Born in 1946 to pureblood parents in the city of Bilbao, Spain, Carlos was their only child. He had a good childhood and attended a Spanish wizarding school, where he excelled and received top marks in all of his classes. This enabled Carlos to become a diplomat for the Spanish ministry of magic. He adored that position, which eventually enabled him to meet Gabriella Santiago, whom he married in 1974.

In 1975, six months after his wedding, Carlos was sent to act as a representative of Spain for the British-Irish ministry of magic, as the first war against Voldemort had begun. Carlos did his best, but also accepted a cottage that was considered to be off the grid. His first child, Elias, was born in 1977 and two years later, his second child, Camila, was born in 1979. Camila’s birth coincided with the most violent and stressful years of Voldemort’s wars, which resulted in a five year gap between Camila and his third child, Carlos, born in 1984. After the end of the war, Carlos remained as a diplomat as he was very successful in it and even continued in the position as the second war began brewing.

Carlos’s youngest children, Amada and Joaquin, were born in 2000, which was quite the surprise for Carlos and Gabriella. However, they doted on the twins. Unfortunately, Carlos was murdered in 2005, by a rogue death eater who remembered the Spanish diplomat’s name.

Born in 1948 to muggle parents in Cuba, Gabriella Santiago was their third child. Her first eleven years were pretty good, but the Cuban Revolution in 1959 changed everything. Gabriella’s family fled Cuba and the violence, landing in the United States and settling in Washington DC. That year Gabriella also learned that she was a witch and was accepted into Ilvermorny where she was placed in Pukwudgie. She enjoyed her time in Ilvermorny even though everything was different and she struggled to find an identity. However, after graduating, Gabriella decided to spend some time traveling and eventually met Carlos Valdez in Spain and she fell in love with him. They married in 1974, two years after they first met. 

In 1975, Gabriella moved to London with her husband for his career as a diplomat. Gabriella had decided to try out being a poet and became very successful at it, selling a few collections. Her first child, Elias, was born in 1977 and two years later, her second child, Camila, was born in 1979. Five years later, after the wizarding war had settled down, Gabriella had her third child, Cisco, in 1984. She continued publishing her poetry while raising her children and was surprised to discover that she was pregnant once again in late 1999. Her youngest two children, Amada and Joaquin, were born in 2000. However, Gabriella’s time raising her youngest children was cut short as she was murdered alongside her husband by a rogue death eater in 2005.

Born on January 29, 1977, Elias was the eldest child of Carlos and Gabriella Valdez, two years older than Camila, and a Slytherin. Elias’s passion lay in music, both performing and composing. He joined the frog choir in his first year and earned a solo in his third year. Even though he achieved top marks in most of his classes, Elias was never interested in anything besides music. After graduating from Hogwarts, Elias followed his dreams and became a musician and a composer. He didn’t make it big right away, spending most of his time performing in pubs, but eventually he found his way into making it big. Elias also married a Hufflepuff named Lucia Torres in 2005 and they had three children, Santiago in 2007, Gabriella in 2009, and Diego in 2012. 

Camila has a good relationship with her older brother, even though they would fight like cats and dogs when they were children. However, they grew close in adulthood, something that was strengthened when they were given joint custody of their youngest siblings in 2005. Camila loves her brother and finds it highly amusing whenever students find out that yes, the Elias Valdez is her brother.

Born on December 19, 1984, Cisco is the third child of Carlos and Gabriella Valdez, five years younger than Camila, and a Ravenclaw, although he was a hatstall between Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. Cisco was always known as the “smart Valdez,” as he was whip smart and seemed to be an endless well of knowledge. He discovered a passion for the work of alchemy, and he never wanted the gold or glory associated with alchemy. He loved the work. 

Camila had a good relationship with Cisco, although they’ve never been close. They never truly fought as children due to the five year age gap, but they were never truly close, either. Camila could also be protective of him, especially during the years that overlapped with the war. However, despite all of this, Camila is very proud of her younger brother and always reads his work whenever it is published.

She joined the frog choir in her second year and received a solo in her fifth year. She fell in love with performing and music, and it was receiving the opportunity to perform a solo that solidified her desire to become a musician.

Camila has a slightly fraught relationship with her sister, which is most likely due to their large age gap and Camila having to adopt a parental role as opposed to a sisterly role. However, Camila remains proud of her sister and tries her best to balance her parental duties with their sisterhood.

