North California [Callie x Nori (oc)] - Callie is a big fan of cuddling, she loves that Nori is much taller than her so she can be fully enveloped by her girlfriend's arms - Nori likes that when they cuddle it feels like she's protecting Callie, shielding her even though there's nothing to protect her from. It helps her relax too, knowing that she has Callie safe in her arms and she won't be going anywhere. - If Nori has had a particularly bad day she'll often cling onto Callie wordlessly, waiting for the other to hug her and comfort her while she tries to process the day. Nori meets Acht and is like "You are familiar. I don't know why." And all of a sudden she remembers Callie telling her about this octoling she secretly dated when she was a teenager (maybe before acht's sanitization?) but they had a messy breakup and they never saw each other again. Nori eventually connects the dots when Acht says something about knowing Callie and she goes off about it, like cursing in octarian, scolding her for breaking Callie's heart and all that. Poor Acht cannot catch a break from Nori everything she says/does is wrong ;-;

Plot twist maybe Callie broke up with Acht instead and Acht has to interrupt Nori's ranting to be like "Bro she broke up with me." and Nori stops and is comically frozen in place like "oh... uh. Sorry."

JJSSHWDJJJUEJDDHASKÀJJANA SORRY IT TOOK SO LONG but here’s the drabble I promised! I got distracted cuz I got sucked into like 3 different hyperfixations xP. Anyway here’s Nori and Callie looking for ghosts!

It was a dark, chilly night in Callimari County, and two cephalopods stood in front of a surprisingly large house. Callie and Nori, as well as Marie, had come to visit the Squid Sisters’ parents for the holidays, getting an early start by showing up just before splatoween. 

In the inkling’s hand was a flashlight, and in the octoling’s a custom Splaterscope, covered in hot-pink stickers wherever she and her girlfriend could responsibly fit them. Their free hands were joined together, shivering from the cold. and maybe from nerves, just a little.

Callie gave her girlfriend a reassuring smile before separating their hands to open the large wooden door. She’d wanted to explore this place ever since she heard the ghost stories, but her parents (and Marie) always talked her out of it as a teen. Now that she was older, and had Nori to keep her safe, she couldn’t wait to see what was inside! Nori was a little skeptical of a ghost causing all the strange stuff around the house, but that didn’t stop her from bringing her Splaterscope along, despite how impractical it was to carry such a large weapon around without the sling to attach it to her back. Nori had never landed a shot on a target she couldn’t see at all, but it’d be a lie to say she wasn’t somewhat exited for the chance to try.

They’d barely made it into the foyer before several loud “crack!"s and "bang!"s rang out from the darkness in front of them. In an instant Nori swung her Splatterscope around towards the noises, with so much force it likely would have knocked Callie out if she hadn’t been so startled by the noise that she reflexively went into swim form. As she scanned the darkness in front of her, Nori saw dozens- maybe hundreds- of eyes, reflective and silvery-green, staring back at her. Without a second thought she picked up Callie and ran back towards the door as fast as her shaky legs could carry her. Behind them came terrible shrieking and hissing and the sound of a hundred feet chasing after them.

As she approached the door Nori slipped on an old rug and fell to the floor, sending a cloud of dust into the air and the inkling in her arms out the door and tumbling down the hill the house sat on. Just as Nori scrambled back to her feet, one of the thing’s claws hooked into her jacket knocking off a pin and cutting a small scratch into her skin.

The moment she was out the door she went into swim form, opting to roll down the hill just as Callie had. Once they were both at the bottom, they both sat up to look back at the house. A-dozen-or-so feral salamanders we’re skulking around in front of the mansion, hissing down at the ex-tresspassers at the bottom of the hill. Both breathed a sigh of relief, and Callie helped her girlfriend to her feet, and they walked back towards town in comfortable silence.

Nori turned to her girlfriend with an apologetic look. "I’m sorry we didn’t find any ghosts” she half-wispered, not wanting to disturb the quiet too much. “Are you kidding? That was awesome!” Callie said excitedly, while stimming by shaking her balled up fists up and down as if shaking a spray can or a maraca. “I got to explore a creepy old house, see some scary monsters,” she paused to give Nori a kiss on the cheek, emphasizing her final point, “and I even got saved by a knight in shining armor!”. Nori blushed, and returned the favor by giving Callie a kiss on the forehead.

