rewatching MCD from S1 and like.

it's so silly that they had four shadowknights in phoenix drop in order to kill one lord and then had them doing all these seemingly pointless shenanigans BUT. from vylad's perspective he must have been terrified.

i'm PRETTY SURE it's in line with his character that he DOES love and care about his brothers, or at least garroth. imagine having three super powerful and/or high-ranking shadowknights hanging around your brother's home and they just won't fuck off AND you're being watched all the time. you're watching them cause harm or straight up kill people RIGHT UNDER YOUR BROTHER'S NOSE. there's barely any wiggle room. vylad's attempt to dispatch zenix resulted in the near-death of a civilian AND turned zenix against him (i imagine they maybe had a frail sort of "alliance" after they all murdered malik bc they assumed they were on the same side).

idk i'm just saying i think the man must have been STRESSED trying to get ANYTHING done.

my dead shadowknight post brought up some concerns that i wanna respond to :3

WARNINGS FOR: brief mentions of misogyny, drugging, human trafficking, horror, body horror, torture, murder, and sexual assault.

anyway if you're new to my blog i write about a lot of dark shit? shadowknights are cannibals in my rewrite. gene is a fucking freak and torments dante for like a week by leaving headless things on his doorstep. shadowknights get parasites. the nether is a living organism so the entire realm is like,, meat and flesh and bone and blood. i'm not sure if i've said this, but shadowknight bodies usually fall apart so they can be remade stronger, like molting for a spider.

i love minecraft diaries, but in my head it's dark all on its own? like there are quite a few rape implications (gene and the lord's daughter, and i think i've seen some convos about michi being implied to have assaulted laurance asp? not sure but yeah), drugging + human trafficking, misogyny, torture, murder, even killing your OWN kid (irene and her daughter), etc.

i know full-well that what i write about is dark, but that's why i always put warnings at the top of my post so people can avoid it. if people feel like my warnings are inaccurate, or that i should start putting them in the tags, please let me know! because i'm more than willing to do that so people can be safe and selective about the material they're consuming.

anyway sorry this is rambly!! again i'm not mad :) i'm going to put a warning on my introduction post, but from here on out: if dark themes like murder, cannibalism, body horror, etc. disturb you, this isn't the blog for you!

WARNINGS FOR: snake anatomy/nervous systems, angst, body horror?, death.

i watched a short video about how the nervous system of a snake to programmed to attack at any stimuli (or something like that) because they attack and evade at the same time, so they have to be able to move fast. this is why even dead snakes, decapitated or hollowed out (the video was freaky asf idk why the guy had that ://) or otherwise, well, dead, try to strike.

anyway the reason i'm sharing this is because i think shadowknights are similar. an incapacitated knight will still react to external stimuli and respond aggressively—like when aaron knocks laurance the fuck out in s2 of MCD in scaleswind?? yeah you've solved the issues of a possessed enemy, but now you have an unconscious enemy that DEFINITELY can't rationalize against trying to strike you 💀

dead shadowknights (i.e, those who have had their hearts removed) tend to... flounder for a few moments. they gasp, pant, and grasp at their chests, but they don't feel any pain after the heart is removed, just an absence. as the seconds tick on, they'll begin to tremble and cry, cold to the touch for the first time in decades; sometimes, in that moment right before the final death, they call out for people they used to know. stuff like "mama? mama, it's cold. i'm scared."

and then they die.

man trying to make a timeline for this shit is hard 😭🙏 MCD presumably takes place during the real world medieval era but the wikis say shad and irene are anywhere between 7,000 to 9,000 years old, so if the current aphverse year is 2024, then the divine warriors would have had to be born in 4,976 B.C AT LEAST and the oldest recorded date is 4,241 B.C ;-;

this is a struggle for me just bc i use irl history and shit to formulate this stuff and my brain is not pleased that the divine warriors predate the oldest civilizations by at least a couple centuries </3

anyway this to say i'll be doing what i do best and ignoring it.

okay i'm sorry but shad's crash-out after finding out irene killed their daughter (which she did to MULTIPLE PEOPLE. LIKE. PEOPLE SHE PRESUMABLY CARED ABOUT, SPECIFICALLY) and that his friends were going to kill him was actually perfectly reasonable and i really can't be dissuaded.

also the wiki implies that the relic itself made him volatile as fuck so honestly irene had no one but herself to blame for shad's spiral?? 😭😭 LIKE I'M NOT SAYING SHAD IS A GOOD GUY BUT I'D BECOME THE VILLAIN TOO IF I GOT DONE LIKE HE DID.

anyway i really hope MCD aphmau was never irene at any point and was just a descendant because it's kind of odd to kill your lover (? husband? boy that she liked a little more than the others?) and then wind up with his x-whatever great grandson... ESPECIALLY if aphmau was supposed to recover her memories as irene.

idk if this makes sense and i THINK we're in the clear (i know irene is separate from aphmau in mystreet+, and season 3 of MCD may imply it because i remember irene trying to instruct aphmau, but that could be her subconscious)... but yeah. was always a little weird to me so i've always pictured them all as descendants, not reincarnations LOL.

what if shad's daughter was absolutely terrified? what if she tried to find her mother amidst the blinding light of the canon and cry for her? what if she begged for help, the best way a little girl can, only to realize no one was coming to help? what if she died terrified and angry at being abandoned and that agony was immortalized in her relic?

and what if this is what makes the relic so volatile? eirene may say all sacrifices are necessary for the betterment of the world, but how is a child going to understand that her mother chose everything else, anything else but her? how is she going to forgive? how is she supposed to let go?

and what if she could communicate this to her father, the only one she knows to be in her corner? after the absorption of the relic, she hears him cry all night. she listens to every prayer and she doesn't understand the fervent hush but she thinks she can answer them. so slowly, incrementally, her fear bleeds into his body, her memories become his, until suddenly

he knows.

he knows she lied. he knows her tears were fake when she wept next to him. he knows eirene killed his daughter.

but most importantly, he knows his daughter is not truly dead.

she's in his heart, hidden behind ribs and meat and flesh, where she can't be reached and can't be hurt. this may not be how he wanted to carry his daughter, but he won't risk losing her again.

even if it means giving everything else up.
