HFJONE Theory Thingy ab Bryce, SPOILERS FOR INVESTIGATIONS 4/KYLIE

(This was pointed out by my bf so this moreso his theory than mine, hes got another one too which Imma prob post later but ye-) -

OKAY SO, when Bryce picks up his mail there's a pink letter amongst the pile (for reference, this from EP 11)

It might be possible that this is a pink slip/termination of employment

and in the case that it IS a pink slip (which he does look directly at), he might've been lying about needing to go to work

So, IF he's lying, what's the phone call about? Listening to the clip, the voice on the other end- - OKAY SO I HAD WROTE THE STUFF BEFORE THIS POINT BEFORE KYLIE'S INTERVIEW CAME OUT (LIKE MORE THAN 2 DAYS AGO)

FROM THE NEW INVESTIGATIONS, THE VOICE ON THE PHONE DOESN'T SOUND LIKE KYLIE, I was going to note before that the voice on the other end sounds like it's saying "something something police department" but now on top of that THIS VOICE ON THE OTHER END DOESN'T SOUND LIKE KYLIE (EVEN IF MUFFLED)

Even weirder, if this isn't Kylie, Bryce A) made up a lie about the freezer on the spot and B) doesn't want Liam to know there was a police investigation for some reason WHY? I'm not totally sure- but me and my bf just wanted this pointed out so, ya yeet

Coffee and Comfort Summary: Reader works at a coffee shop and one morning is rough enough that she gets sent home not even 2hrs into her shift. Jay comes home and comforts her.

Waking up for your 8am shift at the coffee shop felt more like waking up for a 6:30 am shift at the coffee shop. You were tired and slow in your movements. You sat down in front of your mirror closet doors like you did every morning out of habit. Quickly changing into your work clothes, you gave yourself a quick pep talk while simultaneously trying to both convince yourself to go into work and at the same time convince yourself to call the manager on duty phone and call off. Opting for the route of needing to pick up your tips, so you had date night money for your date with Jay that weekend, you got up off the floor, zipped up your docs and walked out the door. 

To say you should have called out of work, is an understatement, walking onto the floor and taking a tiny glance to the duty roster, you noticed it looked like every employee under the sun was scheduled for the day. Meaning there would be too many employees and not enough positions or tasks. But alas, you tied your apron and asked, “Where do you want me” to your shift manager. 

“Start on register” she replied and you dutifully went over to the register and signed in. Taking a look at the long line forming outside the shop, you sucked in a breath, thought ‘I need the money’ and waited for the door to be unlocked. 

The chaos didn’t take long to become overwhelming. On top of every employee scheduled, all the new fresh out of training employees were also on the floor. 

“We are out of chocolate croissants” your coworker Amari called out from the food section. 

“Hi, can I get a -” started a customer, “ - 86 the sausage breakfast sandwiches” called out Amari. 

“A iced vanilla latte” concluded the customer. 

“For su-” you began, “we have chocolate croissants again”

“For sure, what size”

“Medium” “you have 2 almond left, and 1 classic left” 

“Hey, I’m looking for Kylie, is she still here?” asked the senior manager in charge. 

“I don’t know” called your shift manager Riley. 

“Ooh, what are we going to get?” asked an overly excited customer to her friends while they waited in line. 

Was the music getting louder? Why can I hear every conversation but can’t finish a single conversation? 

“Your total will be 14.99” you choked out while blinking back tears and hopping the customer in front of you doesn’t see you failing to keep tears at bay. 

“Hi can I -” started the next customer who walked up. 

“I’m so sorry, just give me one second” you choked out, before turning to face Riley. 

“Can I go to the back real fast?” you asked. 

After getting the go ahead, you quickly walked into the back and pulled your neckline of your shirt to your eyes and began crying. And before you could stop it you found yourself hyperventilating. “No, No, No” you audibly exclaimed while trying to get your breathing in check while you started shaking. 

After a few minutes you had staved off the dreaded panic attack but you found yourself panicky, shakey, and on the verge of more tears. But alas, you wiped your eyes with your shirt, took a breath and walked back out on the floor. 

“I’m back” you said as you walked back on the floor, “thanks I needed a moment” you added. 

