birthday ball, but you really really wanted to ask him! But-god, your face flushed every time you looked at him, body filled with butterflies when he spoke, heart beating like a hummingbird when he laughed.

“(y/n)!” Jane suddenly called your name from behind, you screamed, jumping a bit as Jane sat next to you on the stone bench, scaring you again “oh im so sorry! I didn’t mean-” Jane paused as you started to laugh, waving her off. “you-you’re fine Jane” you wheezed, pressing a hand to your chest “I was so deep in thought I didn’t hear you walk up” Jane laughed and shook her head.

“you’re doing that more often…is it Harry?~” Jane teased, leaning closer to you and elbowing you slightly, you flushed, making Jane grin and her eyes flash with mischievousness “it is~” you pushed her away, covering your smile with your other hand “oh~ I know why too~” she grabbed the invitation from your lap and waved it in your face “you gonna ask him?”

You looked down at your lap, sighing “i-I don’t know…maybe?” Jane snorted, wrapping her arms around you and laying her chin on your shoulder.

“Oh come on, you are so in love with him, and he likes you, I can tell. Just ask him? I promise he won't say no” you laughed, pushing your cheek onto the top of Jane's head.

“you sure about that?” you teased, laughing as Jane rolled her eyes and pushed off of you.

“1000 percent, ask him after your class today, it's only another month to the ball, and he will need a suit and Evie is pretty backed up with making dresses and suits for your ball and the school's winter festival ball” Jane patted your shoulder and stood, skipping off to find Lonnie. “ask him~”

You sighed, picking up the invitation from beside you and standing, going to your room to put it in a special envelope you had made to give to your date.

It took you another week to get the guts to give the invite to Harry, and you had personalized the backside of the card to make your point clear. You bit your lip as Harry faced away from you, packing up his gear as the rest of your class filed out of the classroom,  Esméralda smirking at you knowingly as you held the silver-blue envelope in your hands. She winked at you and walked out, closing the door behind her.

“Harry?” you asked weakly, Harry perking up and looking at you.

“aye?” he asked, standing from his bag and turning to face you with his arms crossed, showing off his impressive biceps that made your heart flutter. you stepped closer and held out the letter, your face erupting with heat as he tilted his head at it. “what’s this?” Harry rasped out, grabbing the envelope and opening it with his pocket knife.

He took out the invite and read, a smile growing on his face “aye, I’ll go” he chuckled, looking back at you, raising his brow as you pointed at the back. He flipped it over, his pupils dilating and his cheeks turning red.

It was your handwriting, some of the beginning scratched out from your earlier drafts of asking him out.

Harry, will you do me the pleasure of being my date to the ball? - (y/n)

Harry felt frozen as he looked back at you, his entire face turning crimson along with his ears as you looked down at your feet. “uh, as-as a friend?” Harry’s voice cracked as he spoke, he cleared his throat to remove the embarrassing fault, but it didn’t go away as he continued to speak “or-as-…as a date-date?”

“date-date?” you laughed out nervously, shrugging a bit as you twiddle your fingers. Harry was silent for a minute, unable to speak as his mind rushed with so many feelings at once it short-circuited him “Harry?”

“YES!” Harry suddenly squeak-yelled out, covering his mouth as you jumped slightly with wide eyes, before laughing as he looked at his feet with his fist clenched at his side “yes-i-I would love ta go with ya to yer party as yer date” you could see the imaginary steam erupting from his ears as he bit his lip and glanced away from you.

You stepped closer to him and kissed his cheek, laughing as he squeaked again “go get your suit ordered from Evie, and don’t worry ill pay for it, the party is just more than a month away” you quickly grabbed your bag and waved Harry goodbye, who was still short-circuiting in place and squealed yourself silly in the car.

You had done it! You had asked Harry to be your date to the ball! And he said yes~!! Ahhhhhhh~!!

Evie hid her smile as Harry paced her and Mals shared room, his hands running through his even more unruly than usual hair as he babbled away about suits, balls, and parents. “I mean-im goin’ ta meet her parents there Evie! I-I need ta wear somethin’ tha’-tha’ suits her and meh-like-gah!” Harry stopped, throwing his hands up as Evie laughed and grabbed his shoulders as she stood.

“Harry, Harry! I got this; I know exactly what to do. Im gonna turn you into a princely pirate~” Harry calmed at Evie's assured demeanor. “though, I won't be doing gloves for this, okay? It'll take away from the prince half of the look” Harry nodded, thumbing the leather of his gloves as she said that. “okay! Time for measurements~!”

This wasn’t the book that I was expecting. I was expecting a modern retelling of Red Riding Hood but instead, I ended up with a giant metaphor of being raped and killing your attacker. Something I wish I had a bit more warning for. Red Hood is told in second person. Which it has been a long time since I read a story like this. Second person is definitely one of the harder story views for me to read. It is a lot harder for me to connect to the characters this way. This story is very gory and very dark. Normally I would mind gory and dark if it made sense, but I don’t feel like it makes sense for this book at least not for teenagers. I find that this doesn’t work so well in this YA thriller fairytale retelling. There are moments that I feel like Arnold is trying to be an educator. She is trying to teach teens how to use a tampon and put a condom on it. I can possibly understand this for kids that have the lack of parental education or even sex ed in school. I just wish that Arnold did a better job with it vs going about it the way that she did. I think the biggest issue that I had with this book is that the message is supposed to be about female empowerment and girls banding together. In the end, it feels like this is feeling you that there is justification in murder. That is not an endorsement I support. This book is written to make the reader very uncomfortable so I get that. I just found that the book wasn’t really for me. I can’t say that it is a bad book either. I would definitely give it like 3 stars. I do think that Arnold is a very skilled writer.
