Fields of Mistria Bachelor PDA Headcanons

Some are longer than others, so if you want me to expand on anyone, let me know! I'm also thinking of making one for the bachelorettes, so please let me know if that's something you're interested in.

Balor:

I don't think he's against PDA

he's a private guy, but I feel like he's more reserved with his feelings than his actions

he'll have his arm around you at the bar

some whispering in your ear that makes Elsie coo about her and Frederick

maybe a kiss on the cheek if he's had enough to drink

but I'd say that's where the PDA ends on his part

hugging and kissing in public might be a bit too soft for the image he has

if you initiated any PDA, he wouldn't deny you (barring a full makeout sesh, then he would take it somewhere private)

Eiland:

he loves holding your hand

anywhere and everywhere

at the saturday market? holding your hand

in a meeting with Adeline? holding your hand

running a D&D session? maybe not holding your hand, since he's rolling dice and flipping through his notes, but he'll give you a kiss on the cheek and squeeze your hand when you stop by

it's very innocent PDA, wholesome in a way that makes the kids say "ew"

Hayden:

this man has no shame

he will hug you, kiss you, pull you into his lap, carry you in his arms no matter who is watching

I don't think it gets steamy or anything, but there is always some physical contact happening

he's just so proud of you and proud of being your partner, why wouldn't he touch you?

March:

when you first get together he does not touch you in public

even in private, he doesn't initiate physical affection

but when you initiate? oh boy

he's so touch starved

if you reach out to hold his hand, he's gripping it for dear life

if you're in public he will not look at you though (or anyone else, for that matter)

it's a full 180 when he's drunk, though

he's hanging off of you like a sack of potatoes

sloppy kisses on your cheek, hugging you

if he's really hammered he just might break out into song

and then the next morning he refuses to look at you again (it's a work in progress)

over time, he gets less shy and initiates more

but it's still going to be on the more reserved side

Ryis:

he's so smooth with it

sometimes it takes you a solid couple of minutes to realize he's even touching you, it's so natural

I think he prefers having his arm around you; it's casual, you're close, it's a win win

he has a similar mindset to Hayden in the sense that everyone knows you're together, why hide it?

pretty much glued to your side, whenever people talk to one of you and the other isn't there, they ask about your other half

Caldarus stands faithfully at the entrance to your farm, as tall and rigid and stoney as always. He’s awkward but it hardly shows, feeling the tendrils of sleep creep into his brain while knowing he will never truly be asleep.

Ironically enough, he will also never truly be awake.

He will forever be unaware of what led him to becoming nothing but a humble lawn ornament on your lawn, surrounded by the stone furniture you collected from the museum, placed to create a happier space around him. He is thankful for the gesture, yet another act of kindness he owes you for, even though he claims not to need it. It’s people like you who make the world turn. It is people like you who change the world. Caldarus knows that.

The lights in your house are on. The sheet of snowflakes makes the light seem fuzzy, and the wind is steadily growing stronger, but the warm glow of your presence does not fade. For some reason, he finds it difficult to take his eyes away from it. In all the years you’ve been here (what was it now, four? five?) he’s never felt this way. It puzzles him, like an ancient riddle or a new device humans created to keep up with the times.

People like you are always doing better, scrambling for a perfection that doesn’t exist. It’s as admirable as it is foolish.

He hears the door to your house open, and he’s certain his ears would have perked up had they not been stones. He can’t move his head but that doesn’t stop the instinctual urge to turn his neck, to see you, to catch even a single glimpse of what you were doing.

He’s thankful when you appear in the corner of his vision, making your way past the stone lamps and onto the giant stone pathway you put in front of his statue, a sign of respect for him and a testament to your hard work keeping the weeds and debris away from him.

“Hi Caldarus. I made you something.” you smile, and it’s only then that he notices the multicolored bundle in your arms.

“Oh?” he inquires, “What is it?”