Riley took one look at you and could immediately tell you weren’t doing good. “Are you okay?” she asked. Normally you would lie and say you were fine, but you really didn’t want to be there anymore, so you actually said you weren’t. 

Next thing you knew you were talking to the senior manager and then being told to go home and take care of yourself. You didn’t need to be told twice. 

Walking into your apartment, you sighed, changed your clothes, and lept into bed and under the covers. 

“Y/N?” called out Jay an hour later. 

Noticing your bag on the floor, he walked towards your room. Opening the door, he noticed your shoes discarded to the side and could hear soft snoring. Gently shaking you Jay called your name until you rolled over and looked at him, “What?” you asked groggily. 

“Why are you home? I thought you worked til 4:30”

“Had a rough morning, got sent home” was all you muttered while cuddling close to your boyfriend. 

“Wanna talk about it?” he asked while shuffling himself to make himself more comfortable on your bed and allowing you to get comfortable curled up next to him. 

“I was just overwhelmed and staved off a panic attack and it was too many people talking over one another, I’m good at my job, I’ve been in food service since I was 15, but today I felt like I was a newbie because I could never finish a single sentence without being interrupted and neither could a customer. It was like if I listened to a customer and drowned out the person on food, then I’d hear what the customer wanted but would miss out on important food items we were out of or running low on. And if I drowned out the customer and listened to what was being said on food, then I felt like an ass having to ask the customer to repeat themself or me guessing what they wanted based off of the limited words I heard them say and if I guessed wrong, which happened a lot, then I look like a ditz who can’t do their job! And I can do my job! I’m damn good at my job!” you cried. 

Jay just held you while you let out your frustrations, “I know, I’m sorry it was overwhelming!”

You cried til you couldn’t cry anymore and you looked up at Jay and sighed, “I’m sorry, I know we were going to hang out tonight and this weekend, but I just have so much anxiety and really don’t want to do anything at least tonight, maybe this weekend we can do something” 

Hugging you close to him, he bent down and kissed your head, “never apologize. You are always so quick to help me after a tough case, the least I could do is return the favor. When Kim and Roman responded to a call at your work and they noticed you weren’t there, when they got back to the district they told me and I knew something was wrong, you never willingly leave work early.” 

“That’s why you knew to come here, I was starting to wonder how you knew I was home. Since normally you come over after I get home.” 

He shrugged and smiled, “now, let’s say you get dressed in comfy clothes, then I’ll take you to your favorite coffee spot for some ice tea and then we’ll come back here and watch all the trash tv shows you want. How does that sound?” 

Smiling, you replied, “Can we watch As The World Turns?” referring to the Soap opera that ran from ‘56 to 2010.

“Anything for you” Jay smirked.

Dutton is just one of many journalists who has chosen to ignore facts, instantly side against Israel and spew lies to the public. From the outside, it looks like Israel’s supporters are losing the information war, as there seems to be an endless wave of fake reports about the country, always putting it in a negative light. 

But Murray, who has been in a similar fight for years against progressivism in the West, is convinced he is making a difference. To him, there is a reason to keep fighting.

“I think I make a lot of headway,” he said. “My view is that 1,000 lies can be corrected by one truth. Obviously social media is testing my theory in real time, but I still believe it. Whenever I’m in a debate with someone who is fervently anti-Israel, I tend to find that audiences appreciate you introducing new facts or little known or unknown facts to the debate. They appreciate that people are pushing back against this. Is there a percentage of the population who simply won’t listen? Absolutely. But the majority of the public is still available. They do listen. And it’s to them that I speak.”

When it comes to Israel, Murray said there are people who “absorb the mainstream media each night, and then they call for the killing to stop and think it’s being done by Israel. In such moments, it’s very important that a voice speaks up and gives courage to others to speak up as well. I have a favorite quote: ‘All I have is a voice to undo the folded lie.’”

Sometimes the lies and criticism come from the Jewish community itself, like when Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) spoke up against the Israeli government, or Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) demanded “No more money to Netanyahu’s war machine to kill Palestinian children.” Why does Murray think this is happening?

