She seemed so ... out of place here. She didn't know why she kept thinking it, but those thoughts came unbidden whenever Edelgard spoke. Her voice ... manner of speaking ... the clothes. They were not so out of this world ... but they did seem ... uncommon.

Perhaps Shadowheart had not yet seen enough of the realms abundance to come to such a conclusion, however. Still, the feeling remained that ... Edelgard was a bit ... otherworldly. And more so than someone who wasn't native to Baldur's Gate.

" Shadowheart trailed off as they entered a larger part of the cave, much more breathable here, even if the air tasted like acid and noxious fumes. anyways, both the reader (or you lol) and reiner could not keep each other's hands off each other after that night, even though you swear on your entire family's dead souls that you hated him. his big fat cock was too irresistible to continue abstaining from and it's reiner, bro's a little too insatiable for only one round. he ain’t complaining though and he loves to fuck out those endearing i love you’s out of you, so two wins for him ig 😭

you were completely alone when you were going through the beginning symptoms of pregnancy, unaware of why you kept vomiting so often or why you had to go to the bathroom even more than before or why you were so fatigued after barely doing anything. when you went to the doctor, that’s when you finally found out that you were already 2 months pregnant. getting out of the office, you kinda snapped out of the housewife-sona you’ve developed in order to cope and become extremely aware of what was happening to you. you cried a lot, absolutely terrified that this was actually happening to you. you barely had your mom most of your life so you didn't know what you were going to do next, all you sorta knew what to do was to make sure that both you and the baby were going to be healthy for the rest of pregnancy.

reiner didn't know about it since he had to leave to go fight some more after a two month absence of him "taking care" of you and your injuries. he sorta did know that he had already gotten you pregnant from all those nights and afternoons fucking on every single surface of the home nonstop, but you never know. so when he came back about a month-ish later, his jaw dropped to the floor when you turned around with a slight bump in your stomach (around this time, you’re like maybe 3-4.5 months pregnant now).

he’s absolutely over the moon but you start crying in front of him, admitting that you’re so scared of the unknown future and what if he actually leaves for good (the abandonment issues are at an all time high bc of hormones and bc he did tell you that he’s going to eventually die in a couple of years 💀). reiner merely hushes you and tells you that you'll be a great mom and he'll be there for you for as long as he lives. it doesn't really make you feel better but the reassuring look in his eyes makes you feel some sort of dull comfort, it's better than nothing ig lol

reiner asks to be sent less often to the wars just so he won't miss the birth of his child or let you get injured again since you're alone most of the time. they grant this for him but they did dock his pay bc of it and it's not that bad of a cut, just more budgeting is going to be more involved in y'alls lives.

TBH i feel like desiderate bertolt is more stronger than cacoëthes reiner, cause even in the canon storyline, bertolt was the one who was picked over reiner for the titan holder (we all know bro did NOT get chosen at all) and has the considerably strongest Titan before eren’s attack titan/founding titan form. but bert’s pretty lanky and reiner is much more beefier than him, even when he was going through it, BUT ALSO BERT IS MUCH TALLER THAN HIM SO?????

BUT THEN AGAIN reiner did amazing in the training scouts as he came in second place, over both annie and bertolt, two of the holders that were also chosen for their titans before reiner was swapped and reiner is also the one alive compared to bert (isayama tysm LMAO) 😭 but given that, i feel like cacoëthes reiner is more powerful strategically since desiderate bertolt wasn’t even the one that planned the entire kidnapping for his reader, he just asked reiner if he could so reiner could plan how to sneak her away from the others along with them LOL reiner in his story was already locked in from the beginning stages on how to bring her back to marley too and how to break her in slowly to have a family with him 💀

i think also in terms of scuffling, we know that reiner in s4 struggled really mentally to win any fights bc of his guilt towards his paradisian friends and from his struggle of his identity of being a warrior and a scout, so he also has that handicap, cause i think bertolt has less guilt about it since his dad came before all of them (he’s also the one without a mental disorder so 💀😭)

but in short, reiner does go off into the same plotline (he’s just a little less self-deprecating since he has a family to live for now) and does get released from the titan holder curse. i think i did also say that reader was with his mom at the time of the rumbling (still pregnant) so yk how they turn into titans for like a bit? she turns into one BUT DW THE BABY IS NOT AFFECTED OR HARMED DURING THIS PROCESS 😭‼️ and bc he now is able to live longer, both him and reader are still together and they’re working it out (not really, reiner’s still pretty controlling but becomes more lenient for reader since his paradisian friends are back and he knows how much reader missed them, and he’s still feels sorta guilty about the whole circumstance). she knows that he doesn’t like her talking to others for too long (and bc he molded her to be that way after the escape attempt/pt 3 of the series) so unfortunately she kinda hesitates bonding with her old friends bc it’s crazy awkward to talk about her time and relationship with reiner, and it’s been forever since she’s seen them.

