I was a member of the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls for 8 years-and it was the best decision of my life. As a girl, I would see pictures of my mom in pretty dresses and, of course, I wanted to be just like her! All I had to do was join Rainbow. So in December of 2006, I did. And I was welcomed with open arms into San Pablo Assembly #117. Throughout the years we would become sisters through service projects, fun events like 'mystery trips' (to secret destinations planned by one girl), and Official Visits and Receptions for the state officers each year. In 2014, I was chosen to represent all of California on the state level. I am so blessed for that opportunity, because without it I would not have grown in public speaking, leadership, (and many other life skills), and could have missed the amazing friendships with many of the people in these pictures. Each year, a service project is chosen for all of the Rainbow Girls in California to fundraise for. This year it is the Bay Area Cancer Connections, which link women with similar diagnoses, treatments or ages together for a sense of community during their fight. If you would like to support this amazing organization, find your nearest Rainbow girl and let them know you want to help.