You unfurl the bundle with a flick of your wrists, revealing a tapestry of some sort. Caldarus stares warily as you clamber onto his pedestal, positioning your body directly in front of him as you spread the colorful sheet over his body.

“A blanket?” he asks incredulously, a deep chuckle rumbling through his stone maw, “I told you, I have no need for such things. You didn’t have to do this.”

“I wanted to.” you say sternly, adjusting the blanket so it fits over his back, tucking it around his shoulders securely, “Comfort is a luxury and you deserve it.”

He wishes he had something to say to that. Something witty, or something wise, or something to ignore the way something inside him melts, warm and heavy and thick. It sinks into every atom of his being, and although he isn’t breathing (he hasn’t done so properly since he was turned to stone) and feels his chest shudder.

Oh.

Oh.

You step back and admire your handiwork, your warm hand gentle against his cold cheek. Your mouth is moving but he can’t hear the words you’re saying, his ears are too busy ringing and his eyes are flicking between you and the tips of the blanket wrapped around his shoulders.

“You look cozy.” is what he hears you say, and you laugh so sweetly it sends his heart ablaze.

How could he be such a fool?

All that time he spent watching you tend to your crops, all that encouragement he offered you when you helped out the town, all of the snippets of your conversations he overheard, all of his yearning to retain that information if nothing else—

It was love.

“Thank you.” he says, voice gravelly with gratitude.

You perk up at his thanks and pat his snout, jumping off his pedestal and landing gracefully on the snow in front of him.

“Reckless.” he tuts, because what if you sprained an ankle or broke a leg, humans are so fragile and he is in no position to take care of you.

“I’ll be okay Calda. You know that.” you salute, going on your merry way with a promise to be back before nine and to sit with him until midnight.

For the first time, Caldarus feels impatient for your return.

When your dragon neighbor calls you to talk to him, and your character end ups standing on the stone bench you put there to make the area look pretty... pffft. All I can think of is maybe my character wanted to be closer to eyelevel, so she stood on the bench to look at Caldarus properly. Lol.

I need this game to let me toss a blanket over him when it snows. Hmmm. Maybe torches are a thing you can craft later. Place 'em around him so he can stay toasty in the winter. Caldarus, bestie, I got you! I'll figure something out.

I love him so much. T_T

I'll have you know I've been playing farm sims since I was, like, five, March. I know exactly what I'm doing. I've been jumping fences since Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland. The swimming bit and magic is new, but FIGHT ME, MARCH. The second blue cows are unlocked and my man Caldarus is no longer a statue, I will be unstoppable.

Caldarus:

Since I cannot predict the future, we're just gonna go with the statue version

He would feel SO BAD because he can't really physically touch you

I mean you could attempt to hug his statue but even that would receive a somewhat negative response from him

Not because he doesn't like it but because he can't do anything

I think the first time he flustered you was by accident but he thought it was really amusing so he kept doing it

Like the first time it happened was probably due to what seemed like a simple compliment to him but a deeper one to you and you took it to heart

Anyway back to the main topic, I feel like there isn't much you can do

You can't bring him anywhere, and how can you explain that you're talking to a statue?

So most of the time all the bonding you have is you gossiping to him about the town folk

I can see him initially being a quiet listener to the point of it seeming like he doesn't care

But you can tell he does when he brings up the topic days later in an attempt to start a conversation

You'd have to explain certain things to him because yk...era differences and such

But he really does appreciate the time you take out of your day to talk to him. I mean, depending on how you cleared the area around his statue, he sees how hard you work everyday, so the fact that you stop to talk to him means a lot

Please decorate the area around his statue. He'll be kinda nonchalant as usual because really what does that do for him, but he really does appreciate it, even if those exact words aren't said

Honestly he's genuinely so confused on why you haven't left him for one of the townsfolk

Not because he has a low self esteem, but due to his current state

Since he really doesn't understand it, it'll always be at the back of his mind

Honestly solid 9/10 bf despite his state (I'm so biased)

Ryis:

You guys are THE couple

Well obviously but you two are the type of people that old people look at and laugh under their breath to just say "young love ☺️" like this is almost movie-like

I feel like in terms of love languages, acts of service is gonna be a big thing, and words of affirmation as well

Both of you are busy but there is a noticeable change in how much time he takes out of his day to talk to you

Always remembers important dates. Like it's highly likely that you're the one forgetting important dates instead of him

He's an amazing communicator too. If you're struggling to tell him something that he did that bothered you, he's already apologized for it, boom.