reiner and reader after the rumbling become more like an old couple that bickers towards one another but they still love each other; kinda like when reader was at the braun family home to celebrate in pt 2 if y’all remember that, but it’s genuine, no more pretending.

the scout squad think its a pretty weird to see her and him being in a relationship (esp cause reiner literally kidnapped her) but they don’t really question it too hard, cause quite literally everyone there is traumatized and trying to do their own thing to heal. plus everyone there has done their own war crimes, so reiner kidnapping and having a family? unfortunately pretty tame compared to murder tbh 😭😭

i wanna say that she wouldn’t completely hate the child, she kinda eventually learns to love her baby during her pregnancy cause a baby is a baby, they're going to be born without hate or any ill intent, but she still holds a particular kind of fear towards them. they’re a part of her but also a part of the very monster that’s taken her to this place. the thoughts of what if they end up exactly like him comes to mind constantly: obsessive, selfish, deceiving. she's so terrified of what her baby would end up as but when the child is finally born (i feel like reiner would be more of a girl dad idk if i said this before), all those worries are washed away. reader can only silently promise to give this sweet child a complete ignorance of what it's truly like living in marley, so in a way, she's really trying to give them a good life compared to hers.

i've said this before in previous asks (maybe lol) but reader does have a large portion in her heart that shares a deep softness towards reiner and no matter how much she denies it and how insanely irrational it is, it's true. don't forget though, a small part of it still resents the hell out of him, it's basically the only sane part she retains but holds back. why? not even she herself knows but it's most likely the hormones making her bounce back and forth in her mind.

reader is mostly trying to protect the child from what the father truly is and her desire to run away again but with her child starts up again. there has to be a better life for them than constantly being under the watchful eye of him and she attempts running again when he offhandedly mentioned about getting her pregnant again once she recuperates. she doesn't get far and he catches her of course, threatening to take away their child from her if she does anything like this again. she can only weep and agree, clutching the baby deeply in her arms and preventing him from even trying to hold their kid. reader actually does eventually let him hold their baby but only if she's nearby and watching him bond with them; she always becomes a nervous wreck during it and reiner rationalizes it as just her motherly instincts so he never pushes/taunt her about it or pressures her to calm down. he really wished that she'll finally give into the idea that she's no longer going to get out of marley after the birth of the first child, but hey, that's what a second child is for 🤪🤪

reiner definitely controls reader's social groups when he can. before bonding with porco, she was only really allowed to speak with the warriors and his family. anyone else either doesn't pay any mind to her or was too afraid of her (since she originated from paradis and is well-known to be married to the armored titan holder), but very select few like the fisherman that helped her can hold a conversation with her and ignore the status she has. tbh reiner really can't control who she talks to since he's out and about a lot but i think in another ask, i've mentioned that he hired some people to keep watch of her if she's doing anything suspicious or behind his back but they don't really keep complete watch on her bc wtf else is a housewife gonna do (this is literally their undoing bc she got away with a lot before the escape attempt happened 💀💀).

but like after the whole porco shit and the escaping, he never leaves her side and literally goes with her everywhere. groceries, shopping, even a simple stroll to stretch her legs, he's coming with her. conversations with any stranger are cut short and if the warriors are nearby, they'll only get a brief hello and a wave from them. reiner's so smothering that it's even more unbearable and reader never gets the chance for some peace until he leaves for more fighting. BUTTTT when he leaves and the house becomes all quiet, reader can't admit it aloud but she started hating the silence and starts missing his presence, as clingy as he is hehe