“Chuck Schumer, whom I respect, is probably playing a domestic political game in the U.S.,” Murray said. “He’s an intelligent man, and he must know that every Israeli leader would be doing the same thing as Netanyahu [in the aftermath of Oct. 7]. If America had thousands of citizens taken hostage – relative to its size – and tens of thousands murdered in one day, America would be doing much more than Israel is doing, and Schumer knows that. I think it’s about a domestic political game playing out in America, which I regret, because this issue is above politics.”

As a staunch defender of the West and its values, Murray is compelled to support Israel because, as he said, it’s on the front line of the civilized world, defending the West. “Israel has recognizable ethics and culture,” he said. “It’s different, as all countries are, but it’s part of us.” What baffles him – and many others – is the fact that Westerners in America and Britain are supporting every country in the Middle East except for Israel.

“Israel is the one country in which Americans could live in the Middle East,” he said. “I’ve spent enough time in other countries to know this difference. A lot of people don’t. Israel is a core part of the West. When people ask me, ‘Why do you support Israel?’ I say, ‘Why would you support every other country but Israel?’”

THE TRILOGY

(Tonifla’s pov)

It was a cold winters night, and the fire was lit. I gazed upon the girl infront of me, sitting elegantly by the fiery fire. She sighed and took a sip of her hot cocoa, instantly pulling back once she realised it was too hot. I giggled to myself. She’s so clumsy like that, always choking on something or burning herself. She noticed my giggle and glared at me. Her glare was so harmless and goofy. Goofy ahhhh glare fr, I thought to myself.

His giggle is so ugly good lord, i thought to myself. My drink was hot and I hurt myself, and i get a giggle and not a “are you okay”. I need to get rid of his ugly ass.

I stand on the table and start boogieing down to the rhythm while screaming “This that pretty-girl mantra, this that flaunt you

Just touched down in L.A.

It'll be depending on the day.”

I get down from the table and walk over to my love and twerk in her face. 

“YOU LIKE THAT BABY, OH YEAHHH”. My fat ass jiggles and wobbles in her face. I back more into her so she can smell my farts. I let rip and fill her with my love.

(Paytn’s pov)

I suck in the gassy air like its my oxygen. I’m so desperate to be filled with his toxic scent. Suddenly the door swings open and Kylie Jenster walks in. She witnesses the adultery and gasps in shock. Tonifler backs aways from my face and heads towards Kylie Jenster saying “no no bbg, im sorry huzz, i can do the same for you type shit.”

“It’s not the same alpha sigma” Kylier Jenster cries out loud, “You let her inhale your greatest possession”. I giggle in the corner and scream at Kylie Jenster “WOMP WOMP” and start boogieing down to Peggy. I chant the lyrics like it’s the holy bible. 

“I'm in the back of the car with your daddy and hе's twerkin' and poppin' a Perc'

I got him bendin' his bum likе Spice in the back of the van when they stop and search

These men wanna act like a beast, so I put these men in a cage

I made a call, now two days later, my niggas are bustin' all over his face (Bitch)

"Chyna, please have mercy, I ain't gettin' paid till the end of the week"

I don't give a fuck, shut the fuck up, get on your knees and grease my feet”

I use my hand as a microphone and completely absolish them with my mad rapping skills. Kylier Jenster falls against the walls from my overwhelming power and dies. 

Tonifla rushes to her and expells his scent by squatting on her face to try and awaken her, but its useless. Shes gone. 

(Tonifla’s pov)

In honour of Kylier Jenster, a funeral was held the following day. To mourn my beloved. I’m so sorry my love, I didn’t mean to release the air around Paytn. I didn’t realise it was going to cut your long life short. I spoke the eulogy at the funeral.

“Kylie Jenster was an odd individual. She was always burping mid-conversation and biting peoples fingers. But it was her way of showing her love. Oh she had so much to give. So so much. It was too much sometimes. Not gonna lie gang, she was lowkey annoying. ANYWAYS. Shes gone now so i guess move on? I dont know, imma play fortnite after this gang.” I drop the mic and walk back to my seat and manspread. I was so proud of that speech, like good lord I need a job in debating fr. Patyn next to me is squashed because i manspread so far im almost in the splits. Shes gasping for air. 