I don't think it's often that you two get into arguments

Not because he's nonconfrontational, but because he's really easy to make compromises with, he's not stubborn at all when it comes to you

The "mama y papa" audio went into my head and that's probably what it feels like when anyone is stuck with you two. Literally the parent couple

It probably gets to a point where people forget that there was a time where you two weren't together

I feel like once you get flustered, he gets flustered because he thinks about what he said that made you react that way and he's like oh.

I can't see him being super touchy but I don't think he would mind you clinging onto him anyway

I don't even think he would notice until someone mentions it

Usually he has a hand on you anyway. Your waist, your shoulder, your hands, your back, your thigh (if he doesn't get too flustered in the moment) literally damn near anywhere

He's literally almost perfect I cannot think of a problem besides him being busy, 9/10

March - April's Partner; was the first to confess his feelings after learning about what Julius (one of my other FoM OCs) put her through and realizing just how strong and resilient she really is. (Though, March had a massive crush on her before this, but it prompted him to act on his feelings instead of burying them)

Caldarus - April feels close to Caldarus and knows she can turn to him if no one else is around. Caldarus also feels very close to April and admires her. Both of them want to protect each other, no matter what.

Celine, Reina - April considers Celine and Reina to be her closest friends aside from Caldarus and Ryis. The two of them, however, had little crushes on April (these crushes fade once April starts dating March, and when their own LIs (some of my other FoM OCs) enter the picture

Ryis - April feels comfortable and close to Ryis. Ryis also considers April to be a good friend, but prefers to be March's wingman and likes seeing them together

Balor - April considers him only as a friend, but Balor had a little crush on her for a while before it also faded (he also meets another FoM OC of mine who later enters the picture)

Adeline - April considers Adeline a friend, but prefers to keep a professional distance between them. Adeline is more so infatuated with April and her work ethic rather than having any feelings for her

Eiland, Hayden, Valen - Good friends, definitely a bit closer to Hayden as a fellow farmer

Priestess - April's curious about the Priestess down in the mines. She wants to help her and uncover the mysteries of the seals and what's down in the mines. The Priestess also reminds April of her party's cleric, Cannenta (<- a FoM OC of mine that will be introduced in the future)

Juniper - The only person April dislikes. This is largely because she dislikes how she uses her potions on people unwillingly and it just reminds her of a lot of people she encountered, including Julius who used his magic for harm against others.

The Older Mistrians - April has a generally positive relationship with them. Out of all of them, April considers herself closest to Terithia (she also admires her for her past on the battlefield, as she can relate), and Olric since he's March's brother

The Vendors - Doesn't get a chance to talk to them much, but has a generally good rapport with all of them

The Dragonguard - The kids really like April, and she finds them cute. Has a soft spot for Dell since she can relate to her love of swords and she also reminds her of herself when she was younger

Dozy and Henrietta - April adores animals, pet and/or farm animals alike! Both Henrietta and Dozy have a neutral, but positive view of April

Now that we have a Shooting star festival in game I think now ive realised one minor gripe I have with Mistria.

I dont think Caldarus should've been revealed as a romancable out the gate.

Like it does give you something to look forward to in future updates but in terms of gameplay, currently, you can't do *anything* with this knowledge, you can't raise hearts or invite him to the Shooting star festival.

In my opinion, it would've been a nice supprise if/when we see his humanoid form, his Icon changes to the heart instead. I think it would go better with his storyline, but I don't know if I'm the only one who thinks that.