When they got home, Marie asked if they wanted to come with her to help the rest of the town prepare for the upcoming Halloween party. They both politely declined. All Nori wanted right now was some cuddles with her girlfriend, a new patch for the hole in her jacket, and a call with her doctor to double check she had her rabies shot. But the last two could wait for now.

Hc that despite how fit and athletic Nori is she CANNOT shoot a damn basketball

LMAO I love this idea actually, Nori is more trained in combat so she's athletic in turf wars, but she's never really played other sports before so she is not very skilled in them. Trying out basketball, misses every shot even if her form looks like it would be perfect. Trying to play soccer, can kick the ball hard but puts too much force into it and can't control where it goes. Trying out baseball seems promising since she's fast and can run the bases quickly and shes good at throwing and catching the ball, but can't bat to save her life and always strikes out.

Nori thinks sports aren't for her and would rather stick to turf war and anarchy battles, Callie is trying to be a good sport (no pun intended) and is like "Oh come on babe we just haven't found what your niche is yet! I'm sure if you try out other sports you'll find the one for you."

And Nori looks at her and is like, "Turf wars are sports, my niche is sniping. Other games... well, you can play if you want."

"What if I want you to play with me? Just for fun, pleeaassee?"

"Fine. Only because you will be happy," Nori rolls her eyes and lets Callie drag her to try out another sport or teach her something to play in their free time. And even if Nori isn't very good at whatever sport they're playing, she realizes that Callie isn't very good either, but she still has fun because she's spending time with her girlfriend. Nori learns that it isn't always about being the best at what you do, but being around the best people while you do it.

Nori, but Marie would be close behind to double down on whatever revenge Nori is getting lmao, in my mind Nori is physically faster and stronger than Marie so she would be the one to do it the quickest and her military training helps with her reflexes too. Marie is just a protective cousin who will take out her anger on you, she won't have a rhyme or reason for how she does it.

Meet Nori! [OC]

Nori is the blog’s OC created by various followers and participants to be Callie’s girlfriend!

- Age: 23 - Gender: Trans woman (mtf) - Pronouns: She/her - Sexuality: Lesbian - Species: Octoling - Primary ink color: black - Secondary ink color: silver/grey/blue-grey/purple

Personality: Nori is blunt and straight to the point, she doesn’t joke or use sarcastic tones typically and if she does it’s only around the people she really trusts. Her military training has hardened her mind immensely, any offhand comments or insults directed at her don’t effect her at all, she can withstand harsh emotional trauma with maximum minimal damage, and she is able to think quickly and effectively in crisis situations. 

[Backstory]

Nori was raised in typical octarian dictatorship society, having no contact with her biological parents and only being raised into the military to be a perfect soldier. She was on the same intellectual level as Marina Ida of Off The Hook and had a rivalry with her during their military days, two child geniuses fighting for attention and praise from their leader at the same time. While Marina was more involved in the technical standpoint of the military, Nori advanced to be one of the highest ranking snipers and was tasked with many high profile jobs due to her immense skill.

When Marina went AWOL, Nori became the next most trusted soldier to enter the group of Octavio’s closest subordinates. This allowed her to advance further in the ranks and eventually when the events of Splatoon 2′s hero mode took place, she was tasked with guarding Callie while she was under the effects of the hypnoshades. As she was guarding the inkling, she began to become very fond of her and despite the hypnosis Callie seemed to act genuine around Nori. They both developed feelings for each other quickly and only acted in secret, hiding the friendship and romantic feelings they had gained from the others around them. Callie’s love began to make the effects of the hypnoshades less effective, and likewise Nori began to act more upon her own free will rather than the brainwashed state she had been in for her entire life. Finally, when Agent 4 and Marie rescue Callie, Nori hears the calamari inkantation for the first time, and realizes she doesn’t want to be without the girl who made her life so much more enjoyable. She doesn’t want to be trapped anymore. 

