𝐅𝐨𝐫 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐞𝐤𝐬 #𝐦𝐚𝐩𝐚𝐝𝐯𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 I grabbed my 1868 Plumas County map (original plan) and headed for the Eastern portion of 𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐡’𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬. I’ve always loved this drive and often find myself wondering about the historic towns that dot the valleys picturesque landscape. The only problem… When I looked at my 1868 Plumas map not 1 of the towns on my drive were on it.So after some exhaustive research 𝐭𝐡𝐞 #𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐦𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐨 𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝟏 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝟏𝟕 𝐡𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐫𝐢𝐜 𝐦𝐚𝐩𝐬❗ That’s right 1 every decade from 1853 to 2022. Making this 𝟏𝟖𝟎(𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭)𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐣𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐁𝐞𝐜𝐤𝐰𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐡’𝐬 𝐩𝐚𝐬𝐬. I learned about the myth, the man, the LEGEND Jim Beckwourth, used my maps to find towns that are long gone, learned a little history about the towns that show up on the maps today. I got to wander amongst the ruins of a few ghost towns. Hit up an old cemetery, searched for gold and Gerry found a new project car. All in all it was a great it was an eventful 180(almost) year journey.