Angsty Arie (ill think of a stupid ass name soon dw), eyes widened, walks up to the mic post and adjusts her glasses. Shes the priest of the funeral, and she addresses the crowd. “Yall, um okay. Continuing from that speech, I have a special performance for yall.” she smirks and removes her wig and flings it at the crowd. Trumpets erupt suddenly from the crowd and stuns everyone. Angsty Arie pulls off her priesty gown ugly aaahh thing and burns it with a lighter she whipped out of her ass. Disco lights fills the church and Problem by Ariana Grande fills the people (freaky aaahhh song fr). Angsty Arie mounts the blessing table thingie and boogies down to the song, giving a generous performance to the sad loss of Kylie Jenster. 

“Head in the clouds, got no weight on my shoulders

I should be wiser and realize that I've got (I've got)”. 

The song stops and Angsty Arie glares at the crowd. She yells in the mic and recites the rest of the song in her native language, dog. She barks at the crowd - 

“One less problem without ya

I got one less problem without ya

I got one less problem without ya

I got one less, one less problem”

At the end of her riveting performance, she climbs down from her doggy throne and adjusts her ass to face the cheering crowd. She blasts her bum and glitter erupts and everyone parties and celebrates Kylie Jensters death.

It’s been so quiet without Kylie Jenster. It feels like i lost apart of myself that day when she collapsed against the way from the horror of the gassy adultery. I visit her grave at 5:43am to grieve and mourn my ugly girl. I remember the first day we met like it was yesterday. Her ratty, greasy hair was flowy in the wind, blinding her while she stumbled into oncoming traffic. She fell to the road and was about to tbe struck by a long aaahh truck but I heroically saved her stupid life. I jumped in between her and the truck and copped the hit instead of that dumb bitch and ended up in the emergency room for 5 days. I broke 8 bones in my back and tore 5 ligaments. But it was all worth it to save my chopped aaah girl. Tears streamed down my face like diarrhea when i recounter our first memory. Oh, how I miss my gyattless chuzz. 

*A FEW NIGHTS LATER*

(Tonifla’s pov continued)

It was an overcast night, and the stars were covered by the dark, mysterious clouds. The room was dimly lit, with all the lights off apart from a scented candle burning in the corner of the room. Paytn lay helplessly on the silk bed, waiting for me. All the windows and doors were locked, creating a sense of security and intimacy in the hotel room. No one can get in, no one can get out. 

I kissed her neck greedily, and pulled her closer to me. I wanted her to be mine, no, i NEEDED her to be. She was mine, and mine only. I grabbed her hand and pinned it above her head. I slowly sank my attention down.

A soft moan escaped Patyn when our toes interlocked. Our souls were tied as one, our spirits intertwined, as our toes fought for dominance. It was a brutal fight, our skin colliding and scraping in a brutal brawl. Suddenly, a sharp pain pierced my numb foot. Patyn continued enjoying me and didn’t seem to notice, but the ache grew. Agitated, I pushed Patyn off of me, turned on the lights, and inspected my irritation. To my horror, blood seeped from my foot, gushing slowly onto the white silky sheets. “What the f…” I started, then my eyes darted to the abomination of Patyn’s foot. They were claws. Monsters. Beasts. I’m sure Satan had nicer feet than what was presented in front of me. Long, scaly, infected toenails erupted from pale and flaking skin. It was a scene from a nightmare. Blood painted the tips of her claws, but she seemed accustomed to this mess. That bitch was still suggestively smiling at me like she wasn’t just making minced meat from my battered and bruised feet. My disturbing recognition of her devil’s talons was interrupted when she pounced on me, her having control this time. 

“You didn’t think you could escape this, did you baby? We got all night…” she evilly whispered along my ear, sending cold shivers down my spine. What the actual fuck was her feet. I needed to get away, bc like goddamn gurl go visit the pedicures HUN THOSE R SOME SHOCKING CLAWS. I valued my life quite much, and I didn’t want to be shredded alive with those cheese graters. It was sad times like these, where my mind wandered back to Kylie Jenster, and her perfect, suckable feet. She always had pretty, pedicured, perfect toes. Never a toe hair in sight, never a chapped toenail, never a scaly toe skin. They were perfect. Sculpted by the Gods themselves.