I LITERALLLLLYYYYY HAD THIS IDEA BACK WHEN I STARTED THE 2ND PART OF CACOETHES AND WHEN I WAS WRITING THE PORCO PARTS ABOUT LIKE A DIVERGENCE OF THE PLOT WHERE IT'S PORCO'S POV AND HE AND READER GET TOGETHER BEHIND REINER'S BACK. i kinda did wanted to originally add an implication that reader was sleeping with porco but since i was trying to go about this by how the characters were in the actual plot of aot (even tho when i started this blog and posted the first part, i hadn't watched the series since like 2013-2014 so i was extremely rusty when i came back to it), i felt like porco would never try sleeping with his vice captain's wife; maybe he would cause he'd prolly do it out of spite or get on reiner's nerves or has this cocky attitude about being able to get away with it, something to that extent. however, i think he's too prideful to be sleeping with an "island devil" he kinda likes and sorta has a slight amount of respect towards reiner (just bc he's a higher rank and that's about it).

what would reader and reiner’s baby do and what troubles would come if they found out how their parents relationship came about?

in the beginning of her pregnancy, reiner and reader had a mutual agreement that their child would not know the true story of how they met, where and what is paradis island, the true nature of their relationship, etc. they agree that it's best for the baby to be raised by the image of loving and doting parents, and to keep their problems towards each other out of the picture when it comes to their kid. let's pretend this is not me projecting fr LMAO but the two of them really try their best to be "normal" and civilized around each other so it wouldn't affect/reflect on their child.

so when reader did try and run away again cause of her own fears towards him, reiner was pissed since she basically broke the contract and made that threat to take away their baby from her so it keeps her in line kinda.

if the child does eventually find out the truth of their relationship towards one another, they basically don't have any trust towards the both of them and becomes resentful towards them. their father is an absolute POS for doing that to their mother for years and their mother is a coward for not doing more to escape; even though she could do very little for her situation due to the theoretical leash that reiner has on her, she was just doing what she thought was right for them. reader would rather be hated for her actions that have them end up like reiner.

that being said, on the other side of the coin, the child could be manipulated by reiner to think that their relationship is normal and is to be expected when they grow up and find their own partner. this is the worst outcome, especially for reader since their child became what she feared the most. and if they do have a second kid, reader swears up and down that this time it would be different and reiner wouldn't get into their head with his lies.

reiner loves reader more than anything in the world so he'd care for her more than the baby if it is determined to be a risk/danger to her life. he can have another child but he can't — and won't — ever have another you.

if we're talking about s4/cacoëthes reiner and you unfortunately passed from childbirth, it'll be his last straw and he'd definitely won't be capable to take care of your child alone, he'd be a complete and utter mess without you (basically canonically him in s4 tbh 💀) and he really couldn't be there for the child as much as possible. the child would become a haunting remnant of you (they have your eyes, your hair, the way their smile is exactly like yours) and as much as he didn't want to become like his father and neglect his fatherly duties, he unfortunately turns that way. reiner's not like verbally abusive or has ever blamed the child for taking away the love of his life, he's just super distant (esp cause now he's off going on wars constantly to distract himself + the limited amount of time he has left with his Titan inheritance) and his mother takes on most of the care for the child. it's better to be not so attached if he's going to die soon. he'd definitely be at his limit, biding his time until he can finally see you again in the next world.

BUT if we're talking about modern au reiner, this man is more capable of being a single father than his s4 self. he'd never remarry of course, his heart is dedicated to you always, but i feel like he's more mentally stable in the modern world. like yeah, he has times where he feels like he's better off dead but he'd be damned to hell if he doesn't take care of the child that you left behind, the only piece of you he has left. don't get me wrong, s4/cacoëthes reiner does share affection for his child but he can't look them in the eye and not feel completely devastated over you all over again. for him, that's the safest way for him to care for his child because he knows that he'll endanger them in some way. but modern au reiner can get therapy and manage his mental turmoil and anguish better than s4/cacoëthes reiner so he can actually care for his child without being neglectful 💀

hi and welcome back anon <3 LOLOL it's okay if you wanna ask more about cacoethes, i like talking about it and trying to describe more in-depth about the characters.

so let's start with annie and bertolt cause of course we gotta start with reiner's homies and the ones that knew about her since the start.