Nori leaves with one goal in mind and wanders through octo valley and octo canyon, nothing but the clothes on her back with her. Along the way a small fry with a helmet-like bucket on his head starts following her, and she has no complaints about the company. The creature ends up sticking with her the entire journey, all the way until she sees the camp where Callie is talking with Marie and Agent 4. Nori runs to her, and Callie meets her halfway while they both are relieved to know their feelings had always been genuine, neither of their hearts had been effected by the hypnosis and brainwashing they endured.

From that point on Nori and Callie have been inseparable, in love, and happier than ever.

Meanwhile Octavio goes absolutely batshit crazy about Nori dating Callie like “YOU’RE DATING THE ENEMY????” Nori has none of it and says shit like “You dated the enemy before no?” Octavio never brings up Nori’s love life ever again after that

Nori would still have an attachment to octavio and the military in general I feel, she left a bit more reluctantly than someone like Marina so she still feels connected to that lifestyle and doesn't quite understand that octavio was doing some pretty bad things to all octarians. slowly as she starts to adjust to life on the surface and comes to understand the tragedies behind octavios actions she would grow more distant from her previous thinking in idolizing him.

both her and marina were VERY high ranking soldiers and in contact with him a lot but idk marina just is different compared to nori, they think differently about their time in the military and nori also left much later than marina did, so she hasn't had as much time to comprehend her past. i think it'd be funny if nori still went to see him once in a blue moon lol like esp after the events of splat 3's story mode i think he'd be a bit more tolerable to be around

then once they get over the fact that seeing callie in public isn't all that rare anymore they notice that she's hanging out with a very tall punk/goth octoling and everyone starts speculating 👀

i just know the tabloids would put out "callie's secret forbidden love?!?!? read more on pg. 5!" articles in their magazines and on the cover for clickbait but... irl.. what is tht called.... irl clickbait....

anyways its mostly the fans who are curious as to who this mysterious octoling is and how callie met her cause it's not someone who has previously been associated with her or the squid sisters yknow

many people are wondering if Nori is like a squid sisters fan that callie is interested in which makes all the celebrity crush bitches go crazy

most fans are genuinely really excited that callie seems so happy and when she's seen with nori clinging onto her arm or hand or touching her jacket the shippers are like "omg this is a huge hint they are absolutely dating" but like, they aren't trying to hide it or anything LMAO callie just doesn't talk to paparazzi

eventually callie would post something on inkstagram like a pic of her and nori together with a heart as the caption and then everyone goes on a deep dive to figure out who nori is, which leads them to finding out her name and basic info like that

someone opens like a discussion post on like... r/squidsisters (LOL im having so much fun with splatoon social media) and its a post like "what is the ship name of callie and her girlfriend nori?" and people in the comments go off about what they think is the best

until this one nerdy squid gets like 100k upvotes and 12 awards for commenting about ancient mammalian history, explaining the prehistoric territories of the "California" state and how they were often referred to as "North California" or "South California" but many people shortened "California" to just "Cali." Also, due to a famous human at the time having a child named "North" who they nicknamed "Nori" the elongated version of Nori(the octoling)'s name would be North, and Callie's could elongate to California and their ship name would be "North California" as a reference to the long gone region.

squid sisters fans take to this idea very well, they begin making ship edits, fanart, fanfics, etc for North California, enough to the point that Nori sees some of it one day

She asks callie what "North California" translates to in octarian, thinking its some kind of inkling phrase she doesn't understand, but callie is like "no babe i dont know what that is either uhh let me try looking it up"

so callie goes on the hunt and tracks down the original post where the comment was made explaining the idea behind the ship name and she thinks its really creative and cool!! she explains the whole thing to nori who is... mostly just confused.

"Ship name? Why are we named together? I am Nori, you are Callie, it is 'Nori and Callie' if we have names together, no?"

"Ship names are mostly for fans, they like to imagine people together so when they talk about them or post about them online it's like a way for them to easily find content I guess! usually they mash the two names together but in this case they got creative. It's just for fun, so apparently we're North California now!"

"Oh, our name for fun, North California. Weird, but I like it."