At the start of the fic, Regina is a workaholic. She pretty much works every waking hour of her day. She does skincare and stuff as self-care, and does enjoy shopping, but doesn't really have hobbies like that outside of that.

10. 🤫 - Biggest secret?

Hmm, this is actually a tough one. I don't know that I'd call it a secret, but I don't think anyone in her life (read: her job) in New York knows much about her outside of work. I doubt even the people she's "closest" with at that job would even know any of the details of her accident, or where she's really from. (She'd answer "The Chicago area," if asked, which isn't a lie, but is certainly a massive area.) If I were to say in relation to what her family knows about her, she's definitely not fully honest about how much she works every week. Definitely not to Kylie.

14. 🫂 - Favorite way to show affection?

This Regina, like many Reginas, is quite touch starved. If you were to ask her, she'd say gift giving, but the moment she gets a hug or is cuddled in any way, she absolutely melts.

19. 😴 - Sleeping Habits?

Regina's sleep varies a bit. Most days, she sleeps maybe around six hours, and consistently runs on that much sleep for the most part. When she's having a bad pain day, she sleeps a lot to recover. Her record is 16 straight hours of sleep!

6. Hobbies

Post-fic, Regina gets a job with a lot less hours and spends a lot more time with Cady. She ends up going to a lot of events at the high school to support Cady's students, including various mathlete competitions. I also think she gets a lot more into reading, and gets lots of recommendations from Kylie :)

10. Biggest secret

Both Kylie and Cady would say it's not a secret at all, but Regina "secretly" cries at every single one of Kylie's performances she attends, because she's so proud of her. Neither of them ever mention it to Regina, but they talk about it with each other. They let Regina keep pretending she's doing a good job of hiding it from them.

14. Affection

Like I said, she quickly becomes obsessed with cuddles and physical affection once she and Cady start formally dating. If Regina's having a bad day, all Cady needs to do is lay with her and trace patterns on her skin, and Regina completely relaxes. They're too cute.

16. Sleeping habits

Regina starts sleeping more on a more consistent basis, but she still doesn't usually need a full eight hours. She's more likely to sleep in on the weekends, though, or at least, cuddle with Cady in bed all morning. She still gets a lot of sleep when her back is bad, but now she has Cady to take care of her instead of just popping painkillers and passing out until it's over.

I need people to think critically about Leslor because that theory includes but is not limited to the following (which to me makes the theory fall apart)

- it implies that Stevie Fucking Nicks is in on the lie too considering she helped with Jason's Christmas album this year. Do these people really think in this heart of hearts someone who wasn't scared of calling out Katy Perry for thinking other women were her competition would for a second even consider covering for a fake relationship?

- Travis's dad is willing to pass this relationship off to the point where he showed up at the concert on Saturday and was handing out friendship bracelets

- Travis wasted his WHOLE off season following his fake girlfriend around Europe which even at one point involved his brtih and his kids a few times

- Taylor is so wanting to stay in the closet that she was literally willing to fly from Tokyo to Las Vegas after 3 back to back 3.5hr concerts for a fake relationship. Which honestly to anyone with a brain would say that she wouldn't be flagging because that level of bearding would indicate she doesn't want us to be able to speculate. I don't care she has a PJ traveling that way on the heals of the concerts she did in Tokyo would've been incredibly tiring physically even if she did manage to sleep on the plane.

- Travis literally flew all the way to Australia and only stayed a day or two just to see Taylor

- this whole relationship has put Kylie and Jason in the spotlight in a way that I'm pretty sure Kylie has been clear in the past about how she doesn't like the amount of Fame that being associated with Taylor in any way brings

- most importantly I don't think Taylor needs the pr that being with Travis brings her as much as you guys seem to think she does. She was already in the headlines consistently during the past year because of tour a tour which literally sold out so fast that people were dying to see her so much they they were willing to pays THOUSANDS of dollars for a single ticket.

Rain by Jocelyn Samara D Year 1: 2010-2011

erSo I recently found out that 1 year ago, a comic that was INCREDIBLY important to me as a trans middle schooler who went to catholic school had wrapped up. This year, I’ve decided I’m going to read through and review Rain by Jocelyn Samara, 1 year of the comic’s run at a time. First up: Year 1, which covers Chapter 1 (The New Girl) through Chapter 6 (Fallen Angel). I’ll be summarizing the story and characters for those unfamiliar, so feel free to follow along.