He falls in love with quidditch and to Joaquin, it feels like an escape from everything in his life and the fact that his parents are dead and his sister is the astronomy professor.

Camila also has a somewhat fraught relationship with Joaquin, but it’s better than her relationship with Amada. He’s the one that Camila worries about and she’s often found yelling “Joaquin!” throughout the halls of Hogwarts. Camila is proud of her little brother and does her best to support him while balancing her parental role with her sister role.

Born on September 19, 1979, Camila Ines Valdez Santiago was the second child and eldest of Carlos and Gabriella Valdez. She joined older brother, Elias, then 2. Five years after she was born, her younger brother, Cisco, was born in 1984.

Camila had a good childhood, spending most of her time in Dublin, Ireland as her father was a Spanish diplomat to the British and Irish Ministry of Magic. This, along with her mother’s status as a naturalized American, meant that Camila had citizenship in three separate countries. She also had no memories of the years when Voldemort was active the first time around as she was two when the dark lord was somewhat vanquished. She enjoyed her childhood, which was full of love and happiness. 

Hogwarts Years:

Upon starting Hogwarts, Camila was sorted into Slytherin after being a hatstall between Ravenclaw and Slytherin. In Slytherin, she struggled to connect with most of her peers as she disagreed with the pervasive viewpoints. Despite being the same year as Harry Potter and his friends, Camila’s years at Hogwarts were relatively uneventful and she was only mildly inconvenienced by his escapades. She became a prefect in her fifth year and became determined to undo the damage that Draco Malfoy caused. Her fifth year also saw the beginning of her teaching career as she began discreetly teaching some first and second years the practical aspects of Defense Against the Dark Arts because defensive skills were important dammit. 

In her seventh year and after making the decisions to stay at Hogwarts as opposed to fleeing back to Spain, Camila didn’t learn much but continued in her teaching ways by trying to educate the younger students properly. This was helped by her responsibilities as head girl, something that was never removed after Dumbledore’s death and Hogwarts’ staff dark spiral. (What Camila doesn’t learn until much later is that Minerva McGonagall advocated for Miss Valdez to be head girl, as opposed to one of the more violent Slytherin seventh years.) 

Adulthood:

After graduating from Hogwarts, Camola became an astronomer. She adored the work and had always thrived in astronomy as she was fascinated by all space-related discoveries. At the age of 24, Minerva McGonagall offered Camila the position of astronomy professor and she quickly accepted it.

When Camila was twenty, in 2000, her youngest two siblings, Amada and Joaquin, were born. They were a complete surprise to the whole family, but the twins were a welcome surprise. In 2005, after her parents were murdered, Camila became one of their guardians, alongside her elder brother, Elias. She wasn’t always fond of taking on such a parental role, but Camila did her best to do right by her younger siblings.

Old Age:

Camila retired at the age of 78, dedicating more time to looking at the incredible discoveries that had happened during her lifetime and eventually authoring a simple book cataloging both the muggle and wizarding discoveries. She enjoyed time with her husband and children and grandchildren. She spent time exploring Spain and visiting the United States and even venturing to Cuba once.

Death: 

Camila passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 137. She lived a long and fulfilled life and she left behind two children, three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.

Trivia:

Camila technically has triple citizenship. She’s an American citizen because her mother was American. She’s a Spanish citizen because her father was a Spanish citizen. She has Irish citizenship because she’s lived in Ireland for pretty much all of her life. 

Camila never lived in Spain while growing up as her father was a diplomat for her whole childhood. They did, however, spend summer vacations in Spain, usually visiting her father’s family. They would also spend some summer vacations visiting her mother’s family in the United States.

Camila keeps a close eye on Amada and Joaquin while they’re at Hogwarts as she’s the astronomy professor. 

Camila gives her students’ second chances, for those willing to work for it. If you blow it more than twice in a row, she revoked that privilege for the remainder of the semester.

In her fifth year, Camila waged a quiet, undetected war against Umbridge by tutoring some first and second years in Defense Against the Dark Arts. 

Camila also was not a fan of most of her fellow Slytherins while being a student at Hogwarts.

During her years at Hogwarts, Camila had a series of short-lived crushes on many others, including Harry Potter, Cedric Diggory, Fleur Delacour, Theodore Nott, and Hannah Abbott.