Nori posts later on her inkstagram thats a pic of her and callie and captions it something like "North California here." and the fans absolutely LOSE IT

North California first Valentines day headcanons!!

Nori has no clue what valentines day is until she meets Callie (like every other holiday to exist)

She doesn't understand the concept of the holiday, why would you celebrate your love on one day? what about the other 364 days?? do you not celebrate your love every single day???

Callie explains that it's like Christmas, you can give someone a gift any other time of the year but during christmas it's special, so V day is like a special day for everyone to celebrate love- and not just romantically but platonic and familial love too!

Nori's like "I do not understand but I will celebrate because it makes Callie happy"

They decide to go for the Classic(tm) dinner date where they get dressed up all fancy and go to an expensive restaurant- Callie's always wanted to do this so she's living the dream and Nori is just happy to be there

Callie wears a mauve jumpsuit that has sheer sleeves and a slight shimmer to the fabric, Nori wears a sleek black long sleeve dress that hugs her figure just right and has a slit down the side for her legs to move freely

(they will be the hot topic of all the tabloids tomorrow morning and they know it, inkadia loves norcal)

they end up having a really nice time! and the two of them are dorks so they laugh throughout the night and get tipsy on expensive wine while they enjoy each other's company

when they get back home, callie walks in to their apartment and sees a boquet of flowers with a card on the table, and rose petals scattered around

Callie is like ???? "I thought you didn't get the idea of celebrating Valentine's day?"

and Nori blushes a little and says "It is like christmas- I love you every day but now is special."

The card is really sappy talking about how much she loves her and its written in beautiful octarian letters which makes Callie even more soft bc she loves when Nori uses her native language, its like a sign of trust or comfortability and she understands octarian just fine so it isn't like its a barrier between them or anything, its just a really sweet sentiment

When she's done reading the card, Callie notices the rose petals aren't just in the walkway and dining room, but they go back to their bedroom as well and she follows them curiously to find Nori had set up candles around their room and a present on the bed

The present is a dainty rose gold necklace with the letter "N" as a charm <3

Callie looks at it and back at Nori and she's like "This is beautiful- how did you know I wanted something like this?" and of course a little birdie (squid) ((marie)) told her that Callie's always dreamed of having cute matching jewelry or wearing her partner's initials

"Help me put it on?" Nori absolutely obliges and clasps the chain around Callie's neck and gives her a kiss right where the charm falls at the base of her neck/collarbone

The both smile at each other and Nori cups Callie's face in her hand as she says, "Perfect... like you."

The rest of their night is up to you for ✨interpretation✨

Octavio knew about Callie’s crush on Nori while she was under his control. Overall he was fine with it cause it’d benefit him and also he’s not an asshole so when Callie asks for Nori to handle her instead of other soldiers he just goes with it

Octavio took Callie because he needed her talents and to lure the NSS in so he could like take em out yknow great zapfish power and all that. which means he wanted to treat her well, he wanted her to stay and - even tho he was using mind control - he wanted her to want to stay as well. originally Nori was assigned the task because Octavio knew he could trust her and she would do it well, just like every other job she'd done before. once Callie started talking to Octavio every now and then about the "pretty guard" she gets to hang out with all day, he was like, "oh great they're gay. fine with me i guess."

we've talked before about how Callie would protest to do anything if nori wasn't the one guarding her, and whenever a different soldier would fill in for Nori she just wouldn't have it. Callie tells Octavio she only wants Nori to be her body guard and no exceptions, if Nori is sick then he better watch her himself. again, he's really not bothered by his hostage having a crush on one of his soldiers, it'd make her want to stay more and perhaps even with the hypnoshades off she'd want to stay because of Nori (he did not consider the fact that Nori would leave the military to go be with Callie- i never said he was smart about this).

Eventually in the far future, if Nori ever goes to pay Octavio a visit and explain her actions, he'd be like "Honestly kid, I get it. I did dumb stuff too back in my day for love. The difference is you didn't make a dumb choice, I can respect what made you leave."

She'd feel comforted by that, knowing the man she idolized throughout her life didn't hate her, as much as she knew she shouldn't continue to strive for his approval. It was the part of her past she still was clinging onto, this would help her let it go.