There’s a LONG-ASS post under that read more. If you have any experience with the comic or enjoy the post, please talk about it with me. It’ll be a good time.

Year 1 Summary

The star of the show is Rain, a transgender 17 year old girl who moved in with her Aunt Fara after her mother’s death. It starts on the first day of her senior year of high school, the first time she’s ever tried to pass as female in front of... anyone???

Based on some of the language used in the character bios, I should be very clear that this comic is from 2010 and written by a trans woman who is most likely older than most of my followers. There may be language used that you personally don’t agree with. I’m not a fan of being called transsexual myself, but there’s nothing wrong with saying it.

Anyway, the basic gist is that Rain passes EXCELLENTLY and attracts a lot of attention from her male classmates, much to her dismay.

But the men aren’t the only people with their eyes on Rain. Lesbian classmate, Maria and her fake boyfriend, Gavin make a bet of 5 United States Dollars out of who can talk to Rain first.

Here’s the rub: During Role, Gavin seems to recognize Rain’s last name. It’s the same as his childhood best friend, Ryan. Gavin and Maria then banter a little bit, jokingly saying “what if that IS Ryan? could ya believe that?”

Little do they know...

One thing about Rain is that its cast of characters is by no means infallible. Even characters that I came to love, like Maria, are kind of insensitive. Just about no one in this cast has ever MET a trans person in their lives prior to Rain. It’s very true to life in that way. You meet a lot of people that are ignorant or accidentally insensitive. And sometimes, they learn to stick up for you.

The realistic portrayal of how trans teens can be treated by other teens is one of my FAVORITE things about Rain.

Anyway, Gavin brings up Ryan Falherty to Rain, which causes her to panic and run away.

And Crash Directly into the fifth member of our main cast, RUDY!!!!

A rather gossipy gay boy that sees up Rain’s skirt and thinks she’s just a REALLY brave gay dude. He tells Gavin and Maria pretty much right away and Gavin does not take it well. The majority of Year 1 is spent on Gavin and Rain repairing their strained friendship after years apart from one another. That begins here, with Gavin confronting Rain about her identity.

Gavin’s super upset about the whole deal, but Maria and Rudy are some of Rain’s biggest shooters going forward. Even if they can ask a LOT of invasive questions.

If I’m being completely honest, there’s no MAJOR developments in Chapter 2. Fara gets a call from Rain’s older Sister about how their older Brother hasn’t talked to either of them in forever. This lays a few seeds for later events, but it is PRETTY unimportant for a while. There’s some really good emotional dialogue in it though.

In Chapter 3, Rudy’s meddling directly causes Rain and Gavin to reconcile. They have a discussion about how the reason she never told him was just that she was scared to lose her only friend.

MEANWHILE, in an attempt to make some actual friends, Fara reaches out to her neighbors and meets Ky(lie) and Heather Coven, a Gender Ambiguous Teen who goes to a different high school and her less approving older sister.

Kylie, also known as Ky, swaps gender presentations incredibly frequently, not really showing any bias for one or the other. So do not expect me to be consistent with their pronouns. Their gender is kinda messy. Almost like he’s some kind of... real person with a real life gender. Crazy.

Anyway, Fara invites them over and she and Heather get drunk, which means she can’t pick up Rain from the mall. Rain needs a place to sleep that night and Gavin invites her to stay with him.

This begins Chapter 4, in which Gavin and Rain realize that things may be different from when they were kids... but there’s a lot that hasn’t changed. Gavin remarks about how much more feminine Rain is than when she was a kid and how that’s WEIRD for him... but they end up playing a game from their childhood pretty much all night. It reminds them of all the good times and ignites within them the hope that they can have MORE good times going forward.

As an adult with friends I’ve had on-and-off relationships to, this speaks to me way more powerfully than ever before. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

The next day, during her hangover, Fara sees Rain’s older brother on an ad for a dating website with his new fiance.