annie was already sorta close with the reader in the first place, close enough to be teaching her a bit of the moves she learned with her dad back home. the reader was so persistent on being her friend and learning from her that annie just gave in so she'd leave her alone, but she does share some platonic fondness over her. when reiner mentioned about bringing her home with them, she really did think it was terrible idea and that he was a hard-headed moron to think that a paradisian soldier would trust a trio of enemy titan shifters in the first place. part of her was trying to protect the reader from an unwanted life but also because she was more focused on getting the founding titan and finally going home. when she finally gets de-crystiallized and meets up with the scouts, she notices that the reader isn't with them and wonders if reiner really did manage to bring her to marley or if she got killed (but she already knew that reiner would never let that happen).

bertolt has been mentioned to be wary of the reader and at first, hostile towards her. he didn't like the idea of krista/historia either because he didn't want reiner's intentions to get the founding titan to be muddled with trying to find a wife on this island. when he started to get to know the reader more, he felt really bad that they were deluding her from their real selves and their true purpose for being here. she's a nice girl, don't get him wrong but reiner can find another nice marleyan girl similar to her. but he was so goddamn persistent that his wife had to be her and only her that he went along with it, especially after reiner offed marco and had an unexplainable mental break. he basically just felt really guilty overall and though he was sorta mean towards her, he still cared about the reader since they were slowly become friends. even when facing his death, the brief thought of her being forced into marley made him sick to his stomach and he had to die with the guilt that he didn't do more to stop his best friend.

now moving onto the warriors in marley! i'm gonna be doing the adults cause i've established briefly (i think in the second chapter) that gabi doesn't like the reader at all and i don't really wanna write about the childrens' (gabi and falco) or colt's viewpoint lol

starting with zeke, he didn't and doesn't really care all that much about the reader. all he knew was that she's a devil that reiner became too fond of during the years of being on the island and refused to leave behind, making him pull strings out of his ass to convince the higher ups to let her stay in the country. during the transport and the "immigration" processes, he considered her a complete pain in the ass for making him do all of this needless work. he also doesn't like the fact that reiner wants to have children, consistently bringing it up after meetings or whenever they don't have anything to talk about. he does admire the determination the reader has on abstaining from sex, amused by the fact that she's rejected reiner's advances for nearly three years. zeke thinks she's a little cute whenever she try to hide from his gaze but he doesn't think about you 24/7 like reiner does. she's just a weak devil-blooded soldier that reiner chose to marry and that's it, nothing more and nothing less.

with pieck, she's kind towards the reader and briefly shown to have a peaceful acquaintance with her. she doesn't really care much that she comes from paradis, but she was shocked back then when reiner told her to bring her unconscious body to the boat, wondering why he had decided to bring her along (at first she thought that she was the founding titan holder). she knows that the reader will always be uncomfortable with the fact that she was forced to come to marley so she tries her best to ease her mind whenever they hang out, occasionally with the company of porco (before the reader and him fought and became friends). she does enjoy her cooking and likes the fact that she lets her hide in the guest bedroom to nap whenever the others are trying to make her do her share of the paperwork.

porco absolutely hated the reader, at first. he was never okay like the others with the fact that she came from paradis island, bringing up the fact that she's a "full-blooded" devil. even when she became married to reiner, he thought the man was under a spell that caused him to be so disillusioned from the fact that she's a paradisian, the enemy they've sworn war on. so in the beginning, he ignored her or insulted her bloodline, never wanting to be in the same room as her ever. it seemed to work for a while, she avoided him like the plague as well until that fateful night. sparring with her changed everything about her to him. i will confirm that porco did develop a crush on the reader as the days went by the more he hung out her alone (he can now sorta understand why reiner chose her out of everyone in the island) but he's always going to be conflicted about it and never do anything about his new and indifferent feelings towards her. cause yk... she's married LMFAO even if the reader had told him that she's dissatisfied with being married to reiner, he's not the one who's going to cause or push for an affair between them. porco develops a fondness for her but he constantly has to remind himself that his duty comes first, not this woman that comes from the island that he's been taught to hate.

in all, they're basically indifferent towards her. like they know she's nice but all the kindness she gave out was a weakness that reiner used to his advantage. hope this was a satisfactory answer to your question HAHA

all in all, it’s basically indifference since they’ve gone through so much that finding out reader has been kidnapped into reiner’s war wife is pretty minute 💀 like omg thank god you’re somehow still alive but i have trauma to deal with, so let’s talk about this later
