I'm loving those legs! I think maybe a light coat of varnish to the wooden exterior, and a new fabric insert for the inner base to cover up a little damage to the original. A coat of shellac sealer will stop real Wood bleeding through onto your new painted finish, and it only takes 20 mins to dry and be ready to paint.