And on the way back to her apartment, Rain meets Ky for the first time. Neither one of them is aware that the other one has ANY kind of Gender going on and they won’t be for quite some time.

The chapter ends with Aunt Fara telling Rain about what happened with Aiken.

Chapter 5 is a simple one, Popular prep girl, Emily is giving out invitations to a Halloween party for her “perfect senior year”

Everyone but Rudy gets one, which causes Maria to give Emily a talking to. She assures Maria that he wasn’t intentionally excluded and it definitely wasn’t because he’s the only openly gay student in the whole school.

Oh, also a dude beats Rudy up for that exact reason, earning Maria’s fury later on. Rain invites Ky to come with the rest of them to the party.

Like I said, pretty simple chapter.

The last chapter of year 1 is Chapter 6: Fallen Angel.

Everyone is showing off their Halloween costumes before they leave for the party. Rudy’s reads as a bit insensitive to rain, as he goes as.... a high school girl.

We’ve all heard this one, right? young queer person that wants to toy with their gender expression uses a Halloween costume as an excuse? It can hit different watching your friend do this when you’re a stealth trans person and especially when you’re one as self-conscious as Rain.

When they reach the address for the party, they find out that Emily... has an older Boyfriend. Like, a WAY older boyfriend. Who lets all these literal teenaged children drink at a party in HIS HOUSE.

also he’s dressed as the devil in case you needed any more signals he was BAD NEWS.

This sounds like a good time for an aside: Fara is on a date with someone she met online. He works at a manga translator and offers to get Rain a meeting with her favorite mangaka.

Meanwhile, at the party, Chase seems to recognize Rain from somewhere. What could this mean?

Anyway, remember how I mentioned the underage drinking? Yeah, Rudy is HELLA drunk. And the results are not pretty.

The whole school sees this and is... BAFFLED. Because of course, Rudy is gay. how could he kiss a girl? Did he do it because he was dressed as a girl? Was it the alcohol? was RAIN Gay? Who knows?

The chapter ends on Rain riding home in tears.

Thus ends the first year of Rain.

Art

Ok, let’s talk about the elephant in the room. This art is... not too impressive. Every character looks like they jumped out of a How to Draw Manga book and Rain’s design is VERY 2010. Backgrounds are infrequent and many panels feature just 2 characters next to each other against a flat color.

But I think that’s okay. While the visual design of Rain is not immaculate, it’s certainly passable. Samara had a story to tell and she didn’t let her art hold her back. She just took pen to paper and let it go. As the comic goes along, you can tell she’s trying different things and experimenting with drawing a variety of poses. That said, the art style never really changes at all during the comic’s run.

Pure Unfiltered Story Opinions

Rain was one of the first real queer stories I’d gotten a chance to read. At the ripe, young age of 12, every word of it was unreal to me. A girl like me made REAL friends in spite of it all and got to be who she was. And now, reading it again, it really holds up.

Rain has a depiction of queer friendships that’s very true to a lot of peoples’ lived experience. Not everyone GETS each other, but they try. Sometimes, they ask a stupid-ass question. Sometimes, you get into fights. 

Also, sometimes people in your high school get prayed upon by creepy weirdos in their late 20s who think they can get easy tail from CHILDREN. (Trust, people. This gets addressed. This is NOT a fucking glorification and if anyone in the notes says it is, they’re blocked.)

I look forward to seeing where the comic goes from here and I hope you’re ready to take that journey with me.

This is the point I’ve been trying to make for years . Kris is a business genius and a mother of course she’s gonna game , lie ,exploit and hustle for her kids. If she did set them up , TC is grown and it’s his choice . There is a woman that I work with who literally scopes out our surgical residents to set up her daughters and nieces . We call her the husband hunter and and she’s 3/5 for successful marriages. Hollywood is definitely weird but a lot of the stuff that happens isn’t that outrageous.

This type of stuff happens all the time! Shoot...my mom tries to set me up with random guys sometimes that she thinks are "good" for me lol... Too bad we don't have the same taste in men AT ALL lol 😅🤣

But yea, this isn't anything all that scandalous. And if a man gets "caught", it's because he WANTED to be caught. One thing I know about men is that they usually do not do what they don't want to do. 👀
