Caladh (Kyles of Bute)

1888. Obviously inactive as a lighthouse for many years but charted as a daybeacon. Approx. 8 m (26 ft) round masonry tower with a window at thes top through which the light could be displayed. Lightphotos.net has a closeup photo, Wikimedia has a photo, and Google has a satellite view. Newman rediscovered this largely forgotten lighthouse in April 2002 but we need information on its history. Located on the west side of the entrance to Loch Riddon about 4 km (2.5 mi) northeast of Tighnabruaich, not far off the A8003 highway. Site open, tower closed. Owner/site manager: unknown. ARLHS SCO-304.

Remember the story about the someone stupid enough to piss of a god of plagues? Yeah, that was Cal. (First name Caladh, surname pending.) In his defense he was one of the original witches created for the purpose of bringing down Apollo's literal father. Regardless of whether there's any love lost between Apollo and Zeus, the fact in Cal's case is that he pissed off a god of plagues. Of course he definitely feels like he got the last laugh in that fight, ultimately. Over the centuries he's been through the ringer. For a long time he has dealt with addiction and the repercussions that it has had on his immortal life. Over the last century he has maintained a predominantly sober life, no longer feeding on addicts to get a high. He has been the head of the local vampire nest in Anguish for the last 60 years. He's thrilled to see the return of his sister's children. (The Hawthornes.)

Fun Fable Fact as we near the end of the series:

Ulysses’ name being Ulysses was a very last minute decision! The character was mostly developed (albeit INCREDIBLY different from how he is now) but I had a whole list of names which Jamie helped me narrow down!

Other possible names included:

Odysseus (too on the nose)

Telemachus (Telemachus the Telchin sounded a little too silly)

Argos (too similar to Project Argus)

Themistocles (recycled into “Themist” as a last name)

Neptune (again, a little on the nose)

Asklepius/Askles (reused for his mentor figure later!)

Ahab (was a close runner up)

Ishmael (likewise, but similarly to Telemachus, Ish the Fish felt a little too silly for the vibe)

Cad é sin don té sin by Caladh Nua title, as included in the chorus, translates to "what does it matter to those it doesn't concern?" and is basically a "mind your damn business" anthem. the irish language contains multitudes and so does this song

This is a lullaby that Gondor Girl’s mom sang to her before she died. A Dol Amroth lullaby. It’s been passed down in their family for generations, sang from mother to daughter. Boromir definitely picked up the tune and would sing it to GG since their mother no longer could. And GG will sing it to her own daughter.

16. Noble Maiden Fair - Ashley Serena, Karliene

This is a lullaby that the nurse who raises GG in her mother’s absence sings. Definitely an old Minas Tirith lullaby. Also a lullaby that GG will sing to her children.

Notes:

4 and 10 have daydreamed escenarios attached that i will share with you as part of the gift.

The " mind your own damn business" energy of 4 makes me think on her and Faramir on Minas Tirith. Used to be the center of their father's critics, this quite honest duet song makes me think of how they feel and how they would vent to each other when Denethor isn't watching.

10 was added because some time ago i had a massive meltdown imagining her, still in her lady like persona, singing a lullaby to the hobbits on their last night in Rivendel right before the Fellowship leaves to start the journey. That song fitted the vibe of my daydream, although i would obviously imagine a less spectacular version.

15 June Caladh Harbour to Lochranza (Arran) 2 nights

The winds had moved round to the south and therefore on the nose so we largely motored to the northern most port on the island. Picked up one of the numerous blue visitors buoys and dinghied ashore - our first trip in the wee boat since our holiday began. Good pub food in the local Inn. Rain came on our second day but this did not deter our trip along the coast to the Fairy Dell ( see if you can spot the important geological feature below, not Ian btw) and an afternoon spent in the local Distillery. The winds had turned to the north and although not windy swell built up on the harbour so we moved to the pontoon for a while. OBD followed with store cupboard pasta and a dash to the pub to watch the end of the England game.
